XLR query expert question

Here is a little challenge from a user. I am using B1 for Stock control and Stock forecasting. Until now we used a Microsoft Access Query to extract to Stock Consumption Quantity from SAP tables and this query works fine and it creates the Stock Consumtion and forecast report for our company. However, I am trying to achieve the same result by using XLR in SAP and I can get the Stock Quantity from the relevant A/R Invoice table and extract the Quantity value for a particular Stock Item ( say MRH001 = Shampoo )
However, MRH001 is also used as part of other Gift Packs and we use Production Order and Bill of Material, to make up these packs. So the Gift Pack is finally recorded as a new Stock Item called Pack1 which contains MRH001. So our total consumption of Shampoo (MRH001) is made up from sales of MRH001 itself + MRH001 sold as Pack1. So we need a way of finding out the total SALES of MRH001 and so far we could not find a way. Our Business Partner has also tried to come up with an idea but so far we could not crack this one.
To make things more complex, our Pack1 (which contains MRH001) can be included in another pack (say Pack2). So now we have Shampoo sales under 3 different product codes, MRH001, Pack1 and Pack2.
Any ideas from SAP experts?

Thanks for this pointer. I used the QPLD before and probably you are right that I may be able to run a Query to do this but when it come to functionality I found the QPLD limiting. I may give it another go.
Unfortunately, I do not have christal reporting but I have heard that it may become part of B1 in the future?

Simple database query syntax question

Hi experts,
I am just stucked here...
e.g.
String Name = "John Doe";
String query =
"select * from table where NameCol = "+Name;
ResultSet rs =stmt.executeQuery(query);
while (rs.next()) {
System.out.println(rs.getString(NameCol);
The complier complains that "Syntax error !" at
" NameCol = ....." ?!?!
Why this is happening ? What is the correct syntax ?

ViewObject Query [Expert Mode] not fetching the results

I have modified the EO query by selecting the Expert Mode.
When i ran the query in Sql plus im able to view the records, but when i execute the view object, im unable to see the records.
Any help?

Hi ,
There is no where clause for the query. Also i have set maxfetchSize as -1.
Hence it should retrive the results from database. Also i printed the Query using getQuery() method.
When i ran the same query offline, i was able to retrive the values.
1. The VO has an entity usage.
2. The VO query is modified in Expert mode.
When vo.executeQuery() is called, it returned 0 records

MVA SQL Server Query Assessment question

Hi Guys
I was doing a course on MVA, Querying Microsoft SQL Server Quick Start. This question came up in the assessment:
True or False: You use the INTERSECT operator to combine results from two SELECT statements. Only rows that appear in both results sets are displayed.
I answered it as TRUE but it marked it wrong.
Am I not right??

Bi Query Design Question

Hi,
I have a question regarding a query design issue I was faced with today. I was asked to designed a Query, however all the fields required are all defined as characteristics but I would like to display one as a key figure. I would have a characteristic for a row, the column also for a characteristic and have another characteristic displayed instead of the key figured Is that possible?

Update several rows with single query (easy question, I guess)

I have table with two columns - name and value.
I populate it with several sql queries:
insert into settings (name, value) values ('company_name', 'My Company');
insert into settings (name, value) values ('company_address', 'Company Address 12');
insert into settings (name, value) values ('company_city', 'South Park');
How can update rows with company_name and company_city in single query?

Query View questions

Hi,
Can anyone tell me how I can find out what query belongs to a query view? A table out there?
Found the answer to this question: Table RSZWVIEW.
Also, if a person has access to the query do they automatically get access to the view?

You are correct about the table. There is a trick for query views. You must insert an entry into the RSADMIN table in order to start checking for authorizations based on query views, otherwise, it simply uses the query. There is an OSS note: 601090. Hope this helps.

Simple Query Caching Question

I have a .cfm template that is used to render a handful of
pages of my website. Each page is a department, for example, like
"Arts & Entertainment", "Health", "Finance", and so on. On each
of these pages (rendered by this same template) there is a common
element... a list of our top ten articles. I have used the
"cachedwithin" feature to cache the query for a 3-hour period.
My question is this...
Since it is a single template generating these department
pages, the "top articles" query is exactly the same in terms of
query name, datasource... only the SQL statement (which uses a
"WHERE department_id = X" statement) is different. Let's say I have
ten departments rendered by this template... should it be caching
all ten queries, regardless of the names being the same?

Hopefully you only have one cfquery tag and it is located in
the .cfm template and you are using a variable in your where
clause. If not, you are not being efficient with your code.
If you do have just one cfquery tag, and you have a
cachedwithin attribute, cold fusion will cache a query each time
your variable changes.

SQL Query returns question marks

I am seeing a SQL Query, executed via ADODB in VB, from a 10G client (don't know exact version) to a Sun Solaris based 9.2.0.5.0 Server return all question marks...Table queried consists of 3 columns, 2 varchar2, one long: Here query:
SELECT SETTINGVALUE FROM EWORKFLO.CONFIG WHERE SETTINGGROUP='New test' AND SETTINGNAME='Single Page'
The query results in 2576 question marks...(????? etc).
Any idea what may be going on here?

Thanks for replying. When this query is run from SQLPLUS we get a proper result back, that is the actual values from the SETTINGVALUE column. This is the LONG column and contains data like this:
[Scan Section]
DeviceTimeout=15
Display=1
hDCCreate=0
Unit=0
DialogTitle=
IniFileName=c:\winnt\temp\kf.ini
IniSectionName=Scan Section
DeviceCache=1
etc....etc....
Depending on the settings created, the return string may vary in length.

Complex query/join question

Not sure if this goes here, but I thought I'd try anyway.
I'm using Oracle 8i for a legacy app and the RDBMS won't be updated anytime soon. I'm trying to write a fairly complex sum and join query. I have two different tables with hours worked type information. I need to be able to sum the hours for a work day on each table and put, in a web table like a GridView, all rows, even if there isn't a match in the opposite table. So, for example

ID SHOP WORKDATE SHOPHOURS
1 AM1 1/1/2008 4
1 AM1 1/1/2008 4
2 AM1 1/1/2008 8
3 AM1 1/1/2008 8
Table 2
ID WORKDATE PAYHOURS

What I need to see is

Since i'm on 8i, I can't use a FULL OUTER Join, so i'm kind of stumped. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Service Offering, Query Results question.

Hi,
I got a question about the Service Offering, Query Results criteria page.
As shown in the Picture below i have a Query based on the Active Directory User Class.
The background is that i got alot of accounts more than 2000. The token "String" is used to narrow down the search. I also got some accounts that i dont want to show in the portal for the end users (The ones who
ends with "Z" in the pager).
Generally i would say that the "OR" would be "AND" (due to it is an logical operator, i want both conditions to be true) between the two UserPager properties, but i havent found any way to change that. I suspect that it is not possible
to change "OR" to "AND" when making criterias against the same values more than 1 time.
The Query below will return all accounts under that Distinguished name, even if i wrote something in the String prompt. Removing the Criteria Pager ends on "Z" makes the String prompt work. But it will not exclude those objects ending with
Z. Is this a normal behavior or am i thinking/doing sometime wrong?

This is how all criterias work in service manager. If the same property is included more than once it puts an OR inbetween. You would have to export the MP that contains the query result and edit the criteria manually to AND.
