XML and ordinary html-links???

Hello!
I don't know if this question should be placed in this forum, but I hope someone can help me anyway.
Can I pack my links in a XML file? Lets say I have a homepage containing 100 subpages. On each page I have a link, i.e. the link text. So If I want to change this URL, I have to do changes on each of the 100 pages. Insted of writing "a href="the url"" I want to call the XML file comtaining the URL. With this scenario I only have to change the URL in the XML file instead of changing each of the links in the pages. Is this possible, or is there another better way to do this?

This depends on how the HTML pages are created/live. Are they static HTML pages, are they HTML pages generated from a JSP, or are they generated from a servlet? You can create custom JSP link tag to do this resolution, or you can put resolution code in servlet. If pages are static HTML, then you can't do these things :o(

Convert Pages document to PDF and maintain html links accurately

Hi - I am trying to convert a Pages document to pdf, simple right? go to Print / PDF / Save as pdf...
I have also tried Print / Save as Postscript and Print / Open in PDF
with the same results, which are...
Pages dutifully converts to pdf, but on some pages where I have multiple links the formatting position of the links is all over the place on the page, some links are conflated on the page so it says one thing 'www.bbc.co.uk' for example but when you click that link it links to 'www.cnn.com' instead because CNN is the link a little further on in the line, or in the line of text above, or whole sections of the page (half of one page) become a link!
I have checked the formatting positions and link lables over and over again in Pages and they are spot on, no confusion, no leaking in positional accuracy, it is only when converting to pdf or postscript
I have many html links in my document so it is vital that the exact position of the formatted links in Pages is converted accurately.
Any advice on
a) using Pages Print command accurately? or
b) third party apps (really dont want to go there)
that might convert more accurately?

I went back to 09 as suggested which identified the section in question as having a whole load of text that had become associated with one of the links - goodness knows how or why - but this wasn't apparent in the Pages 5 doc, nothing explicit signified that there was an issue with the formatting until converting to pdf
It took me a while to strip it all out without losing all the other formatting! but done now and converting beautifully to pdf with complete accuracy in terms of formatting positions of linked text...
I then reimported back into Pages 5 to see if I could make sense of it in the same way, long story short no chance, there is still background formatting in there, despite going through it line by line, character by character and removing all traces of any link through the 'right click' 'remove link' function - as soon as you convert to pdf lots of text becomes active again even though it is absolutely not visible in the Pages 5 doc
Clearly, despite a strong desire to continue in 5 from a being uptodate perspective, I shall stick to the 09 world and wait for Apple to sort things out.
If anyone from Apple is reading this, it has cost me approx 2 days of messing about to get to a point where I give up on 5 and return to 09. Please resolve as soon as possible!

Open email client and use HTML link

How does one open an email client and embed a body with HTML, so links will work.
I have tried:

This is not to be sent to a php page, but load the user's Email Client.

Using URL notation to specify an emails contents you can't force a user to use rich text. Some have their clients to default to plain text. Therefore it will just show the HTML. There is no guaranteed way to achieve this.
If the user has rich text set as default a link being injected typically auto-links anyhow. You may not SEE it as a hyperlink but send the email and the receiving users computer should see it as a hyperlink.
So try:
var request:URLRequest = new URLRequest("mailto:[email protected]?subject=some subject Results&body=http://www.somelink.com");
Then send that email to yourself. You should see it appear as a hyperlink automatically, as long as you have rich text mode enabled. Otherwise no matter what you send a plain text user will never see your hyperlink anyhow as it strips HTML out.

Html linking

Hi there,
I dont know if I am in the right part of the boards to ask
this but I will anyway.
I have a flash website and I have a site map within it that
uses an external txt file as HTML to show everything. My question
is I want to link from my html in the swf to a particular movie
clip in the flash website. How do I go about that? An example would
be more than helpful.
I can get it to link to the actual main swf but inside that
swf are movieclips obviously and the HTML link I would like to go
to the movie clip rather than the overall swf.

We are on EP5.0 , SP5 and I am trying to use EPCM functionalities in EP Portal 5.0 .
I am able to use the "doNavigate" method to call another portal page, but am unable to place the page on the same window. By default it is opening the page on the first ( Home) page. Is there a way where we can specify the Target Location for the page to Open ?
Do you have any idea on this one too ?

HTML links in Vibe Feed and digest e-mails do not work on GW 8.0.3client

I have GroupWise 8.0.3hp1 on NetWare 6.5.8 and a Vibe 3.3 install on
SUSE 11 (the downloadable Vibe demo virtual machine from Novell's site).
I have recently started upgrading GroupWise clients on Windows 7 PCs
(64bit), and have been testing Vibe. I have run into a problem with
HTML links in GW clients not working on PCs where the GW client has been
upgraded.
This problem occurs using the GroupWise 8.0.3hp2 and 8.0.3hp3 clients,
but does not occur on a 8.0.2hp2 client, so it appears to be GroupWise
client related. I haven't tested any other client versions.
1. When using the GW 8.0.3 client, if I select any of the "Novell Vibe
OnPrem", "Favorites", or "My Teams" folders, I can see the Vibe Feed
display showing entries for sites I'm following. But clicking on the
links in these entries does nothing, so I cannot use the Vibe Feed to go
directly to files, profiles, etc. The same Vibe Feed links from the
Vibe web browser interface or from a GW8.0.2hp2 client works fine.
2. If I have e-mail digest notifications setup to let me know when
changes are made to a folder or file in Vibe, the e-mails are delivered
to me just fine. But once again, none of the links in the e-mails work
when using the GW8.0.3 client. Clicking on them does nothing. If I
look at the e-mail message source, I can copy-and-paste the URLs
directly into a browser and they work fine, so the URLs themselves are
correct. Again, these links work fine if I use the GroupWise WebAccess
or a GW8.0.2hp2 client.
Is the GW 8.0.3 client is blocking these HTML links? I receive no
notification from the client asking whether to "unblock" any
links/scripts/images when viewing messages with these Vibe links.
Any suggestions for getting these to work on GW 8.0.3 client?

Is there a way to select MULTIPLE tabs and then copy ALL of the the URLs and titles/or URLs+titles+HTML links? This can be done with the Multiple Tab Handler add on; However, I prefer to use a Firefox feature rather than download an add on. Thanks.

Currently, I can copy ONE tab's url and nothing else (not its name). Or I can bookmark all tabs that are open. However, I'd like to have the ability to select multiple tabs and then copy ALL of the the URLs AND their titles/or copy ALL of the URLs+titles+HTML links? This can be done with the Multiple Tab Handler add on; when I download the add on, I get a message saying that using the add on will disable Firefox's tab features. I prefer to use Firefox features rather than download and use an add on. Is there a way to do this without an add on?

You should definitely be able to upload multiple files by Shift-clicking or Ctrl-clicking the files you want to upload. Just to make sure you don't have an old version of the service cached, please clear the browser cache and then log in to https://cloud.acrobat.com/files. After clicking the File Upload icon in the upper-right corner, you should be able so select multiple files for upload.

Tabbing issues - form fields and HTML links

I have a few HTML links in the top of a page with a form starting half way down the page. When using the tab order, I am able to specify tab order no problem in the form fields but when previewing or using the PDF and tabbing through, the tab order gets thrown out of wack and jumps up to the HTML links from tab order, 1 -2 HTML - HTML - 3- 4- so on... I am unable to scpecify a tab order for the HTML links as it gives no option. I have tried to send the text field to a back layer but it does nothing. Is there anything I can do to correct this?

For many people submit by e-mail can never work, because their PC is
not set up to send email. For example, countless millions use only
Hotmail, Gmail, Yahoo or similar.
It's also possible you set options (like "submit whole PDF") that
don't work with the free Reader.
It's best to think of "submit by e-mail" as something to help you in
the prototyping before moving on to a proper web-based solution.

Special > Hypertext > Command "open document" will do its best to open the target document inside FrameMaker, which may not be much help; Special > Hypertext > Command "message …" will use the application you specify. The user guide for 7.0 says this about absolute links, and I don't think anything has changed since:
For example, to start PaintBrush and open the Ship.pcx file on drive C you would use the command message system pbrush.exe C:/Ship.pcx
I've not often used a relative link, and not recently: the same source says
folder levels are separated by a slash / even in Windows and Mac
[relative links] FrameMaker searches for a relative pathname beginning in the folder that contains the current document
[absolute links] FrameMaker searches for an absolute pathname beginning at the top of the file system. In Windows, the absolute pathname begins with the drive specifier, a colon and a slash.

Html:link submit and passing parameters

I need to submit the form when the <html:link ..... > is clicked/pressed and also need to pass parameters.

When i click on the link getting javascript error which says "syntax error". when I remove the "name" attribute in <html:link> there is no error but I need to have the name attribute to pass the parameters.

Parameters can only be passed like that to an actual URL. eg http://localhost:8080/myApp/showEmployee?id=123&dept=Sales
In this case, you are using the link tag to invoke javascript - not a url. URL Parameters don't apply to this string
If you are indeed submitting a form, I would suggest that you instead go with putting hidden fields on the form to submit the value.

Render xml and html content type in single jsp

I have 2 jsps, one jsp(a.jsp) is throwing content-type as HTML and other JSP(b.jsp) is throwing content-type as xml. I am making use of xsl to render the xml content in html format. But the problem is that i want to include b.jsp in a.jsp, and when i do so b.jsp doesn't make use of xsl for its rendering rather it displays the contents haphazardly.
Plese help if somebody knows the solution.

None of the above works fine after importing xml to Indesign document/templete, it is not renderting equivalent out instead it is showing the same text inside tags in the Indesign document.
I have lot of content in our database, I will export to XML, import to Indesign, Indesign should render required output like what we see in the browser and export the output to printed format.

Can any one guide me and let me know whether it is posible to do with Indesign, if so let me know in case if I am missing anything in importing xml and get required output.

Possibly your expectations are too high. ... Scratch that "possibly".
XML, in general, cannot be "rendered". It's just an abstract data format. Compare it to common markup such as *asterisks* to indicate emphasized words -- e-mail clients will show this text in bold, but InDesign, and the vast majority of other software, does not.
To "render" XML, HTML, MathML, or LaTeX -- you seem to freely mix these *very* different markup formats, unaware of the fact that they are vastly different from each other! -- in the format you "expect", you need to apply the appropriate software to each of the original data files. None of these markup languages are supported natively by InDesign.

Generate HTML from XML and XSLT

i want to generate a HTML file from XML and XSLT in a temp folder and then read it into a java.lang.String, so can email it or write to a database file.
how can i do it, is there any engine which will merger XML and XSLT and give a HTML file or a String as output

Follow the simple steps.
1) Create XML Document (I hope u have it)
2) Create XSL Stylesheet for your XML document
3) Put both files in one directory some where in your local system or web server upto u
4) Invoke the XML document from webbrowser and you are done.

Shed graphics and html link bug

When I link my shed graphics to html links the links do not
stay, but instead changes to a macro. I was able to do this in my
last compile but that was in RoboHelp 6.
