XML-Cals table with aid namespaces

hi at all!
i have a xml-cals table which i'd like to import in indesign including the aid-namespaces especially the tablestyle. for me, it never worked out. is it actually possible to include the aid namespaces in a xml-cals table model?!
thanks in advace

this is my cals table:
<eigenschaften_tab>

<tgroup cols="2">
<colspec colnum="1" colname="eigenschaft" colwidth="72.87007874021651pt"/>
<colspec colnum="2" colname="ausprägung" colwidth="93.89370078728348pt"/>

<row>

Standort:

hell, halbschattig

</row>
<row>

Wuchs:

mittel

</row>
<row>

Pflanzenschmuck:

Blatt

</row>
<row>

Farbe:

gelb, grün

</row>

</tgroup>

</eigenschaften_tab>

Hi,
I think that it is not possible because the CALS and InDesign XML are using different namespaces.

• [CS4/JS] Import CALS-Tables with merged cells

Hello scripters.
I am actually trying to import CALS-tables (which is in my imported XML) into InDesign.
I used the convertElementToTable for this.
That worked, except for the merged cells (only cells which are merged to two or three columns).
How could I script the automatic generation for merged cells?
My xml-cals-table looks the following:

• XML Structured Index with multiple namespaces

Hi,
I'm having some trouble creating an xmlindex with structured component on a clob xmltype column without registered schema, whose data uses multiple namespaces.
The code I'm using atm:
CREATE TABLE "DECLARATIONS"
"ID" NUMBER(19,0),
"XML" "SYS"."XMLTYPE"
CREATE INDEX decl_header_ix ON "DECLARATIONS"(xml) INDEXTYPE IS XDB.XMLINDEX
PARAMETERS ('PATHS (INCLUDE (/emcs:emcsDeclaration/emcs:header//*)
NAMESPACE MAPPING (xmlns:emcs="http://www.myurl.eu/myapp/schema/emcs/nl"))');
INSERT INTO "DECLARATIONS" VALUES (1,'

<emcs:emcsDeclaration xsi:schemaLocation="http://www.myurl.eu/myapp/schema/emcs/nl emcs_domain.xsd"
xmlns:common="http://www.myurl.eu/myapp/schema/common"
xmlns:emcs="http://www.myurl.eu/myapp/schema/emcs/nl"
xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance">
<emcs:header>
<common:identifier>70</common:identifier>
<common:declarationSequenceNumber>54566</common:declarationSequenceNumber>
<common:dateCreated>2010-10-21-01:00</common:dateCreated>
<common:status>01 Draft e-AAD in preparation</common:status>
</emcs:header>
</emcs:emcsDeclaration>');A this moment it's not desirable for us to register the schemas used in oracle. According to the documentation I should be able to add a structured component to the index as follows:
BEGIN
DBMS_XMLINDEX.registerParameter('MY_XSI_GROUP_PARAMETER'
, 'ADD_GROUP GROUP MY_XSI_GROUP
XMLTABLE decl_header
XMLNAMESPACES (''http://www.myurl.eu/myapp/schema/emcs/nl'' AS emcs,
''http://www.myurl.eu/myapp/schema/common'' AS common),
COLUMNS
status VARCHAR2(30)  PATH ''/emcs:emcsDeclaration/emcs:header/common:status/text()''
END;
ALTER INDEX DECL_HEADER_IX PARAMETERS('PARAM MY_XSI_GROUP_PARAMETER');However this results in an ORA-00904: invalid identifier. After some experimenting it seems that oracle tries to parse the namespace URLs as identifiers (even tho http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E14072_01/appdev.112/e10492/xdb_indexing.htm#BCGJAAGH & http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E14072_01/appdev.112/e10492/xdb_xquery.htm#BABJCHCC specify the former), so I swapped them around:
BEGIN
DBMS_XMLINDEX.dropParameter('MY_XSI_GROUP_PARAMETER');
DBMS_XMLINDEX.registerParameter('MY_XSI_GROUP_PARAMETER'
, 'ADD_GROUP GROUP MY_XSI_GROUP
XMLTABLE decl_header
XMLNAMESPACES (emcs ''http://www.myurl.eu/myapp/schema/emcs/nl'',
common ''http://www.myurl.eu/myapp/schema/common''),
COLUMNS
status varchar2(30)  PATH ''/emcs:emcsDeclaration/emcs:header/common:status/text()''
END;
ALTER INDEX DECL_HEADER_IX PARAMETERS('PARAM MY_XSI_GROUP_PARAMETER');Oracle seems to get a bit further with this, resulting in a ORA-19102: XQuery string literal expected. Here I pretty much hit a dead end. Removing the xmlnamespaces declaration altogether leads to a ORA-31013: Invalid XPATH expression. Going through the examples on http://www.liberidu.com/blog/?p=1805 works fine, but as soon as I try to add namespaces to it they stop working as well.
So my question is: how do I get xmlnamespaces (with non-default namespaces) to work in a structured xmlindex component?

If you want, I can help you tomorrow. Call me at my nieuwegein office or mail me at marco[dot]gralike[at]amis[dot]nl
I have some time tomorrow, so I can help you with this. My next presentation for UKOUG will be on XML indexes strategies anyway...

• Creating XML using DBMS_XMLGEN with a namespace

Is it possible to create an XMLTYPE using the DBMS_XMLGEN function set that contains a namespace. As far as I can see only the 'setrowsettag' function allows any control over what goes into the root element - should I be including, for example, an attribute called 'xmlns' with a value?
The reason I ask all this is I'm trying to validate xml created from a select statement against a registered xsd.
The xsd I've registered:

</site>
When I try to validate it, I get:
ORA-30937: No schema definition for 'site' (namespace '') in parent '/'
ORA-06512: at "SYS.XMLTYPE", line 345
ORA-06512: at line 30
How do I get a namespace declaration in the XML? Any suggestions gratefully received.

Did you change any of the text in the lob write statements ?
I believe you get this error if you increase the number of characters without increasing the 1st argument which looks as though it represents the number of characters

• Tables with varying columns imported from XML

Hi,
I have an XML file for a product catalog. Each product has Name, SKU, Image, Description and a Table with some data in it. Each table is different is size, varying number of columns and rows.
I have anchored objects for some of the elements like Image or SKU in my template.
When I load the XML I check 'Clone repeating elements' upon import so I can maintain the various anchored frames for my elements. However it breaks the tables. It appears that each new table is trying to copy the previous table's exact number of rows and columns. If I uncheck this option then I get the tables in right but I lose the rest of the formatting.
Any idea how I can handle this?
Thanks,
Luke

Luke,
We had the same problem doing a table of data that had varying columns and rows. For us, this was handled by adding table information such as cell width and cellstyle on the incoming XML (generated through a backend system that was also gathering the data into XML files, through using xml templates). We found that placeholder tables were not an option if you wanted the columns to be flexible, so instead the tables were being built by the XML.
If you are not using a backend system or don't have a way to customize the incoming data, I think you may be able to use XSLT as an intermediate way to apply more information to the XML (cell widths, etc) I am copying dummy tables below to show how the XML we used looked coming into the Indesign document. This code would all be contained within opening and closing "Root" tags in the XML. There are 3 separate tables (one called Summary, one actually called Table and one called Legend), each with its own cell widths and number of rows. The data container holds all tables, and a table growing in length will push the next table down on the page (or to the next page).
Note that each table has a different tag (name), but is described as a table through the information contained in its opening tag's attributes. We also used both namespaces (4.0 and 5.0) to take advantage of cellstyle as well as pstyle tags in the table body, allowing each cell and copy block to be styled differently when needed.

• [CS3][VBS]Converting a CALS table to Indesign table in XML

Hi!

I have an xml-file with tables that I want to import into Indesign. It works fine when I use the Import CALS tables as Indesign tables in "Import options", but the problem is when I do this some emphasis elements inside the "entry" elements isn't found when I try to use XMLRules to format the emphasis elements in the document...
The structure of the table can be like this (in general):
Tabell
table
tblgrp
tbody
row

Some text...<emp Type = "bold">bold text</emp>

Some text

some text

row
tbody
tblgrp
table
Tabell

When I import the Table as CALS tables to Indesign tables, the table structure is collapsed into just a <Tabell> element. I assume this is the reason why the <emp> element isn't found.

I try to solve this by NOT importing CALS tables to Indesign tables. I see then that the whole table structure is intact in the structure panel and the <emp> elements are also found by the XMLRules, but the contents is not put inside a table in the indesign document. To put the table elements into a table in Indesign I use the Command: "ConvertElementToTable" but this doesnt work very well. I use it in XMLRules like this:

Public Property Get xpath()
xpath = "//Tabell"
End Property

Public Function apply(myXMLElement, myRuleProcessor)
With myXMLElement
.ConvertElementToTable "row", "entry"
End With
apply = False
End Function

Does anyone have any experience of importing XML-tables in Indesign and formatting them? I could really need some to put the xml table into Indesign tables...Please help!

In advance thanks!

Hi!
Just check the checkbox "Import CALS tables as Indesign tables" in the XML import options dialogbox. Then it should go automatically.
The problem with this approach is that the entire table structure is collapsed to a single table element in the struture. If one want to do some xml-prosessing at row or cell level one need to to this outside indesign or not import CALS as Indesign tables. The big question is if there is some easy way to convert a CALS table to an Indesign table inside Indesign after one have imported the data and prosessed the row and cell elements...
Hope anyone knows more than me about this....
Anyway, mkarthic, I hope my answer helped you to import your CALS tables!:-)
Greetings
Pål

• Importing graphics in CALS Table XML

Does anyone have an example of how to import a graphic within one of the cells of a CALS table (XML)?
thanks

I was able to figure out the problem: the xml has to be declared with http://ns.adobe.com/AdobeInDesign/5.0/, the tablestyle attribute doesnt seem to exist in 4.0.
The export seem to be using 4.0 by default and the pdf sample i was using was refering to "aid5". Nice feature.. but definitively need better documentation and more "realworld" exemples! :)
I will have to play more with this, the import doesnt look good with the 5.0 (there is a bogus row that is added (compared to the same 4.0 declared xml)).

The Oracle documentation has a good overview of the options available
Generating XML Data from the Database
Without knowing your version, I just picked 11.2, so you made need to look for that chapter in the documentation for your version to find applicable information.
You can also find some information in XML DB FAQ

Hi all,
When I copy a table with an xml type in it to a new schema in the same database I get an ora-19009.
The setup is as follows I have a schema a with table TABLE_WITH_XMLTYPE where data is:

Can some one point me in the right direction how to solve this error.
Thanks Roelof.

Who did you create the second table, in other words, how did you COPY the table as you said...
If you created the second table via a CTAS (create table as select) then you will have created a table that is not the same as the original one. AFAIK I have once created an enhancement request for this after discovering that JDeveloper, for example, creates a "copy" via a CTAS which creates the wrong structure. Double check via package DBMS_METADATA.
SQL> set long 1000000
SQL> select DBMS_METADATA('TABLE','TABLE_WITH_XMLTYPE','SchemaA') from dual;
SQL> select DBMS_METADATA('TABLE','TABLE_WITH_XMLTYPE','SchemaB') from dual;If you have got two different tables, than Mark's solution should help.

Table truncated.

No, I don't think that explanation is correct. I don't think it has to do with user privs. besides, we don't
adjust rowids on an import -- we recreate the index, just like a b-tree index import would.
This should be working. It's most likely a bug in our (i.e. Text) import code -- SYS.XMLTYPE is a little
strange because under the covers it's actually a function-based index.
I will test it out and file a bug if I can reproduce the behavior on solaris.

• How to convert internal table with dynamic fields to XML

Dear all,
I met a problem like the following:
The aim is to transform the following parameter to XML
IT_FIELD stores the dynamic filed name of the internal table,with these fields, the dynamic internal can be created by cl_abap_tabledescr=>create(it_field)
IT_VALUE stores the value of the internal table dynamically created with dynamic fields.
For example
IT_FIELD =>
line1: FIELD1
line2: FIELD2
line3: FIELD3,
three lines in this internal table.
dynamically created internal table structure FIELD1 FIELD2 FIELD3
And IT_VALUE=>
1          2          3   (First line)
11        22        33
two lines of data.
Do you have any idea about how to transform the IT_VALUE to XML here? And also the transformed XML to the IT_VALUE.( we may need remember IT_FIELD here for later XML to IT_VALUE.)
Hope I describe the problem clearly.
Any inputs will be appreciated.

Hi,
you need to implement a bit of coding for that.
With the 'do varying' statement abap provides a loop over those fields. Within this loop you can build up a new internal table with one entry for each period and amount.
kind regards
Siggi
PS: I am not very familiar with CO, but I guess there will be a standard extractor for that.

• XMLGEN: Produce XML dump of a table WITH tags for null column values

I am new to generating XML so bear with me....
We have a customer who needs an XML extract of data, including tags for any column that is null.
I created a simple test case below using DBMS_XMLGEN.getXML. The first row (A1) has no null values and thus tags for columns A, BEE and CEE are produced. The second row (A2) has null in column BEE and thus tags for only columns A and CEE are produced.
Is there a way to force a tag for null column BEE in the second row?
create table foo (A varchar2(10), BEE number, CEE date);
insert into foo values ('A1',1,sysdate);
insert into foo values ('A2',null,sysdate);
SELECT DBMS_XMLGEN.getXML('SELECT * FROM foo') FROM dual;

<ROW>
A2
<CEE>27-SEP-12</CEE>

• Dynamic Table with XML Schema

Hi, I am new to livecycle and wondering if there is any sample for setting up the dynamic table with XML schema so I can access the data through workbench's xpath. thanks.

Ivor,
Take a look at the samples shipped with Designer. For 8.2.1 release take a look at
C:\Program Files\Adobe\LiveCycle Designer ES\8.2\EN\Samples\Forms\Purchase Order\Schema\Schema\Purchase Order.xsd
and the form samples.
Otherwise, forward a request to [email protected] I would be happy to send you a sample XDP with a dynamic table and a schema.

• Populate table with XML returned by a Web Service

Hi,
I have a web service that executes MulitipleRowQuiery and returns XML
variable.
When I set the data connection (in Designer) to this service in my
PDF form I'm getting "document" and "element" nodes under the
invokeResponce tree (data view palette).
How can I use this parameters in order to traverse the XML that was
returned by the WS?
What I need is to populate a table with this XML data..
Thanks, Rbuz.

You can use the XDP as is ...it is just this forum that will not accept XDP format. I have already made th erequest to get it changed and we are waiting for the next software update.
There are two sets of bindings for every object on a form. DataBindings allow you to import XML and bind the nodes to the fields and Execute bindings which are used with Web Services. I used your sample XML file as an input for data bindings and got it to work the way you want by using [*] in the binding instructions to indicate that more than one node was present there. This is not possible in the Execute bindings. You can only have a one to one relationship. So I do not think you can do it the way you want.
Can you get the WS to return you the entire XML as a single parameter? If so then you could bind that parm to a hidden field, then load all of the XML into the DataDom and use Data Bindings that do support what you are trying to do. I have included a sample that shows the table being filled the way you want using data binding.
You shoudl contact support and get an enhancement logged to get the WS bindings to act the same way.
Hope that helps
Paul
