XML containing ref to both XSL and XSD

Hi,
I trying to transform the following XML file(simplified) using XSLT (using customers.xsl):

<customerData>
<customer>
<ssn>123456789</ssn>

</customer>
</customerData>This works fine, and I get a nice table output of the data. However, when I specify an XSD file in the first element like this:
<customerData xmlns="http://www.galenhollins.com/customer"
xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance"
xsi:schemaLocation="http://www.galenhollins.com/customer customer.xsd">the transformation no longer works (only the table headers are being displayed, but no rows of data are being displayed). I have verified separately that the XML file can be successfully validated by the XSD (using Sun's MSV). Any ideas what might be happening? Am I allowed to both transform and validate an XML file like this at once?
Here is a simplified verison of my XSL file:

<xsl:stylesheet version="1.0" xmlns:xsl="http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Transform">
<xsl:template match="/">

Customers

SSN

Name

<xsl:for-each select="customerData/customer">

<xsl:value-of select="ssn"/>

<xsl:value-of select="name"/>

</xsl:for-each>

</xsl:template>
</xsl:stylesheet>Thanks,
Galen

Hi,
You are seeing this behavior as the way you are specifying the schema in the xml file is wrong.
<customerData xmlns="http://www.galenhollins.com/customer"
xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance"
xsi:schemaLocation="http://www.galenhollins.com/customer customer.xsd">
Only the below 2 lines
xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance"
xsi:schemaLocation="http://www.galenhollins.com/customer
are sufficient to specify the schema.
The following line
<customerData xmlns="http://www.galenhollins.com/customer"
indicates that the customerData and all elements under it belong to the default namespace which is different than when you specify customerData as being in no namespace.
To overcome this problem, modify your xslt as follows:
<customerData xmlns:cd="http://www.galenhollins.com/customer"
xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance"
xsi:schemaLocation="http://www.galenhollins.com/customer customer.xsd">
And in all your templates add the prefix 'cd' in the match attribute as follows:
<xsl:for-each select="cd:customerData/cd:customer">
I have used the prefix cd but you may use any prefix you like
(suv, axn, foo, etc)
Hope this helps.
Cheers,
vidyut

• Use Sign.xml and Encrypt.xml for both request AND response within WSDL?

Hi,
ALSB: 2.6
I was wandering if it's possible to use abstract outof the box WS-Policy file within WSDL file to specify encryption

So far, it only works for either request or response BUT not both. i.e. within WSDL file

So is this a feature not supported in ALSB 2.6 yet or am I missing something dead simple?
Thanks in advance
Sam

Instead of specifying policies for input and output separately you could place the policy reference only once in the operation element. Maybe will this solve your problem...

• How do I add photos to photo stream from BOTH iPhoto and Aperture

I use Photostream for displaying photos I have taken on my DSLR on my iPad. I take the photos, download them into iPhoto and then add them to Photostream. They then appear on my iPad for display to friends and family. But some of my photos are now being manipulated in Aperture. I'd like to display these in the same Photostream, but so far, because I have to choose either the iPhoto libray or the Aperture library - but not both - for the photostream, the only way I can do this is to export the photos from Aperture into iPhoto (which doubles up my photo files). Is there a simpler way to do this?

OK. But let's say you are in iPhoto and you switch libraries so that you are now looking at your Aperture library. In order to add photos to your photostream you have to activate iCoud/photostream again in your iPhoto preferences for the new library. Then you get a message up which says: "iCloud Photos for [my iCloud email address] is being used with another library named "iPhoto Library". Switching iCoud Photos to this library will turn it off in iPhoto library."
In other words this does not solve my problem of how to have one photostream which contains photos from BOTH iPhoto and Aperture.
Is it perhaps possible to merge the iPhoto and Aperture libraries so that you only have one library for both applications?

• 997 generation with custom ecs and xsd

I am able to generate the 997 using the default 997.ecs and 997.xsd. The generated X12 997 has 6 segments but we need to send only 4 segments. I have created a new ecs and xsd (deleted the two segments) using the spec builder. When I use this custom 997 document, it throws below error.
Error Brief : Validator error - Extra data was encountered. Validator error - Extra data was encountered. Validator error - Extra data was encountered. The values are not equal.
The XML payload shows data for the two segments that I have deleted from the ecs in specbuilder. I thought B2B would generate the xml payload based on the ecs and xsd.
Is it possible to generate a customized 997 in B2B?
Thanks
Ismail M.

Is it possible to generate a customized 997 in B2B?No, B2B may not auto-generate the customized 997. For customization cases, it is recommended to handle FA at middleware (SOA layer) or at back-end.

• SCSM Report: List report contaning both IR and SR

I want to create an report which contain list of both IR and SR in one report.
Can someone send me query of this.

There probably isn't an easy way to do this. While they are both Work Items, they are largely different in their construction, so you would essentially need to pull incidents in one way, and service requests in a different way, and then merge the similar
properties into a common table format.
I'd be glad if someone would correct me on this, however, as this is a common request from my clients that don't have a strong service book definition. as much as I disagree with the underlying assumption that all requests are somehow inherently interchangeable
and should be considered as an amorphous homogeneous mass, that doesn't stop people from wanting it to be true.

• Using resourceDescription in SUBSCRIPTIONBUNDLED_Email.xsl and xml's.

Hello all,
We are trying to use the Primitive Template "resourceDescription" (as described in "Customizing Notifications"-pdf) in the SUBSCRIPTIONBUNDLED_EMAIL.xsl and SUBSCRIPTIONBUNDLED_en.xml.
Could anyone urgently let me know if it's possible to use this Primitive Template in the xsl and xml mentioned?
It looks like the "resourceDescription" is not being passed on to the bundlednotificationdata-section in the xml?
Any other suggestion in how to get the "resourceDescription" available in Daily Summary Subscription emails?
Thanks in advance,
Tim.

Hello Alan,
Yes; as far as I know the only way to get your changes to any of the email notification xml files visible is by restarting the server
The notification email xsl I'm working on is the one for the daily notifications (subscriptionbundled_email.xsl).
My problem is that it seems that the resourceDescription is not being passed on by the java code that is populating the section in the xml file containg the resource information...
Unfortunately no confirmation about this yet (raised OSS with SAP as well).
I'm expecting this resourceDescription to contain the text that you can fill in using standard KM in the Description field of a resource.
I do wonder how/where your users populate the subject and description fields? Standard SAP KM or custom app?
Cheers,
Tim.

when DTD is present then it is throwing errors like the elements should be declared.

• XML and XSD file to an internal table

I had read a lot of thread but i don't understand how to deal with xml/xsd in R3.
I need someone that have a definite example for this escenary please.

What functions or method have to use, and how to use them, to charge the XML file in an internal table?

XML
AND CONTINUE
Best Regards,

I just tried to interpret your question, it was not obvious what you wanted.
I guess what you mean is that you have defined (statically) a deep structure, and you want to decode the XML into it. That is called a transformation (transaction STRANS, statement CALL TRANSFORMATION). You have the choice between 2 transformation languages: XSLT and ST. Of course, it depends what release you are running.
I advise you to play first with the ID transformation, to convert an ABAP deep structured data object into XML, so that you see what XML is generated, this one is called asXML. If you create your own transformation, when you call it, it will first convert automatically the data object to asXML, and the transformation has to do the rest of the job.
You can do the opposite, i.e. converting from XML to a data object, according to the same principle (intermediate asXML).
Well, there are lots of things to say, I recommend you to read articles and documentation on XSLT and ST (search on SDN).
About XSD, it won't help (and I did never see any possibility to use it) to decode the XML, as you must anyway define the target data object statically (and there's no tool to generate the ABAP code of the data object definition from the XSD).
Note that you may also use iXML libraries to parse the XML.
Please tell us more.

• Difference/relationship between XML and XSD

Hi All,
Correct me if i am wrong,
When we create a source and a target datatype in IR automatically objects will be created in XSD.
The same way it does when we create message type.
In message mapping, We map source and target message type and when we test with sample data, we can view source and target in xml
My question is what is the difference/relationship between XML and XSD ?
Thanks,
ss

Hi,
XML (Extensible Markup Language) is a W3C initiative that allows information and services to be encoded with meaningful structure and semantics that computers and humans can understand. XML is great for information exchange, and can easily be extended to include user-specified and industry-specified tags.
Whereas
An XML Schema Definition (XSD) is an instance of an XML schema written in the XML Schema language. An XSD defines a type of XML document in terms of constraints upon what elements and attributes may appear, their relationship to each other, what types of data may be in them, and other things. It can be used with validation software in order to ascertain whether a particular XML document is of that type, and to produce a Post-Schema Validation Infoset.
I hope this clarifies.
Regards.

• Does table MCHB (batch stocks) contain both valuated and non valuated stock

Hello
Does table MCHB (batch stocks) contain both valuated and non valuated stock?
Is it possible that material has both valuated and non valuated stock for the same plant and storage location?
Thanks

Hi ,
Most of your queries has been answered by Jurgen.
1)Does valuated or non valuated is linked with valuation type? yes ..if the material is valuated then only there is valuation type.It is used for split valuation .
2)Where can I see whether material is valuated on plant or not?
to check the valuation level IMG >Enterprise Structure>Definition>Logistics - General>Define valuation level
and to check value and quantity updation at plant level check
IMG >Logistics - General>Material Master>Basic Settings>Material Types-->Define Attributes of Material Types
3)Case1
I want material A to be valuated at the plant without split valuation
Case
I want material B to have 0 value at plant
go as Jurgen has recommanded in the previous post . for material B used different material type which is not valuated at that plant .

Anupam

• APEX 4.1.0 to 4.2.1 This page contains both secure and nonsecure items

I have upgrade Oracle Application Express from 4.1.0 to 4.2.1. After the upgrade, I started to get "Security Information - This page contains both secure and nonsecure items. Do you want to continue?" at the login page. Once I am logged in, I get the same notification for every button/task that I do. What did I do wrong?
Sincerely,
Ronnie A. Tolentino

Do you know which files are not loading with HTTPS?
With any luck they are files you added and you can change them in the template to HTTPS.
If they are files added by APEX, then I'm not sure if there's a way to change it, but you could remove the substitution string that APEX adds and add the files directly to your template with HTTPS. It's not ideal and would need to revise those includes after each upgrade, but it would eliminate the error.
Or live with it. :-)
Thanks

• Impossible to get the Sun NS and XSD to validate my web.xml

Hello,
I'm having a problem getting the namespace and schema to validate my web.xml file. Three days ago, everythings were working fine, but since friday I can't get the XSD.
The top of my web.xml looks like this :
<web-app version="2.4" xmlns="http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/j2ee"
xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance"
xsi:schemaLocation="http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/j2ee http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/j2ee/web-app_2_4.xsd"
>When I try to validate my web.xml, I got error like this :
s4s-elt-character: Non-whitespace characters are allowed ...I've recently seen other topics like this, but I'm not sure it's the same issue.
Is it a known issue? What can I do to validate my web.xml? Are there mirrors for this XSD?
Best Regards.

• Xml, xsl and jsp

I used this code to create an xml file through an xsl:
<%@page import="javax.xml.transform.*,javax.xml.transform.stream.*,java.io.File,java.util.Properties" %>
<%
File fXml = new File("C:\\file.xml");
File fXsl = new File("C:\\file.xsl");
File fRes = new File("C:\\res.xml");
StreamSource xml = new StreamSource(fXml);
StreamSource xsl = new StreamSource(fXsl);
StreamResult res = new StreamResult(fRes);
TransformerFactory factory = TransformerFactory.newInstance();
Transformer transformer = factory.newTransformer(xsl);
transformer.transform(xml,res);
%>
but in the res.xml file i have:

instead of

what can i do to solve this problem?
thanks

I'm near to solution
i use
StringWriter resultStringWriter = new StringWriter();
StreamResult res = new StreamResult(resultStringWriter);
and then
transformer.transform(xml,res);
String str = resultStringWriter.toString();
this is my xsl:
<xsl:stylesheet version="1.1" xmlns:xsl="http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Transform">
<xsl:output method="text" indent="yes" encoding="ISO-8859-1"/>
<xsl:template match="XMLDATA">
<tag1><xsl:value-of select="CodiceAmministrazione"/></tag1>
</xsl:template>
</xsl:stylesheet>
but now the problem is the output:
\r\n<tag1>Test</tag1>\r\n
and not
<tag1>Test</tag1>
If I write the xsl on one line i have no problem
Can you help me please?
