XML Data Generator BUG???

Hi,
I've been experimenting with the XML Data Generator (a Data Web Bean) in Jdev 3.2.2, and no matter what attributes I choose to display from my View Object, the bean displays ALL attributes.
Is this a BUG or Operator Error on my part?

oops, I spoke too broadly -- the Flex example does work --
but it fails if you have any qualifiers in the tag, so for example,
this works:
<name>
<first>{firstName.text}</first>
<last>{lastName.text}</last>
</name>
and this works:
<name first="{firstName.text}" last ="{lastName.text}"
/>
but this does NOT work:
<name>
<first type="person">{firstName.text}</first>
<last type="person">{lastName.text}</last>
</name>
so it IS probably a bug in the parser that handles the XML
tags, upon seeing one qualifying field within the tag, it assumes
that all of the data will be presented in the same way, and there
will be no bound data between the tag.

  • Problem generating XML data file through XSD

    Hello there,
    I'm trying to generate an XML data file as per the below steps:
    Making a normal schema in query transform.
    Mapping desired source column into query schema.
    Right click on query transform and generating XML schema (XSD) in my local system.
    In object library XML file format adding the XSD with schema as a root element.
    Creating target instance from object library XML file.
    In target file specifying file creation path in my local system.
    After performing above steps and executing the job getting below error.
    Any help on this will be much appreciated.

  • Query with bind var created under apex to generate xml data

    Hi all;
    BiP: 10.1.3.4
    Apex: 4
    DB 10G
    Goal: want to generate a report by running a query with bind variables under apex.
    problem: when attempted to create a query under shared components in apex, at the downloading xml data stage, I always get "no data found" eror. Thus I can't save xml data for further report work. This only occurs when bind var involved. I have tticked "incl. session variables" and added the item but to no avail.
    Does anyone know how to do this and get the xml data to recive the bind variable ?
    Thanks.
    lulu

    To get the xml data, sql query has to return something. Why the sql is not returning anything can be better investigated outside the BI Publisher with special tool like SQL Developer or TOAD. There you have to run your query and make it working. One of the steps would be to try the sql without the parameter, see what data it brings back and go from there. One of possibilities why the parameter kills the output may be the NULL values involved, but you need to try the sql outside the BIP first.

  • Generate hierarchical xml data with xmlutilities ?

    hello
    I am just experimenting with the oracle xml utilities, because I
    want to set on http-services to access to our patient database.
    Is it possible to generate the following xml structure (ALL
    relevant diagnoses are hierarchically subordered to the ONE
    patient) when two tables (master table patient, dependent table
    diagnoses) are given ?
    <rowset>
    <row num=...>
    <name>smith</name>
    <diagnosis>
    <date> ...</date>
    <icd-code> ... </icd-code>
    <text> ... </text>
    </diagnosis>
    /*ev.further diagnosis*/
    </row>
    /*ev.further rows for further patients*/
    </rowset>
    By the moment, I have the impression that only list-similar xml
    data is possible.
    Thank You very much for comments.

    Hi ali,
    Yes, you can use the CAST(MULTISET()) operator to create a
    nested table of subordered diagnostic record and display it.
    (You need the objects option installed if you are using 8.0.
    With 8i, the objects options is included free)
    e.g.
    /* Create a regular type */
    CREATE TYPE diagnostic_type AS OBJECt
    diag_date NUMBER,
    icd_code NUMBER,
    /* etc... all the necessary diagnostic details.. */
    /* create a nested table type */
    CREATE TYPE diagnostic_list_t AS TABLE OF diagnostic_type;
    /* Now u can use this in any query */
    SELECT p.name AS name,
    CAST(MULTISET( SELECT d.diag_date, d.icd_code,...
    FROM diagnosis_table d
    WHERE d.patient_name = p.name)
    AS diagnostic_list_t) AS diagnosis
    FROM patient_table p;
    This query as u can see gets the name of the patient and then
    creates a nested table of diagnostic records for the patient.
    This assumes that for every patient there are more than 1
    diagnosis records.
    If you have only one diagnostic record per patient then u can
    simply write this as,
    SELECT p.name AS name,
    diagnostic_t(d.diag_date,d.icd_code,...) AS diagnosis
    FROM patient_table p, diagnostic_table d
    WHERE p.name = d.patient_name;
    Here u are just constructing a structured diagnosis type from
    the given values.
    Hope this helps,
    Murali

  • How to generate XML data from Lotus Notes to migrate to SharePoint by passing XML to SharePoint.?

    How to generate XML data from Lotus Notes to migrate to SharePoint by passing XML to SharePoint.?
    Ramesh S

    You could use XMLQuery to return the data from your tables as XML, that would give you a CLOB.
    An example using the SCOTT schema might be like this:
    SELECT XMLQuery(
             'for $i in ora:view("DEPT")/ROW
              return <Department dname="{$i/DNAME}">
                     <Employee>
                       {for $j in ora:view("EMP")/ROW
                        where $j/DEPTNO eq $i/DEPTNO
                        return ($j/ENAME, $j/JOB, $j/SAL)}
                     </Employee>
                     </Department>'
             RETURNING CONTENT) FROM DUAL;In the docs you can find more information about its use:

  • Using a SQL data source and XML data source in the same template

    I am trying to develop a template for the Request for Quote report generated in Apps 11.5.10. I have loaded the data from the XML output into the template, but I am missing one field - I need the org_id from the po_headers table. Is it possible to use a sql data source (i.e., "select org_id from po_headers_all where po_header_id = [insert header_id from xml data]...") in addition to the xml data source to populate the template at runtime? When you use the Insert > SQL functionality is it static at the time the template is created, or does it call to the database at runtime? I've looked through all the docs I could find, but this isn't clear.
    Thanks for any help or suggestions you may have.
    Rhonda

    Hi Pablo
    Thats a tough one ... if you go custom with a data template you will at least get support on the data template functionality ie you have a problem when you try and build one. You will not get support on the query inside the data template as you might have gotten with the Oracle Report, well you could at least log a bug against development for a bad query.
    Eventually that Oracle Report will be converted by development anyway, theres an R12 project going on right now to switch the shipped OReports to data templates. AT this point you'll be fully supported again but:
    1. You have to have R12 and
    2. You'll need to wait for the patch
    On reflection, if you are confident enough in the query then Oracle will support you on its implementation within a data template. Going forward you may be able to swap out your DT and out in the Oracle one without too much effort.

  • Data model editor cannot save samle XML data if data contains angle bracket

    BI Publisher can correctly query data containing angle brackets, and it produces well-formed XML in that case. Angle brackets are correctly coded as &lt and &gt. However, if you try to save the generated XML as sample XML for the data model, BI Publisher will issue the following error in its log:
    [2012-02-17T14:12:07.491-08:00] [AdminServer] [ERROR] [] [oracle.xdo] [tid: 30] [userId: <anonymous>] [ecid: 4d7950b0e2efed24:2a9da7a7:135894f9533:-8000-0000000000002f73,0] [APP: bipublisher#11.1.1] End tag does not match start tag '...'.
    where '...' would be any characters appearing between the open angle bracket and the close angle bracket. The sample XML data will not save, so you cannot open the report in the Desktop TemplateBuilder for Microsoft Word.
    Note that this bug is not fixed in the latest February patch for version 11.1.1.5.
    Edited by: 906888 on Feb 17, 2012 2:51 PM

    ok...tell me this, are you saying you are encoding the angle brackets or bi publisher is doing it automatically????
    With the data I worked, & (ampersands) were more predominant and I replaced the columns containing them with +& a m p ;+ (without spaces) and everything was fine....

  • Send to - Final Cut Pro XML data not seeing my Color render

    Sup folks,
    As always I did some lurking on these boards and consulted the manual about this issue.
    Nada.
    I've rendered my shots. They were all queued. They were all rendered.
    When I use the Send to -> Final Cut Pro command I get the "not all your clips were rendered" warning. I click yes to see what I will get.
    FCP imports the XML data and I get nothing. All of the clips in my FCP timeline generated through the Send to -> Final Cut Pro command are all of my original media prior to my color workflow. Not my graded Color renders.
    I did move my renders from a local drive to an external because of data capacity. After doing so I did update my Media, Render and Project paths to the new location of my media.
    I thought that would fix my problem. It didnt.
    So again: my issue is that even with my shots all rendered correctly (i checked them in QT) the XML being sent to FCP through the Send to -> Final Cut Pro command is not hooking up with my renders.
    Deadline tomorrow.
    As always,thanks for your time

    I did move my renders from a local drive to an external because of data capacity. After doing so I did >update my Media, Render and Project paths to the new location of my media.
    If I'm following the sequence correctly, you rendered your material to a local drive. Then you moved it, changed the paths (in COLOR), and then tried to "Send to... FCP". Is this correct? If so, doomed to failure. In your case, you may have even moved an empty folder.
    There is an ironclad and non-negotiable series of events in rendering and initiating the roundtrip. Many users regard this as a "bug". One of the first things that a user should always do is set up all the target paths before even doing the first grade. But it is essential that the target render path be set up PRIOR to loading the Render Queue. COLOR creates the receiving folder at that time, and that is where the media will go no matter what you do after the RenderQueue is loaded. Change the path, change the format... change whatever you want... the deal has been done, and all will be ignored. However, once the media is rendered and you choose Send To... FCP, then the original XML that FCP sent will be modified by COLOR and passed back to Final Cut. COLOR does NOT,repeat, NOT generate EDLs, XMLs, or any of that stuff. It only modifies original lists. That you modified the Media, Render and Project paths (probably only in the User Preferences tab) is meaningless once the project has been rendered. The Render path for this individual project is determined in the Project Settings pane, along with the render dimensions and format. However, COLOR will observe a path change AFTER the render, and edits the XML re-export to try to find the media in the newly named directory. Of course, your media is actually elsewhere, and you get a blank sequence.
    Lastly, make sure that you SAVE the project after renders, to retain the "rendered" clip status -- or COLOR won't remember any of this.

  • Edit/add XML data in BI Publisher

    Hi
    I have a java program that is generating an XML file that I am using as input for my BI publisher for PO report. However, I want to add some extra information(location addresses corresponding to location id) that is not there in the XML and I cannot edit the java program generating it. Is there any way I can do this in BI publisher? Can I edit/add XML data in BI publisher? This is really urgent and I appreciate any help.
    Thanks,
    Sharmila

    You have to edit the package which has the sql query,
    without fetching them in xml , you cannot display that.
    BIP will not help you to get that into report.
    The code which generates the XML data has to edited for sure..
    I guess, i helped one guy for similar requirement,
    i guess you are asking in the same report..
    the java program in turn calls the Pl/Sql package which generates the XML data and pass it to the Java Concurrent Program.
    The Pl/Sql package picks data from these views po_headers_xml, po_lines_xml, po_distribution_xml.
    you can also add the columns you want to be displayed in these views, and then change the template accordingly.

  • Print-time XML data update?

    We're researching our options to print artwork with dynamic (i.e. data driven) elements inline with our production process.  We have a packaging machine that has an integrated inline printer and we want to send print jobs that contain dynamic data such as part number, lot number, expiration date, description, etc.  In the past we have used barcoding and marking software for this as it's designed to be either autoamted by a third party application or to pull data from a database itself.  On this new project we're looking to deliver or more graphically rich result.  We thought InDesign with it's XML backed frames may be an interesting option to explore.
    Something like:
    Production management system (PMS) generats the backing XML file with the job specific data
    PMS then retrieves the appropriate InDesign template file for the product being produced
    PMS prints the InDesign template file and the XML data is pulled in
    Keep in mind that workflow is based on reading the product specs and a few blog posts about InDesign, we are NOT InDesign users (yet).  There are a couple areas I see problems and I wanted to ask the community if you happen to know if they are real issues or not.
    I suspect we would need a full InDesign license on the PMS system in order to print the ID template files.  We would want to make tis all command line if possible, we don't want a tech to use InDesign but still I think a license would be needed, even just for printing.  Update:  I have since found InDesign Server and it sounds like it may be an option for this concern.
    If command line printing IS an option, will such an operation cause the template to pull in the XML data that was generated by the PMS?  In other words, the PMS generates an XML file in a location that the InDesign template is expecting, will InDesign pull in that data when the file is sent to the printer?
    Actually, is it even possible to command line print an InDesign template file or do we need to go through a pre-print processing stage to generate a PDF or some other file?
    I hope that these questions aren't too vague and that you understand what we're hoping to accomplish.
    Regards,
    Steve
