Using a SQL data source and XML data source in the same template
I am trying to develop a template for the Request for Quote report generated in Apps 11.5.10. I have loaded the data from the XML output into the template, but I am missing one field - I need the org_id from the po_headers table. Is it possible to use a sql data source (i.e., "select org_id from po_headers_all where po_header_id = [insert header_id from xml data]...") in addition to the xml data source to populate the template at runtime? When you use the Insert > SQL functionality is it static at the time the template is created, or does it call to the database at runtime? I've looked through all the docs I could find, but this isn't clear.
Thanks for any help or suggestions you may have.
Rhonda
Hi Pablo
Thats a tough one ... if you go custom with a data template you will at least get support on the data template functionality ie you have a problem when you try and build one. You will not get support on the query inside the data template as you might have gotten with the Oracle Report, well you could at least log a bug against development for a bad query.
Eventually that Oracle Report will be converted by development anyway, theres an R12 project going on right now to switch the shipped OReports to data templates. AT this point you'll be fully supported again but:
1. You have to have R12 and
2. You'll need to wait for the patch
On reflection, if you are confident enough in the query then Oracle will support you on its implementation within a data template. Going forward you may be able to swap out your DT and out in the Oracle one without too much effort.

How to create a linked data source with document libraries based on the same template?
I use SharePoint Foundation 2013, SP Designer and Visual Studio 2013 to my needs. But there are several things which i don't get.
I have a number of libraries which use the same template. I want to create a linked data source, that would contain them all, and if I add a library based on this template, the library would be added to the data sorce. Is it possible?
I tried creating linked data souces, but the view that it brings by default is limited(no sorting, etc.). How can it be modified?I am planning to do my project on Linux with J2EE,Oracle technologies. You don't need to set up a DSN. Just use a JDBC connect string such as jdbc:oracle:thin:@localhost:1521:xe

Reference Library for Converting Between LabVIEW and XML Data (GXML)
Please provide feedback, comments and questions on the Reference Library for Converting Between LabVIEW and XML Data (GXML) in this thread.
The latest version of the NI GXML Library is availble in VIPM on the NI LabVIEW Tools Network repository.Francesco, Thank you for the feedback. With this component it was my intention to make a more "terse" version of the LabVIEW Flatten to XML VI that was also supported on RT and that gave the user more flexbility regarding the structure of the parsing type definition. I think you are right that the XML parser is not compliant to section 2.11 of the XML spec. The parser does specifically looking for a #D#A and this appears to be an oversight on my part. Please confirm for me, the specifcation is saying that the XML parser should be able to recognize three possibilities as an "end of line" character: #D#A, #D, or #A. Am I reading this right? There are more efficient (and in some cases much more efficient) ways of sharing data between LabVIEW and LabVIEW: some examples are flattened binary strings and the datalog binary format. XML is slower than these optons but the upside is that it is human readable. Furthermore XML is inherently hierarchical which is convenient for complex data structures like clusters of arrays of clusters, etc. If you don't care about human readability then you are correct XML doesn't make as much sense.I will return to the GXML source code and try to fix this in the near future but I would hope that instead of creating yet another custom VI from scratch that you could reuse what I have provided for you. I included enough documentation in the source code so that users could make some modificiations themselves. The target application for this reference library was LabVIEW to LabVIEW communication. As such I documented the schema on the dev zone document from a LabVIEW perspective. It includes all the supported datatypes and all the supported data structures (cluters, arrays, multidimensional arrays, clusters of multidimensional arrays, etc.) I do see some value in making a more conventional XML spec but the time investment required didn't really line up with my intended use case. Were there any other downsides to GXML that I have missed? Best Regards, Jeff TippsSystems Engineer - Sound and VibrationMessage Edited by Jeff T. on 04-21-2010 10:09 AM

Re: [SunONE-JATO] Re: Using an object to store and display data
Personally, I think there is little or no value to creating a "domain"
object that itself relies on a JATO QueryModel internally, but hides that
fact and requires use of BeanAdapterModel.
It would be more appropriate (and much less work, and more scalable) to just
derive a QueryModel subclass and add the domain-specific behavior to the
model. In other words, what's the point of creating an object that hides
JATO inside it when you're running in JATO to begin with? Now if the domain
object were doing plain JDBC, and thus trying to be JATO independent, that
would be different. However, you could still implement the Model interface
on the object (or use BeanAdapterModel) to integrate it seamlessly with the
View tier.

Craig,
I think it all finally makes sense. First, your assumption is
correct regarding the process flow. The ViewBean will interact with
a custom Javabean which will then in turn interact with a SQL Model
to access the database. So now let me make sure I understand what I
need to do. Basically the custom Javabean will have a method to get
the SQLModel. I would then invoke the setValue method on the
SQLModel and call the appropriate execute method( e.g.,
executeUpdate, etc. ) just like I would do from a ViewBean. Does
this sound correct?
Thanks,
Greg

Not sure what you mean by "interface this BeanAdapterModel ... witha
query model". Does this mean that you have a ViewBean the interactswith
a custom JavaBean via the BeanAdpterModel wrapper, and from the
JavaBean you are interacting with the SQL Model?
So it looks like this: ViewBean > BeanAdapterModel(Custom JavaBean)
SQL Model > RDBMS
That's what I am reading anyway. Please explain this to me.
Would I need to make direct JDBC calls
from my custom model instead of letting JATO dynamically create
the
calls for me?
If my assumptions above are correct, then the custom JavaBean cansimply
use the SQL Model in exactly the same manner as the ViewBean, otherwise,
if no SQL Model is involved, then yes, you need to handle JDBCdirectly,
which is fine, if you do it "right" (connection pooling, result set
handling, etc.).
Thanks,
Greg

Spry Tables and Xml Data Sets viewed in IE7
Has anyone ever run into a problem with Spry Tables and Xml
Data Sets viewed in IE7? Work fine in IE6 and Firefox, but get the
error "exception caught while loading feed.xml: [object Error]" in
IE 7. Any ideas?
Attached is the xml I'm using.
ThanksI came looking for the answer to this question. I could not
find an answer. Eventually I found it the answer that worked for
me, a graphic designer with not much experience in xml.
The following url provided an errata file in PDF format:
www.peachpit.com/dwcs3cib
which includes the following addendum to the incomplete
instructions in the book i was using to learn about spry:
"If Internet Explorer 7 is your primary browser, you'll nee
to take some extra steps to view spry dynamic content locally.
First, your site must be within the local server webroot; be sure
your Lessons folder is stored within the Inetpub>wwwroot folder.
Next, double-click the site name in the files panel to open the
Site Definition dialogue. Click the Testing Server category; from
the Access List choose Local/Network. Click Okay to close the Site
Definition dialogue. Now, when you preview your page with Internet
Explorer, your local Web server (localhost) serves the page as
designed."
Horray for me! Now i can move on from here and actually get
some work done! -
File Server Migration Source and Target Data Validation
Does anyone know of a power shell script/CLI command or some other way to verify source and target data after a file server migration? I want to make sure that the shares that are migrated from the source and target are an exact match. Thank
you.Hi,
An example is provided in this article:
http://blogs.technet.com/b/heyscriptingguy/archive/2011/10/08/easily-compare-two-folders-by-using-powershell.aspx
$fso = Get-ChildItem -Recurse -path C:\fso
$fsoBU = Get-ChildItem -Recurse -path C:\fso_BackUp
Compare-Object -ReferenceObject $fso -DifferenceObject $fsoBU
And actually Robocopy could also do this job with /L and /log:file parameter.

How do you use Non-destructive filter with Nested XML data?
I am using the non-destructive filter sample with my own xml which is setup to search for the <smc></smcs> in my xml below. But when i test it it only searches the last row of the "smc". How can i make it work so it can search for repeating nodes? or does it have something to with how my xml is setup?

thank you!I apologize, im using Spry XML Data Set. i guess the best way to describe what im trying to do is, i want to use the Non-desctructive filter sample with the Spry Nested XML Data sample. So with my sample xml on my first post and with the same code non-destructive filter is using, im having trouble trying to search repeating nodes, for some reason it only searches the last node of the repeating nodes. Does that make sense? let me know.

SQL Functions to Update XML Data
Hi,
Can anybody please tell me whether SQL Functions to Update XML Data (such as updateXML, insertChildXML, insertXMLbefore etc) are available with oracle 9i or not?
Please tell me.You can also do a describe on SYS.XMLTYPE to see what methods are supported in your release. How would you find e.g. insertChildXML in DESC sys.xmltype? I suppose it is not a Method of the Type: Summary of XMLType Subprograms.

Can I unlock an old, unused iPhone 3GS (to be used overseas with a local simcard) and upload on it data from a newer iPhone 4 on the same MacBook Pro?
I got approval to unlock my 3GS from AT&T and in the process of updating the operating system. I am now using a iPhone 4 on my computer. I just want to know the following:
When I backup and restore the 3GS in order to unlock it, will it mess up my existing data backed up from my iPhone 4?
Can I upload data from my newer iPhone 4 onto my 3GS? -
How to make a Infocube as data source and upload data? urgent
Hi all,
I have 2 same InfoCubes, and I want to make the test InfoCube(ZCO_1T) as data source and upload data to another Cube(ZCO_1), Now I has Generated Export DataSource on ZCO_1T and create a update rule between ZCO_1T and ZCO_1. what will I do the next step? Thanks.hi delve,
once u generate datasource from test cube it acts as an data source for further upload.
now u choose update target3.x in additional functions in context menu of the test cube.
u will get an infopackage pop up with data target to the cube ZCO_1,processing to datatarget only.
selection criterion can bve selected from the first tab.
under schedule tab you can start extraction.

My iPad Air always freezes during FaceTime calls using wifi. I switch to my iPhone 5c on the same wifi, and it never freezes while I'm sitting in the same location. Is there maybe a setting I have that is causes this? I am up to date on the OS 7.1.1. Video and audio is froze on my end, only video freezes on the other end. It doesn't make a difference who makes the call either.
No, there isn't any setting that you are missing. Have you tried force closing FaceTime, and resetting your iPad?
In order to close FaceTime, you have to drag the app up from the multitasking display. Double tap the home button and you will see apps lined up going left to right across the screen. Swipe to get to the app that you want to close and then swipe "up" on the app preview thumbnail to close it.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.
If that does not make a difference, you could try resetting all settings, if you reset all settings you will have to enter all of the device preferences again in the settings app. That takes some time to accomplish, but you will not lose my data, media, apps or anything like that. Settings>General>Reset>Reset all settings.
If that doesn't help, the next step would be to restore the iOS software. Backup your iPad first, restore the iOS, then restore the backup.
Use iTunes to restore your iOS device to factory settings -
What is open data set and close data set
what is open data set and close data set,
how to use the files in sap directories ?hi,
Open Dataset is used to read or write on to application server ... other than that i am not sure that there exists any way to do the same ... here is a short description for that
FILE HANDLING IN SAP
Introduction
Files on application server are sequential files.
Files on presentation server / workstation are local files.
A sequential file is also called a dataset.
Handling of Sequential file
Three steps are involved in sequential file handling
OPEN
PROCESS
CLOSE
Here processing of file can be READING a file or WRITING on to a file.
OPEN FILE
Before data can be processed, a file needs to be opened.
After processing file is closed.
Syntax:
OPEN DATASET <file name> FOR {OUTPUT/INPUT/APPENDING}
IN {TEXT/BINARY} MODE
This statement returns SY_SUBRC as 0 for successful opening of file or 8, if unsuccessful.
OUTPUT: Opens the file for writing. If the dataset already exists, this will place the cursor at the start of the dataset, the old contents get deleted at the end of the program or when the CLOSE DATASET is encountered.
INPUT: Opens a file for READ and places the cursor at the beginning of the file.
FOR APPENDING: Opens the file for writing and places the cursor at the end of file. If the file does not exist, it is generated.
BINARY MODE: The READ or TRANSFER will be character wise. Each time n characters are READ or transferred. The next READ or TRANSFER will start from the next character position and not on the next line.
IN TEXT MODE: The READ or TRANSFER will start at the beginning of a new line each time. If for READ, the destination is shorter than the source, it gets truncated. If destination is longer, then it is padded with spaces.
Defaults: If nothing is mentioned, then defaults are FOR INPUT and in BINARY MODE.
PROCESS FILE:
Processing a file involves READing the file or Writing on to file TRANSFER.
TRANSFER Statement
Syntax:
TRANSFER <field> TO <file name>.
<Field> can also be a field string / work area / DDIC structure.
Each transfer statement writes a statement to the dataset. In binary mode, it writes the length of the field to the dataset. In text mode, it writes one line to the dataset.
If the file is not already open, TRANSFER tries to OPEN file FOR OUTPUT (IN BINARY MODE) or using the last OPEN DATASET statement for this file.
IF FILE HANDLING, TRANSFER IS THE ONLY STATEMENT WHICH DOES NOT RETURN SY-SUBRC
READ Statement
Syntax:
READ DATASET <file name> INTO <field>.
<Field> can also be a field string / work area / DDIC structure.
Each READ will get one record from the dataset. In binary mode it reads the length of the field and in text mode it reads each line.
CLOSE FILE:
The program will close all sequential files, which are open at the end of the program. However, it is a good programming practice to explicitly close all the datasets that were opened.
Syntax:
CLOSE DATASET <file name>.
SY-SUBRC will be set to 0 or 8 depending on whether the CLOSE is successful or not.
DELETE FILE:
A dataset can be deleted.
Syntax:
DELETE DATASET <file name>.
SY-SUBRC will be set to 0 or 8 depending on whether the DELETE is successful or not.
Pseudo logic for processing the sequential files:
For reading:
Open dataset for input in a particular mode.
Start DO loop.
Read dataset into a field.
If READ is not successful.
Exit the loop.
Endif.
Do relevant processing for that record.
End the do loop.
Close the dataset.
For writing:
Open dataset for output / Appending in a particular mode.
Populate the field that is to be transferred.
TRANSFER the filed to a dataset.
Close the dataset.

Difference between Realtime Data Acqisition and Direct Data Access ?
Hi experts,
What is RDA and DDA and whrere these two are used ?
What is the Difference between Realtime Data Acqisition and Direct Data Access?
Please explain me in a detail manner, i will assign points for ur valuable answers..............Hi,
Eventhough the aim of the two methods are to report on the latest data, there is a difference in both.
In Realtime Data Acqisition you are loading the data into BW and then reporting on that data from BW Infoproviders.

I think you are refering to Virtual providers by the term Direct Data Access. In Direct Data Access you are not loading data into BW. Data is residing in R/3 itself. Your reports will fetch data from R/3 directly. The data is called during execution of a query in the source system.
