XML file containing an ISO-8859-1encoded string not able to see charcater

We have an XML file with the following encoding:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="ISO-8859-1"?>
The Oracle 10gR2 database is set with the following encoding.
PARAMETER VALUE
NLS_NCHAR_CHARACTERSET AL16UTF16
NLS_CHARACTERSET WE8ISO8859P1
There are some characters that are not displaying within SQL Developer, how do I diagnose this as a database or a client issue?

Guys, why nobody takes care of at least telling us what characters you cannot see. You describe two random elements of the whole application and expect people to give reasonable answers. Please, read through this forum a bit and you will see how many configuration elements may matter. Then, take some time to describe your problem, including version of software, exact (!) symptoms of the problem, etc. Otherwise, you can just get some guesses instead of a solution!

• I bucked up my files with Time Machine, but I am not able to see my pictures from the external hard drive

Hi all,
When I open the iphoto library in my hard drive, its says that I have to open iphotos with the "control" option. So I did it and opened a "different library" and try again to do it from the extrenal drive, but again, its says the same thing. Please help! I would like to be sure all my back ups pictures are there and be able to watch them
Thanks in advance!

A Time Machine backup of the iPhoto Library is not useabel by iPhoto until you Restore it with Time Machine. To restore the library go into Time Machine, go to the date you want, located your Pictures folder, select the library and use the Restore button.
Be warned that this will overwrite your current library so if it's just a test select Save Both in the window that comes up.

• Flat file transformation to xml with encoding in iso-8859-1

We have a BPEL process that picks up a flat fle (fixed length), transforms it to xml and emails it. The flat file is in iso-8859-1 (when I look at special characters like e-accent's in hex).
The basic transformation that you get from (the wizards) of BPEL don't do the trick, the special characters are corrupted and unreadable.
After that I changed all the encoding's (in xsd's and xsl's) from utf-8 into iso-8859-1 but doesn't help either. I also added an xsl:output section to my xsl (with "encoding="iso-8859-1") but that also fails...
Does anyone have a clue? We're using SOA Suite 10.1.3.1.
greetings,
Jan

just tried that but the problem is still there
I suspect that the output of the file adapter (reading the flat file) is already corrupted, you should be able to tell the file adapter what encoding the input file is...

• ESB/File Adapter - XML files containing multiple messages

Hi,
In all the examples on file adapters I read, if files contain multiple messages, it always concerns non-XML files, such as CSV files.
In our case, we have an XML file containing multiple messages, which we want to process separately (not in a batch). We selected "Files contain Multiple Messages" and set "Publish Messages in Batches of" to 1.
However, the OC4J log files show the following error:
ORABPEL-12505
Payload Record Element is not DOM source.
The Resource Adapter sent a Message to the Adapter Framework which could not be converted to a org.w3c.dom.Element.
Anyone knows whether it's possible to do this for XML files?
Regards, Ronald

Maybe I need to give a little bit more background info.
Ideally, one would only read/pick-up small XML documents in which every XML document forms a single message. In that way they can be processed individually.
However, in our case an external party supplies multiple messages in a single batch-file, which is in XML format. I want to "work" on individual messages as soon as possible and not put a huge batch file through our ESB and BPEL processes. Unfortunately we can not influence the way the XML file is supplied, since we are not the only subscriber to it.
So yes, we can use XPath to extract all individual messages from the XML batch-file and start a ESB process instance for each individual message. But that would require the creation of another ESB or BPEL process which only task is to "chop up" the batch file and start the original ESB process for each message.
I was hoping that the batch option in the File adapter could also do this for XML content and not only for e.g. CSV content. That way it will not require an additional process and manual coding.
Can anyone confirm this is not supported in ESB?
Regards,
Ronald

• Encoding ISO-8859-1 String

I have a code, i want to decode iso88591string, but i got a $=?=f?se;rng;?;
Is any sugestions how to convert iso8859-1 to windows 1257, Thanks
public static void main(String[] args)
String isoString= new String("$=Ū=fżse;rng;Ż;");
byte[] stringBytesIso;
try
stringBytesIso = isoString.getBytes("ISO-8859-1");
String utf8String = new String(stringBytesIso, "windows-1257");
System.out.print(stringBytesIso+" "+utf8String);
catch (UnsupportedEncodingException e) { e.printStackTrace();}
}

Were you expecting Java to magically convert "Ū" into some character?
Doesn't work that way.I agreed. What you need is a diacritic mapping. Unfortunately, there's no easy way of doing the mapping.
on solution is to have a HashMap where
key = character above 256
value=similiar character to Window ASCII extended
anything less than 256, you don't need to convert
also, looks for patterns to reduce the diacritic mapping hashmap.

The XML format Premiere uses is not supported in FCPX. The only way I know of that may work is to go through FCP7 and then use 7toX to get to FCPX.

• BI Publisher: not able to see the xml data after creating a data model

Hi karthik
Thanks for your response
Actually iam a beginner in java coding hence struggling to come up with the things
I tried putting your code and onserver side i see it is returning 09:12:17,234 INFO [STDOUT] [root: null]
actually the same program i wrote in java
and the same method i was calling from the main
and it is working fine and the xml document is getting displayed one important thing to be noted here is that the factory.newDocumentBuilder().parse(new File(filename));is returing XmlDocument
and the printing takes place
but the in same method public static Document parseXMLFile(String filename, boolean b) in servlet
the line factory.newDocumentBuilder().parse(new File(filename)); is returning DeferredDocumentImpl
and this creating problem , had it returned XmlDocument
i would have printed the elements one one
but as it is returning deferredimpl
iam unable to print the elements
could you please tell me why factory.newDocumentBuilder().parse(new File(filename)); is returning DeferredDocumentImpl
in servlets but in plain java pogram it is returing XmlDocument
Thanks

Hi,
>>>AL11 directories output XML file contains half of the payload
the file is there in full it's just a limitation of AL11 that you cannot
get the whole of it
go to the folder of the server directly or write a small program to get the file
and you will have it in full AL11 will not work - sorry

• File Monitoring - Not able to see File Path on the Detail Information Tab

Hi Experts:
I am setting up the "File Monitoring" in the Solution Manager. I am having STA/PI01L_CRM570 on the Solution Manager.
And on the Satelite System - ECC I have STA/PI 01L_ECC600
While I am setting up the parameters, I am supposed to provide the file path in "Detail Information" tab page.
But I am just able to see two tabs:
Count    and Short Text (optional).
I checked all the other tab but not able to locate where I need to provide the file path.
Can any one let me know, If I am missing anything or do I need to do any further steps.
Similarly for the File Size setting:
I am not able to see where I can define The parameter "File Pattern (e.g. *.log, *.txt or any string)" is mandatory.
Pls let me know.
Regards
John

Hello Johns,
You can find the FilePath in the 'Detail Information' tab if you double click the initial and predefined counter 001.

• Not able to see iby_fd_extract_ext_pub custom tags of in XML data

Hi Experts,
I have customized the iby_fd_extract_ext_pub package to add the custom tags in the payment format xml data.Package status is valid but I am not able to see any of the custom element in the XML Data.
Please share your experience if you faced similar issue.
Regards,
Brajesh

1. Do not prefix it just put your code in and compile - unless you want to call XX_IBY_FD_EXTRACT_EXT_PUB from IBY_FD_EXTRACT_EXT_PUB to have minimal impact to IBY_FD_EXTRACT_EXT_PUB.
2. You won't be able to put in an additional parameter, you'll need to derive the Payment Process Profile from SQL by linking from payment document to payment process to payment process profile; or just get the org from, say, the first invoice in the batch - as long as you always group by organization this will be fine.
3. Yes, it is probably that a patch will overwrite your customization - make sure you test it after each IBY patch - use applcust.txt and make sure your DBA's check adpatch logs for the file being overwritten!

• Not able to see the content of opened files (.jpg or .psd) in Photoshop CS6

I recently downloaded Adobe Design and Web Premium CS6. I am not able to see the content of any of the file I open (.psd or .jpg). I do see the file has been opened as the file name appears on the open file tabs, I also see the preview of the file in the Navigator Window and list of layers in the layers window. I am relatively new to this so might be missing on some option that needs to be turned on or something.
I am using Window 7 Professional, Service Pack 1, with 8GB RAM.
Any suggesstion/help is greatly appreciated.

This is going to be the weak point:
Intel(R) HD Graphics card
While the Intel HD chip is fine for general computer work, it is weak for programs, like Photoshop and Adobe Premiere. The driver support is usually very bad, as well. If Lenovo does not have updated drivers, that work better, about the only choice that one has with a laptop is to turn OFF graphics accleration, and wait for a new driver. That will probably be very slow in coming.
Good luck,
Hunt
PS - Noel's link will list what you are missing.

I have added Open in browser add ons in Firefox browser, but still not able to see the .shtml files on local machine.
Can any one please tell me how to view .shtml files in Firefox?

SHTML files are regular HTML files that make use of Server-Side Includes. In some server configurations, the special file extension is required to instruct the server to parse the file for SSI code.
If Firefox doesn't recognize the file type, it is likely the MIME type is incorrect.

• Ipod as hard disk - Why am I not able to see the whole file?

I'm using my 80 gig 5th gen ipod as a hard disk for the first time. I've dragged a 32 KB text file to the ipod. When I scroll though the file all is great...but I'm not able to see the whole file? It's like I get one page and that's all. Any ideas to help me?

Do you mean the Notes function? If so, the file size per note is, I believe, 4k. Therefore, you'd need to break up a 32k file into several parts or it will be truncated.

• 9.3.1- Not able to see more than 1 errors in application.log file

Hi,
In 9.3.1. version, I am not able to see more than 1 errors in application.log file during dataload without rules files.
If anybody has faced this solution, pls let me know the cause.
Thanks
jazz

Hey Jazz,
in the first row add a rule file with no load file change the path to what you want. then insert a new row add your load file here. it should have the path from the previous row in the error file. Then delete the first row and run. I had to do this for a level zero load and was the only thing I could figure out so far
