XML in EJB
Hello all.
I need to use xml file in EJB (there are some properties in it) and i need to store it directly in EJB module.
How can I do this?
Create an XSD compile it to java objects using XMLBeans, and use these objects inside the EJB. Parse the XML document using Java objects and use the javaBeans-style get/set methods for reading XML data.

Hibernate *.hbm.xml to EJB 3 conversion
Is there any plan to offer conversion from *.hbm.xml to EJB 3 annotation project in Workshop studio?
This feature request has been logged for future reference.
In the mean time you can still migrate from hibernate to EJB3 using "Generate EJB3 Mapping" from Java class
- Create EJB3 persistent application
- copy all the POJOs from hibernate application
- Open persistence.xml and define connection properties
- Launch Entities editor and using "Generate EJB3 Mapping" from java class and annotate POJOs -
Stateless session Bean - xml and ejb-jar.xml file ???
Dear Experts,
Stateless-session bean
For Creating an ear file
we need ejb-jar.xml and weblogic-ejb-jar.xml files
Is these files are already available
or we have to type these files ??
Advance Thanks
Rengaraj.RMy best advice: surrender to use an IDE.
You wonder sometimes at how much productivity (read as 'time') could be wasted by doing something that could be done automatically. For a learning experience or a once only exercise is fine but as a routine thing, not worth it.

Deploying persistence.xml in ejb-jar componts
Hi,
If you are deploying ejb-jar components which are packaged independently and are remote components but they all access the same database, do you put the persistence.xml in the META-INF of each component (ejb-jar). If not, where would it go?
I can find lots of references to having a single persistence.xml with many configurations but if (theoretically) each bean is deployed on a separate JVM/Container how would it access the persistence.xml?
Thanks.If you are deploying the EJB JARs to different Java EE servers, then yes, each EJB JAR needs its own persistence.xml. You would configure each Java EE server to point to the same JDBC resource.
If you are deploying them all to the same server, you should package the entity classes into a single JAR file, and include that JAR file in an EAR with the other EJB JARs. In that scenario, persistence.xml is in the JAR's META-INF directory. The JAR file can either be in the top-level of the EAR, or in the EAR's library directory. In this case, the scope of the persistence unit is the entire EAR.

hi,
i have a question:
i want to set an ejb env entry value to .
in the ejb-jar.xml i wrap it into , and it
works.
In the console the pure string appears.
as i want to edit it to x i receive an exception,
wouldn't it be more correctly if the console wraps all
string values into ?
Is there some other way to store an xml snippet for configuration purpose?
best regards
bernhardHi.
You might try posting this on the ejb newsgroup.

Using JMX to read ejb manifest jar and ejb-jar.xml in ejb jar inside ear
Hello,
I have an ear deployed on weblogic console. I need to check contents of manifest file and ejb-jar.xml of a jar that is present in the deployed ear.
Currently I am using below code to access jar inside ear deployed :
Hashtable env = new Hashtable(5);
env.put(Context.INITIAL_CONTEXT_FACTORY,
"weblogic.jndi.WLInitialContextFactory");
env.put(Context.PROVIDER_URL,
url);
env.put(Context.SECURITY_PRINCIPAL, user);
env.put(Context.SECURITY_CREDENTIALS, password);
Context ctx = new InitialContext(env);
mBeanHome = (MBeanHome)ctx.lookup(MBeanHome.ADMIN_JNDI_NAME);
String type = "EJBComponentRuntime";
Set beans = mBeanHome.getMBeansByType(type);
try{
for(Iterator it=beans.iterator();it.hasNext();)
EJBComponentRuntimeMBean rt = (EJBComponentRuntimeMBean)it.next();
if(rt.getParent().getName().equals("xxx")){
System.out.println(rt.getName());
l.add(rt.getName());
Here xxx is the ear. Now I need to get inside the jar (represented) by variable rt and access its manifest file,ejb-jar.xml
Does anyone have an idea how to do this?

SameerIsn't it possible to put them there manually? :)

Web.xml question -- ejb-ref
Can anyone explain the reasons for using the <ejb-ref> tag in the web.xml file?
Currently, I have a context-param that matches a param-name to a param-value. My code looks up the param-value and, via JNDI, gets the EJB referenced.
Does the <ejb-ref> tag provide an easier, more standard method for doing this or is it there just to show that particular EJB is referenced?
Any information would be very helpful.Thanks, but this makes no sense to me. Why should a
web app be different than any other app? Why make a
special tag?
Is this tag required? Is it possible to use an EJB
without it or is this someone required?Your webapp can access the ejb without this tag at all but using its jndi name. This tag (<ejb-ref>) is just a standard way of accessing ejb's within the webapp.
For eg. consider this WEB.XML,
<ejb-ref>

Reference to DEPT bean

<ejb-ref-name>EJB-DeptRecord</ejb-ref-name>
<ejb-ref-type>Entity</ejb-ref-type>
<home>com.test.DeptHome</home>
<remote>com.test.DeptRemote</remote>
</ejb-ref>
You can lookup like this using the ejb-reference name.
Context ctx = new InitialContext();
Object obj = ctx.lookup("java:comp/env/EJB-DeptRecord"); <-------
Since JNDI names usually have directory structure (eg. /test/ejb/..),
this ejb-ref tag provides a convenient way to do the lookup without the jndi-name cluttering up your code. -

Weblogic-cmp-jar.xml and EJB 1.1
I am working on migrating a number of components from JBoss to WebLogic 10. Some of these components are using EJB 1.1. I want to do the migration without having to updated to EJB 2.0 or EJB 3.0.
I have looked at the documentation for WebLogic 10 and understand that you need to use weblogic-cmp-jar.xml when using EJB 1.1. The problem is that I can not find an example of the weblogic-cmp-jar.xml. The documentation doesn't appear to fully document what the xml needs to look like.
Would someone be able to provide me with a simple example of the weblogic-cmp-jar.xml for use with EJB 1.1?

Ashish.I thought you were getting a class cast exception but the stack trace shows
a NullPointerException on line 38 of your servlet code. I am not sure if the
code that you have attached is the complete code or just snippets of your
complete code. Anyways, counting 38 lines in the code you attached points to
the line "mr =
mh.create(request.getParameter("login"),request.getParameter("name"));"
which could be because "mh" is null. Can you verify "mh" is not null and
also "objRef" is not null.
Attaching the stack trace for ClassCastException would be useful.

How will be the weblogic-ejb-jar and ejb-jar xml for EJB Local Interface?
Hi,
I have one ear application which is using Stateless Session Beans. I don't have any Bean to Bean communication . At present, the client is invoking remote methods thro Home/Remote interfaces. My doubt is , shall I implement EJBLocal home/ local interface to obtain this same functionality cos, in this app, both client and EJb bean have been deployed in same JVM. Can Local interfaces only be applicable to Bean - Bean relation ship?If LocalHome/Local interfaces can be implemented in my scenario, then may I know how will be the ejb-jar.xml and weblogic-ejb-jar.xml?
thanks and regards,
Venkat.Local interfaces are for communication between ejbs and their clients when both are in the same JVM. The clients can be normal clients, jsps, servlets, and other ejbs. If the client is not in the same JVM you cannot use local interfaces even though your client is another ejb.
Advantage of using local interface is it reduces the network overhead.
For more information you can download Mastering Enterprise Java Beans Third Edition by Ed Roman. You can go through 45
You can download pdf version from.

hi,
i want to know if the following is possible using EJB and XML.
using HTML/javascript, a form has been created. now the user makes selections using the form. i want to create a XML file that encapsulates the user selections ie this XML file should contain the selections made by the user. this XML file should also automatically change whenever the user makes new selections on the HTML form.
someone suggested me that Beans are the best option to use. can u guide me on how to proceed using Beans.
thanks in advance.Why not use a JSP? Much quicker.
(When someone suggested you use Beans, I doubt they meant Enterprise Beans - cf. SledgeHammer vs Nut). -

http://download-west.oracle.com/otn_hosted_doc/toplink/1013/MAIN/_pdf/b13593_v1_01.pdf
The exception though seems to indicate that your orion-ejb-jar.xml contains EJBs mapped to the same table that are not related through EJB inheritance. I do it all the time with POJOs so this will work in TopLink, but you will need a support case to help get your project migrated if this is the case.

Weblogic 10.3.0 Deployment error when using ejb-jar.xml
Hi,
I am getting the following error while deploying my EJB3 application on Weblogic 10.3.0. This is happening only if I include ejb-jar.xml.
As per the EJB3 descriptor spec, Remote Home or Local home are not exists.
Is this a issue in Weblogic 10.3.0 or am I missing any special setup ?
Please help.
