XML Newbie - Help Processing Files!
I'm not exactly sure if "process" is the right word, so I'll describe what I mean. There are two XML files (http://xml.pinnaclesports.com/xmlfeed.asp and http://208.138.39.112/XMLLineFiles/Baseball.xml) that are constantly updated online, and I want to be able to compare certain numbers in the two files.
Problem is, I really have no clue where to begin. I've heard that you can import XML into Microsoft Excel, but it can only refresh once every minute. Ideally I'd be able to compare the files almost constantly (like every 5 seconds or something). What are my other options? I don't really know any computer programming (besides a minimal amount of C), so I would really appreciate any help, just pointing me in the right direction.
Thanks for any help!
Your best option would be to hire a programmer to do that work.
It's possible you could spend a few months learning the skills, but why bother when you could hire a programmer who could get it done in a day?
By the way, refreshing once every minute is what you want to do, not every five seconds. Besides the fact that it took me at least 15 seconds just to download those two pages, one of them says
"2. Do not read the feed more than one times per minute."

I have an assignment that involves using Java to parse the info on one text file and output to another text file with a header row and a data row both of which need to be tab delimited. I'm relatively new to Java and I'm having a hard time even starting this thing. Any help would be greatly appreciated. The file I have to read from is similar to this:
Report: Fake Report for Fake Loans
Report ID: 000001
Run Date: 04/25/2007
Office Number ID Number DelqMessage
033 000101000 N
034 001234875 Y
035 123456789 N
I would essentially need to get all the field names into the header row and the data in the row below it.
Thanks in advance.I have been working on this and I almost have it working correctly. I was able to selectively pull the info I need from the original file and I can output to the new file in a vertical form. The last step is to output a header that says RunDate Office Loan DelqMessage with a tab delimiter. I than have to compile the data and output in rows under the header also in tab delimited format. I think I'm right there but I still get one error I cannot resolve of:
Error: java.lang.StringIndexOutOfBoundsException: String index out of range: 4
It is very vague and I have tried everything I can think of to locate the issue so it can be debugged. Below is a copy of the file I'm trying to parse followed by what I have for code so far. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Sample of report:
Report: Fake Report for Fake Loans
Report ID: 000001
Run Date: 04/25/2007

Hi everybody,
I have a strange problem with Mount-DiskImage command.
Environment: Windows server 2012 without any updates.
All scripts signed as it was in Hanselman's blogpost
http://www.hanselman.com/blog/SigningPowerShellScripts.aspx
First script(script1) executing on one machine (server1), then copy another script(script2) to the remote server(server2) and run script2 in a PS-Session. Both are signed. Certificates are located on both servers.
In a script I tried to
Import-Module Storage
$mountVolume = Mount-DiskImage -ImagePath $ImageSourcePath -PassThru
where ImageSourcePath is a networkpath to iso image.
But getting exception.

Attempt to process file failed with Exception in XML Parser-format problem
Hi all,
Iam getting an unusual error in the J2EE stack in XI.
And the message is:

My scenerio iam posting IDOC to a flat file with content conversion in the receiver side, the mapping got executed successfully and in the audit log i found that the error was after the 'Start converting XML document content to plain text'.
This means that error occured during content conversion of XML to the prescribed file format.
Can anyone suggest any better approach using which we may trace the junk data in IDoc. Manual adhoc approach could take time and is error prone.
Thanks in advance...
karunHi Bhavesh,
Thanks for the early reply. I checked the mapping and everything is fine and the output is also in valid XML format.
The audit log shows that the mapping got executed successfully and the error is after the step 'Start converting XML document content to plain text '. Is there any constraint in the file adapter regarding the message size for parsing.

Trouble processing file in iOS4 update, tried EVERYTHING! PLEASE HELP
I downloaded iTunes 10.5, I troubleshooted the problem and I've tried everything in the books. When I'm downloading the file, it goes for about 45 minutes without a problem, then when the update reaches the point of "processing file", a screen pops up that says "network connection timed out". Please help, this has been a problem for me for about 3 days now.
Thanks, Wolf. I did follow those instructions to the letter. However, it
didn't help a bit. -

How to submit pdf xml data to a file server
Hi, I am hoping someone can help me. I have created a dynamic pdf in livecycle designer ES, which appears as the requester wants it to. I now just need to work out how to collect the submitted data. Is it possible to submit the xml data to a file server? I have succeeded in emailing the data, but each response is separate xml attachment and would then need to collated, etc. It would be preferable to submit the data directly to a file server if this is possible. Even if it submitted into a database or something. From everything I have read so far, it seems that this is not possible, unless I am missing something. As a newbie to this, any assistance would be much appreciated. Thank you.
You can submit the data as XML or URL-encoded data (HTTP POST). In either case you will need to have a server-side process to receive and parse the data stream. The server-side process may be a JSP, a servlet, PHP or any technology that can manage HTTP requests/responses.
See About submitting data using a button at http://help.adobe.com/en_US/livecycle/9.0/designerHelp/000330.html .

SagarikaHi,
java.io.FileNotFoundException: /apps/oracle/DEV/inst/apps/DEV_hlt439erplap001/logs/appl/conc/out/o559655.out (No such file or directory)Most probably this file is not created (since no changes have been done recently, so definitely it is not a permission issue), and if there are any log files generate at the client side it should help in investigating the issue.
Thanks,

How to create an Excel file from XML in the Receiver File Adapter Comm Ch
How do I create an Excel file from XML in the Receiver File Adapter Communication Channel? I have my mapping done and I am outputting the file as a comma delimited csv file. However, the target can only process an Excel file (.xls). How can I generate an Excel in XI?
I saw this blog, but I don't know how to create a XSLT transformation.
/people/michal.krawczyk2/blog/2005/12/10/xi-generating-excel-files-without-the-java-nor-the-conversion-agent-not-possible
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. Here are the steps I took to create an XSLT transformation in XI 3.0:
1. I created my source and target XSDs using XMLSpy.
2. I created the XSLT mapping from source to target in XMLSpy (referencing the souce XSD schema).
3. I created another XSLT mapping to format the target into Excel XML.
4. Import the source and target XSDs in the IR's External Definitions
5. Zip each XSLT mapping (.xls) and import it into the IR's Imported Archives
6. Reference the XSL mappings in the Interface Mapping -

JSP and XSL Processor - How do you send the processed file to a JSPWriter?
The hierarchy for the relevant I/O classes is:
Object---OutputStream
Object---Writer---PrintWriter
Object---Writer---JspWriter
For the processed file from the Oracle XSLProcessor, typically HTML, the XSLProcessor API v2.0.2.9 offers either 'OutputStream' or 'PrintWriter' as targets.
Unfortunately, a 'PrintWriter' cannot be used as a 'JspWriter'.
I realise that I can call
HttpServletResponse.getOutputStream()/getWriter() but there may be problems using this with the 'out' object.
According to the JSP documentation: 'Either getOutputStream() or getWriter() may be called to write the body, not both.'
The XSLProcessor API does offer an 'XMLDocumentFragment' as another target so I can make an XML document from this but looking at the API for 'XMLDocument', this again only offers 'OutputStream', 'PrintDriver' or 'PrintWriter' as targets.
Not sure if 'PrintDriver' helps.
How do I send the output from the 'XSLProcessor' to a 'JspWriter'?
Why does the API not offer a 'Writer' as a target?
Polite observation - this would be consistent with the 'OutputStream' being offered and, if changed, would not break any existing code.
nullYou can also use a PrintWriter to wrap a JspWriter
since PrintWriter has a constructor that takes any
Writer instance.I'm having the same problem, I've spent a lot of time
on it but I can't get it work.
Could you post some working code that shows how you
can do it?
Thanks.
It works now, I have used the code:
result = processor.processXSL(stylesheet, xml);
PrintWriter pw = new PrintWriter(out);
result.print(pw);
I had tried this before but there was an error in other place that prevented it to work.
Thank you anyway. -
Since 10.5.2 update, many diskimages-helpe processes with no initiation.
I just did a recent round of updates including the 10.5.2 update and now my MBP is not running as well as it used to. I guess the most obvious "symptom" is in mail when I'm typing a reply the whole machine will periodically freeze up for 5 - 10 seconds and then the typing will catch up.
What I've found from running top (or process monitor) is I'm getting many instances of diskimages-helpe with nothing apparently starting them up. Since I restarted after the 10.5.2 update (first time in months) I had over 30 instances of diskimages-helpe all taking .1% cpu all the time and a reported 618.35MB of virtual memory. None of these were there before the restart. Yesterday I went through and force quit every one of these processes, each of which prompted me with a "Device Removal" error when no drives (.dmg, USB HDs, thumb drives, etc.) were ever mounted. From yesterday to today I have 8 of these processes. I just killed another and two more came back. This reminds me of some malware type activity I used to have to deal with when I was a Windows systems administrator. What are these processes and why do I have so many of them since the update? Nothing has changed, I'm not even running many programs while I test this out. I can see no correlation to any activity and the starting of these processes.
Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I've seen others with similar issues, but there are no actual answers I could find.Actually you can have numerous instances of launchd. I was more interested in whether the diskimages-helpe process had launchd as its parent. If so, then you might look in /Library/ or /Home/Library/ for a LaunchDaemons folder, then look inside for any file with that name in it. Also, you can check in the /Library/ and /Home/Library/ for the StartupItems folders to see what third-party startup items may be installed. Also open Accounts preferences and check Login Items for something that could be related. I would also open the Console app in the Utilities folder and review the console log to see if there are any relevant entries that may provide a clue.
Otherwise, chalk it up to a defective installation and reinstall OS X. Since the drive is OK by Disk Utility you should be able to do an Archive and Install and not have to erase the hard drive:
How to Perform an Archive and Install
1. Be sure to use Disk Utility first to repair the disk before performing the Archive and Install.
Repairing the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your OS X Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Installer menu (Utilities menu for Tiger.) After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported, then quit DU and return to the installer.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior (4.0 for Tiger) and/or TechTool Pro (4.5.2 for Tiger) to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
2. Do not proceed with an Archive and Install if DU reports errors it cannot fix. In that case use Disk Warrior and/or TechTool Pro to repair the hard drive. If neither can repair the drive, then you will have to erase the drive and reinstall from scratch.
3. Boot from your OS X Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When you reach the screen to select a destination drive click once on the destination drive then click on the Option button. Select the Archive and Install option. You have an option to preserve users and network preferences. Only select this option if you are sure you have no corrupted files in your user accounts. Otherwise leave this option unchecked. Click on the OK button and continue with the OS X Installation.
4. Upon completion of the Archive and Install you will have a Previous System Folder in the root directory. You should retain the PSF until you are sure you do not need to manually transfer any items from the PSF to your newly installed system.
5. After moving any items you want to keep from the PSF you should delete it. You can back it up if you prefer, but you must delete it from the hard drive.
6. You can now download a Combo Updater directly from Apple's download site to update your new system to the desired version as well as install any security or other updates. You can also do this using Software Update. -
