XML Processing with Java (Elliotte Rusty Harold) PDF

Anyone knows where can i get this book on PDF format??
I know Elliotte offers this book on-line on his page, but I would like to get it on pdf better than html.
If anyone can help I would appreciate it very much.
Thanks in advance.

    If you are invoking LiveCycle ES2 on JBoss compile with JDK 1.6 and run against JRE 6.

    Hi, I am new to java, and was looking for some java code to accomplish the following:
    I have an XML file, and a target XML schema. I also have a mapping schema, that maps the source xml file attributes with the target schema attributes.
    I want to read the input xml file, and then reformat it to conform to the output xml schema(validated).
    Will appreciate if someone can point me to code for a similar problem .....!

    Transform the input xml to an XML document which conforms to the target schema with a XSLT.

  • How to validate the Xml File With Java

    Hi,
    Can pls tell me. I want to validate the XML File for the Some Mandartory TAG. if that if Tag null i want to generate error xml file with error and i want move another folder with java. pls help me as soon as possible

    Use a validating parser (any recent Xerces, for one) and switch on the validation feature. Very much vendor-specific, so look at the docs of your parser. Oh, you do have a schema for these documents, don't you?

  • XML Validation with Java

    I have created a XML file with dom4j and the file confirmed to be valid when I read the file with Internet Explorer, a online XML validator and a free XML editor called "CookTop". However, when I attemp to read the XML file during the execution of an ant task I always get the XML parsing exception that one of my tag is not closed. I have even wrapped that test inside the tag as CDATA but that does not help as well. Do any one know what's happening? Here's my environment:
    JDK: 1.4.2_05

  • XML Parsing with Java - Only some attributes have start and end tags

    Hello,
    I am trying to interpret the XML response from a server after a HTTP request is sent to it. I have modified an example off Wikipedia below to give an example of what it looks like.
    Example XML:
    <Asset name="bread" prep_time="5 mins" cook_time="3 hours">
    <Attribute name="Ingredient: ">Flour</Attribute>
    <Attribute name="Ingredient: ">Water</Attribute>
    <Attribute name="Used in Recipes:" />
    </recipe>
    I have been trying to display the above XML in a format such as:
    name: bread prep_time: 5 mins cook_time: 3 hours
    Ingredient: Flour
    Ingredient: Water
    Used in Recipes:
    Right now I have been trying to do it manually using indexOf and substring of the XML text, but I would like to find a better way of doing this. I have found some examples online that show had to deal with cases such as
    <person>
    <first>Kiran</first>
    <last>Pai</last>
    <age>22</age>
    </person>
    but I do not know what to do when I encounter something like the last item, when there are no "Used in Recipe" items, and it ends with a />, instead of an ending tag </Attribute>.
    Are there any suggestions as to how to handle the example XML code that I have posted?
    Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

It is open to interpretation.

    As long as one is mindful of the potential performance and maintenance impacts of course.Again, it depends what he's doing...true. I was making some assumptions, since (as usual) we don't really know the requirements beyond a base technical one (ie "I have this, and I need it to look like this"). In general, though, if you have XML data and you need it formatted differently then I'd say your first port of call ought to be transformation.
    As for maintenance, I'd say it's easier to maintain a stylesheet than to modify Java, which is why I say it ought to be the start point.
    Of course, YMMV.

    Ah, sorry, strike that. You want multiple files. I think the easiest way is to simply parse with DOM. [http://www.w3schools.com/xpath/default.asp] . And here [http://www.w3schools.com/xpath/default.asp].
    You can output the various XML elements using a PrintWriter or creating a separate DOM document for each file you want to create and serializing that.

  • Exec a unix process with java

    Hi all
    I am trying to write a statistic pgm in java about process queues in tmsdmin.
    The code segment looks like below.
    Process proc = Runtime.getRuntime().exec("tmadmin");
    This works perfectly but my question is how can I exec pq ? pq is a command in tmadmin itself??
    I will be very thankful for any help regarding this Problem.

    Why not try to exec the command with the redirections ?
    For example:
       try {
          // Create input file
          String inputfilename = "inputfile.txt";
          BufferedWriter bw = new BufferedWriter(new FileWriter(inputfilename));
          bw.write("pq");   // and so on...
          bw.newLine();
          bw.close();

          String exec_cmd = "tmadmin < " + inputfilename;
          // Run command
          Process proc = Runtime.getRuntime().exec(exec_cmd);
       catch(Exception e) {
          e.printStackTrace();
       }Hope this helped,

  • Xml parsing with Java

    Hi ..!
    I am having a small problem friends if anybody of you can just help me resolving this .
    I am quiet new to working with parsing XML with SAX and Dom java parsers .
    Problem is when we want to extract the Element name ,Attribute Name or Attribute Value it is quiet simple in Java to do so .
    But supposing i want to extract the value between the tags of an element how can we do so either their is a simple method that i have missed or their is a tedious procedure that i am ignorant of.
    eg- <Node1> this is my name <Node1>
    Java source output -this is my name.
    Thanx to you people for co-operating
    Take care
    Akshat

    in SAX u can do like this
         boolean nodeflag=false;
         public void startElement(String uri,String localName, String qName,Attributes attributes)throws SAXException
              if(qName.equals("Node1"))
                   nodeflag=true;
         public void endElement (String uri, String localName, String qName)throws SAXException
              if(qName.equals("Node1"))
                   nodeflag=false;
         public void characters(char[] ch, int start,int length)throws SAXException
              String s=new String(ch,start,length);

                   if(!s.trim().equals(""))
