XML refresh

I'm loading data from an XML file into a xml connector -->
into a dataset --> into a datagrid components. The datagrid is
editable so the user can change values in it etc.
I want the user to be able to re-set the datagrid to its
original state at the click of a button. I was using
XmlConn.trigger(); method to do this - this means re-loading all
the xml data which can take a few seconds and is annoying if you
want to do this multiple times.
I'm not sure if this is correct but to my knoledge: When you
make changes to the dataGrid it doesnt make the change to the
loaded xml (i tested this by doing xmlcon.results after each change
to the datargid).
Is there a way of just refreshing the datagrid with the
already loaded xml data rather than having to reload the data each
time?

I tried doing this:
var test = items_ds.dataProvider;
items_ds.dataProvider = test;
trace(items_ds.dataProvider);
And it seems to do something: it pauses a split second as if
loading data, it resets the item in focus on the datagrid to the
first item, but it doesnt seem to refresh the data back to the
original values.
I tried using:
items_dg.redraw();
after, but it made no difference.
This is so annyoing, the data is there, i know this, i just
cant get it to refresh in anyway and the documentation on this is
so vague.
Anyone got more ideas?

  • Best way to get SharePoint workflow to trigger InDesign XML refresh and PDF export?

    What is the best way to get a SharePoint workflow to trigger the refresh of an XML datasource within an InDesign document, and generate a PDF export? The datasource would be hosted by SharePoint.
    Would InDesign Server be required?

    My understanding of the license is that Adobe requires you to use InDesign Server for this sort of thing.
    But the implementation is probably the same either way. Periodically poll, or find some way to trigger it.

  • XML refresh within a PDF

    I was wondering if it's possible to refresh XML data imbedded in the report once it's been exported to a PDF?

    Yes, as long as you have an XML Data connection in your dashboard. Are you having trouble setting up the connection? Check the User Guide and then post here on the forums with any specific questions you may have.

  • ADF Task Flow Binding - Refresh ifNeeded being invoked even WITHOUT any Parameter change

    Using JDeveloper 11.1.1.6.0
    Issue: Task Flow Binding property "refresh = ifNeeded" seems to be triggered even without the mutation of the input parameter.
    As per definition, "ifNeeded: refresh the ADF Region if the value of a task flow binding parameter changes." (Reference: 17.5 Refreshing an ADF Region)
    Now for the setup which reproduces the issue.
    I'll focus at the fragment bounded task flow level and will skip the jspx side.
    taskflow: main-flow.xml
    contains a single fragment mainFgmt.jsff
    has a managed bean defined SampleBean.java as pageFlow scope.
    taskflow: sub-flow.xml
    contains a single fragment subFgmt.jsff
    has an inputParameter SampleBean.java (because it is an input parameter, by default it will be at pageFlow scope)
    !important - has a nested taskflow (task flow call as defined in the component pallete) called inner-flow (see below)
    the nested taskflow is the default activity
    the nested taskflow has an outcome pointing to subFgmt where outcome = "return"
    taskflow: inner-flow.xml
    contains a single fragment called stop.jsff
    has a return activity without outcome = "return"
    stop.jsff has a navigation pointing to the outcome.
    Finally mainFgmt.jsff has a task flow binding (pageDef)
    with id = "sub-flow.xml"
    refresh = "ifNeeded"
    parameter SampleBean being submitted as sub-flow's input parameter. (id=sampleBean, value=#{pageFlowScope.mainSampleBean})
    Assume that code compiles.
    In this scenario where the only tricky condition is the inner nesting (defined by !important), when the inner nesting decides to invoke its outcome to visit sub-flow's fragment, mainFgmt is restarting its taskflow which makes sub-flow start over again.
    Another way of saying it is, if sub-flow starts a nested activity and that nested activity exits out to utilize sub-flow's view. The high level definition which is mainFgmt's refresh ifNeeded is restarting sub-flow.
    In the above example if you notice, the bean (SampleBean) is not really being utilized except that it is completing the purpose of refresh=ifNeeded. This scenario is only to simplify the setup - in practical use this bean will be mutated to be utilized as a refresh mechanism.
    Now interestingly, if I change the pattern a bit then the issue will not happen:
    Don't use the nested taskflow (inner-flow) as the default activity, let a fragment of sub-flow hold the initial view.
    Navigate to the nested flow.
    Exit nested flow.
    Everything works.
    Now in this scenario, it seems like the sub-flow needs to have a view established first for it to be properly be used.
    So my questions are as follows:
    Can I consider the behavior of the refresh=ifNeeded as a bug in this usecase?
    Would it be better to utilize a different way of refreshing (maybe combination of refresh condition) to get around the issue?
    Is the use of the task flow as defined logical or does it cross any boundary or best practice that might be causing this behavior?

    Hi,
    actually you lost me in your description due to complexity. I lived under assumption that sub-flow already is a region on a view in main flow, but then you sad that
    "!important - has a nested taskflow (task flow call as defined in the component pallete) called inner-flow (see below)"
    which then confused me as to I have no idea if inner flow now is the second level nesting or first level nesting (should be second level nesting). If sub-flow is a region then having "has an inputParameter SampleBean.java (because it is an input parameter, by default it will be at pageFlow scope)"  is an unnecessary broad scope because the region wont live longer than view scope.
    Anyway, it seems that a region refresh is triggered by the lifecycle involved, which can be by design or a bug. I suggest you file a Service Request with support and provide a test case as purely from the description, its hard to parse and understand what is going on.

  • "Missing files" NOT actually missing

    I had some drive problems that during play and syncing made iTunes mark many of my files "missing". With the working drive, these tracks are not actually missing - double-clicking on each one will refresh its view. The problem is that iTunes seems satisfied with its 'missing' status for each, such that 'next track' and ipod-syncing assume those files don't need to be checked again.
    In other words, despite no real problems with file access, I can only get iTunes to refresh its view of those missing tracks by double-clicking each one, which is completely unworkable, given the thousands it thinks are missing.
    I've seen other variants of missing file problems but not this. Can I get iTunes to refresh its view of those files? The file locations *have not changed*
    I'm pretty sure this is new behavior, previous builds seemed happy to check a file anew if asked in any way (e.g. 'next').
      Windows 2000

    This is exactly my problem as well. The MP3's are still in the same location with the same names, and I can't deduce why it's only about 40% of the total files unlinked.
    This is the second time I've had to repair my Library, and nothing in iTunes makes that easy. If I delete everything it resets my ratings and counts, which is precisely what I want to avoid. If I re-import the music, I end up with duplicate files with extra numbers.
    I did the whole ITL/XML refresh in the support section, then it gives me this "missing" headache. iTunes already knows which Artist folder to start looking in for each song... strcmp() anyone???
    In my security efforts I have disabled my system from launching any script files with double-click, so while I would be happy to try Otto's JavaScript method... It shouldn't be too much to ask the iTunes team for a "Resolve Missing Files" button.
    Even kinder would be the ability to make the iPod the master list, and have iTunes be on the receiving end of the sync. But I can see the i's rolling when that comes to purchased content.
    It's wonderful when things work.

  • Sort column in advanceddatagrid

    Hi, i have an interesting question - how to sort column id
    datagrid, like i clicked on a header. I use AdvancedDataGrid and
    HierarchialData

    Yes, it works for HierarchicalCollectionView, but works for
    only first level of the tree. Like I sort an XMLListCollection,
    comparefunction handles only full elements of the first level. I
    need also to sort children nodes of the thee (customer wants).
    I have done it for XMLListCollection which is the source of
    HierarchialData but it's too many letters =)) and i need sort it
    and refresh HierarchialData after every change. Advanced datagrid
    makes it automatically by pressing on a header.
    Here is the code:
    quote:
    public static function
    sortXMLListCollection(xml:XMLListCollection,dataField:String):XMLListCollection
    var sorting:Sort=new Sort();
    sorting.fields=[new SortField(dataField)];
    xml.sort=sorting;
    xml.refresh();
    for each(var item:XML in xml)
    XMLUtils.sortXMLNode(item,sorting);
    return xml;
    public static function
    sortXMLNode(node:XML,sorting:Sort):XML
    var tempXML:XMLListCollection=new XMLListCollection(node.*);
    tempXML.sort=sorting;
    tempXML.refresh();
    XMLUtils.clearNode(node);
    XMLUtils.appendXMLListInXML(node,tempXML.copy());
    for each(var item:XML in node.*)
    XMLUtils.sortXMLNode(item,sorting);
    return node;
    public static function
    appendXMLListInXML(xml:XML,xmlList:XMLList):XML
    for each(var appendXML:XML in xmlList)
    xml.appendChild(appendXML)
    return xml;
    public static function clearNode(xml:XML):XML
    for(var i:int=new
    XMLListCollection(xml.*).length-1;i>=0;i--)
    delete xml.*
    return xml;

  • HTTPService not reading updated xml, i've been having to refresh the xml in my browser manually

    I am calling an HTTPService (id=data2php) which runs a php
    script which creates an xml doc and puts it on my server. i then
    call another HTTPService (id=feedRequest) which reads the xml doc.
    i then try to populate a datagrid with the lastResult of my
    HTTPService that reads the xml doc. My issue is that that the
    HTTPService which reads the xml doc reads the previous incarnation
    of the xml doc, not the newly created one that my HTTPService
    (data2php) created. i've been manually going to the xml doc in my
    browser and hitting refresh for my feedRequest HTTPService to read
    the updated xml.
    here is the mxml for the httpservice that reads the xml:
    <mx:HTTPService id="feedRequest" url="
    http://cfcdi.org/eric/dashboard/php/sales.xml"
    result="feedResult(event)" resultFormat="xml" useProxy="false"/>
    pretty straight forward.
    (actually, once in a while it will read the updated
    one)

    LittleMuscle,
    Instead of binding to the lastResult property, I would
    explicitly handle the result and fault events of the HTTPService
    (the one that reads the newly created xml doc) and then manually
    update an XMLListCollection for use as the datagrid's dp. That way,
    you can at least walk through the debugger and see what's going on,
    and force the second HTTPService to read only when you're sure the
    newly created doc is ready.
    Since you said it works sometimes and not other times, it
    sounds like it's just a timing problem, sometimes the xml doc is
    created quickly enough that the HTTPService grabs the new xml doc,
    but if not, it's grabbing the old one. That would be my
    guess.

  • PDF output does not refresh data in BI Publisher, XML and HTML do refresh

    I just upgraded to BI Publisher 10.1.3.4.0 and I noticed that the PDF format of the reports does not reflect recent changes in data, while XML data and HTML output do reflect changes in data immediately.
    I'm using BI Publisher to print APEX applications reports. When I change some data in APEX forms, I click again in the Print button and the data remains unchanged. I made some testing inside Oracle BI Publisher, and noticed that XML data and HTML output do reflect changes, but PDF output remains with the old data for some unknown amount of time. I cannot identify a method to force the PDF to refresh, just un-log and log in again several times until the data appears updated. This is serious because when users change data and print again, they expect the changes to be reflected in the new printable report, and may not notice that the data is the old version.
    OS is Oracle Enterprise Linux.
    Any help on this will be very welcome.

  • The xml is not being refreshed

    hello
    i am trying to build an online calendar in which the user can
    save his massages.
    the problem i have is that once the user saved the messages
    the first time, the next times he logs in the messages are not
    being refreshed. meaning that the user will always see his first
    messages and it does not refresh.
    the way it works is that after u press save, it creates an
    xml file that is loaded the next times.
    if you delete the cache than the correct info appears.
    i tried to research it but havent really figured out a way to
    solve it. maybe its something to do with http headers i dont
    know...
    the calendar is on :
    http://www.omrihecht.com/calendar/calendar.html
    any help will be appreciated.

    the code i am using to load the xml is :
    prevData.onLoad = function (success : Boolean)
    if (success)
    loadPreviousData ();
    showErrorMessage ("loading data")
    } else
    showErrorMessage ("welcome "+loginName.text)
    myIdentifier = Math.round (Math.random () * 10000);
    prevData.load (fileToLoad + "?uniq" + myIdentifier);
    and on explorer it works ok, on firefox it doesnt
    if you will look at it, when it finds the file it has to
    load, it displays "loading data", if it doesnt find it it displays
    "welcome "+username..
    if you will use the following username = 123 and
    password=456789 than you will be able to see the difference between
    the browsers..

  • Problems with codepage after refreshing data from XML

    Hello,
    I've created a dashboard with XML connection.
    XML file with new data is created via macro in INPUT.xls Excel file. This INPUT.xls file was created through exporting spreadsheet from Xcelsius and then adding a macro to it, so text data should be this same codepade. Generated XML through macro have no errors and Flash file gets numeric data with no problems.
    But there is other problem with text's codepage. After reload there are some unidentified symbols in place of polish alphabet letters.
    What should I do to make it right? Is this a problem with codepage or something else?

    You never delete a Time Machine backup by dragging it to the Trash. You are supposed to use the TM application to manage the backups. What you will need to do now is to simply erase the drive using Disk Utility.

  • Error while refreshing  WEBi Report : Supplied XML Invalid

    Hi,
    I have a universe buit on BI query in production environment.
    I changed the query in BI directly in PRD. The only chnage i did was ,unhide the keyfigure which was hidden originally as i wanted to see the data it brings in BEx analyzer.
    Then i agian chaged that key figure to Hidden.
    now the WEBi reports which are built on the universe which uses this bi qury is not getting refreshed.
    It gives the error : Supplies XML invalid
    I refreshed the Universe and Parsed it.there was 1 parsing erroe in Filter.Still i exported the universe.
    Now generally the WEBI reports start working after re exporting the universe, but this time it is not working.
    What can be done in this case.???
    I dont think it is because of parsing error as i have exported the same universe earlier with same error and reports worked fine that time.
    following  is in the WHERE section of the filter:
    <FILTER KEY="[!V000006]"><CONDITION OPERATORCONDITION="Equal"><CONSTANT TECH_NAME="@Prompt('Posting date','D',,mono,free)"/></CONDITION></FILTER>

    How you tried editing Webi report ?
    Its possible that your changes to Bex query while propagated to Universe after structure refresh, have changed some of the objects, and that change is not in Webi report yet, you'll need to edit it and maybe re-map objects.....
