XML Updating not possible after Copy Paste

Hi all
I have a problem with updating large financial tables. The tables are generated from Excel into XML, then placed via JavaScript on ID pages. I can get up to 10 tables some containing 100 rows by 8 cols data.
All formating is done by the combination of Tags, Styles and Scripts.
Should the people that generate the financial tables in the first place update the Excel file, we re run the process and the layout tables in ID update no problem.
Now come the layout artists and copy paste the table they need onto the layout where additional background stories and images combine into the final layout.
The XML tree of the data they copy also copies into the layoutfile. All good so far.
Now an update via Excel arrives and I need to update the final layout file.
But the link is no longer in the Links palette. As soon as I do the copy paste it is gone.
How do I update the relevant subset of XML on the final layout file, from the complete XML dataset given to me.
Any ideas where I went wrong?

I do not think is possible to copy links between documents.
I think the only way to create a link is to Import XML and Create Link.
Therefore, you should try to adopt a workflow that does not result in copy and pasting the XML to a new document:
Several choices present themselves:
1. Adjust your script to import the XML into the final layout file directly.
2. After you have copy-and-pasted the XML, open the structure pane, select the XML root, and re-import the XML file by hand, creating a link.
3. Cut and paste the final layout into the layout with the link.
4. Pages (panel) > Move Pages the pages from the final layout into the layout with the linked XML content, and then move the linked XML around in that layout onto the pages where it matters

Once upon a time... (Over a year ago) I used a tool to remove a virus on this little used laptop.

Hello. I have just installed Oracle Linux 5 as Guest OS on the top of VMPlayer. Host OS is Windows 7.
I downloaded Oracle E-Business Suite R12 from edelivery into Windows 7 in a folder(EBS_R12) on my LapTop screen.
In order to install EBS R12 into Oracle Linux 5, I copy/paste the folder EBS_R12 into Oracle Linux 5 screen. The file size is about 50GB. After coply/paste is completed successfully, I cannot find where is the folder (EBS_R12) in the Guest OS Oracle Linux 5.
Can any folks tell me where is the folder (EBS_R12) in Oracle Linux 5 after copy/paste from Windows 7 ?

You have more flexibility for that part if you use AIR than if you use Flash Player. With Flash Player, it will be only text based information, with AIR, it can be a binary format like a bitmap

I believe we have fixed any possible input directory issues but the error message continues to be written.
I expect that redeploying (rebooting server?) should end the messages but, either way:
Do you know if there is a setting on either the BPEL development process (jDev) or the SOA server where I can limit the number of attempts?

We are running on Unix.
The BPELs were deployed before the respective in-/output directories had been created. I think this might have caused the initial problem.
Once the directories were created (with full permissions -777), though, the messages continued.
I checked the descriptors on the deployed bpels and they seem to be pointing to the correct absolute path for the input files.
So, ASSUMING that the paths are now correct and permissions are ok:
Is there any way of making the attempts stop (as in "kill -9 annoying_bpel_process" ;) ?, or,
Is there a setting in the server admin side to limit the number of attempts in the future ?, or,
Do we need to redeploy the same Bpel after we created the directories ?

Not able to copy-paste java console logs

I am able to copy paste the applet's java console logs from with our network.
but when i access the same applet from outside (internet), I am not able to copy-paste the console logs!
Seems weird but it is true
The console appears fine with log statements, i am not able to copy-paste when accessing through internet.

You probibly have differences in the machines you are using.

Paste not enabled after copy.

if I select a slide in a slideshow, choose "Copy attributes" from the context menu, then select another slide show, select a slide there and try to paste the attributes, the command is disabled in the context menu.
Why can't I copy and paste attributes from one slide show to another. I don't see why it shouldn't be possible.
Different question: Why can I select an slide show in the project window, and copy it, but not paste it. I thought that maybe this way I could "clone" a certain slide show, and modify the copy as I need.
Did the developers just forget to disable the copy command in this case?
I would like to produce a set of very similar slide shows in my project. There's a black image, blending into the "main" image. This image stays for some time, then it fades to black. After that the black image is shown again for some seconds.
I could create each slide show the fast way by selecting the black image and the main image, then selecting "New->slide show". The last black image at the end would be missing though. Therefore I'd have to import a copy of the black image.
But then still the new slideshow wouldn't have the transitions and effects that the formerly created slide shows have.
Is there an easier way to copy a slide show?

Regarding the attributes: I copied attributes from a first slide and tried to insert them in a slide show where I only inserted one slide so far. But because transitions are not possible when there is no following (second) slide, Encore DVD disabled the paste command because the attributes in the clipboard also contained a transition. I admit that Encore's behaviour was correct, though it would be nicer to just insert the attributes that are possible and skip the rest.
Regarding the slideshow: I just thought that maybe Encore DVD was copying something else that I didn't know, like object from another window or a text representation of the slide show. But doing a paste in a simple text editor led to nothing. When you copy a sprite or a cast member in director, some text info about that object is copied into the clipboard as well, which can be inserted into a text editor.

Getting rid of Multiple Spaces in Code View (after Copying/Pasting)

I'm trying to find a way to get rid of multiple spaces between words in Dreamweaver CS3's code view.
Oftentimes, when I copy/paste text from elsewhere (e-mail, website, etc), the Dreamweaver code shows up with multiple spaces. Normally, that wouldn't be problem -- except that my blog's auto-tag plug-in doesn't detect selected phrases when there are multiple spaces between words, e.g., it'll detect "Swiss Alps" in a post but not "Swiss Alps" (notice the extra space between words in the second phrase).
If at all possible, I'd like to be able to keep Dreamweaver's text formatting option when I copy and paste, as that means I don't need to manually put words in bold/italics.So, is there a way to keep that option while getting rid of all the extra spacing between words?
By the way, I'm familiar with Wordpress CSS, but not with Dreamweaver CSS. Not sure if there's any difference.

I make it a point to never paste formatted text into HTML pages. Formatted text from MS Office usually contains a variety of junk you don't want and I don't have that much faith in MS Word code removal tools.
Bold and Italics from Word or Outlook should be changed to current HTML tags of <strong> for bold and <em> or emphasis for italics anyway. Also see Logical Tags here:

Latest OS X update not possible

After I got the information that a new version of OS X is available, I downloaded it and the MacBook Pro started the installation. After ca. 5 Minutes the process stopped with a error message, that the the update is not not possible due of a possibel corrupt file and that I should try later again.
I tried 5 times with the same result.
How can I update the MacBook Pro?
Somebody around with the same experience?

No you don't want to install that older OS over the top of Lion. That would be Really bad and wouldn't work anyway.
When you installed Lion it created a Recovery HD partition on your drive. To get to that Recovery HD partition you have to hold down the Command+r key combo at startup. That will boot you to the Recovery HD. From there you can RE-Download and install the Lion OS.
But what you should do first is get this program from Apple.

Then create a USB stick with it that has all the Recovery HD files on it. That will allow you to boot the computer from that stick and do maintenance and re-install the OS.
But you should also follow the instructions for making your own USB stick that has the OS install files on it so you don't have to go through downloading the OS when and if you need to re-install. These instruction are found all over the net.
The real definition of insanity is doing the same things over and over and expecting a different outcome.

Error "Compile error: Invalid character" after copy paste operations in VBE 6.5 PowerPoint 2011

This is a weird problem with the VBE 6.5 in Office 2011, running natively on a Mac.
Sometimes, yet often, when I select a word by double clicking on it or a line by highlighting that line in the editor and then copy/paste it somewhere else in the code, the compiler throws the error "Compile error: Invalid character"
The thing is, what I see has been pasted is exactly the same as the source text. However, if I then paste the same clipboard item to a text editor, I can see that there is an 'invisible' character at the end of the string which is counted in the text editor
where the cursor is shifted past it but does not shown on the screen!!!
Back in the VBE, if I select a line that is dubious and drag it, the semi transparent dragged text has a '>' character on a new line.
In some copy/paste cases, the compiler doesn't see an error but the code doesn't work as expected and I have spent hours debugging stuff that has invisible characters in it (the hardest debugging I've ever had to do!).
I'm not sure if this example will paste correctly into the forum but this looks like 19 characters but is in fact 20 as there is the offending copy/paste invisible character between 'Test' and '.'

This seems to be a major oversight in the code of the VBE 6.5 so are Microsoft aware of this and when is it due to be fixed?

I had this exact issue. This is a terrible bug. The code looks perfect, but there are hidden characters that throw compiler errors. Thanks for the quick fix, Microsoft.

Thanks doesnt really work. Is like 7 steps and have to go from keyboard to manually pushing on screen to force the paste since data not recognized. Executables not found after copying oracle home

I am cloning E-Business 11.5.10.2 on newly installed Red Had Linux 4.4. After copying oracle hoem frpm production server to test, i did not find executables in oracle_home/bin directory including sqlplus. I tried copying sqlplus from production server and then run sqlplus and found that their are libraraies missing from oracle_home/lib direcotyr.
please help resolving this problem.

Your 10.4.x (Tiger) Mac will not run the firmware update because the 1.0.3 Firmware update is only for 10.3.7-10.3.9 (Panther). If your Mac OS X maintenance is not up to date, doing maintenance may correct your problem.
If maintenance does NOT fix the problem, I agree with Ralph that applying the 10.4.6 Combo Update should resolve your issue. Because you had difficulty with the Combo Updater when you tried previously, you should use the update technique suggested in How I Update My Mac OS X. That method works for me.
If the problem persists, try connecting your iSight to a Mac that is running Panther to do the firmware update. Perhaps a friend or local retailer has one that you can use to perform the firmware update on your iSight. Your iSight should then work properly on you Mac. If not, see your Apple Service Technician.
If you do not have access to an Apple Service Technician, you might also get some helpful ideas by searching iSight Discussions for "1.0.3" for suggestions offered to other users.
