Xmlns in root element

When converting exchange rates xml from http://www.ecb.europa.eu/stats/eurofxref/eurofxref-daily.xml
I'm getting problem with xmlns in root element.
CALL TRANSFORMATION triggers CX_XSLT_ABAP_CALL_ERROR, but only if there is xmlns attribute in first line in input xml:
<gesmes:Envelope xmlns:gesmes="http://www.gesmes.org/xml/2002-08-01" xmlns="http://www.ecb.int/vocabulary/2002-08-01/eurofxref">
Without this xmlns=.....  (or when modifying e.g. abcxmlns= ) works following xslt fine:
<xsl:transform xmlns:xsl="http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Transform" xmlns:sap="http://www.sap.com/sapxsl" version="1.0">
  <xsl:strip-space elements="*"/>
  <xsl:template match="/">
    <xsl:copy>
      <xsl:apply-templates/>
    </xsl:copy>
  </xsl:template>
  <xsl:template match="Cube/Cube">
    <asx:abap xmlns:asx="http://www.sap.com/abapxml" version="1.0">
      <asx:values>
        <ROOT2>
          <xsl:value-of select="@time"/>
        </ROOT2>
        <ROOT1>
          <xsl:apply-templates select="Cube"/>
        </ROOT1>
      </asx:values>
    </asx:abap>
  </xsl:template>
  <xsl:template match="Cube/Cube/Cube">
    <loop>
      <AMOUNT>
        <xsl:value-of select="1"/>
      </AMOUNT>
      <CCYCODE>
        <xsl:value-of select="@currency"/>
      </CCYCODE>
      <VALUE>
        <xsl:value-of select="@rate"/>
      </VALUE>
    </loop>
  </xsl:template>
</xsl:transform>
I'd appreciate if someone migh advise me how to alternate the xslt or tell me what the xmlns in input does.
Cheers

If a namespace is specified on root level, it propagates down to all children, see:
http://www.w3.org/TR/REC-xml-names/scoping
The namespace is part of a name. So, if you have an element <Cube> as child of the root element <root xmlns="http://www.gesmes.org/xml/2002-08-01">, then
<xsl:apply-templates select="Cube"/>
won't be applied, since the qualified name of the element is not Cube but {http://www.gesmes.org/xml/2002-08-01}Cube
If you want the XSLT to work with and without namespace equally well, you have to work with local names in XPath expressions:
<xsl:apply-templates select="local-name() = 'Cube'"/>
The same holds for all XPath functions working with element names.
Usually, however, the namespace is part of the contract with the client and is
either obligatory to be used
or obligatory to be omitted.
But not both.

  • Getting Error in java mapping: Parsing empty source. Root element expected!

    Hi Experts,
       I am using java mapping for schema validation of input message. I have followed all the standard procedures and implemented the java class in the interface mapping.
    My interface mapping is like this:
    OrderData --->Java Class ---SchemaValidate
                         Mesg Map ---OrderData_to_BAP --->BAPI Msg
    So first I want to validate the schema of the input message. If the input message is invalid then XI should throw an exception. Then I use the actual message mapping to map the input order data to the BAPI input parameters.
    In the java code I am using xerces parser.
    The java code works fine when I run it as a standalone application.
    The interface mapping also works fine if I don't include the java mapping. Ofcourse schema validation does not happen.
    But when I test the interface mapping by including the java mapping then I am getting the error:

    Hi Stefan,
       I did the code changes to return output stream and the java code works perfectly in standalone mode in my PC.
       But when I use the same in the Java mapping with XI then It throws an error "Getting Error in java mapping: Parsing empty source. Root element expected!".
    My XI J2EE server has JDK1.4.3.11.
    Is there any limitation of using SAX parser in XI? If Yes, then which parser should be used for schema validation in XI?
    I have included the XSD file for schema validation along with class files in the .jar file. This jar file is then imported in XI repository. Is the XI engine not able to read the XSD file?
    Do I have to handle reading XSD file differently? Any suggession how?
    Is this parser error due to some security access?
    Kindly help me! I have been struggling with this problem since 2 weeks. I will be greatfull to you if you can help me.
    Thanks
    Gopal

  • Name Space deplaration in root element in soap message

    My soap client is having problems interpreting the response received from my Java service. When implemented using Endpoint.publish it works, whoever once packaged up inside an WAR file it break my client. After some investigation I found that the response message differs slightly. It seems that the namespace is declared on the root element using JAX-WS 2.0, and within the content body using JAX-WS 2.1. As I am not able to change the soap framework on my client, I am wondering if there is an option I could get either JAX-WS or JAX-B to produce the response message in the working format.

    Those two documents look functionally the same to me. It shouldn't matter whether the namespaces are declared at a higher level than necessary. If you have a client that treats those two documents differently then I would say it's not working correctly.

  • Several namespaces in root element

    Hi,
    I'm using JDOM and I would like to create an XML document that starts like this:
    <Invoice xmlns="urn:oasis:names:specification:ubl:schema:xsd:Invoice-1.0"
    xmlns:cac="urn:oasis:names:specification:ubl:schema:xsd:CommonAggregateComponents-1.0"
    xmlns:cbc="urn:oasis:names:specification:ubl:schema:xsd:CommonBasicComponents-1.0"
    xmlns:ccts="urn:oasis:names:specification:ubl:schema:xsd:CoreComponentParameters-1.0"
    xmlns:cur="urn:oasis:names:specification:ubl:schema:xsd:CurrencyCode-1.0"
    xmlns:sdt="urn:oasis:names:specification:ubl:schema:xsd:SpecializedDatatypes-1.0"
    xmlns:udt="urn:oasis:names:specification:ubl:schema:xsd:UnspecializedDatatypes-1.0"
    xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance"
    xsi:schemaLocation="urn:oasis:names:specification:ubl:schema:xsd:Invoice-1.0 UBL-Invoice-1.0.xsd">
    </Invoice>
    Is there a way to add several namespaces to the root element?? I have tried hard, but nothing works...
    Thank you very much for your help,
    Susana

    OK, it's like dvohra09 said. I had an old copy of jdom.jar and the method addNamespaceDeclaration() didn't exist.
    So, here you have the code to generate the beginning of my file, if ever it's useful to someone as I found it a little bit complicated to find out:
    For this:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <Invoice xmlns="urn:oasis:names:specification:ubl:schema:xsd:Invoice-1.0"
    xmlns:cbc="urn:oasis:names:specification:ubl:schema:xsd:CommonBasicComponents-1.0" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2000/10/XMLSchema-instance"
    xsi:schemaLocation="urn:oasis:names:specification:ubl:schema:xsd:Invoice-1.0 UBL-Invoice-1.0.xsd">
         <ID>serie1_04/00011</ID>
         <cbc:CopyIndicator>false</cbc:CopyIndicator>
    </Invoice>
    The code is:
    Element rootElement = new Element("Invoice", "urn:oasis:names:specification:ubl:schema:xsd:Invoice-1.0");
    rootElement.addNamespaceDeclaration(Namespace.getNamespace("cbc", "urn:oasis:names:specification:ubl:schema:xsd:CommonBasicComponents-1.0"));("schemaLocation", "urn:oasis:names:specification:ubl:schema:xsd:Invoice-1.0 UBL-Invoice-1.0.xsd", Namespace.getNamespace("xsi", "http://www.w3.org/2000/10/XMLSchema-instance" ));
    rootElement.setAttribute(schemaLoc);
    Document invoiceDocument = new Document(rootElement);
    // ID
    rootElement.addContent(new Element("ID", "urn:oasis:names:specification:ubl:schema:xsd:Invoice-1.0").setText(invoice.getId_serie_desc() + "_" + invoice.getNum_factura()));
    // cbc:CopyIndicator
    rootElement.addContent(new Element("CopyIndicator", "cbc",
    "urn:oasis:names:specification:ubl:schema:xsd:CommonBasicComponents-1.0").setText(copyIndicator));
    Thank you for your answers.

  • Namespace prefix in Root element missing during variable assignment

    In bpel 10.1.3.4, I need qualified element Namespaces in one of the target variables. I have an xsd that has elementFormDefault = "qualified" set, therefore all elements being referred to would have the namespace prefixed. This is working for all child elements, but not the root element. How can i get the root element prefixed with the namespace?

    Hi Sandeep,
    We have exactly the same issue, but, when we implemented the solution, we are getting the following error, when we tried to compile the code, we are using 11.1.1.4.0 version of SOA 11g, appreciate if there is any way you can help us on this:

  • Removing xmlns in child element

    Hi,
    I am getting xmlns="" in child , i want to remove the xmlns="" from the child element.
    Ex: Generated XML File-
    <GENERATEFILES xmlns="http://getit.com/generatedFile" >
    <GENERATE xmlns="">
    </GENERATE >
    </GENERATEFILES >
    in the code i have added Namespace to display 'xmlns' in' GENERATEFILES ' element,
    Element root = new Element("GENERATEFILES ");
    Namespace IP_NAMESPACE = Namespace.getNamespace("", "http://getit.com/generatedFile");//added xmlns for GENERATEFILES .
    root.setNamespace(IP_NAMESPACE);
    Element child = new Element("GENERATE ");

    EJP wrote:
    The XML means the same thing with and without the internal namespace declarations.I don't believe that's true. If I'm not mistaken, the GENERATEFILES element is in the "http://getit.com/generatedFile" namespace. And since this namespace is declared to be the default namespace, then the GENERATE element would inherit that namespace unless some other declaration was provided. In the example posted there is another declaration provided on the GENERATE element, namely one which declares that the element is in no namespace.
    If the OP gets his wish of not having that declaration present, that would result in the GENERATE element also being in the "http://getit.com/generatedFile" namespace, which can (as I believe you meant to say) be arranged by creating the GENERATE element in that namespace.
    However the real question for the OP is "What namespace should the GENERATE element be in?" Attempting to control the namespace declarations without understanding them is a bad idea.

  • WSDL incorrect - in XSD elements always must be the root element?

    Hi!
    First of all, sorry about my english, but I'm not accustomed to write in this language ;-)
    We're trying to publish a Webservice with JAXWS and with a classes generated via JAXB parsing a group of XSD files, always in a maven project with java 5.
    More explained the steps we are trying to follow:
    1) parse the XSD files with JAXB and generate a JAR file to be included like a dependency in the webapp
    2) use the classes packaged in the JAR in other maven project and define and deploy a webapp with the webservice using JAXWS defining a SEI that uses and returns a Type included in the JAR generated in the previous step. Here it is the interface that implements the SEI:
    @WebMethod
         public TESTELEMENT test(
                   @WebParam(name = "test")
                   TESTELEMENT element);The problem seems to be that if the elements in the original XSD files aren't root elements the WSDL generated is incorrect.
    Here there are the XSD files we are using and the WSDL error result (XMLSpy dixit, "ns1:Example" must refer to an existing element).
    Anyone knows what happens?
    Thank you in advance and sorry about this large message!

    Hi again.
    About my last post, say that the WSDL generated, in fact, was generated with CXF, sorry.
    Using JAXWS (wsgen to be more explicit) the WSDL results still are not ok, as you can see, the error is in the last ns1:Example reference in ServeiTestBO_schema1.xsd, that XMLSpy says that doesn't exists :-( :

  • How to remove namespace from root-element

    Hi Gurus,
    I want one xml output from xslt transformation with no namespace. I managed to remove namespace from child elements by leveraging elementFormDefault ='unqualified' property of xsd. But not able remove namespace from root-element.
    Output that I want is :
    <?xml version = '1.0' encoding = 'UTF-8'?>
    <inp1:Email_Mod_Root>
       <Email_Mod_Root_Element>
          <Email_Record1>
             <PERSON_NUMBER>123456</PERSON_NUMBER>
             <COUNTRY/>
              <EMAIL_TYPE>WORK</EMAIL_TYPE>
             <EMAIL>EMAIL3</EMAIL>
             <PRIMARY_FLAG>Y</PRIMARY_FLAG>
          </Email_Record1>
    </Email_Mod_Root_Element>
    </Email_Mod_Root>
    Output that I am getting:
    <?xml version = '1.0' encoding = 'UTF-8'?>
    <inp1:Email_Mod_Root xmlns:inp1="http://www.example.org">
       <Email_Mod_Root_Element>
          <Email_Record1>
             <PERSON_NUMBER>123456</PERSON_NUMBER>
             <COUNTRY/>

             <PRIMARY_FLAG>Y</PRIMARY_FLAG>
          </Email_Record1>
    </Email_Mod_Root_Element>
    </Email_Mod_Root>
    Anyone, pls suggest.
    Thanks in advance,
    SG_SOA

    First of all :
    <inp1:Email_Mod_Root>
       <Email_Mod_Root_Element>
          <Email_Record1>
             <PERSON_NUMBER>123456</PERSON_NUMBER>

              <EMAIL_TYPE>WORK</EMAIL_TYPE>
             <EMAIL>EMAIL3</EMAIL>
             <PRIMARY_FLAG>Y</PRIMARY_FLAG>
          </Email_Record1>
    </Email_Mod_Root_Element>
    </Email_Mod_Root>
    isn't valid xml (you start with inp1: prefix and you end the tag with no prefix, but let's assume you don't want any prefix/namespace at all)
    if i use :
    [code]
    <xsl:stylesheet version="1.0" xmlns:xsl="http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Transform" xmlns:inp1="http://www.example.org" exclude-result-prefixes="inp1">
      <xsl:output method="xml" version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" indent="yes"/>

        </xsl:element>
      </xsl:template>
      <xsl:template match="@*">

          <xsl:value-of select="."/>
        </xsl:attribute>
      </xsl:template>
    </xsl:stylesheet>
    [/code]
    i get this
    [code]

    Any help is appreciated

    Hello,
    The error occurs as far as your XSL file has incorrect structure. Your have to transform incoming XML in so-called (by Oracle) canonical form i.e.:
    <ROWSET>
    <ROW>
    <FIELD_1>value-for-field-1</FIELD_1>
    <FIELD_N>value-for-field-N</FIELD_N>
    </ROW>
    </ROWSET>
    So, assuming your table has three fields : SHIPTO_NAME, SHIPT_STREET, SHIPTO_CITY, - your XSL file should look like following:
    <xsl:stylesheet version="1.0" xmlns:xsl="http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Transform" >
    <xsl:template match=”/”>
    <ROWSET>
    <xsl:apply-templates select=”purchaseOrder”/>
    </ROWSET>
    </xsl:template>
    <xsl:template match=”purchaseOrder”>
    <ROW>
    <SHIPTO_NAME><xsl:value-of select=”shipTo/name”/></SHIPTO_NAME>
    <SHIPTO_STREET><xsl:value-of select=”shipTo/street”/></SHIPTO_STREET>
    <SHIPTO_CITY><xsl:value-of select=”shipTo/city”/></SHIPTO_CITY>
    </ROW>
    </xsl:template>
    </xsl:stylesheet>
    Hope this will help.

  • Error parsing envelope: (1, 1) Start of root element expected.

    Hello BI Publisher:
    The issue has been resolved. I found the cause the problem. The following line in my WSDL was preventing BI Publisher from reading the WSDL, which will return the "Error parsing envelope" message:
    <xsd:attribute name="dateTimeTagFormat" fixed="xsd" use="required"/>
    Once I removed the above line, BI Publisher was able to read the WSDL without any issues, and run the report.

    Hello BI Publisher:
    I am trying to define a new dataset of type "Web Service", with a Complex Type configuration using WS-Security 2004. I get the following error when I try to "View" it:
    **"javax.xml.soap.SOAPException: Error parsing envelope: (1, 1) Start of root element expected."**
    This happens even if my Application Server (where the service is located) is not running, so I suspect that the error happens before the Publisher server tries to send the SOAP envevelop to the service server.
    Publisher Version: Release 10.1.3.4

    Hello BI Publisher:
    The issue has been resolved. I found the cause the problem. The following line in my WSDL was preventing BI Publisher from reading the WSDL, which will return the "Error parsing envelope" message:
    <xsd:attribute name="dateTimeTagFormat" fixed="xsd" use="required"/>

    Complex Type: True
    Username: User1
    Password: ******
    Time Out: 60

    Hello! I have such issue with custom automation plugin. I'm trying to update oder data calling next code:
    TaskContext taskContext = (TaskContext) context;
    taskContext.updateOrderData(generateOMSUpdateString(inputXML));
    static private String generateOMSUpdateString(String message) {
              StringBuffer osmUpdate = new StringBuffer("");

                   osmUpdate.append("<Add path=\"/subscriber_info/new_name\">"+message+"</Add>");
              osmUpdate.append("</OrderDataUpdate>");
              catch(Exception e) {
              return osmUpdate.toString();
    Formed osmUpdatemessage looks like this:
    <OrderDataUpdate xmlns="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema" xmlns:xs="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema" xmlns:odu="http://www.metasolv.com/OMS/OrderDataUpdate" targetNameSpace="http://www.metasolv.com/OMS/OrderDataUpdate"><Add path="/subscriber_info/new_name">Test Name</Add></OrderDataUpdate>
    Server log shows next error:
    Jul 8, 2011 3:17:35 PM ALMT oms Error BEA-000000 test.TestJmsReceiveAutomation: Error updating order data: orderId[182] orderHistId[3098]
    Have you any ideas how to debug this error?

  • Problem to validate XML document if the type of root element is abstract

    I have the following XML document:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <ct013/>
    It corresponds to the following XSD Schema:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <xs:schema xmlns:xs="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema">
         <xs:element name="ct013" type="foo"/>
         <xs:complexType abstract="true" name="foo"/>
         <xs:complexType name="fixedType">
              <xs:complexContent>
                   <xs:restriction base="foo"/>
              </xs:complexContent>
         </xs:complexType>
    </xs:schema>
    Please take attention to the fact that the type of root element of that BDD is abstract.
    XML Schema provides a mechanism to force substitution for a particular element or type. When an element or type is declared to be "abstract", it cannot be used in an instance document. When an element is declared to be abstract, a member of that element's substitution group must appear in the instance document. When an element's corresponding type definition is declared as abstract, all instances of that element must use xsi:type to indicate a derived type that is not abstract.
    Declaring an element as abstract requires the use of a substitution group. Declaring a type as abstract simply requires the use of a type derived from it (and identified by the xsi:type attribute) in the instance document.
    For more information of using abstract types please see chapter 4.7 Abstract Elements and Types of XML Schema Part 0: Primer Second (http://www.w3.org/TR/xmlschema-0/#abstract).
    In this case there is Oracle bug when I try to validate this XML document using Oracle XDK:
    String validate(String xml, String schema)
    throws XSDException, XMLParseException, SAXException, IOException
    System.setPropert("oracle.xml.parser.debugmode", "true");
    XSDValidator xsdValidator = new XSDValidator();
    XMLError xmlError = new XMLError();
    xmlError.setErrorHandler(new DocErrorHandler());
    XMLDocument xmlDocument = parseXMLDocument(xml);
    XMLDocument schemaXMLDocument = parseXMLDocument(schema);
    XMLSchema xmlSchema = (XMLSchema) new XSDBuilder().build(schemaXMLDocument, null);
    xsdValidator.setError(xmlError);
    xsdValidator.setSchema(xmlSchema);
    xsdValidator.validate(xmlDocument);
    return getValidationError(xsdValidator);
    I get the following error:
    Can't find resource for bundle oracle.xml.mesg.XMLResourceBundle, key XSD-2046.
    I tried to validate this XML document using two other libraries - XSD Schema Validator (http://apps.gotdotnet.com/xmltools/xsdvalidator/Default.aspx) and xsdvalid-29 (http://www.w3.org/XML/Schema#XSDValid). Both libraries pointed me on the error that the type of root element is abstract and it cannot be used for doing validation.
    I think that Oracle should return me explaining message but not to throw exception.
    Am I right? Is there really Oracle bug or I miss something?
    Any help, hits, advices would be gratfully apriciated.

    Define Element1 as follows:
    <xs:element name="Element1">
    <xs:complexType>
    <xs:complexContent>
    <xs:restriction base="xs:string"/>
    </xs:complexContent>
    </xs:complexType>
    </xs:element>
    Does the XML document get validated if the element is specified as
    <Element1></Element1>
