Xmobar-0.15 depends on transformers-0.2.2.0 which failed to install.

Hi,
After upgrading ghc and cabal-install several weeks ago, which unregistered xmonad, xmonad-contrib, and xmobar from ghc-pkg, I'm now finally reinstalling all of them to get back up to date.
xmonad-0.10 and xmonad-contrib-0.10 went just fine, but xmobar-0.15 (even with the most minimal flags) is giving me the following error:

Note that I have transformers-0.3.0.0 installed as a dependency of mtl-2.1.2, which is itself a dependency (-any) of xmonad and (>=1 && <3) of xmonad-contrib. So yeah, xmonad-contrib-0.15 won't compile.
I've also tried cloning the latest xmonad-contrib-0.16 from git. That one does compile, but it has the known upstream issue of not acknowledging avoidStruts (see here and here).
Anyone have any idea how to get around the transformers dependency problem? Thanks.

Edit: Here are the relevant dependencies:
xmonad: mtl -any
xmonad-contrib: mtl >=1 && <3
xmobar: mtl ==2.0.*
mtl-2.1.2: transformers ==0.3.*
mtl-2.0.1.0: transformers ==0.2.*
So the culprit is clearly transformers-0.2.*., which is required by mtl-2.0.*, which is required by xmobar. Unfortunately, I've tried compiling all versions of transformers-0.2.*, and I get the same error every time:

If any other xmonad users who also use cabal-install have managed to get this working, I'd be grateful to know how.
In the meantime, I've just switched over to using xmonad, xmonad-contrib, and xmobar from community. (For now, only xmobar-0.15, not 0.16, works properly. You can find it at the Arch Rollback Machine: x86_64 / i686.)
The only thing that doesn't work in the community versions of xmobar is the MPD command. I guess it's not compiled with with_mpd, for some reason.
It's a shame because, other than being able to compile xmobar with all and only the flags I want, the primary reason I switched from the Arch repos to cabal-install was to avoid dependency issues. At least now everything is in community.

Can't find a way to install pandoc - cabal or AUR (SOLVED)

I am running Arch x86-64 and can't get pandoc up and running. I've tried the AUR packages as well as adding Haskell repo's as shown in the wiki, and also cabal with the available ghc.
At this point I'm back to the arch standard GHC and cabal-install. I did a 'pacman -Rnsc haskell cabal-install' and then went ahead and deleted my ~/.cabal and my ~/.ghc and this did a 'cabal update', this is what I get when I run 'cabal install pandoc'

Some in Google Groups said that they do the force reinstalls anyway, but when I try that things really do get broken. This is what I end up with:

Unfortunately, there seems to be a problem. The new cabal-install version can’t read its own default configuration file and just fails more or less immediately. There seems to be a fix, but it’s not yet percolated into the Arch packages.

[SOLVED] CUPS doesn't detect USB Samsung ML-2010 printer

Hi. I only speak a little English. Sorry for that.
I have got an USB Samsung ML-2010 printer. Before I used cups-usblp from AUR, and it worked. But it doesn't work now. The cups-usblp maintainer suggests to use cups instead of cups-usblp. Searching with google, it appears that other people don't have problems with this printer, cups, and archlinux. But I do. Cups' web interface doesn't detect it.

at "local printers". There isn't my printer. I use KDE, and KDE's tool for adding printers doesn's detect it either.

Solved!
Restarting cupsd didn't work.
But reinstalling cups...
$ sudo pacman -Rdc cups (it is a dependency of kdeadmin-system-config-printer-kde which I had installed)
$ sudo rm -r /etc/cups/*
I realize cupsd is already running:
$ ps aux | grep cupsd
root 1549 0.0 0.1 75548 4080 ? Ss 21:04 0:00 cupsd -C /etc/cups/cupsd.conf

I kill it

I feel really silly. It was a fresh install, so I didn't think about reinstalling.
Printed some jobs and worked perfectly. I used the gutenprint driver.

Why can't I open InDesign CS4?

I get error messages - the first one says:
Font Capture:InDesign.ece - Entry Point Not Found
The procedure entry point ....... could not be located int he dynamic library link Public.dlll.
Then I get a second error that says:
Cannot load the SNIPPET.APLN plug in. It is dependent ont he INXCORE.RPLN plug-in, which failed to load.

1. Windows Vista, Home Premium (service pack 2), and I operate on a PC.
2. I stated my InDesign version in the original heading - It is CS4.
3. The file is an INDD file & we don't know which version it was created in.
4. Start - All Programs - Adobe Master Collection CS4 - Adobe InDesign CS4
The error message appears in a box heading that reads: Font Capture: InDesign.exe Entry Point not found
The message inside that box reads:

Does JRE 1.3.1_02 demand the latest Windows?

Is the functioning of JRE 1.3.1_02 dependent on the version of Windows on which it is installed?
I wrote a Java program containing a main method and which uses certain helper classes. Also an applet program was written. I packed the main class file, the applet and the helper classes into a jar and uploaded the jar onto a Mandrake 7.2 system. I set up the web-server Apache on the same Mandrake system, and placed a HTML file to open the applet. This applet enables a client browser to interact with the main java program running in the Mandrake system. On the command prompt of Mandrake I typed java -jar <jar filename> <main-class file> [enter]
From Internet Explorer installed on a Windows 2000 machine I called the HTML file. The applet opened and tried to locate the background main Java program, which it did and my whole setup ran successfully.
I then tried opening the same applet from Windows NT and Windows 98 systems. But the applet failed to open. In the Java console of IE I am getting a ClassNotFoundException <applet-class-name>
I agree I did not set the Mandrake system classpath and the Apache web-server classpath, but how is it that Win2k is able to detect the jar file in which the applet is located whereas NT and 98 do not? This has definitely something to do with the functioning of the JRE (the Win2K, NT and 98 all have JRE 1.3.1_02 installed)
Maybe there is some angle which I am missing, but I am describing as much as I can understand. Any inputs would be appreciated.

Possibly the applet did not open on NT or 98 because it was unable to establish socket connections to your main Java program.
Maybe this has something todo with the way Socket connections are listened for. There is a difference in how Win2k listens and how NT and 98 listen.

In case it turns out that this is a socket connection problem, you need to install the latest WinSock API on your NT from the Microsoft site. This is available in the latest service pack (Service Pack 6 I think).
I am however not sure about the 98 part. 98 is still a robust OS with regard to JRE. Maybe you need to register certain ocx or dlls.

CS6 InDesign does not launch, gives a series of issue messages.

I faced an issue to launch InDesign when opening an earlier file. Then as a fresh launch also it gives the same errors.
It finally crashes, sometimes with a message that appears it could recover, by the time one can respond to it, it crashes!
The sequence of screens is added here, with transliteration.
First Message:

Finally the world is back on its track:
ID launched and allowed creating a new file
ID opened the earlier file without a crash, files opened with its typical messages of colorspace mismatch, font missing, links not having files... sometimes these messages feel good
Re-installation has got things back. I had some doubts about these, but all works:
- System was not restared at all during the uninstall and reinstall, magically it also kept track of serial number (so glad I did not have to hunt that out from records!)
- No earlier windows restore point was required
I am glad all is OK now, but "what" was the problem? And what made it to occur? Any ways to prevent such thing to happen again?

Cannot load InCopyExportUI plug-in error when opening InDesign

Everytime I open InDesign I get the error of
"Cannot load the InCopyExportUI.InDesignPlugin plug-in. It is dependent on the InCopyExport.InDesignPlugin plug-in, which failed to load. Please check documentation for the InCopyExport.InDesignPlugin plug-in."
Nothing seems wrong but how can I get this error to stop?

I just experimented and found a solution. In InDesign, go to InDesign > Configure Plug-Ins and uncheck the ones that are not working properly. It will ask you to create a custom set and save it and that's what I did. At least it's not bugging me when it loads up anymore.

Interestingly, when I try to install regex-pcre-builtin on its own, it first reinstalls regex-base-0.93.2, then fails. When I try to install elm after this, it also installs regex-base-0.93.2 before failing as shown above. Perhaps it isn't getting registered properly?
Google is alluding to an issue with the recent build of cabal-install or ghc. I downgraded cabal-install to 0.14 from 0.16, which did nothing. I'm very concerned about downgrading ghc, because pacman 1) warns of many broken packages if I do that, and 2) I use XMonad and don't want to break my system. I'm at a loss of how to continue. Can anyone offer insight?

ghc-pkg told me that regex-posix was a broken package. I unregistered it and reinstalled it with cabal. Then tried to install elm again:

Cannot launch indesign CS4

When i try to launch Indesign it will not open. This error code comes up: Cannot load the CompFontMgr.InDesignPlugin plug-in. It is dependent on the Text.InDesignPlugin plug-in, which failed to load. Please check documentation for the Text.InDesignPlugin plug-in.

have you tried rebooting?
Did you make any changes tot he computer since the last time you used ID?

CS4 Error on Lauch cannot load CKJGRID.RPLN

Please help. I used my ID CS4 last week without a problem. I have un-re-installed and still receive the same message. Adobe told me they do not support CS4 any longer. I work for a non-profit, we will not be upgrading this year for sure! I can open the same document on someone else's machine, when it is available for me to use. thank you.

Netlogon and Workstation Service will not start.

I have a Windows 2012 R2 Standard guest installed on the HyperV Machine running windows 2012 R2 with SCVMM2012 R2.
When I install the server the Workstation and Netlogon service will not start. I have only made a clean installation with no extras. I keep getting this error in th system event log:
The Workstation Service depends on the Browser Support Driver service which failed to start because of the following error;
Windows cannot verify the digital signature for this file. A recent hardware or software change might have installed a file that is signed incorrectly or damaged, or that might be a malicious software from an unknown source.
Event ID: 7001
I have searched forums and I have not been able to locate a solution that worked for me.
I have tried to install from another media but the result is the same every time.
Have anyone some suggestion to what I can do to get this working?

Suggestions on upgrading

I just received my first mac, it was free from a friends office, so i'm planning on upgrading instead of buying something newer. It is a G4 sawtooth 400mhz, completely stock. I'm looking for suggestions for which order i should upgrade the components, I want to use os 10.4 , it currently has os 9.0, can i go straight to 10.4 or do i need to upgrade to something in the middle first ? I plan on getting either the radeon 9200 or 9800 and want to get upgrade to a sata drive, been looking at the OWC controller card and maxtor 500gb (great price) I also plan on getting around a 1.6 processor or maybe alittle more depending on price. Any suggestions on which order to install all of this stuff would be greatly appreciated.

Follow Tom and Texas Man's advice on the OS/firmware, and you'll be in good shape.
In reference to the graphics card,, Tom mentioned that you might have power problems with the 9800. Look inside your G4, and check on the side of the Power Supply for the wattage. If your power supply is 200 watts, the 9800 may be a risk. If the PSU is 237 watts, many, many G4 Sawtooth users are running the 9800 with no problems (including myself). You will find it hard to find a 9800 currently, but a flashed PC version 9800 will work very nicely, make Tiger really shine, and cost about $100 less than the Mac version. These cards are very often sold on eBay.
If your Sawtooth has the lesser PSU-200 watt, you would be best looking for an ATI Radeon 9000 Pro Mac. These cards can be found used on ebay, as the card is no longer produced. Forget about the 9200, as it is PCI graphics, and the Sawtooth is AGP.
The SATA and controller is a nice idea....
As far a CPU, stick with a 7455 processor based upgrade, They have L3 cache, which 7447's don't, and outperform faster 7447's because of this. They are plug and play, and will give you the most bang for your buck. The OWC 1.5 and the FastMac 1.5 ghz are very nice processors, and very reasonably priced:

If your mac is of the "uni-n 7" version, you can put a dual processor in. The PowerLogix dual 1.3 is excellent value. Check at the bottom of the linked page, to find out if your G4 is Uni-N 7:

My IndesignCS6 doesn't start up.

Yesterday my Cloud Indesign CS6 didn't allow the placing op EPS illustrations.
Today it won't start up.
Messages:
Cannot load the DATAMERGEUI.APLN plug-in. It is dependent on the DATAMERGE.APLN plug-in. which failed to load. Please check documentation for the DATAMERGE.APLN plug-in.
After closing this message there is a second message:

I tried to remove the Indesign CS6 version and install it again, but removing won't proceed.
Is there a simple answer?

A collegea of mine is running the same software.
I fixed the problem by deleting my Adobe Indesign CS6 Plug-Ins file and replacing it with his Plug-Ins file.
The problem may be started by my system failing to execute the updates (error code U44M1P28).

Problem kicking off process chains using Tivoli Job Scheduling

In our pre-production BW system testing,when the process chains are being kicked off through Tivoli,they are not working.
We dont get issues when the chains are run directly in BW,without using Tivoli.
The jobs with 'after event' RSPROCESS setting that kick off next node on each node's completion,are not leaving out a 'copy' after a scheduled run.
So in the next run from Tivoli,the dependency job isnt there in scheduled status,which fails the chain.
We tried manually copying the dependency jobs on the nodes.Doing this,chain does kick off from Tivoli.But again jobs dont leave copies and next run from
Tivoli fails.We tried using 'periodic job' setting.This leaves copies of job.But then why is BW able to copy out and kick off jobs,while this isnt happening when kicked off through Tivoli.
A node in the process chain is BLUE when it has a scheduled job ready in sm37,but turns GREY(no scheduled job is there in sm37),once the Tivoli kicks off chains after the manual copy.
We suspect this either to be a authorization problem or an issue with how it works when kicked off through Tivoli.Process chain 'context' is somehow not created when it runs through Tivoli.
Anyone seen such an issue before?Suggestions are welcome..

The chain does get kicked off from Tivoli.
But the job fails in Tivoli as..when it tries to hand over execution to the 1st local chain in the 'meta chain' the required job isnt there in scheduled status,with the 'after event' RSPROCESS dependency set on it.

Help with ID free trial from the Creative Cloud

I'm using the trial version of the Creative Cloud (on a PC with Windows XP) and had success downloading. However, when I try to launch the application ID I start receiveing errors.
For example."The procedure entry point GetLogicalProcessorInformation could not be located in the dynamic link library KERNEL32.dll." was one error I recieved. Then, "Cannot load the DYNAMICDOCUMENTS.RPLN plug-in. It is dependent on the TRANSPARENCY.RPLN plug-in, which failed to load. Please check documentaion for the TRANSPARENCY.RPLN plug-in." Then there will be another error about SVG EXPORT.APLN plug-in.
Then ultimately I get the force close error and it shuts down the app. Is it a system error or application??

You are recieving 2 error :-
"The procedure entry point GetLogicalProcessorInformation could not be located in the dynamic link library KERNEL32.dll."
This particular error means that you have a problem with your OS install (it's missing a function that should be there).
And is there any chance that you had problems installing one of the OS service packs?
Upgrade to Win XP SP3 and then check.

Xmobar-0.15 depends on transformers-0.2.2.0 which failed to install.
