My server don't have X installed and this step is executed by agent. Why OdiBeep wants to use X server? Is this normal? Also, sometimes this error is thrown, sometimes does not. Can I prevent this error or I should rather to avoid using OdiBeep?

  • Wow, what a pain install is, still have errors, is this normal?

I am new to the Adobe community, I tried a trial of cs4, then purshased it, design premium.  That was a few months ago, all is well until I tried to install my upgrade to web premium cs5.  The PC has crashed twice, and it has more than enough memory and speed.  It is only a few months old, about 15 days older than the cs4, nothing on it but Adobe and micorsoft office.
I am up and running, but have these install errors

I do appreciate all of the loyalty to adobe products, but as being new to pourchasing an upgrade, this seems a lot of money to have all of these issues
is this normal for adobe and should I get used to substandard performance in the beginning of a product launch.  I am pretty sure the first crash had to do with being pestered by windows asking for feedback and these windows were fighting with the antivirus program and firewall.  I had to turn off the firewall and antivirus to install. seems that smart software designers would anticipate people having firewalls on pc designed to be hooked up to the net

Any CPU temperature below the ambient/room temperature can not be real. If you care about the real temperature of the CPU although your system is stable the monitoring software and/or sensor need calibration. I did the following way if you are interested.

Depending on your carrier, with AT&T there shouldn't be a problem.
If you with Verizon, you will need to be on Wifi, to do that.

Click here and follow the instructions. You may need to completely remove and reinstall iTunes and all related components, or run the process multiple times; this won't normally affect its library, but that should be backed up anyway.

  • There was an error opening this document. Access denied.

    Greetings,
When I did my taxes last year (March 2012), I downloaded some pdf files from the IRS.  Form 1040 was a writable file and I filled it out as needed.  This file was saved on a Vista machine running XP.  A few months ago, I upgraded that pc to be Windows 7 SP1.
Today I'm getting ready to do my taxes for this year.  When I double click on last year's Form1040.pdf, I get the following error message:
There was an error opening this document.  Access denied.
Interestingly, I can open other pdf files, like the Form 1040 Instructions.  I do not think that I password protected my Form1040.pdf.  The reason that I think it isn't password protected is because I'm not being prompted to enter a password.
I copied the file to an old spare XP machine (XP Home, version 2002, SP3) that I have and it opened fine.  It did not prompt for a password.  I printed copies of last year's forms from that XP machine, so this isn't an emergency for me, but it is mildly annoying that I can't figure out what's wrong.
I have Adobe Reader XI version 11.0.2 installed on both machines (the Windows 7 machine and the old XP machine).
To summarize, it was created on Vista, I can't open it with Windows 7, but I can open it with XP.
Normally I would consider uploading the file in question, but in this case, I hope you'll agree that might be a bad idea!
Advice on how to get this to work on Windows 7 would be appreciated.

Pat Willener:  Thanks!  That solved the problem.
For anyone else having this problem, here's a detailed list of how I used Pat's advice to solve my problem:
    1.  Right click on the problematic file
    2.  Select Properties
    3.  Select the Security tab
    4.  Press continue
    5.  In the "Permissions for MyFile.pdf" dialog, press "Add".
    6.  In the "Select Users or Groups" dialog, press "Advanced".
    7.  The next dialog that pops up is also named "Select Users or Groups".  Press "Find Now".
    8.  Scroll down the list of search results until you find your username.
    9.  Double click on your username.
    10. Press ok in the "Select Users or Groups" dialog.
    11.  Press ok in the "Permissions for MyFile.pdf" dialog
    12. Press ok in the Properties dialog.
    done.

  • There was an error opening this document. This file cannot be found

An automation script on one of our QA environments kept tripping on the error: "There was an error opening this document. This file cannot be found".  The same script ran fine against our Production servers (hint, which were "whitelisted").
It took a little time to resolve/trace what was happening (but with the aid of ProcessMonitor and tracing all "pdf"-related file activity...)
The problem lies squarely between McAfee (75%), Adobe (20%) and Microsoft (5%):
NORMAL WORKFLOW.  IE (Internet Explorer) when popping a PDF document, has to (1) write the document to the IE cache, then (2) launching and "handing off" the document reference to the Adobe viewer (which might then be able to open the document, et al) -- assuming largely a "synchronous" workflow.
BUT "WAIT", HOLD THE HORSES -- McAfee takes ownership and decides infact "wait for us" (during the workflow), it wants to first perform a virus scan on the document (ahead of writing the document to cache) involving potentially large latency (delay) before making the document available to the system. However, instead of "fessing up"-that their scan may be taking too long, McAfee appears to have taken their work "off-line" in violation of the sychronous interface above. I'm guessing the developers at McAfee might have been trying to hide any extra processing overhead being incurred by assuming they could somehow convert this to an "asychronous" event.  (This may also have more reach than just PDF's.)
Unfortunately, the browser's "PDF OPEN"-dialog box pops allowing Adobe to launch-and-open the "as-yet-not-virus-scanned-and-thus-not-yet-cached"-document. Thus clicking the OPEN-button will cause the related "...FILE NOT FOUND"-error to be seen (because the file is still in McAfee "limbo").
Note: If you close the ADOBE reader (but don't yet close the popup-OPEN-dialog) you can click OPEN a second time and it will probably now open the document - which McAfee finally finished scanning!
You can observe all these interactions with ProcessMonitor, and use the monitored file states to adjust the timings of events to reproduce both the failure and non-failure scenarios.
    - Best Regards, Ziggy
ps. My assessed distribution of "ownership" of the problem is because ALL these parties should be aggressively resolving this for the customer-base!

What, exactly, were you trying to do when you got it, and how?

My new iPad air requires a reboot at least once a day, sometimes more . Is this normal?

That type of error could indicate a WiFi network problem. That type of error can usually be gotten around by simply turning off/on WiFi in the Control Panel or Settings. There may or may not be any problem with your iPad Air. It won't hurt to have it checked out. You could also test your iPad on some other WiFi networks to see if it has any problems there. If it doesn't you might want to take a closer look at your network.

A "quick" fix that worked for me was to uninstall Adobe... then download the base install for Adobe Reader 11.0.
Then download each of the individual updates and run them sequentially.
I've installed back up to the last security update which is version 08 and have been able to do normal Save As operations.
You will have to disable automatic updates in order to stay at version 08 until Adobe resolves this issue in a later release.

Upgraded from 10.6.8 to Mavericks last week on my MacBook Pro running the 2.4 GHz i5 and it's painfully slow on start-up- I mean, 5 minutes or more, to be fully functional... Is this normal?

Try these in order testing your system after each to see if it's back to normal:
    1. a. Resetting your Mac's PRAM and NVRAM
        b. Intel-based Macs: Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC)
    2. Restart the computer in Safe Mode, then restart again, normally. If this doesn't help, then:
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the
COMMAND and R keys until the Utilities menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the
computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager
screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
    3. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu. Select Restart from the Apple menu.
Reinstall the 10.9.2 update: OS X Mavericks 10.9.2 Update (Combo).
    4. Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion, Mavericks: Reboot from the Recovery HD. Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion, Mavericks from the Utilities menu, and click on the Continue button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.
Reinstall the 10.9.2 update: OS X Mavericks 10.9.2 Update (Combo).

  • AIR, Acrobat/Reader XI 11.0.06 - There was an error opening this document. This file cannot be found

    Hi,
After Adobe Reader and Acrobat updated to v11.0.06 I've started getting the following error message when I try to load PDF file into my AIR application on Windows (Vista and 7) machines: "There was an error opening this document. This file cannot be found."
I'm loading PDF just like it's been described in Flex/AIR documentation. HTMLLoader loads html that looks like: <html><body><object id="PDFObj" data="app:/pdfs/test.pdf" type="application/pdf" width="100%" height="100%"></object></body></html>
The file is in place and I've tried opening it from the Reader itself without any errors. When I uninstall Reader XI and install Reader X instead everything comes back to normal and the file is opened without an error.
What was changed in the Acrobat/Reader 11.0.06 that it prevents PDFs from being opened from AIR application? Or was it changed even before 11.0.06?
    Kind regards,
    Roman

Fyi, in addition to my earlier post, the other pc is using Adobe 8.1.1 and no other patch. I was trying to find 8.1.1 version but could not find a trust worthy site to load from. Do you think the error caused by using the 8.1.2 version? Thanks

  • My HD needs to be Repaired every month. Is this normal?

I joined the Apple family in February 2012 with the purchase of my MacBook Pro 15". The MBP has been working absolutely wonderfully and confirms why I gave up on Windows and PCs. The only "fly in the soup" has been that I must run Repair Disk at least once a month due to errors found when I verify my HDD.
Is this normal maintenance or not? If it is not then why do I need to do it so often? Any insights would be greatly appreciated.

"Incorrect size for file temp" alerts can be safely ignored
You may notice some "Incorrect size for file tempnumber" alerts when you attempt to verify or repair a volume using Disk Utility or fsck_hfs with the "-l" option. You can safely ignore these alerts for any "tempnumber" files.
For example, you might see something like this:
    Verifying volume “Macintosh HD”
    Checking HFS Plus volume.
    Checking Extents Overflow file.
    Checking Catalog file.
    Incorrect size for file temp420595
(It should be 0 instead of 84538)
    Incorrect size for file temp468627
(It should be 0 instead of 16464)
    Checking multi-linked files.
    Checking Catalog hierarchy.
    Checking volume bitmap.
    Checking volume information.
The volume Macintosh HD needs to be repaired.
Error: The underlying task reported failure on exit
    1 HFS volume checked
    Volume needs repair
If this happens, use fsck in single user mode, or start up your computer from a different volume before verifying or repairing.
Advanced: This issue can happen because the on-disk size for truncated open-unlinked files doesn't get updated before you start a live verification. The presence of these files doesn't cause an issue because their in-memory size is correct. These files are deleted as soon as they are closed. If your computer does not shut down normally, they will be deleted during the next startup.

    Hello
I believe 4patch to be correct in that Adobe does not offer support for their free products via the forums, rather the forums are a way for the community of users to offer/share support to each other. I have witnessed similar issues you are experiencing Suzanne in my support of thousands of machines for the state of PA. I believe you are dealing with a corrupt entry in your Windows registry which uninstalling/reinstalling doesn't seem to affect. This could be due to other software that is installed and/or running on your system but I am not certain of the root cause at this time.
I have a good amount of success using Microsoft's free online safety scanner to clean up miscellaneous registry issues. Normally, I use this tool on systems which have been infected with malware. It works ok as a security tool but the main reason I use this tool is because it incorporates a registry scanner/cleaner which has been absent from Microsoft's operating systems since Win2000. You could also use a third-party registry cleaning utility but I am a little leery of such.
Windows Live OneCare Safety Scanner for Vista:
    http://onecare.live.com/site/en-us/center/whatsnew.htm
    I recommend:
    1. Uninstall Reader 9.x
    2. Reboot your system
    3. Run the scanner allowing it to clean/fix anything it finds
    4. Reboot your system when the scanner finishes
    5. Reinstall Reader 9.x
I would also seriously consider disabling any anti-virus software prior to running the scanner as well as when you reinstall Reader as it could possibly interfere with the installation process. Once complete, re-enable your AV software.
You could also try System Restore, restoring the registry to a known good version from the past when it worked as expected.
    I hope this helps!
    Michael
