XP Issue w/Sequence of Loading Oracle 8i SQL & 6i Forms

I am in the 8i Application Developer Cert Track working on MS Windows XP.
Our class was provided with Oracle 8i Personal Edition (for SQL) as the first product to load for Intro to PL/SQL (class I) and PL/SQL Blocks (class II).
That product is loaded and is working fine.
I am now in the Internet Forms I Class and have been given Oracle 6i - Forms & Reports to load.
I am told the order of installation is a problem IF Forms is not loaded BEFORE Oracle 8i.
I am getting the following error when the XP machine attempts to read the CD-ROM with Oracle 6i Forms and Reports: orainst.exe encountered a problem and needs to close.
Is there a specific version of 6i Forms for XP? Where can I locate and download this version?
I am looking for instructions on how to resolve the issues related to the order of installation since 8i is already loaded and attempting to remove this product does not remove it completely.......AND the 6i Forms CD will not even run on XP.
ANY direction would be appreciated.

the errors disappeared.
The scripts were located under the javavm/install

Oracle Database 11g Administrator or Oracle PL/SQL and Forms Developer?

Hi,
I am thinking about doing an Oracle certification course- Oracle Database 11g Administrator or Oracle PL/SQL and Forms Developer.
Oracle Database 11g OCP and OCM certification requires 3 mandatory training courses to be completed that costs between $1900 and $3250/each. Oracle PL/SQL certication doesn't require any mandatory training course.
Which one of these would be a good choice? Please advise.

Regardless of which path you want to take, in order to get the OCP certification in either the DBA or PL/SQL developer track, you must first obtain the respective OCA certification for that track. I'm assuming that since you are still undecided in which path to take that you haven't started working on either yet. If you look at the pages for the OCA DBA and OCA PL/SQL Developer certs and what is required for each, you'll see that the first block of tests for either certification (the SQL based exams) has the same options (1Z0-007, 1Z0-047, 1Z0-051) and passing one of those SQL based exams gives credit towards obtaining both OCA certifications. That might be a good place to start.
Doing one of these tests first might give you some extra time to decide which track you want to pursue. But as Justin said, it really depends on what you do (or plan on doing) in your career as to which path might be more beneficial for you.
As for the OCM level stuff, I wouldn't even think about it until you get the OCP. One step at a time... Same with OCP before OCA. That being said, my suggestions are just that, suggestions. You're free to take any exams/courses in any order, but you won't be able to obtain the certs until you have completed the requirements for each.

Issue while importing table from oracle to sql server using import and export wizard

Please check whether the table name in the Oracle database has lower case letters. The table name should be exactly correct.
In addition, the issue might be related to the Oracle driver. What provider/driver do you use? If you use Microsoft OLE DB Provider for Oracle, you can try the
Oracle OLE DB Provider. If you use Enterprise or Developer edition of SSIS 2008 or higher, you can also try the
Microsoft Connectors for Oracle by Attunity. The Oracle OLE DB Provider and Microsoft Connectors for Oracle are proved to have better performance.

OracleXMLSave class in the Oracle XDK is being used to load XML data into an 8170 database. The Java code is running in IBM WebSphere with container-managed transactions. When JTA is enabled with the Merant JDBC driver for Oracle, we get the following error when the XML is loaded:
oracle.xml.sql.OracleXMLSQLException: Cannot enable auto commit within JTS
transaction
     at java.lang.Throwable.fillInStackTrace(Native Method)
     at oracle.xml.sql.dml.OracleXMLSave.saveXML(OracleXMLSave.java:2213)
     at oracle.xml.sql.dml.OracleXMLSave.insertXML(Compiled Code)
This suggests the OracleXMLSave class is not aware of the fact that it is now operating in a JTS transaction where control is managed elsewhere. i.e. should also not attempt to commit or rollback, as this is the responsibility of the container.
Is there a property which needs to set to prevent the above or does the XDK not work with J2EE (JTS) transactions?.
If you have any useful comments, let me know. Testing the above presents me with a number of problems so if this is easily explained , let me know.

Clearly , there does seem to be something a bit odd with the above stack.
<Bug:1917808> mentions OracleXMLSave in context of plsql equivalent : dbms_xmlsave . i.e dbms_xmlsave is a wrapper around OracleXMLSave class.
disabling autocommit on connection as follows should help:
conn = DriverManager.getConnection("connect string","scott","tiger");
conn.setAutoCommit(false);
to disble auto commit and see if this has an effect.
This issue might be <Bug:1497506>. If disabling autocommit does not work then it appears that it could be this issue .

Want to use sequence object of oracle when loading data in sql loader

I want to use sequence when loading data in sqll loader, but the problem is i could not use sequence object of oracle to load the data by sql loader, i can use sequence of sql loader.
I want to use sequence object because in later entries this sequence object will be used.If i use sequence of sql loader how can i use oracle sequence object
Is there any other option

I am using a surrogate key column in my target table alongwith the natural key. The natural key is populated by the primary key of my source table, but for the surrogate key, I have created a sequence in my oracle schema where the target table exists and have used the following code for mapping:

I have chosen to execute this code on target.
Among my attempts to solve this problem was to set Create Index option of the CKM Oracle(Create Index for the I$ Table) to No so that it wont create any index on the flow table. I also tried to use the simple CKM Oracle km . Both solutions allowed the interface to execute successfully without any errors, but the data was not loaded into the target table.
When I right-click on the Prj_Dim_Region data store and choose Data, it shows empty. Pressing the SQL button in this data store shows a dialog box " New Query" where I see this query:

I have one Oracle data model with 19 source tables and one SQL Server data model with 10 target tables. I have created 10 interfaces which use JournalizedDataOnly on one of the tables in the interface; e.g in interface for DimCustomer target table, I have 2 tables, namely Customer and Address, but the journalizing filter appear only on Customer table and this option is disabled for Address automatically.
Now I want to create a package using OdiWaitForLog event detection. Is it possible to put all these 10 interfaces in just one package to populate the target tables? It works fine when I have only one interface and I use the name of one table in the interface for Table Name parameter of OdiWaitForLogData event, but when I try a comma seperated list of table names[Customer, Address] this error happens
java.sql.SQLException: ORA-00942: table or view does not exist
and if I use this method <%=odiRef.getObjectName("L","model_code","logical_schema","D")%>, I get this error

Please let me know how to make it work?
Do I need to create separate data models each including only those tables which appear in their corresponding interface and package? Or do I need to create multiple packages each with only one journalized interface to populate only one target table?

I am currently connecting to the Oracle "Rdb" 7.0 database (located on
VMS) - not Oracle Oracle.
The SQL Service software we're currently using is version 7.1. This
version works well with the OCI8 driver (when connecting to the
database from Windows NT). This version of SQL Service however does
NOT work for the THIN driver (unless we upgrade the SQL Service to
version 7.1.5.5 - which we're not prepared to do so because it is not
stable enough from our previous test/trials). SQLSRV Version 7.1.5.5
works for THIN driver but it will result in uncommitted
transactions/unresolved connection/stopping of listener issues and
there is a need to restart the service from time to time. Oracle has
since confirmed that this is a bug that they have yet to resolve...
So we have to stick to OCI8 (THICK) for the time being. I would really
appreciate it very much if you can tell me the various OCI libraries
that I need to load (in terms of WebLogic Server config file settings
etc..).
By the way I have already installed the Oracle 8 client software on
the NT server (where WebLogic Server is) and I have also set up the
relevant SID (using the Net8 Assistant) that points to the Oracle Rdb
database on the VMS. I have also tried using SQL*Plus to connect to
the database and I can connect properly to the database. But WebLogic
simply doesn't seem to load the software.

ORA-00054 error when loading Oracle table using Data Services

Hello,
we are facing ORA-00054 error when loading Oracle table using BO Data services
(Oracle 10g database, BODS Xi 3.2 SP3)
Test Job performs
1- truncate table
2- load table (tested in standard and bulk load modes)
Scenario when issue happens is:
1- Run loading Job
2- Job end in error for any Oracle data base error
3- When re-running the same Job, Job fails with following error
ORA-00054: resource busy and acquire with NOWAIT specified
It seems after first failure, Oracle session for loading the table stays active and locks the table.
To be able to rerun the Job, we are forced need to kill Oracle session manually to be able to run the Job again.
Expected behaviour would be : on error rollback modifications made on table and BODS stops Oracle session in a clean way.
Can somebody tell me / or point me to any BODS best practice about Oracle error handling to prevent such case?

the ora-0054 can occure depending how the job failed before. If this occures you will need the DBA to release the lock on the table in question
Or
AL_Engine.exe on The server it creates the Lock. Need to Kill Them. Or stop it..

Problem in Sequence of loads to BI from 2LIS_11_VAITM

Dear Experts,
We are facing issue in the data loaded from 2LIS_11_VAITM to a write optimized DSO. Data records loaded from the PSA to the DSO is not in the same sequence as they are present in the PSA. Please find below the details with an example.
Data present in the PSA as below.
Data Record     | Cancel. Ind     | Sales Order |Item     |Material     |Order Qty
1     |     |1000     |10     |201                  |10
10     |X     |1000     |10     |201                  |-10
11     |     |1000     |10     |205                  |10
In the above sales Order, the material no. is posted as 201 and then later it was changed to 205 in the same day. Hence there are 3-records for the same order and item.
The same data when loaded to the write optimised DSO, the sequence is changed as follows.

When we load this data to a standard DSO with key fields as Sales Order and Item, the record which we are getting is with the material 201 as below.

Now the basic problem is with the sequence change while loading from the PSA. This is a simple example with the change in the material. Similar to material, there are some other fields which are also changing which results to the same kind of situation.
Kindly help us in resolving this issue. Please get back for any further details.

Negative values in the sense those all are Image values. suppose if you see you total amount for one month in BI same check with your source it will match. when you will get negative values for perticular doc or material when you willl change the doc original value then it will reflect.

Oracle to SQL server switch mapping issue?

Hi All,
We are switching the DB from Oracle to SQL. As a result our existing mapping seems to create issue while we are trying to INSERT data.
We changed some of the date setting as and also the hasQuot to Yes so when it goes to the SQL server it runs as CONVERT(datetime,'currentDate/time', 120)
Before doing this change we were getting the error
com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerException: Conversion failed when converting date and/or time from character string.
Now we are getting the error
com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerException: String or binary data would be truncated
Also other date fields are sent with '' like '20150427'
Additionally fields which are Characters are also sent in '' like 'Shaibayan' but when these fields are coming empty at that time the Audit log SQL INSERT shows them as ''' i.e. 3 single quotes instead of '' which we should get.

Cause:      An attempt to call an external procedure or to issue SQL to a non-Oracle system on a Heterogeneous Services database link failed at connection initialization. The error diagnosed by Net8 NCR software is reported separately.
Action:      Refer to the Net8 NCRO error message. If this isn't clear, check connection administrative setup in tnsnames.ora and listener.ora for the service associated with the Heterogeneous Services database link being used, or with 'extproc_connection_data' for an external procedure call.

                        iii>select connection type -- if you want to connect client database then- select EZ connect other wise select tns
                        iv>test the connection- then you will get connection succeed.

You do not need to do anything in VS. You do need to configure both tnsnames.ora files, because the drivers do not share any data.

Issue to install mhVTL on Oracle Linux 5.9

Hi Everyone
I'm dealing with an issue to install mhVTL on Oracle Linux 5.9, my current operating system. My goal is to install Oracle Secure Backup once that mhVTL is running.
According to the the link https://sites.google.com/site/linuxvtl2, I have followd this steps:
1.- rpm --import https://www.elrepo.org/RPM-GPG-KEY-elrepo.org
2.- rpm -Uvh http://www.elrepo.org/elrepo-release-5-4.el5.elrepo.noarch.rpm
3.- rpm -Uhv http://dl.atrpms.net/el5-x86_64/atrpms/stable/atrpms-repo-5-6.el5.x86_64.rpm
* NOTE: By default, the liblzo2_2 is not installed and my box doesn't have a repository to find it. For this reason I have installed this rpm file that let my box access a repository with the liblzo2_2 lib
4.- yum yum install liblzo2_2
5. sudo yum install mhvtl-utils kmod-mhvtl
After running all this steps, I get the following message if I perform /etc/init.d/mhvtl start:
/etc/init.d/mhvtl start
FATAL: Module mhvtl not found.
No kernel module loaded to feed these daemons.
Need mhvtl kernel module version at least 0.18.11
Did you remember to compile the 'mhvtl' kernel module ?

If the problem is only to install Xvfb, you can do that doing the following:
# yum list "*xvfb*"

Adding sequence while loading.

I want to add sequence number while loading the data.
Does the sql-loader loads the data as per the record sequence in data file or it selects records randomly?
I am using DIRECT load method.
e.g. the data in data file is as follows
a|transaction
b|trans b
c|trans c
now i would like to add sequence number with each transaction so while loading will the data be loaded as a,b,c?

Toplink Sequence - Preallocation in Oracle

In my application , we are using Oc4j and Toplink. Some times when we
restart the app server , breaks in sequences are observer. We are using native
sequence provided by Oracle. In toplink doc , it is specified that preallocation
is happening and preallocation size will be equvalent to increment size of Sequence created in Oracle. We haven't specified increment size of the sequence and hence it will take default value .. ie 1.. Apprx there is a 20 count difference. This is not happening always...
Any idea about this issue ?

The Oracle DB's CACHE xxx parameter of CREATE SEQUENCE will "Specify how many values of the sequence the database preallocates and keeps in memory for faster access.".
But TopLink's doc implies that it is the INCREMENT BY parameter that is analagous to TopLink's "preallocation size" (i.e. "To avoid sequencing errors in the application, set the TopLink preallocation size and the Oracle SEQUENCE object INCREMENT to the same value. ).
If I specify "...CACHE 20 INCREMENT BY 1" in the database, and preallocation size 1 in TopLink (for a brand new sequence starting from 1), this will work. But do I need to synchronize the CACHE 20 behavior between the DB and TopLink?
Don't we *want* some sort of SEQUENCE caching in TopLink to forego the DB roundtrip?
