  • Xperia z1 Problem AFTER system update to latest software 14.3.A.0.681

Hello people, First of all let my just say that I am new into the ''smartphones world'' so please excuse my queries if they proof to be 'obvious' to you! I have carried out a system update to my Xperia Z1 phone yesterday (Android 4.4.2. kitkat, latest available software 14.3.A.0.681). The update seem to have been correctly performed. However I have since encounter the following issues/problems with my phone and do not know how to fix them: 1) First of all my phone will no longer rotate...why is this? Is this related to the update?? Pictures/photos can no longer rotate and also phone screen does no longer rotate! Why is this..? 2) Second the 'Notifications Bar' structure has changed : is this also the result of the update or can I do something in settings to fix it and make it as before? When I scroll dawn the notifications bar, the icons are no longer displayed at the top line but are instead spread underneath BUT this is AFTER I press 'Quick settings'. 3) Battery signal icon has changed completely: no lines included inside icon to show usage but instead usage %age is now displayed. Also, when I charge my phone, there is no icon flashing as before and now lights flashing.. 4) Also when I want to use the phone after it has remained unused for sometime it states 'swipe to unlock' and makes a 'funny' note upon performance of the act: this was not the case before.. Can you please help me with the above? I am freaking out because I am excited with my new phone and would love to make full use of it properly but it is a bit hard for me since I have no clue how to fix issues/problems appearing every now and then since I am new into these things.. Thanking you in advance

    Hi there,
I think you have fixed your 1st issue.
    2) Yes, Kitkat has changed the Notification Bar structure. Its a bit annoying, but to get around it you can use Widgets - Tools and select the Icon, such as WIFI to be placed on your home screen to avoid multiple clicks. You cant do anything in the settings to make it like before.
    3) Battery Signal Icon - Again a Kitkat update has done that. The good thing is that it has enhanced Battery life considerably.
    4) I am assuming you are stating about the "sound note" it makes when you swipe in. Thats again a Kitkat feature and you can get rid of it though Sound settings if you dont like it.
Reality is that Kitkat runs very well on Google Nexus 5. Apart from that it has issues on every other Android power Smartphone out there. I also own a Nexus 4 who recently got upgraded to Kitkat and compared it with Nexus 5. Was not impressed to be honest.
As of my upgrade on Z1, I have been facing Volume issues. When I play a video the volume is minimized for some reason. Pause and play again and it goes to Normal. I have to reboot it sometimes to play normally. It also takes ages to connect to my 3G provider, whereas previously it was fast enuf. I hope the next upgrade will fix those issues.

  • The only way to fix Xperia P problems after the jelly bean update!

After the jelly bean update my Xperia got slow, I could not answer phone calls, the call log took so much time to appear , I have tried uninstalling external softwares , reseting the phone , nothing worked. Finally I have downgraded the phone follwing the guidelines provided in this link - http://talk.sonymobile.com/t5/Android-development/GUIDE-How-to-Install-Jelly-Bean-ICS-Ice-Cream-Sand...
Now my phone is fast , gallery is working fine , I can receive phone calls , no useless chrome by default , the google search widget works fast , the overall performance is much better. So I would recommend people to downgrade their Xperia p to ice cream sandwich and stick with it. OLD is GOLD!

What is your build version now after downgrading to ICS? I could not download 6.1.1.B.1.54 from the list which was best to me.. Please let me know quickly, I'm having the same **bleep** problem in JB.

  • Xperia T problems after JB update

    Hi,
I'm having some issues after updating to JB. My biggest issues is that when I tap an app, it wont load. If I repeatedly tap it might load, and if it does I can get it to resume from the app history menu.
I also have problems disabling and enabling wifi, either in settings or on the widget.
    I've tried resetting the phone.
    Any ideas?

I suggest that you try to run a software reinstall using SUS.

  • Xperia Z1 problem with sd card

I HAVE PROBLEM WITH MY SD CARD , I HAVE THE PHONE MANY MONTHS NOW AND 3 DAYS AGO THE OPTION FOR THE SD CARD BECAME GREY AND IT CAN NOT READ IT. I ALREADY TRY TO RE-BOOT THE PHONE AND TAKE OUT & IN THE SD CARD BUT NOTHING HAPPENED. PLEASE HELP...I HAD MANY PHOTOS AND VIDEOS IN THERE AND I DON'T WANT TO LOSE THEM..I ALREADY SEND AN EMAIL RAGERDING MY PROBLEM TO SONY BUT STILL WAITING FOR A REPLAY.. :-( THANKS.

Hi and welcome to the community! Since you're new please be sure that you have checked out our Discussion guidelines.
It's hard to say exactly what may have happened but I suggest that you try inserting the SD in an SD reader and check if your able to explore the SD card content on a computer. If not the SD card has probably gone corrupt and may have to be formatted which would result in losing all the data on the card.

  • Xperia Z2_Screen problem while making a phone call

    Hi,
I have bought a  Xperia Z2 two days ago. I think, I have a serious problem. When I want to make a phone call, I am writing the numbers and then press the call button, my screen gets completely dark when the phone is still in my hands (not close to my ears). I can still talk with my phone, but I cannot see the screen, therefore it is very difficult to end the call. If I am pressing the power button one-two or more than one-two times, the screen comes back and then I can end the call. I have a screen protector on my screen, which comes within the package of Z2. I tried if the same problem continues without screen protector or not. The answer is yes, it continues. I boot the phone  in the safe mode, but the problem is still there.
    I am waiting your help...

I see you did your homework about the screen protector and safe mode.Do you have any case?
Also check if proximity sensor works fine.Dial *#*#7378423#*#*-Service test-proximity sensor.

  • Xperia Z1, Problem with OTG and Sony PS3 Headset Pulse USB Adapter

Hi, I did a bit of testing, with headphones Sony PS3 Wireless Headset Pulse , I state that both the adapter and the Sony Pulse Headphones work perfectly on PC and PS3 via the USB adapter , then connect the adapter via USB OTG connection on the Sony Xperia Z1 . With much regret I noticed that the connection between the USB adapter and headphones was established , but the audio was transmitted jerky and scratchy . So I decided to try again via USB OTG headphones Logitech F540 (again, via USB OTG, not via audio jack) , and with much enthusiasm I noticed a connection quick and efficient , without cawing and smoothly ; clear sound as if they were of the headphones connected directly to the Audio Jack with wire . I then decided to try another pair of headphones USB (for PC) , the Creative HS -1200 , connecting via the USB OTG adapter receiver headphones ( ie the same thing I did with Sony and the Logitech ) ; also in this case the Creative Wireless Headphones have received the sound from the USB receiver , without any problem or distortions . Now I want to understand how it might work all this variety of USB devices not Made by Sony , connected via the OTG port , but do not work Devices Made By Sony ? You can solve this problem with the Firmware right?
The firmware installed in my Xperia Z1 is 14.1.G.1.534 .
The OTG cable is fully functional with a multitude of devices (USB HD 2.5 Inch, USB pendrive, USB Audio, USB Mouse and keyboard).
For your info, I already tried to connect the OTG, to a powered USB 2.0 HUB, and on the HUB USB, connect the adapter from Sony and the result is one and the same. The USB adapter will light as the Sony Z1 directly connected to the OTG, but the sound from the speakers gets crackling and jerky. I tried to connect the USB adapter of Sony headphones, and then connect the cable from USB jack to the audio jack of Z1, and of course the audio works perfectly, because it bypasses the USB audio sent by Z1, going to use the 'Jack audio input, and using the USB Headset adapter (Sony Pulse) as a simple transmitter.
Thank you to anyone reply to this.
Edit: i have try with samsung S3 and Samsung S4 with OTG and the Sony HeadSet Pulse work fine with the USB Dongle. The problem is on the firmware audio of the Xperia Z1.

    Two possibility
    The driver is not right
Or the second i know and it's not possible to fix  , they can happen on any audio device with any pc or other host
You can try your headset over a usb hub with a extern power source and connect the usb hud on your phone ,  if this not continu it's a power problem with the usb port
Sometime a usb port cannot provide suffisent power and that affect the audio or any data transfer , a usb hub provide on each port the power they need so when you cronnect your headset that give the good power to him
Few friends know this issue with a variety of device
One use one device on each port on his pc and there happen the pc cannot provide suffisent power for his headset , I suggest to use the minimal on his usb port and he don't have the problem , I suggest to buy a usb port power by an external source and that fixed the problem
If his your problem no update can fix that for fixing you need a Y cable to give more power to the usb port of your celphone and using a external power source (portable charging , solar panel custom 5v usb port with AA batterie)

  • Sony Xperia Z1 - Problems with throwing photos, movies etc

    Hi all,
    I have a Sony sve1511w1e laptop and a Sony Xperia Z1 phone.
I am able to use the throw function to play music via my laptop, and I can throw movies and hear the audio but not see the picture. I am also unable to throw photos across.
I have tried following the user manual but it does not seem to have a troubleshooting section.
Has anyone else had this problem and hopefully found a solution to it.

  • Xperia J- Problem in touch after Jelly Bean Update

    Hello Friends,
I am facing a serious problem in Xperia J after the Jelly Bean Update.
    1) The touch functionality is not working, ie, I am not able to tap the icons to open an app
    2) The back/ home button does not respond to touch
The next point is very interesting:
    3) The touch automatically happens, ie, when  I just unlock the screen by sliding the unlock button, then automatically the apps get selected, closes by itself, ofens the inner pages which I cant even control.
Please help by atleast advising me on how to down grade the softwareback  to ICS.
    Thanks in advance,
    ~Viswanath

It would be worthwhile running a repair:
    To repair the phone software
    1.     Install PC Companion on a Windows PC from Support
    2.     Turn on the phone, and connect it to the PC using a USB cable.
    3.     In PC Companion, under Support Zone and click Start.
    4.     Under Phone Software Update, click Start.
    5.     Click repair phone.
    6.     Follow the on-screen instructions.

  • Xperia m2 problems

    Hello
I bought my Xperia m2 exactly one year ago and i have a few problems and questions:1. Screen developed 3 bad pixels. they are not annoying but still there
    2. Screen developed bright sports- there are areas on the screen that are significaly brigther than their surroundings. That is starting to become annoying3. lower part of the bezel, one that covers microphone and speakers has fallen off
    4. 3.5" audio jack arrived broken, it pushes jack out of it when inserted, i have to hold it in to play
    5. complete rear plastic/glass/cover is extremely easy to scratch which is not a huge problem coz it is after all a budget phone, at least it was supposed to be, it's pretty expensive in croatia; but the problem is extremely easy to scratch camera lens. that is unacceptably bad. front panel has no scratches whatsoever so it's not me.
    6. water damage sticker placement. It's located on the top right part of phone on the very top corner of the sim/memorycard opening. It is protected by a plastic bezel part that has a lot of play so even a tiny water drop can easily find it's way to it by water capillary action. ALSO that's the reason i cant fix my phone coz people at service center will tell me its waterdamage- my fault.
That placement is a most **bleep**youcostumer thing i have seen in a long time. Rly smooth Sony. Now things that can be fixed by software but arent:
    7. light sensor sometimes works perfectly sometimes not at all. dunno why, makes no sense
    8. compass is impossible to calibrate, it always shows wrong no matter how dilligently or what method i use to calibrate it.
    9. audio during call sometimes halves loudness by half and keeps it that way until the end of a call, volume rockers cant turn it higher anymore
    10. also earspeaker sometimes doesnt work. sometimes starts working when a next call happens sometimes no, restart fixes it. loudspeaker works, thats how i know thats the problem
    11. loudspeaker volume levels are extremely non linear. the ones in the middle are fine, but last two? what the **bleep**
    12. recent task often shows close all (as in apps) while there arent any. It does that since kitkat. i hate that so much
    13. Stamina while excellent, kills google store updated while the phone is charging when the screen shuts down. where is the logic in stamina working when phone is charging? Also didnt it say somewhere that it will allow all downloads in progress even if ecreen turns off?
    14. BIG ONE: cant record anything in loud areas. Sound becomes extremely distorted. with or without mic cancellation. that is a huge problem which is there since the beginning
    15. file transfer by cable is extremely slow and unreliable in media mode. other one is better but then cant touch phone memory so whats the point.
I think thats it. maybe there are few more things but i cant remember them.
one more, phone heats up like **bleep**. whatever i do. even if i just use whatsapp for a few min. in summer its really hateful.
and one more: charging takes 4 **bleep**ing hours on a official charger. WHAT THE **bleep**
I teleported the official charger in the wall then garbage several months ago and use some random one with 1a what that charges at least 1.5 times faster. id say twice but i'll let you have it sony.coz official one was 850ma so lets not stick to that.
also charging in summer and using your phone at the same time is not possible coz the heat is unbearable.
Thankfully thats where the amazing battery comes into play. i charge it only during nightime. battery life is really really amazing. thats why when i throw the phone wanting to kill it i throw it in a pillow or rug or somewhere soft. its a **bleep** of a redeeming quality.
I heard it will recieve android 5.1, please fix problems that can be fixed. thank you and I apologize for my choice of words.
Hope to get a satisfying answer. Kisses from hot Croatia

  • Xperia Z1: Problems with Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync - unable to open emails synced

I have tried setting up my corporate email on the native email app that comes with the Xperia Z1 and have faced problems. The account sets up without any problem and the emails, calendar, To Do, all sync without any problem. But, when I click on any email, I get the error - 'connection error (my email address)'.
I have successfuly been able to setup my hotmail account. I was also able to set up my corporate email account on Nitro Touchdown, and it works without any problems. I have tried removing the account and re-configuring it and the problem still persists.
    Can anyone help with this?

The problem you're having seems to be the same problem as the one described in this thread: http://talk.sonymobile.com/t5/Xperia-Z1/Exchange-Email-problem/m-p/379323 which we are investigating but it only seems to happen with some non Microsoft servers. Could you check what server you're using at your company?

  • My Xperia locate problem

    Hello!
I figured since I had the brand new phone, I should set up the my Xperia thing so that if it's stolen or lost I can find it, just as it advises.
Well... the 'locate' function doesn't report where it is. In fact, it thinks it's about 230 miles away, next to a reservoir... in the back end of nowhere... apparently.
I assume there's something wrong with the setup of it and that this can be fixed, otherwise I sure hope I never lose it!
Does anyone know what the issue might be?...

I personally turned the "my Xperia" option off and just use the "standard" Google device manager (www.android.com/devicemanager/).  I don't know if there are any Xperia specific features, but I didn't notice any over and above what Google already offer and that works for me.  It's also one less thing for my phone to do in the background.

  • Xperia Z2: 10 Problems Users Have, and How to Fix Them

10 annoying issues with the Sony Xperia Z2, and how to fix them
    http://www.digitaltrends.com/mobile/xperia-z2-problems/
I found this article by @digitaltrends on Twitter as I'm researching the Sony Xperia Z2. I hope these issues have been address, especially WiFi dropping. I'm interested in the Z2 because of the Noise Canceling feature, now I will have to do more research to find out which phone is more stable (even though it's a software thing).
Can anyone with xperince with Z1, Z2, Z3 which they feel is the most stable for daily usage and heavy videoing projects? Realiability being the key?

I have the Z1 and have no issues at all - I find that article a load of tosh, How can something be an issue if the owner hasn't read the manual and as an example turned on Tap to wake or are using a 3rd party charger and wonder why charging takes a long time - These are not issues with the phone merely issues with the owner
