On a serious note, we should have the Water Proof test on the Service Menu. And currently, it says "Device does not support the function"... Tested it on water-resistant and waterproof devices from Xperia Go, Acro S, V, Z, ZR, Z Ultra and Z1, and sadly, Xperia Go has only this function working.
so when will Sony incorporate it on our device, and as you market Z1, the waterproof cameraphone?

  • Sony Xperia Z1 Water Resistivity false advertising and poor service from service center

    I have bought Sony Xperia Z1 from eBay on 31 October 2013. I have been using this phone for nearly a year. The phone was good in performance but comes to water resistivity it will resist water for a few months but after few months even though the card slot and all flops are closed, the water gets in.I have faced this on 7th September when i was about to take a photo in pool, the water gets in and the phone was dead. And i took it to the service center ( Repair and Return Technology (I) Pvt Ltd) Egmore, chennai, on 9th September 2014. On 15th September i got a call that i have to pay nearly 20000 to rectify the phone. Then i called the service center and also sent mail to [email protected] and said that i was not satisfied with the reply. Then few days i again got mail like below
    We understand your concern towards the service of your Sony XPERIA Z1.
    We had received your Sony XPERIA Z1 at our Authorized Service Centre – M/S Repair and Return Technology, Egmore, vide Work Order No.W114090906449 with the nature of complaint “Cannot Power On”.
    Upon physical inspection of the product by our engineers, the phone was found to be damaged due to external cause of liquid regression. As we mentioned in our Warranty Terms and Conditions, this service is not covered under Warranty. The Main Board needs to be replaced for satisfactory working of the product. The estimate for this service is Rs 12,488/- and Service charge is Rs.350/-.
    This matter has been discussed with our management.
    We regret that we are unable to comply with your request for free of cost service. We would once again request you to kindly approve the estimate so that we can proceed for service.

    They just mention the flags turn red and so the water has got in. They were unable to explain how the water got in. I have seen several forums that many users facing this kind of issues even all the flaps are closed. I was completely stressed and depressed to hear this. I halfheartedly asked the service center to do the service on 1 October 2014. Today's date is 11 October 2014 but still now i haven't heard any update from SONY. When i asked SONY customer care or service center, they dont even know the status of the product, they saying that the phone has been given for service to next level, I have to wait for few days, But i have been waiting for 1 month. I was completely fed up with Sony Service as they are not even called me once regarding this. I have to call each and every time and not even get proper reply. Its very irritating.
    If SONY is viewing this do necessary action or else you'll lose a premium customer and more customers in future.
    Even though i got the phone how can i use this phone in water ? I completely lost trust in SONY and never buy any SONY product again. I'll go for Micromax next time.

    I see many users here are suffering the same problem,
    Beware of buying Xperia Water resistant products as it may not guarantee waterproof and they don't even give warranty if your phone got water.

    I have had the same problem I have wrote to customer services and I keeping the same reply, that the phone has to be less than 1.5 meters, less than half an hour....... blah blah blah.
    My phone failed in water and I had met all the conditions but they keep fobbing me off I have asked why they advertise the phone as waterproof when obviously its not.  The last reply I got was well it might not be waterproof.
    Absolute rubbish the phone and the customer service.  and dont get me started on the smartwatch that failed in water as well it never worked I threw it in the bin.
    Aviod sony products absolute junk I say.

  • Xperia Z2 water damage

    so i was playing in a pool and i dropped the phone to the bottom, wasnt too bothered, it took a minute for my friend and i to find it, but when i picked it up, the micro sd flap was openand there was water in it.i shook most of it out and started trying to su ck the water out of it with my mouth, (with both flaps open) i can see a litmus indicator by the sim is pinkish, but cant see one by the sd card, (i know it got through there anyways). the cameras and led had water vapour in it, and i kept su cking it out until it wasnt visible any more, but it is back now.when trying to charge it, it goes red and vibrates three times. I am aboout to get a hair dryer (vacuum if i can find one, im in a holiday house) and then put it in some rice. will this work? or is it too late? are there any other better ways to get the water out?

  • Change/Edit the message center number in Xperia X 10 ( Not Mini)

    Dear All,
    I bought xpria X 10 yesterday and i am facing 2 major problems.
    1) I am unable to send sms , i am sure i have to change my message center no but i dont know how to do it ? The instructions are given about Mini but not Xperia X 10.
    2) Not able to sync contacts from my old Nokia N 96 .

    1. X10 SMS service center number is system default and cannot be editor.
    X 10 mini has an option of changing a message center number but this facility is not in X 10 Xperia.
    Wat you advise me to do now ? I can receive messages but am not able to reply to send sms to anyone.
    I went to my service provider and then told me the message center number but i am not able to edit the same in my phone

    Sure looks like there are mayor differences in between different producers phone's and how they handle different environments. Wouldn't it be weird if that wasn't the case also?
    Some phone's camera's are better at handling one interaction then the next one, but might be not so good in the next interaction.
    Good to bring up a comparison so people/user's can see there are differences!
    What do you think about this forum? Let us know by doing this short survey.

  • Screen not working and device not working properly!

    Npw im a careful person with mobile never had issues before 
    Earlier on in the day after just getting my phone today on contract with carephone warehouse i decided to do a little water test and take pics underwater , now the first thing i did was test the pressure of the device by going in the service menu  and when i did it with flaps totaly firmmly close the pressure , so i fought well there shouldnt be any problems if i put it in like 6 inches of  water in clean no redisidue sink ,now  i checked the flaps 6 times bettore putting in water ,now at first i was working fine taking the pics and that thne after 3 mins i pulled out then wiped it clean next thing i know the screen stop working and after the device wont come on proper ie no screen displaying ,now I bouught this because of the amazing battery life and camera now this isnt a cheap pone so it should hold up to what it says it can do , im very disappointed 
    I cant afford to have pay for \a new and its not my fault any help guys?

    i have a service material , named - Water testing - in accounting view of material master - maintained 100 USD for cost involved
    Now if i have punch this service material in my sales order, will it fetch the cost through VPRS condition type, maintained determined cost in item category TAD

  • Z1 bluetooth and network problem after updating to 1.136

    Hi,
    Last week I updated my phone via PC companion when it notified me a new system update was available. The update took me from Android 4.2.2 to 4.3, and the biuld number is now 14.2.A.1.136.
    I use my phone with a SmartWatch 2 all the time, and a SBH20 bluetooth headset in my car. Before the update everything worked fine, but now I have issues with bluetooth connectivity. My SmartWatch 2 randomly disconnects and reconnects to the phone, and so does the headset. In the watch, specifically the Whatsapp notification app by LIS software stopped getting notifications most of the time, although every once in a while it does. The SBH20 also randomly disconnects and sometimes it takes minutes to reconnect by itself. I already unpaired and paired again both devices, even reset the SmartWatch, and the problem persists.
    But the most recurrent issue is that the phone repeatedly notifies me to "Sign in to network"... and has problems connecting to the 4G and even to wi-fi networks, meaning that sometimes I don't get any data at all for who knows how long, because it happens randomly.
    One thing that seems to me is that every time i lose my bluetooth connections it's because (or at the same time) of whatever happens that triggers the "Sign in to network" notification.
    I was really happy of having purchased the whole package of phone, watch and headset, please help me with this.

    This is the responses I go from Sony "Customer DON'T Care....." regarding bluetooth issues - 
    "We can advise Sony Xperia do not test our products with other manufacturer’s devices and so we can not confirm the two devices are compatible.
    As the handset has been updated this does indicate it is running different software which means the Bluetooth will have also been updated. Sadly, as Sony Xperia does not test our products with third party Bluetooth devices we will not have been able to foresee the change with your specific device.
    We could only suggest that you contact the manufacturer of the device for any further assistance as there is nothing further we could advise.
    We do apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused.
    It is not that the software does not work it is the fact that we have updated the bluetooth drivers withing the update you have which no longer makes the bluetooth compatable with your car kit, if you ahve not contacted the car manufacturer already then I would suggest contacting them and seeing if there are any updates needed to the car kit."
    Mmmmmm... so it seems that they DO NOT test any O/S upgrades against anything.....
    It seems strange that both Samsung(S3 running 4.3)  and HTC M* (running 4.4.2) both work perfectly with my car audio system and the "developers" at Sony cant... either that or they just do not care... The smart money is on the latter... My z1 is THE WORST PHONE THAT I HAVE EVER HAD THE MISFORTUNE OF OWNING....

  • Drivers error (fastboot and flashmode) on Windows 8.1

    Hi,
    After update Windows 8 to Windows 8.1, fastboot and flashmode (so Sony Mobile Update also) doesn't works.The phone (any Xperia. I tested Xperia J and Xperia LWW) is detecting as 'not recognized USB device'.
    I'm sure that this is not my computer/phone problem. Probably existing drivers is not compatible with newest Windows.
    I tried to reinstall the software / drivers - still not working.
    On Ubuntu fastboot and flashmode works well.

    At the moment, PC Companion and Update Service does not support software update/repair of Sony Xperia P, Sony Xperia J or Sony Ericsson Live with Walkman in Windows 8.1.

  • Upgrade to 3.0.1 made 3GS not work on 3G or EDGE, advices?!

    I just got my 3gs, it was working perfectly until I decided to upgrade to 3.0.1, now my phone won't go on 3g or edge network. I can still use the wifi, but it beats the purpose.
    Please any advice?
    The phone works, ipod works, wifi works. Already done reset, restart, might consider downgrading... or unlocking.

    I suppose my complaint is more to do with attitude than the net result. My phone did not need replacing as such, as it was a perfectly good phone, the problems were software related. A simple downgrade would have alleviated the situation, and possibly an explanation as to why there might be a problem would have been nice. I would not expect that sort of service from perhaps a regular store employee as they are not expected to have that technical information, but to warrant the title of Genius I personally feel should carry more weight.
    The distance travelled irked me because the issue could have been resolved on my first trip to the store by simply handing the phone in and receiving a new one there and then, as my consultation took less than 5 minutes. I know it is policy to go through the Genius first, but as they carried out the water test and the obligatory "Have you restored it?" question the first time, I didn't see the point in having to go through it again, as that is ALL HE DID!
    I felt the Time was important as the employee in question had not had to spend the day fielding
    Possibly my disappointment is misdirected in this instance and my personal grievance lies with an increasingly disparate customer service attitude in this country (UK)??
    Yes I did get a new phone, but did I feel I was treated well by a company that portrays itself as a friendly, approachable and trouble free? No, and there lies the rub.

  • No adjustable Equaliser for N8

    My 6500 slide had a very nice adjustable music equaliser. It is disappointing that this feature was left out for the N8. I very much hope that you will address this issue in your next software update. There are many other N8 owners who feel the same as me.

    iphone 4 got a water testing paper inside the earphone jack, when it rains, water testing paper turn pinkish when I try to plugin my headset, and I risk losing my warranty. So I think Nokia's original design is better to protect the phone.
    And I stuck my phone into my jeans front pocket, with the jack at the phone's bottom, it is quite an natural gesture when I pull out my phone to use, but with with a jack-on-the-top-phone, I have to flip it upside down every time.
    And I dun prefer to do the other way round in order to protect the fit contact of the socket and the earphone plug.
    Maybe minor issue, maybe I'm with Nokia for too long. Sorry for my pathetic English.

    I wonder it means one-way delivery cost or round-trip cost??

  • Any reason why ipad 2 32gb and 64gb is not being sold, less the refurbished ones?

    As stated in the title

    I'm aware of your second link. It is factually an iPad 2. iPad 2,4 marks the 4th hardware revision of iPad 2. What's interesting is that Apple is leveraging on the demand of the iPad's predecessor to "test run" newer technologies like HKMG adopted by Samsung Electronics in the recent years. I'll explain more.
    In layman, HKMG essentially allows shrink the die of the processor. By packing the instruction set and everything on a smaller semiconductor, it results in material savings and various other performance benefits with the main one being
    Power savings, as mentioned in the link (I'm already aware too) due to operating efficiency (good use in the future)
    Better thermal management - the natural effect of reducing inefficiencies also leads to less heat production
    Bottom line is, this technology is fairly new. Definitely, Apple wants to put newer processors like the A5X or any other future processors on a 32nm architecture because the natural efficiency benefits will help mitigate power consumption issues stronger chips may cause. But, Apple is testing the water by putting this on an already stable iPad 2 running a stable A5, that's why they don't making a "A5 v2" available to iPad 2.
    I also have to tell you, it's a true litmus test or water test. The New iPad's A5X runs on 45nm. Which shows they aren't really ready for the technological advancement. Apart from this change, the iPad 2's still an iPad 2. If you haven't considered the iPad 2,4 an iPad 2, you should.
    The iPad 2s should still be available. Look around regional Apple sites. I'm seeing them on mine as well.
