-xprefetch option questions

If I am going to run my software on machines
that support prefetch instructions
(e.g. -xarch=v8plusa), is there any downside
to using -xprefetch=auto?

Hi Paul,
If your data fits in the cache then you may not see any improvement. Since the prefetch instructions occupy the memory slot, they are as expensive as the memory operations that they prefetch. If you see a regression then turn off prefetching.
Code size could increase as the amount of unrolling associated with prefetching also increases. This is not controlled by -xspace. -xspace should have no effect on prefetch generation.

Unfortunately that will not work for this printer. Wireless printing is set up through the printers software that you install on your computer. Since this printer is not a wireless printer, there will be no option to set it up wirelessly in the software, the only options will be ethernet or USB.

Frame 12 install options question

In the Frame 12 install, a box comes up with Options:
-Adobe Framemaker 12 1.3 GB
On the side panel is a tick box with Adobe Framemaker and then indented under that is Adobe PDF Creation Add-On XI 156 MB
-Adobe ExtendScript Toolkit CC
Here are my questions:
Is the "Adobe PDF Creation Add-On XI 156 MB" a crippled Acrobat XI?
(I've been told yes. As I have Professional Acrobat XI, I don't want this.)
If I uncheck the "Adobe PDF Creation Add-On XI", it unchecks the Adobe Framemaker12 box above it
BUT DOES NOT UNCHECK the Adobe Framemaker 12 (1.3 GB) box on the left.
I can't find any documentation about what is included in this package.

Pre-order pickup, reward certificate, and payment option questions

I pre-ordered an item on bestbuy.com for pickup at a local store. When I got there, I asked if I can use my reward certificate and the customer rep said that I couldn't. Is that true?
Another person next to her said she could back out the charges and re-enter the item, but when I told her I got it at a special pre-order price (gamers club unlocked price) she said she wouldn't be able to honor it.
Also, if I bought an item online and picked it up at the store. Can I change my payment method at the register? I asked someone a couple weeks ago and they said they couldn't change payment methods.

We appreciate that you choose Best Buy to place your pre-order! I’m sorry to hear about the confusion you’ve had with this order and some others around how to get that reward certificate added to an order. Hopefully I can help clear some things up for you.
To answer your first paragraph, that it technically true. When you place an order for in-store pickup, you are charged for the order when the store indicates it is ready for pickup. At that point, the payment method cannot be changed. However, once the transaction is complete, the store may be able to perform a return and then re-ring the purchase for you. Keep in mind however, that any funds used from gift cards, reward certificates and your credit card would not be immediately available as in general it takes a few business days for those funds to go back on the cards or accounts.
This leads me to my next point, which is generally we are unable to modify the payment method beyond changing a credit card on your order beyond 30 minutes after the order has been placed. While your credit card is not charged until the item ships or the store indicates that it is ready for pickup, the card is generally authorized right away for 3-5 business days. This is the same time frame we offer for changing shipping or pickup options as well, you can find more information on that here. Another option would be to do as Batman1982 suggested and cancel your order to then place a new one. Again, it may take a few business days for funds to return to gift cards, your My Best Buy account, etc.
However, there should be no reason why they would not have been able to apply the 20% off new games software benefit that you get from being a Gamers Club Unlocked member.

The customer here wanted to set an option 43 and 60 to dhcp adresses in this local pool.
What I am wondering is if the option command I have set works like the excluded addresses command does. Aka setting the option in range from .100 to .199?
I also added the ip dhcp relay information option to the config.
Other suggestions for this?
Haven't really set up many dhcp pools with option before. The customer's goal is to get autodiscovery going on their end.

Intercompany Eliminations Options Question

Hi Forum,
I have a few basic questions around IC Elims, that I want to get other experts opinions on.
1. What are all of the options for IC elims?
Correct me if I am wrong, but you can run IC elims 2-3 different ways. One, being SPRUNELIM logic, two using BRs and SPRUNCONSO logic, and three being SPICBOOKING logic (not sure on this one). Are there any other ways to run this?
2. In a Legal application, it is normal practice to use the business rules and SPRUNCONSO logic. So my question is how do the buyers and sellers entities know who bought or sold from them intercompany?
I just want to understand how others get around this, as my knowledge on using Business Rules for IC elims is limited. So I need to understand how the users will be able to see where IC elims are going to/coming from. From what I can tell IC elims will post to a datasource, but does that give the user the ability to see where the Elim came from or went to?

Question 1
Another way to do elims is to use the same account for both intercompany debits and credits. . The sign that you enter for a counterparty determines whether it is a debit or a credit. This approach will then self eliminate intercompany balances at all levels in the roll-up and it is not necessary to set up elimination rules. The intercompany reporting is then used for merely running mismatch reports and this can be made to be self-policing by the units entering the data. It works particularly well for intercompany payables/receivable, loans payable/receivable, interest payable/receivable, dividends paid/received. Any balance left at group level is the net mismatch on that account and can be analysed on the mismatch report.
Question 2
To do intercompany reporting and elimination you need to set up an intercompany dimension. This is usually the same as the entity dimension, or a flatter version of it. Each entity's intercompany balance must be broken down against the counterparty it is against by using the members of the intercompany dimension. Using the entity and intercompany dimension, it is possible to set the application up so that an entity can run a mismatch report that shows them what a counterpart entity has reported against them as well as what they reported against the counterpart, along with the mismatch. This report could also show the elimination entries.

Of course, the most control will be via the in-game settings. But also, there is a tool from ATI called ATI displays. Using it, you can force games to use FSAA and Antistropic filtering (among others), or you can force them to not use those things. However, I'm not sure if this software is compatible with the Intel Macs, as I haven't tried it myself. Audio out options question - HDMI + component?

I have looked thru the manual and forums, but have not seen the answer to my question.
If I hook an ATV to my TV with HDMI, and also use the Right and Left (red and white component) audio out cables to my stereo (which does not have TOS link digital audio capability), will I get sound delivered to BOTH units at the same time? Basically, I'd like sound to go to my TV and my stereo.
I see in the ATV manual that it is possible to use HDMI and digital audio out. DVI video and component audio out, but I need HDMI video/audio AND component audio out.

The easiest way to accomplish this is to use the HDMI cable from the ATV to the TV and then export the sound from the TV with with either RCA, toslink, or digital audio out cables to your stereo. That is what I do at home. I have a DVR cable box, DVD player, and PS3 Blue Ray player and a HD video camera all hooked up via HDMI to a HDMI hub to the TV and then I can switch the stereo from either the TV audio out (all of the above) or the airport express where I stream music to the Stereo. There is no doubt that the sound quality from the BR HDMI cable of the PS3 has a superior sound.
A tech at curcuit city told me there is a difference in sound between, a expensive Monster HDMI cable and the less expensive cables now available on line, but I have not tried a A/B comparison yet, but am planing to do so. $50-60$ vrs. a few dollars on line aftermarket.

Hmm...
Struts will automatically set one of your options to selected if the form bean's loglevel property matches one of the options. You may be able to override it by setting selected="selected", but I'm not sure.

Selection Option question in Info Package

We would like to stop update Master Data if no master data exists for a characteristics. I found there is a selection options in Info Package Update Tab called "Do not update data if no master data exists for a characteristic"
I added a row in one of the InfoObject which has been used in another InfoObject as an Attribute. I selected this option in the IP and tried to re-load Master Data, and it didn't fail.
What does this option do?

The WHERE clause of the SELECT statement has a special variant that allows you to derive conditions from the lines and columns of an internal table:
SELECT ... FOR ALL ENTRIES IN <itab> WHERE <cond> ...
<cond> may be formulated as described above. If you specify a field of the internal table <itab> as an operand in a condition, you address all lines of the internal table. The comparison is then performed for each line of the internal table. For each line, the system selects the lines from the database table that satisfy the condition. The result set of the SELECT statement is the union of the individual selections for each line of the internal table. Duplicate lines are automatically eliminated from the result set. If <itab> is empty, the addition FOR ALL ENTRIES is disregarded, and all entries are read.
The internal table <itab> must have a structured line type, and each field that occurs in the condition <cond> must be compatible with the column of the database with which it is compared. Do not use the operators LIKE, BETWEEN, and IN in comparisons using internal table fields. You may not use the ORDER BY clause in the same SELECT statement.
You can use the option FOR ALL ENTRIES to replace nested select loops by operations on internal tables. This can significantly improve the performance for large sets of selected data.

Using the shuffle option question.

So I downloaded the new itunes, and for some reason I'm having trouble finding an option to let me shuffle the ENTIRE library. When I click the normal shuffle button in the bottom left hand corner, it only shuffles songs on the selected artist. Anyone know how to shuffle the whole library? Thanks.

What do you mean by "the selected artist"?. I always have my iTunes set to browse so I see the Genre, Artist and Album boxes across the top. Unless I'm doing something specific, I have "All" selected at the top of each box. If I have select shuffle and then start playing song, it picks the next song at random, not from the same artist. What exactly are you doing?

Slideshow into iDvd - Workflow Options Questions

I have about 300 pictures in an iPhoto Slideshow that I want to be able to play on a DVD player. I think I'm doing something wrong, because the .mov file I export from iPhoto is 3.97 GB, but the Disk Image out of iDVD is only 1.11 GB. Besides the file size question, I welcome any other feedback on my approach below.

From what I've learned, I decided to choose settings for the slide show based on this link (comments on the settings recommended woudl be welcomed. I chose the last tip in Step 2, creating an SD version for "ultimate quality"):

And then exported slideshow as a .mov.
In iDVD, I chose 16:9 Ration & Professional Quality, selected a theme, and then click & drag imported the .mov into the project.
I then saved the project as a disk image through iDVD's File menu.
I then opened Disk Utiltiy, selected the disk image, and then selected Burn, & burned to disk.
QUESTIONS:
Do you believe in general that this is a good Workflow to obtain high quality playback on a DVD player?
Do you agree with the particular settings for the slideshow, and for exporting the slideshow suggested in the link above?
What is the benefit of saving as a Disk Image, rather than buring straight out of iDVD?
I'm a bit confused / concerned about the file size drop from exporting the .mov to creating the Disk Image. What is happening there?

There are many ways to produce slide shows using iPhoto, iMovie or iDVD and some limit the number of photos you can use (iDVD has a 99 chapter (slide) limitation).
If what you want is what I want, namely to be able to use high resolution photos (even 300 dpi tiff files), to pan and zoom individual photos, use a variety of transitions, to add and edit music or commentary, place text exactly where you want it, and to end up with a DVD that looks good on both your Mac and a TV - in other words end up with and end result that does not look like an old fashioned slide show from a projector - you may be interested in how I do it. You don't have to do it my way, but the following may be food for thought!
Firstly you need proper software to assemble the photos, decide on the duration of each, the transitions you want to use, and how to pan and zoom individual photos where required, and add proper titles. For this I use Photo to Movie. You can read about what it can do on their website:

(Other users here use the alternative FotoMagico: http://www.boinx.com/fotomagico/homevspro/ which you may prefer - I have no experience with it.)
Neither of these are freeware, but are worth the investment if you are going to do a lot of slide shows. Read about them in detail, then decide which one you feel is best suited to your needs.
Once you have timed and arranged and manipulated the photos to your liking in Photo to Movie, it exports the file to iMovie as a DV stream. You can add music in Photo to Movie, but I prefer doing this in iMovie where it is easier to edit. You can now further edit the slide show in iMovie just as you would a movie, including adding other video clips, then send it to iDVD 7, or Toast, for burning.
You will be pleasantly surprised at how professional the results can be!
