XS-Engine: out of memory

Hi all,
I'm trying to develop a tool downloading quite large amounts of data via the XS-engine.
Unfortunately I'm running in out of memory situations when the result is about 10MB large (using SAP HANA Rev. 70).
Is there a paramter available to raise this limit?
Many thanks in advance for your help
Best regards,
Thomas

Hi Thomas,
You can migrate your Statistics Server into the main Index Server process. Please refer to SAP Note 1917938.
To understand the OOM issue I would recommend you to go through the following links:

  • Error creating window handle and out of memory

    Hello everyone !
    I am having a .Net Windows application (VB.Net) that creates a lot of reports (the same report document for different clients and dates) for exporting them to PDF.
    While the first 75 reports are performed well the 76th report causes an error while creating the window handle and I get an out of memory error as well.
    Searching this forum and the internet I tried a lot of things to get this problem solved:
    - closing, disposing any report as well as setting it to nothing after exporting it to disk (also doing this for used dataset and datatable)
    - doing a single report operation in an own class that is set to nothing immediately after use
    - using garbage collector (methods: "Collect" and "WaitForPendingFinalizers")
    - defining the report, used dataset and datable within "using .. end using" blocks
    - take a single report object for all exports (implemented as singleton)
    - using a background thread to handle report and operation on it
    - changing registry entry "PrintJobLimit" to an higher value as well as to -1
    But none of my tries helped me so far, it's always the 76th report that collapses.
    Interesting thing: Exporting as PDF is not needed for causing the error (switched this off for all reports to test any difference).
    My system:
    - Visual Studio 2008 and .Net 3.5 Service Pack 1
    - Crystal Reports Basic for Visual Studio 2008 Service Pack 1
    Any help is appreciated.
    Thank You very much,

    Hello,
    Saving the report as RPT doesn't save the data which is why it's failing to log on, you have to export it to RPT format, then use that in your test.
    Also, I assume you are using the Report Engine. Try using InProc RAS to load and run the report.
    Just a few lines of code change is all it needs.

  • Running out of memory - not accessing Virtual Memory

    Hi there,
    I am working on a vision application, and trying to process very large images.
    Environment:
    LabVIEW 2014 (14.0f1) 64-bit
    Vision Development Module 2014
    Vision Acquisition Software 2014
    Windows 7 Professional SP1 64-bit Settings:
    Physical RAM = 8GB
    Virtual RAM Settings:
    Unchecked: "Automatically manage paging file size for all drives"
    Checked: "Custom Size"
    Initial Size (MB): 12094
    Maximum Size (MB): 24188
    I read in a sequence of images in the LabVIEW application and stitch it together.  I observe (via Task Manager) the physical memory rise up to approx 7.6GB, and then I am getting the "Out of Memory Error".
    So it doesn't seem to be accessing the virtual memory I have allocated? Is there a setting for this that I am missing?
    Thanks

    LabVIEW does need a contiguous block of memory for every data structure it creates. In addition its arrays are traditionally limited to 2^31-1 elements per dimension since the count member of an array is treated as signed 32 bit integer. This 2^31 limitation very likely doesn't come into play here since IMAQ Vision uses its own internal memory structures and treats IMAQ Vision handles as pointers rather than LabVIEW data handles to make it less prone to unintentional memory copies of the data.
    Basically image memory only gets copied when explicitedly calling IMAQ Vision functions or when passing an image to an image control for display in a window. And that is pretty much unavoidable.So if you create an image that uses 4GB of memory you quickly end up consuming 2 or 3 blocks of contiguous 4GB memory. Due to memory fragmentation, even if your system has still 4 or more GB of memory free, calling a function that (temporarely) causes another copy in memory of that 4GB image may still fail, since there is no contiguous block of memory available anymore in the system. And yes that data has to be in physical memory as it is actively used at that moment.

  • Running out of memory... what to do?

    I am using a mid-2012 non-retina 13" MacBook Pro that I upgraded with a large SSD and 16 gigs of RAM, but I find myself running out of memory every day. I am developing a DirectX11 game engine in a virtualized Windows 7 environment, and my memory needs apparently exceed the 16GB I have. Is there any way to add more memory to my MacBook Pro, or can any Apple notebook hold more than 16 gigs of RAM? (officially or unofficially)
    I can't afford a Mac Pro (a shame since it would have been right at home in my chain of Thunderbolt devices) but if I could upgrade my MacBook Pro with 32GB of memory or more, that would be a life saver. I am starting to think it is unreasonable of me to except my consumer notebook to do the work of a professional workstation, but I figured it couldn't hurt to ask around.
    Thank you for your time!

    I'm sorry, but 16 GB of RAM is the maximum amount of RAM MacBooks Pro can use.
    As you are using Windows in a virtual machine, this RAM problem would be solved if you install Windows through Boot Camp. By doing this, your Mac will run faster because you will not be using all the RAM, apart from getting the maximum performance in Windows.
    Your Mac supports 64-bit Windows 7, Windows 8 and Windows 8.1, so you can install any of them. Then, follow the steps to install Windows in your computer > http://manuals.info.apple.com/MANUALS/1000/MA1636/en_US/boot_camp_install-setup_ 10.8.pdf
    I do not recommend to use Windows in virtual machines if you want to do tasks like game design because they require that your GPU and CPU work at the best performance.

  • Out of memory errors when reporting on checked out files

    My Dreamweaver CC version is up to date. I haven't been able to complete a report to find checked out files. I can see it running at a speed of about 2 files per second. We have a few thousand files on the web server, but I didn't have a problem with CS5.5. I can't understand why it takes so long to simply search for .LCK files. I can search for them using Agent Ransack in a matter of seconds. I've seen some other out of memory issues posted here too, so hopefully Adobe can get this fixed and release the next update soon.
    (I haven't seen any improvement in performance with the 64-bit re-engineering.)

    Hi AdobeJobie,
    We would like to investigate your case. If you have a purchased version of DW, send me your Adobe ID, location, and contact details (email, phone number) over a private message. Click my picture and use the message option.

    Actually we used a workaroud to complete the phase, ie we menually re-issued the command and changed the heap value from -Xmx512m to -Xmx1024m
    Is there a way to defalut the sapinst to pass to the java export command an higher java heap value, ie -Xmx1024m ?
    Thanks in advance and cheers.
    Franco.

    It sounds like you may have a corrupt render file in your 7th episode.  You can set in and out points in 5 minute increments and export those segments to narrow down which clip is the offending clip. Then re-render the offending clip.
    I hope this helps.

  • Out of Memory! error messages

    For a few months I have been getting a series of about 40 error messages when Logic 7.2.1 is starting up. They appear at the end of the startup process. I dismiss each one and at the end of all the messages, Logic appears and seems to work then with no problems. The messages are:
    Out of Memory!
    Out of memory! Couldn't insert or delete data
    Couldn't creat Region
    Out of memory! Couldn't insert or delete data
    These appear with Logic in Native mode and also if I add the DAE audio engine.
    I have trashed prefs. I have cleared out all plugins. The error messages do not go away.
    Does anyone have any ideas as to why these error messages are appearing?

    Is there a specific song it's trying to load on
    startup? Maybe that's corrupted?
    Thanks for the suggestion. There is no Autoload song to load in any of the folders that might have it. The errors appear after I have trashed ALL Logic preferences and Restarted the G5 and then started up Logic.
    If you hold down the Option key near the end of Logic starting up (while it is checking MIDI), this causes Logic to appear without any song loaded. In this case I get no memory error messages. If I then select File / New and load in a generic new song, the error messages appear again at that point.
    So, I think you are correct in thinking it relates to the song that is being loaded but why the generic new song should cause these error messages is not clear to me yet.

  • Out of Memory error after upgrading to Reader X

    We have several PDF documents that work fine on Reader 9.  But after upgrading to Reader X, the files will not open.  Instead, they report an Out Of Memory error and a blank document opens instead.  Removing Reader X and re-installing Reader 9 corrects the issue. This has been reproduced on 3 different PCs running both Windows XP and Windows 7.
    Any suggestions?

    Just to throw in my 2 cents... Adobe has known about the out of memory bug at least since 01/12/2011 because that is when I reported the problem to them.  I even had an escalated support case #181995624 and bug#2800823.  Our problem comes from a EFI Fiery E7000 attached to our Lanier LD460c Copier.  Any pdf's made from that copier will not open in Acrobat X, although they will open in lower versions of Acrobat just fine.  Our only workaround is to keep Acrrobat 9 on office computers, or you can open the offending pdf in Acrobat 9 or earlier and print it to pdf, and then it will open in Acrobat X!!!  They acknowledged that this was a bug, see my email chain below.  This was the last update I received from Adobe, very frustrating...

    The EFI Fiery E-7000 Controller version is 1.2.0 and it handles the scanning and printing functionality of our Lanier LD160c copier.  I have attached two sample files.  One is a 1 page scan from our copier.  The other is a combined pdf that I just created in Acrobat 9.  The first two pages of the combined pdf consists of a webpage that I printed using Acrobat 9 and then the scan from the copier is on the 3rd page.  In Acrobat X, once you get to the 3rd page you will receive the Out of Memory error.  It will open in previous versions of Acrobat just fine though.

    It is a walk up copier and we scan to email.  The EFI Fiery controller E7000 handles pdf conversion for the copier, but yes it has the latest firmware.  The bottom line is that we have 3 or 4 years worth of pdfs created from that copier rendered useless by Acrobat X.  They open fine in previous versions of Acrobat.  Did you get the test pdf file when this case was created?

  • Printsubmitter out of memory error

    Hi,
    I am facing a printsubmitter error message in my Process that calls the output service to merge data from an xml input file with the XDP to generate a PDF document.
    The upstream process (run by a scheduler wait every 1 min) calls a small java DSC to generate the XML from from a database and puts it in the watched folder for the process that is failing. A large number of documents have to be generated (over 10,000) and this is done one at a time. This works well for the first 5-600 files and then all files start giving printsubmitter errors like below.
    At this point I am not sure if this is a problem related the database connection, memory, or the XML file generated. Do I need to increase memory to the forms service? how can this be done?
    I am attaching one of the failure logs below. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • Out of memory issue

    I represent the IT department of a Life Insurance in Hong Kong. I was told by local support to post my question here, so here I am.
    Subject: Out of memory problem
    Crystal report version: 11R2
    Description
    Itu2019s found that when our batch jobs (related to crystal report printing) run for some times (sometimes 30 minutes, sometimes a few hours), will throw an u201Cout of memoryu201D exception. We had tried many ways and spent months to solve the problem, including optimizes coding (like force releasing memory after printing), tested in a brand new system (XP), etc. but it seems that what we had done doesnu2019t make too many different.
    Our jobs are running one by one in a batch daily. For example, a batch may contain 50 jobs while maybe 30 of them are using crystal report 11 R2 for letter printing. We have many error cases, while I would like to choose this fresh one which was happen at the begining of this week and the logic is simple and typical:
    Using rpt As New CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.ReportDocument()
                    rpt.FileName = "c:\ProdApps\LA DLL\report\TermAgentLetter" & letterType.ToString() & ".rpt"
                    ResetReportLogo(dsLogo.Tables(0), rpt)
                    rpt.SetDataSource(dsLogo)
                    ' set printer name
                    If Me.IsPRD Then
                        rpt.PrintOptions.PrinterName = Me.PrinterName
                    End If
                    For Each row As DataRow In dt.Rows
                        Me.CurrentProgressValue += 1
                        rpt.SetParameterValue("Addr1", row("Addr1"))
                        rpt.SetParameterValue("Addr2", row("Addr2"))
                        rpt.SetParameterValue("Addr3", row("Addr3"))
                        rpt.SetParameterValue("Addr4", row("Addr4"))
                        Dim newAgtName As String
                        If row("ContactAgentLastName") Is DBNull.Value OrElse row("ContactAgentFirstName") Is DBNull.Value _
                            OrElse String.IsNullOrEmpty(row("ContactAgentLastName").ToString().Trim()) _
                            OrElse String.IsNullOrEmpty(row("ContactAgentFirstName").ToString().Trim()) Then
                            newAgtName = row("NewAgentLastName").ToString().Trim() + " " + row("NewAgentFirstName").ToString().Trim()
                        Else
                            newAgtName = row("NewAgentLastName").ToString().Trim() + " " + row("NewAgentFirstName").ToString().Trim() _
                                    + " / " + row("ContactAgentLastName").ToString().Trim() + " " + row("ContactAgentFirstName").ToString().Trim()
                        End If
                        rpt.SetParameterValue("NewAgentName", newAgtName)
                        rpt.SetParameterValue("OwnerName", row("LastName").ToString().Trim() + " " + row("FirstName").ToString().Trim())
                        rpt.SetParameterValue("PolicyNo", row("camclq_policy_no"))
                        rpt.SetParameterValue("InsuredName", row("InsuredLastName").ToString().Trim() + " " + row("InsuredFirstName").ToString().Trim())
                        If row("camclq_Letter_type").ToString().Trim().Equals("2") Then
                            'letter 2
                            rpt.SetParameterValue("ResignDate", row("OldAgentResignDate"))
                            rpt.SetParameterValue("OldAgentName", row("OldAgentLastName").ToString().Trim() + " " + row("OldAgentFirstName").ToString().Trim())
                            If row("OldAgentNameChi") Is DBNull.Value OrElse String.IsNullOrEmpty(row("OldAgentNameChi").ToString().Trim()) Then
                                rpt.SetParameterValue("OldAgentNameChi", row("OldAgentLastName").ToString().Trim() + " " + row("OldAgentFirstName").ToString().Trim())
                            Else
                                rpt.SetParameterValue("OldAgentNameChi", row("OldAgentNameChi").ToString().Trim())
                            End If
                            rpt.SetParameterValue("NewAgentAddr", row("NewAgentAddr").ToString().Trim())
                            rpt.SetParameterValue("NewAgentTel", row("NewAgentTel").ToString().Trim())
                        Else
                            'letter 1
                            If row("NewAgentNameChi") Is DBNull.Value OrElse String.IsNullOrEmpty(row("NewAgentNameChi").ToString().Trim()) Then
                                rpt.SetParameterValue("NewAgentNameChi", row("NewAgentLastName").ToString().Trim() + " " + row("NewAgentFirstName").ToString().Trim())
                            Else
                                rpt.SetParameterValue("NewAgentNameChi", row("NewAgentNameChi").ToString().Trim())
                            End If
                        End If
                        rpt.PrintToPrinter(1, False, 0, 0)
                        'rpt.Close()
                        ''End Using
                        'rpt.Dispose()
                        'GC.Collect()
                    Next
                    rpt.Close()
                End Using
        'GC.Collect()
            Next
    As you can see that the rpt object will be closed and released at the end. We also tried GC.Collect() but later we find that is useless (it made no difference), so we commented it.
    After a few time running, in this cases, around 40 minutes, total print out around 1000 letters, it throw error as below:
    System.Exception: Load report failed. ---> System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException (0x80041004): Server is out of memory.    at CrystalDecisions.ReportAppServer.ClientDoc.ReportClientDocumentClass.Open(Object& DocumentPath, Int32 Options)    at CrystalDecisions.ReportAppServer.ReportClientDocumentWrapper.Open(Object& DocumentPath, Int32 Options)    at CrystalDecisions.ReportAppServer.ReportClientDocumentWrapper.EnsureDocumentIsOpened()    --- End of inner exception stack trace ---    at CamBatch.ChangeSAPrintLetter.Execute() in C:\clearcase\IPD\LIFE_TEAM\CAM\DAYEND\CamBatch\ChangeSA.vb:line 64    at ScheduleJobBase.Batch.Run(Object para) in C:\clearcase\ScheduleJob\LIFE_TEAM\SchduleController\ScheduleJobBase\Batch.vb:line 233
    The u201Cout of memoryu201D error was randomly thrown in different line number in most cases, sometimes in setting report parameters, sometimes in setting dataset datasource, sometimes calling print to printer, etc, but all these places are reltated crystal report object.
    A little background and more information:
    We have a master controller program trigger by Windows Scheduled Task, when processing a job, the controller program dynamically load assembly and create the specified class and then put into a new thread for execution. Code snippet:
            Try
        Dim batchJob As IBatch = BatchFactory.LoadBatch(aJob.AssemblyName, aJob.ClassName, p.AssemblyFullPath)
                Me.CurrentBatch = batchJob
                Dim t As Threading.Thread = New Threading.Thread(AddressOf batchJob.Run)
                Me.JobThread = t
                t.Start(p)
                t.Join()
            Catch ex As Threading.ThreadAbortException
                u2026
            Catch ex As Exception
                u2026
            End Try
    Even a job hit u201Cout of memoryu201D problem, the rest jobs that do not related to crystal report are still able to run successfully. So in this application domain, it proved that the memory is actually enough, but only crystal report engine will hit this error.

  • Problems with PNGs... Overall compression + Running out of memory!

    We're having a number of issues with PNGs while working on our first iPhone project, and any assistance would be greatly appreciated!
    Our game is using a large number of PNG assets, some of which are full-frame (though the full-frame files tend to mostly be transparent/use alphas, though apparently that doesn't help memory issues much).
    We're running into two huge problems -
    1) We're running out of memory on device when calling to these full frame sequences, which tend to be anywhere from 10-40 frames each at anywhere from 50 to 250kb in size.
    2) Our overall package size is huge, sitting at around 60mb. I've already compressed the pngs through photoshop to the best of my ability, and I'm not having much luck with downloadable compressors like pngcrush. IS there a way to compress all the pngs through xcode/c++/objective C? The programmers are informing me right now that the only compression possible is whatever I apply directly to my pngs on my end - nothing through code.
    I'm stumped as to how I'm seeing seemingly-complex apps with plenty of content at 1-5mbs, and running smoothly with full-frame animations. I'm imagining the problem is that we're not using a proprietary engine to properly manage things, but I'm wondering if there is a simple solution.
    Thanks in advance, guys!
    P.S. - Already done a bunch of research on my own, and not having much luck. Just wondering if there is something obvious that both the programmers and I are missing!

    * Make image frame smaller? A fully transparent border around an image is pure overhead -- there is still data in the actual pixels (even though you cannot see them), plus the transparent border itself. All it needs is an x/y coordinate and a tiny code adjustment.
    * Use less transparency bits? Perhaps you could do with 1-bit transparency on some images. It'll use 1/8 times the memory (well, globally).
    * Use less colors? 24 bit color might compress down to 16 bits without visual artifacts (esp. when you don't have lots of gradients). Perhaps even 8 bit palettized.
    * Make images smaller? You might be able to get away with enlarging some images.
    Just a few things you could check right away, without major rewrites.

  • MySQL has run out of memory ::Help needed::

    ::Help needed::
    I've created a PHP web application in Dreamweaver, which uses a MySQL database, containing 14 tables.
    On one page, I use a an SQL query to select data from 10 of the tables in the database.
    However, when I try to preview the page in a browser, a PHP warning stating that the MySQL engine has run out of memory.
    Is there a way of increasing the Memory Cache of the engine, or a way to optimize the performance?

    Is this happening locally?
    If it is, try rebooting your system and see if this fixes the problem. If not then you have a problem with your code. If it works locally but not on the server, then you know it's not something in your code causing the issue, so you can confidently go to your host support and have them sort it out.
    With any such situation, testing locally first is a vital debugging step.
    Hope this gives you a path to follow.

  • Out of memory error occurred while processing message at RFC receiver

    Hi Experts
    Hi Experts
    i have a scenario file to RFC BPM bridge Sync/Async,
    i´m getting this error when this BPM is trying to read  the RFC
    com.sap.engine.interfaces.messaging.api.exception.MessagingException: com.sap.aii.adapter.rfc.afcommunication.RfcAFWException: error while processing message to remote system:com.sap.aii.adapter.rfc.core.client.RfcClientException: Out of memory error occurred while processing message at RFC receiver
    please somebody can you help me

    Hi,
    No need to restart the server. In PI there is a parameter 'java Heap' indicating the size of data processed adapters. Check if it is necessary to increase the size of this parameter.

    I hope to help you

  • Reports and "out of memory"

    Hi,
    currently i am trying find a suitable workaround for the wellknown "out of memory" Errormessage during report generation.
    http://forums.ni.com/t5/NI-TestStand/TestStand-Memory-Limit/td-p/1964027
    I am trying to store the report object as a binary file. So the hole report file size will be small a possible.
    http://forums.ni.com/t5/NI-TestStand/Saving-ResultList-as-binary-file/m-p/653522/highlight/true#M182...
    In a later process the report generation should be done. The maior aim is that report generation is done without any errors.
    It is quite bad if you have some nightly or weekend  tests and next morning you will see that test running well but report was crashing,
    and you have nothing - thats is really frustrating!
    Well it seems that also Engine.SerializeObject is also limited.
    I wonder this there a way to determine the size of the object? If this is possible i would split the object.

    test.seq ‏11 KB

    Hi Doug,
    I have made a some Tests (test_tsr.seq).
    Good news: It is working better than my Engine.Serialize stuff, if loop max count is not too large.
    Bad news: If loop count is too large Sequence is crashing with exeption during MainSequence-Call. (see sreenshoots).
    Previous tests with test.seq and loopmax =50 were running at least to model's report generation.
    So the bottom line is that on-the-fly result recording has not the desired behaviour.
