XSL and namespaces

Maybe I should ask this one some XML forum, but I'm using the Java 1.6 standard XSLT engine, and maybe this is its berhavior. Anyhow, what I want is the transform the XML notation of Excel and that didn't work. I've simplified it all to get to the problem. Now, I have the following XML:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<Workbook>
<Worksheet>
  <Table>
   <Row>
    <Cell><Data Type="String">images</Data></Cell>
    <Cell><Data Type="String">articlenr</Data></Cell>
    <Cell><Data Type="String">descriptionhead</Data></Cell>
    <Cell><Data Type="String">worldwide</Data></Cell>
    <Cell><Data Type="String">sort</Data></Cell>
   </Row>
  </Table>
</Worksheet>
</Workbook>And apply the following XSLT to it:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="ISO-8859-1"?>
<xsl:stylesheet version="1.0" xmlns:xsl="http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Transform">
     <xsl:template match="/">
          <Root>
               <xsl:apply-templates/>
          </Root>
     </xsl:template>
     <xsl:template match="Row">
          <articlenr><xsl:value-of select="Cell[2]/Data"/></articlenr>
     </xsl:template>
</xsl:stylesheet>And this works fine, I get the correct output:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?><Root>
   <articlenr>articlenr</articlenr>
</Root>But the actual XML is much more complex, for one it uses namespaces. So the root tag looks like:
<Workbook xmlns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:spreadsheet"
xmlns:o="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office"
xmlns:x="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:excel"
xmlns:ss="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:spreadsheet"
xmlns:html="http://www.w3.org/TR/REC-html40">The moment I add this to the XML the XSL no longer functions. The output becomes:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?><Root>
    images
    articlenr
    descriptionhead
    worldwide
    sort
</Root>It simply does not match to the Row tag anymore and defaults to text output. It seems I can't convince XSL to match on Row when the namespaces are present.
Any suggestions?

Naturally that was the first thing that I tried and it didn't work. Turns out XSLT1.0 can't handle default namespaces, so you have to used explicit namespaces on the tags. Yes, that's true. But just because Microsoft made it the default namespace in their document, doesn't mean you have to make it the default namespace in your XSL document. You could define a prefix for it:
<xsl:stylesheet version="1.0"
  xmlns:xsl="http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Transform"
  xmlns:ms="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:spreadsheet">

  • XSL-TEXT: how to import subtemplates in XSL and use xdofx tags?

    Hi,
    I am working on a BI Publisher Report (XML Publisher 5.6.3 in EBS) to generate labels on a label printer. The output needs to be in plain text format, therefore I decided to use the XSL-TEXT template and create my own XSL translation.
    In principle this works pretty fine, but there are two things that worry me a bit:
    1. Does anybody know how I could import other XSL files, like sub-templates in RTF? The problem I have is that I don't know the URI or the sub-template. At the moment I store those other XSL files in the OA_MEDIA folder, but this is not really nice. In RFT you can refer to subtemplates with some xdofx commands... this brings me to my second question:
    2. In RTF templates you can use the Oracle specific XML tags, including the <xdofx:%> and <xdoxslt:%> tags. Does anybody know if and how I can use them in XSL templates?
    Any ideas are highly appreciated!
    regards,
    David.

    Hi Vetsrini,
    1. but what is the absolute path for my subtemplates if I store them in the Template Manager? How can I refer to them?
    This is what the manual says for RTFs:
    >
    Enter the Import Syntax in the Primary Template
    Import the subtemplate to the primary template by entering the following syntax in the
    primary template. The import syntax tells the XML Publisher engine where to find the
    subtemplate RTF in the Template Manager. This syntax may be entered anywhere in the
    template prior to the call-template syntax:
    <?import:xdo://APPCODE.TEMPLATE_CODE.lang.TERR?>
    where
    APPCODE is the Application code you assigned to the subtemplate in the Template
    Manager. For example, if you associated this template with the Receivables application,
    enter "AR".
    TEMPLATE_CODE is the template Code you assigned to the subtemplate in the Template
    Manager. For example, AR_CommonComponents.
    >
    sounds good and easy to me. But I don't have a RTF template. I have just a plain XSLT and those XML Publisher tags do not work there. So how do I get the absolute path of my XSLT templates stored in the Template Manager?
    2. I've included the namespace, no error anymore. But the syntax does not result in actions:
    <xsl:value-of select="xdoxslt:substr((PRODUCT_NAME),1,2)"/>
    {code}
    This does not substring() my string, the full string is returned. But anyway, I don't get an error message anymore. Maybe I just used the wrong XDOXSLT function... I need to search for a list of XDOXSLT functions, but that's not very urgent for now. I think I can do the most with plain XSL and inside the DB itself.

  • Parsing DOM with XSL and output as HTML

    In a servlet I am fetching data from DB into an DOM-tree (using ordinary JDBC and building the XML-DOM while fetching rows). This is done in a servlet, and before I response to the browser i use Oracle XML-parser to join my DOM-tree with an XSL-file. If I try to my DOM-tree out before parsing, it contains data. But the parsed DOM only contains XSL-tags, no data. What do I do wrong?
    Here is the code:
    DOMParser parser = new DOMParser();
    parser.setPreserveWhitespace(true);
    //No problem finding the XSL-file...
    URL xslURL = createURL("employee.xsl");
    parser.parse(xslURL);
    xslDoc = parser.getDocument();
    XSLStylesheet xsl = new XSLStylesheet(xslDoc, xslURL);
    XSLProcessor processor = new XSLProcessor();
    processor.showWarnings(true);
    processor.setErrorStream(System.out);
    //XML doc does contain data!!!
    DocumentFragment result =
    processor.processXSL(xsl, xmlDoc);
    xmlOut = new XMLDocument();
    Element root = xmlOut.createElement("root");
    xmlOut.appendChild(root);
    root.appendChild(result);
    xmlOut.print(out); // Result is only the XSL-file.....

  • XSL and Schema

    I'm using CS3 to create a series of XSL files to transform XML but when i'm in DW, in the bindings tab, when I create a fragment XSL and point it to attach to a remote source I get

    Maybe it is, but without seeing the XML source you're trying to load, it's impossible for anyone to help.
    A quick way to verify that an XML document is correctly formed is to load it into the latest version of any browser except Internet Explorer. If the XML is correctly formed, the browser will display the document tree. If not, it will display an error message.

    Hi guys,
    thanks for the input.
    Hi Sven,
    I have input default interface and namespace.
    Hi sivasakthi,
    Regarding mistype, it may happen, I will do it again right away.
    And the URL is generated by the wsdl toolkit in the directory.
    I marked use encoded header and query string in the communication channel.
    I will generate the wsdl again and test it again.

  • Using resourceDescription in SUBSCRIPTIONBUNDLED_Email.xsl and xml's.

    Hello all,
    We are trying to use the Primitive Template "resourceDescription" (as described in "Customizing Notifications"-pdf) in the SUBSCRIPTIONBUNDLED_EMAIL.xsl and SUBSCRIPTIONBUNDLED_en.xml.
    Could anyone urgently let me know if it's possible to use this Primitive Template in the xsl and xml mentioned?
    It looks like the "resourceDescription" is not being passed on to the bundlednotificationdata-section in the xml?
    Any other suggestion in how to get the "resourceDescription" available in Daily Summary Subscription emails?
    Thanks in advance,
    Tim.

    Hello Alan,
    Yes; as far as I know the only way to get your changes to any of the email notification xml files visible is by restarting the server
    The notification email xsl I'm working on is the one for the daily notifications (subscriptionbundled_email.xsl).
    My problem is that it seems that the resourceDescription is not being passed on by the java code that is populating the section in the xml file containg the resource information...
    Unfortunately no confirmation about this yet (raised OSS with SAP as well).
    I'm expecting this resourceDescription to contain the text that you can fill in using standard KM in the Description field of a resource.
    I do wonder how/where your users populate the subject and description fields? Standard SAP KM or custom app?
    Cheers,
    Tim.

    hi,
    you have to simply add one module in your communication channel
    that is XMLAnonymizerBean
    you can refer below for help:

    Interfaces (cont.)
    Perhaps the most useful feature of interfaces is that you not
    only can define the data type but also method signature of the
    class that implements this interface. In other words, interface can
    define and enforce what methods class MUST implement. This is very
    useful when classes are branching in packages and team of
    developers works on a large application among others.
    The general syntax for an Interface with method signatures is
    written the following way:
    package{
    public interface InterfaceName {
    // here we specify the methods that will heave to be
    implemented
    function method1 (var1:dataType,
    var2:datType,…):returnType;
    function method2 (var1:dataType,
    var2:datType,…):returnType;
    To the previous example:
    package{
    public interface IQualified {
    function method1 ():void;
    function method2 ():int;
    Let’s write a class that implements it.
    If I just write:
    package{
    public class ClassOne extends DisplayObject implements
    IQualified {
    public function ClassOne(){}
    I will get a compilation error that states that I did not
    implement required by the interface methods.
    Now let’s implement only one method:
    package{
    public class ClassOne extends DisplayObject implements
    IQualified {
    private function method1():void{
    return;
    public function ClassOne(){}
    I will get the error again because I implemented only one out
    of two required methods.
    Now let’s implement all of them:
    package{
    public class ClassOne extends DisplayObject implements
    IQualified {
    private function method1():void{
    return;
    private function method2():int{
    return 4;
    public function ClassOne(){}
    Now everything works OK.
    Now let’s screw with return datatypes. I attempt to
    return String instead of void in method1 in ClassOne:
    private function method1():String{
    return “blah”;
    I am getting an error again – Interface requires that
    the method1 returns void.
    Now let’s attempt to pass something into the method1:
    private function method1(obj:MovieClip):void{
    return;
    Oops! An error again. Interface specified that the function
    doesn’t accept any parameters.
    Now rewrite the interface:
    package{
    public interface IQualified {
    function method1 (obj:MovieClip):void;
    function method2 ():int;
    Now compiler stops complaining.
    But, if we revert the class back to:
    private function method1():void{
    return;
    compiler starts complaining again because we don’t pass
    any parameters into the function.
    The point is that interface is sort of a set of rules. In a
    simple language, if it is stated:
    public class ClassOne implements IQualified
    it says: “I, class ClassOne, pledge to abide by all the
    rules that IQualified has established and I will not function
    correctly if I fail to do so in any way. (IMPORTANT) I can do more,
    of course, but NOT LESS.”
    Of course the class that implements an interface can have
    more that number of methods the corresponding interface requires
    – but never less.
    MORE means that in addition to any number of functions it can
    implement as many interfaces as it is desired.
    For instance, I have three interfaces:
    package{
    public interface InterfaceOne {
    function method1 ():void;
    function method2 ():int;
    package{
    public interface InterfaceTwo {
    function method3 ():void;
    package{
    public interface InterfaceThree{
    function method4 ():void;
    If our class promises to implement all three interface it
    must have all four classes in it’s signature:
    package{
    public class ClassOne extends DisplayObject implements
    InterfaceOne, InterfaceTwi, InterfaceThree{
    private function method1():void{return;}
    private function method2():int{return 4;}
    private function method3():void{return;}
    private function method4():void{return;}
    public function ClassOne(){}
    Hope it helps.

  • Private dictionaries and Namespaces

    Private dictionaries and Namespaces
    We ran into an issue with some email templates in converting from RC2006 to RC2008.3 where Namespace values from Private service dictionaries were not populating correctly in RC2008.
    In the upgrade process from RC2006, any private dictionaries are converted to actual dictionaries. They are created in the Dictionary Group UPGD: PRIVATE DICTIONARIES and the dictionary name is based on the service name: PRIV_ServiceA.
    What I found as we were testing is that the Namespace parameters in Email templates (and, presumably, conditional statements and other places) no longer worked.
    The reason is that the Namespace Parameter for a private dictionary did not use a dictionary name, e.g. #SERVICE.DATA.Field1#. In order for the RC2008 version to work, we had to add dictionary references:  #SERVICE.DATA.PRIV_ServiceA.Field1#.

    Hey M.VAL,
    Thanks for the question. If your dictionary is not available after updating your device, you may need to redownload it:

  • The system and namespace change option

    Hi Experts,
    I want to integrate a certain SAP Source System within RSA1. After submitting the correct settings for Background User and RFC connection the process leads me to the Source System where I logon with an User which has authorizations in SM59. From there on (the RFC Connection backwards is already defined) I got asked whether I want to user/check/cancel this existing RFC Connection. I click on use, wait for a while and then the error (please see below) appears.
    When proceeding with the steps mentioned in the error message (transaction SE03, Administration node, ...) I cannot find any IDOC Object ZSSA009. I think maybe it's related to some software component or somenthing like that which should be set as "modifiable" but I don't know which....
    Any Ideas on this?
    Many thanks in advance.

    Diagnosis
    The system and namespace change option set for this SAP System does not allow any changes to be made to object IDOC ZSSA009.
    System Response
    Editing is terminated, the object can only be displayed.
    Procedure
    If you want to edit the object IDOC ZSSA009 in this SAP System, have your system administator set the SAP System to "modifiable" for this object.
    This can affect the modifiability of the namespace &1 or the namespaces that correspond to the pattern &1, as well as the global setting of the system change option.
    The system change option is set using the Transport Organizer tools (Transaction SE03). Expand the Administration node and execute the program Set system change option. The options are described there.

  • Get Message ID and namespace from ABAP Mapping

    Hi XI Expert,
    Please advise how to get the message ID and namespace from ABAP Mapping.
    Thank You and best Regards
    Fernand

    Hi,
    To access the message ID, use the method GET_MESSAGE_ID of the controller object:
           1.      Fetch a protocol instance for the protocol IF_WSPROTOCOL_MESSAGE_ID.
           2.      To have the system return the message ID after the sender has sent a request message or the receiver has received a request message, use the method GET_MESSAGE_ID of this instance. This returns the ID by using the parameter MESSAGE_ID of type SXMSGUID.
    Also you could do the same by this way also:
    IF_WSPROTOCOL_XI_HEADER
    has attributes messageid and interface namespace.
    using this  you can read the XI message header

  • Portal Event name and namespace (ECM)

    Hi Experts
    I want to register for the Portal Event that gets triggered when an employee is selected.
    In the Compensation Information page, there is an employee search iview. I need to know what Portal Event name and namespace is triggered when an employee is selected.
    Does somebody already know what the name and namespace is?
    thanks in advance
    Anton Kruse

    Found the solution here: Parameter Passing from WDJ iview to WDABAP Iview
    call function 'HR_ASR_WDA_GET_EMPLOYEE'
       exporting
          id = 'MSS01'   "ABAP Memory ID To get the PERNR Selected.

          pernr = gv_pernr.

  • XSL and a php variable

    I am looking for a solution to a problem I am having with an
    XSL stylesheet and trying to use a php variable. The page I am
    working on is a page to display some information based on the
    graduation year of a class (I work at a school). For example last
    years graduating class of 2006.
    I have a statement in the XSL sheet that limits the shown
    data to only that class year
    <xsl:for-each
    select="school[class_of=&apos;2006&apos;]">
    I would like to replace that 2006 above with a php statment
    such as $classyear since on that page the data is to display the
    variable is already present, but I cannot get it to work. I have
    tried to place php in the XSL and also to change the extention etc
    and they all produce errors. I am assuming that XSL just can't use
    variables in it?
    Any help would be greatly appreciated. I would hate to have
    to duplicate that one XSL sheet for every class year.
    thanks
    chris

    David,
    thank you so much so far for you help, it does sounds like we
    are talking about the same thing. I think I am getting close.
    I do want to pass the value when the XSL sheet is embedded.
    I tried that and it seemed to not work, says the variable is
    not found (I am using the dreamweaver built in transform).
    I am just getting into the more complex XML stuff so I
    apologize for my lack of knowledege.
    I have pasted some of the code below, any idea what I am
    doing wrong?
    the page where it is embedded is
    http://www.nmhschool.org/news/test11.php
    php doc with the embed and include
    <?php
    $mm_xsl = new MM_XSLTransform();
    $mm_xsl->setXML("test11.xml");
    $mm_xsl->setXSL("test11.xsl");
    $mm_xsl->addParameter("yearXX", "2006");
    echo $mm_xsl->Transform();
    ?>
    http://www.nmhschool.org/news/test11.xsl
    is the XSL
    <xsl:for-each
    select="Report/GroupHeader2/GroupHeader2_1[q1.CnPrAl_Class_of =
    $yearXX]">
    <table width="100%" border="1" cellspacing="1"
    cellpadding="1">
    <tr> blah blah blah........
    http://www.nmhschool.org/news/test11.xml
    is the XML data

    Shouldn't it change content immediately when it detects a theme change? IE 11 does this and it would be a really nice-to-have feature, especially when it comes to accessbility constraints...
