XSLT client processing with JSP?

hi,
Has anyone figured out how to write out xml
file using jsp but do the xslt transformation
from the client (ie. IE5).
I tried the following:
<?xml version="1.0"?>
<!DOCTYPE screener SYSTEM "http://myserver/screener.dtd">
<?xml-stylesheet type="text/xsl" href="http://myserver/screener.xsl"?>
<%@ page contentType="text/xml" %>
<jsp:useBean id="clock" scope="page" class="dates.JspCalendar" type="dates.JspCalendar" />
<screener>
<section>
<q id="q101"
value="<jsp:getProperty name="clock" property="month"/>">
<label>q101</label>
<value>text</value>
</q>
</section>
</screener>
and i got the following message:
Access is denied. Error processing resource. I know the xml page work properly when i access it statically. It would be nice to do
split the processing between the server and the client. I am wondering whether it is possible under present configuration?

Yes. You can set it in request.setAttribute and then in the actionform you can retrieve it.

  • Spawning new browser windows with jsp

    in a webapp, is there a jsp way to open a new browser window? i'd like to avoid javascript if i can....

    Definetely not. JSP is 100% server-side, it has nothing to do with the client-side (browser). You cannot do anything in the client-side with JSP.
    You will have to use either HTML or JavaScript.

  • Iterator behaving abnormally with jsp, while correctly with java

    So I have a class that generates a ListIterator for me, which I should process with jsp. However, the iterator behaves illogically.
    In both java & jsp method i.hasPrevious() returns true, in java i.previous() returns previous element, and jsp terminates with NoSuchElementException.
    I just doublechecked, the content of the iterator is in both cases exactly the same.
    I am using Weblogic 6.1.
    Any help,
    anywhere,
    jussi
    // We have a ListIterator
    ListIterator i = lService.listIterator(0);
    while( i.hasNext() && b) {
       System.out.println( ((Map)i.next()).get("name") );
       // Some other things hereprocessing here...
    } // And here we are, at the end of the iteration...
    // Then we output
    System.out.println( ((Map)i.previous()).get("name") );
    System.out.println( ((Map)i.previous()).get("name") );
    System.out.println( "More? = " + i.hasPrevious() );
    System.out.println( ((Map)i.previous()).get("name") );And the output is:
    Kytttapaus1bPyynt
    Osakkaat
    Osakas
    Osakas
    Osakkaat
    More? = true
    Kytttapaus1bPyynt
    That's cool...
    But the same with jsp:
    <%
    ListIterator i = lService.listIterator(0);
    while( i.hasNext() && b)
      %><%= ((Map)i.next()).get("name") %><%
    %> <%= ((Map)i.previous()).get("name") %><%
    %> <%= ((Map)i.previous()).get("name") %><%
    %> More? = <%= i.hasPrevious() %> <%
    %>And the output is:
    Kytttapaus1bPyynt Osakkaat Osakas Osakas Osakkaat More? = true
    Great!
    Then I add one magic line:
    <%
    %> <%= ((Map)i.previous()).get("name") %><%
    %> <%= ((Map)i.previous()).get("name") %><%
    %> More? = <%= i.hasPrevious() %> <%
    %> <%= ((Map)i.previous()).get("name") %><%
    %>Servlet failed with Exception java.util.NoSuchElementException
    and with
    %> <%= i.previous() %><%
    it is, of course the same...
    This one is giving me headache...

    Now I should say "Damn me!", cause I solved the puzzle. I just had problems understanding the jsp-notation...
    Am a bit newbie with jsp. And a bit with java.

  • JSP, XML, XSLT: applying XSL on JSP-generated XML doc

    Hello,
    I am currently trying to figure out how to do the following:
    let's consider (that's not entirely hypothetical :) ) a web application working with JSP (on apache/tomcat 3.1) and oracle BC4J Application modules.
    The JSPs call oracle webbeans to perform updates and retrieve data from an 8.1.6 database.
    Now I'm thinking of moving to a combination of JSP, XML and XSL, which (hopefully) would allow to customize the application depending on the user's browser, language etc...(that's the point isn't it?)
    It doesn't seem to be a problem to produce XML from a jsp, send it directly to the client browser, which in turn goes to look for the proper XSL file and does all the transformation stuff.
    However this only works with I.E 5 for the moment right? and most website need to support various kinds of browsers...
    The need is:
    * When a non XML-capable browser is detected, apply the proper XSL(s) on the server side before sending the result back, in html/wml/whatever...
    * For XML-capable browsers, produce raw XML, maybe apply some XSL(s), and eventually send the result to the browser which handles the rest of the XSL stuff itself.
    Therefore, I'd like to:
    - Have the jsp produce the raw xml data (maybe adding extra tags, to indicate the browser and/or the language that the jsp engine has detected).
    - Pass the output to a first XSLT engine which would take care of the language stuff
    - Feed the result into a second XSLT engine to handle browser specificities for instance...
    - Send the final output to the client browser.
    Now, there are 2 problems:
    * 1/ I have seen various engines capable of chaining XSL transforms, and it is easy to produce XML from a jsp, but I don't know how to feed a jsp's output into an XML engine. is that possible? how?
    * 2/ I'm a bit concerned about the cost of applying three (or more) process stages, does anyone have insight on the performance issues this could raise?
    bonus question ;) : is there a simpler approach?
    Thanks a lot in advance, Remi

  • SQL query with JSP and WML-parameters

    Hey,
    Could you help me?
    I'm trying to do the following. WML deck card 1 send parameter to same WML deck's card help. I try to read the parameter with JSP in card help by putting the parameter to SQL query, but it doesn't work. I can read the parameter with WML in card help. I can also print the value of the parameter with JSP if I generate WML with JSP.
    /*parameter sending from card 1 to card help*/
    out.println("<go href='#helpcard'>");
    out.println("<setvar name='valittukurssi' value='$(valittukurssi)'/>");
    /*parameter read with WML in card help */
    <p>Valitse kurssi.
    $valittukurssi</p>
    /'parameter read with JSP by generating WML with JSP*/
    out.println("<p>$valittukurssi</p>");
    /* SQL query with JSP */
    ResultSet uudettulokset = uusilause.executeQuery("select * from kurssi where lyhenne='$valittukurssi'");
    Thanks,
    Rampe

    You're problem is easy to fix. You're confusing WML variables with JSP variables. See below:
    >
    /*parameter sending from card 1 to card help*/
    out.println("<go href='#helpcard'>");
    out.println("<setvar name='valittukurssi'
    value='$(valittukurssi)'/>");
    Above you set a var that will work on the phone, not in JSP.
    /*parameter read with WML in card help */
    <p>Valitse kurssi.
    $valittukurssi</p>
    Yes the above does display the parameter, because it is a client side WML var, but you cannot use this variable in the JSP code (that's why your SWL fails).
    /'parameter read with JSP by generating WML with
    JSP*/
    out.println("<p>$valittukurssi</p>");Here's you're problem, the above line is EXACTLY the same as the one before it. When the container parses through this JSP code it translates the above line to:
    <p>$valittukurssi</p> on the WML page and the CLIENT uses it's local variable to display it.
    What you need and want is to have a variable that can be used in JSP code and output to your WML page. Here's how it's done:
    out.println("<go href='#helpcard'>");
    String some_name = "valittukurssi";
    out.println("<setvar name='"+some_name+"'
    value='$("+some_name+")'/>");
    //note that you may have to escape the ( and ) with a \
    //so we displayed the variable above into the WML page, now we can use it in the SQL query:
    /* SQL query with JSP */
    ResultSet uudettulokset =
    uusilause.executeQuery("select * from kurssi where
    lyhenne='"+some_name+"'");//the end of the command is: " ' " ) ;

    I found that since this is a JSF application, i am missing the '/faces' in the URL and because of which, it was unable to find the FacesContext.

  • Running other server-side applications with JSP

    Hi,
    I'd like to know, if is possible run with JSP (Servlet, or JavaBean) other application, which support COM. I used something like this in JavaScript:
    application=new ActiveXObject("excel.application");
    and I had all possibilities of its API. I'd like to use excel as data source for user-friendly data input.
    Thanks for all suggestions

    Hi,
    I don't realy understand your question.
    If your javascript work using activeX, this code is executed on the client side (like the excel application and the excel file).
    You can, with a JSP, generate the html page that contain the script.
    Where is the problem ?

  • Merging randomly-named XML data file on client-side with pdf designed in Livecycle 7.0 (and addition

    Okay, as a heads up I work for a financial institution and we are converting our legacy "jetforms" to pdf format. I have in my staff for the project, 2 code developers and myself- a form designer. We have currently spent 2 months in trial and error attempting to resolve this problem, please let us know anything you can have. All client-side (internal) machines are running Windows XP and Adobe Reader 7.0.7
    The software we use as a financial institution allows our users to export a customer's data file onto their machine which is then renamed to include the member's account number and first and last name for our staff to determine which data file they need more accurately. In legacy jetforms, we have developed a program that pushes the data from the customers file that they select, into the jetform that they want to open and the matching fields in the data file fill in the fields of the jetform. Clean and simple.
    Now, i have hit nothing but frustration when attempting to perform the same process with pdfs using a form designed in livecycle designer 7. First, i see no obvious command for opening a pdf and importing a data file using a command line, like pdfmerge or something of the sort in which an xml data file can be specified and a pdf can be specified. I saw something like it using an fdf format and attempted to do this but apparently reader cannot import the data into the pdf that was designed adobe livecycle 7. All i have been seeing is database connections and using javascript inside the form to populate fields based on these database connections, etc. etc. or doing a manual file>import data>etc. which we don't want to have our staff do. We do not have reader extensions enabled, simply because i cannot get an adobe representative to call me and discuss pricing nor see any estimated pricing chart around. I don't know if reader extensions are necessary for this or not but i'm becoming very very frustrated with it.
    We don't want a complex server-side data connection binding with dynamic input. No, we just want it where our developers can say "if this data file is selected, and this pdf form is selected run this command" which would be a simple pdfmerge type solution. Is this possible or do i need to stay with jetforms until our software the billion dollar financial institution uses does form building inside its own application? I don't want to fight about who is better, what version to use, etc. I just want the straight up honest truth. If you need to know the pricing that the reader extensions would have to go by, assume there will be 500 client computers that will need to use it.

    From your post it sounds like you are Central Pro (a product for which I am by no means an expert), but you say you want to upgrade to a newer product from your "legacy" one. Is there a reason for this? Have your requirements change so that it no longer fits them? Central is still in the current Adobe roster and as far as I know there is no plans to get rid of it any time soon, so if it does everything you want I don't see why you would want to change.
    There is no product in the LiveCycle suite that merges xml data into a form from the command line. LiveCycle (with the exception of Designer) is a suite of server products, so the closest you would come is LiveCycle Forms (merge the xml and create a fillable PDF) or LiveCycle Print (merge the xml and print the form).
    Hope this helps somewhat.

  • Hosting Client Sites with Business Catalyst?

         Do I have to HOST potential client sites with Business Cataylst in order for the forms widget to work? I am very excited about this tool but this is one major issue that I need clarity on that plan old experience and practice will not answer. I have already used form entry sites that give you the code, but it just isnt MUSE! I get redirected to their sites and makes the overall site look less authentic... Can someone provide a little insight please!!! I'd call in to 1800 MUSE HELP if I could. Thanks!

    Yes, the sites need to be hosted with Business Catalyst in order for the forms widget to work out of the box.
    Users have also reported success adding contact forms to their site using Adobe FormsCentral, Jotform, or Wufoo and inserting them via Object > Insert HTML.
    Read more about Muse's Contact form widgets here - http://www.adobekb.com/adding_contact_forms.html
    "If you want to create and style forms with Muse and then upload your site to a different web hosting service, the forms will display as you designed them, but they will not function. If you have experience working with code, you can use Muse to export your site and then open the files in an HTML editor. Update the source code of the form to make it compatible with the form processing technology used by your hosting provider before you upload the files to their server."

    Normal Sales Order Configuration Cycle:-
    Step 1: Sales Document Type
    IMG > Sales and Distribution > Sales > Sales Documents >
    Sales Document Header:
    1. Sales Document Type:The sales document types represent the different business transactions, such as Inquiry, Quotation, Sales Order, etc. To create new sales order type, always copy as with reference to similar sales order. If possible use standard sales order.
    2. Define Number Ranges For Sales Documents: Maintain number range with discussion with core team.
    3. Assign Sales Area To Sales Document Types:
    A. Combine sales organizations / Combine distribution channels / Combine divisions: Ensure to maintain these, else Sales Order creation will give error.
    B. Assign sales order types permitted for sales areas: Assign only required Sales Order Types to required Sales Area. This will minimize selection of Sales Order Type as per sales area.
    Sales Document Item:
    1. Define Item Categories: If possible use Standard Item Category. Incase if required to create new, copy as from standard & maintain New.
    2. Assign Item Categories: If possible, use standard. Formula for deriving item category: Sales Document Type + Item Category Group + Usage + Higher Level Item Category = Item Category

  • How to start BPEL process with publishing initiation form designed in ADF

    Hii All,
    Can Anyone please tell me how to Start my BPEL process with publishing initiation forms designed in ADF fusion.
    I am using JDevloper 11g and Oracle SOASuite 11g toolset in windows platform.
    Thankx in Advance,
    Deekay.

    Hi,
    I assume you mean the JMS example under the $OH BPEL examples area. Unfortunately, this only shows how to get a BPEL process kicked off by awaiting a JMS message - but there is no test code there! There are specific examples which show off the testing framework facilities but it appears that all the examples which use async type of interactions are in the middle of a process which is kicked off by a normal synchronous client interaction.
    Any further help much appreciated.
    Colin.
