XSTEP - parameter with Range as value

Hi,
In XSTEP, can I maintain a paramter with Range such as 4 - 5 so that 4 & 5 are validated against each other. when I create Process Instrcution or Process Message Characteristic, it is not accpeting 4 -5, instead it is taking 4 only. is it a std benavour..

Multiple select parameter with each selected value covering multiple sub values

Hello, everyone,
In my SSRS report, I need to set a multiple select parameter called Group, with values: group1 group2, etc....
When group1 is selected, it needs to apply to data of certain sub groups: sub-group1, sub-group2;
When group2 is selected, it needs to apply to data of different sub groups: sub-group3, sub-group4 and sub-group5;
when both group1 and group2 are selected, then, it needs to apply to data of sub-group1 to sub-group5.
I know how to do it when only one group is selected: simply use a case statement in the query to select the right sub groups based on the group selected.
But I don't know a good way to do it when multiple groups are selected.
Any help, pointers are much appreciated. Thanks in advance!

If I understand correctly, there are two parameters (Group and Sub_group) in the report. When we select group1 in Group parameter, it will auto select sub-group1, sub-group2 in the Sub_group parameter; when we select group2 in Group parameter, it will auto
select sub-group3, sub-group4 and sub_group5 in the Sub_group parameter; when we select both all, it will auto select all sub_group values. If I have misunderstood, please don't hesitate to let me know.
In this scenario, we can create a temporary table with Group and Sub_group columns, then select Sub_group column values based on the Group field. For more details, please see:
Create a dataset with the query below:

Comparing a range with rang of values

Hi,
Please help me to get a solution for the below, Thank you!!
I have a table which contains values like select options.
Ex: Here table fields are SIGN, OPTION, LOW and HIGH.
i need to select these table entries using the selection screen (this is parameter) input,
where user can give input exact value or '' or somthing (Ex. IN*) or *somthing (Ex. *03).
Or after selecting the entries from the table into internal table, i need to filter the internal table entries with selection screen input.
Here when user inputs with pattren (Ex. IN* or *03) and the table entry is
SIGN   OPTION      LOW                HIGH
I      BT             IN01                 KR01
here if user inputs *03, the above table entriy should come in the output.
as IN03 or JP03 etc...comes under above range.
Can any one suggest any solution for this?
This is quite urgent issue, pleae help me in this regard.

I have done similar requirement in dialog program and i used find button to get exact field in top line cursor.
Create one internal table where you are finding the data from database table.
See the logic in form routine : FORM find_field USING    command.

Query String parameter with # in its value

Hi,
When I send a parameter in a query string with value that has the hash symbol (i.e #) that parameter when fetched returns null. Why so?
Eg :

Its a special character and the url has to be 'rewritten properly.

Adding a parameter with comma separated having different values

i want to add a parameter with comma separated having different values of a column. e.g i have column having values from 10000 to 99999. i want to create report for the selected values of 11111,12111,131111 etc. This selection can be one or more values as desired. Second problem is restricting the records as per parameter.

Reports doesn't allow multi-selection of a parameter in its parameter form. You need to use Oracle*Forms or an HTML Form to front end more advanced parameter form options.
However, you could have multiple parameters and combine their selections into a single parameter in the after parameter form trigger. This would at least allow you to give the user the option for selecting up to 'n' parameters. The single parameter would have to be of type "character" and you probably want to add appropriate quotes around the values in the after parameter form trigger.
Second problem is restricting the records as per parameter. Once you've got the comma seperated values into a single parameter (say p_myValues with a default value of '') then you can just use a lexical parameter to restrict the values as in:

Edit -> Databank Wizard -> Add Variable; then select Internal - Specify Expression as the type then you can enter Date() in the expression text field, to call the system date or Time() to call the system time.
Unfortunately since the removal of VBA that is all OFT can do
In OpenScript however you can use Java code view to substitute the parameter value with any Java expression, or for the date you can change the parameter value for *{{@today(MM/dd/yyyy)}}* which will return the date with the format MM/dd/yyyy, calling *{{@today(dd/mm/yyyy)}}* would return the current date with the format dd/mm/yyyy etc ...
There is a list of pre-build functions on the help files, and if you need something that is not there and have not Java skills you can post the specific question here and I'm sure someone will post the code.

Create table with range

I want create a table with range value like TVARV table. With fields : Company Code, Low Value and High Value. And I want, always like TVARV table, in Maintain table (SM30) to can select value in Parameter or Select Options.
How do this?

My table must contain ranges Cost Center Group link to Company Code. I don't create a simple table with only 1 CC Group for 1 Company Code, I must to use range or Select Option like TVARV table.

Netui:repeater tags with ranges (aka prev/next)

Is there some way to implement ranges using the <netui:data-repeater> tags? By
ranges, I mean where you have 123 items in a list and you only display numbers
1-50. Clicking NEXT would give you items 51-100. When you're there, clicking PREV
would take you back to 1-50.
Sample code would be nice. I think it could be done with the <netui:data-choiceMethod>
tags, but what I am envisioning would be pretty ugly

I am still stuck. I have the pager working fine. But, I have a checkbox that needs
to be bound with the recordid. When the form is submitted after selecting records
on multilple pages, I want to retrieve the recordids of records that were checked.
How do I do that? A chckbox datasource can only be a one-value String property
of a form. But, I need to save an array of ids that were checked. I am so lost.

release of Workshop, but I don't believe that it will appear inan

service pack.
Additionally in 8.1, we are not exposing a NetUI tag SDK.
That being said, it isn't that difficult ot build a pager from
scratch with the <netu:anchor> / <netui:parameter> tags and a little
code in a JPF.
You'd want to have "prev" and "next" actions in the JPF to which
anchors in the JSP are bound. Then, you can keep track of the "current"
page in the URL and build the previous and next page indices fromthe
value that is availble in the request. Finally, create an intermediate
data structure that contains the data to display in the "current"page
and bind the repeater to this data structure. You'd build the contents
depending on whether the prev or next links were clicked. For example,
if your data set has 100 items in it and you only want to displayitems
20-29, you'd be on page 2 (depending on whether you start countingat
0 :) and the intermediate list would contain exactly these items.
Might sound complicated, but I think this would work out prettywell.

Unable to bind portlet parameter with page parameter in webcenter portal

Hi All,
I am trying to bind portlet parameter with the page parameter so that I can ahieve some business requirements.
Here is what I did,
In my Portlet producer application:
1) Created standards based portlet (jsr 286) with view.jspx and edit.jspx with rest of the things being default.
2) In my portlet.xml created two parameters and assigned these parameters to the portlet created above.
3) In the view.jspx added couple of output label adf components in the page.
4) deployed this to integrated weblogic server.
In my WC portal application:
Created a new page and added the portlet to this page( WSRP connection already exists).
deployed portal application on integrated server.
In the edit mode of the page I added one page parameter(Param1) and some default (constant) value added.
What I want is this:
when Param1 value is One display first output label and
when Param1 value is Two display second output label.
I am using jdev 11.1.1.5.0 with integrated weblogic server.

There is no need to use page parameters for this.
You also have two types of parameters depending on what you want...
1) Preferences: these parameters can be used on a user based level. This means that users can personalize the portlets. When a user change the value of a preference, it is only applied for that specific user
2) Public parameters: these parameters are used to customize the portlet. The value you set in these parameter apply for all users.

The portlet has 4 inputText on it. The first two can be set by specifying One or Two into the preference.
The other 2 inputText uses the value of the public parameter.
You should only deploy the portlet and consume it in a webcenter application. In the webcenter application, you don't need to do anything special. All is done in the portlet.
I am guessing you don't have written the code that will get the value of the parameter:
in case of a preference you will get the value by following code:

SSRS Report with mutli select values in parameters

Hi All,
I am creating a SSRS report and displaying the result in tablix. I want to make the report to filter by multi select values from the parameters.
I have 3 parameters. For all the three parameters, I have set "Default Values" and "Available Values". Also, modified my result dataset to get the values from parameters using "WHERE ID = @Parameter1" (example) and so
on..
3 Parameters types: 1. Yes or No
2. Date 3. Values with NULL in the DB
Problems:
1. When I am passing the default values "Yes" "No" - it is throwing errors because default values is passed as Yes "AND" No instead of "OR" condition. The value stored in the DB wil have either Yes or No but not both.
2. When I am querying the date values, it is a DateTime field in the DB. But I have queried like SELECT CONVERT(DATE, EXE_DATE) AS DATE FROM table which is giving only date in SQL but in SSRS displaying date with time.
3. When I pull the list of values for third Parameter from SQL, it has some NULL values. When I try to use it in SSRS, it is not displaying the NULL value as select option in the list of values
Any suggestions for the above three problems for SSRS with multi select values as filter will be helpful.

Regarding the three things:
1.) I believe your first parameter is mutliselect , please convert it to single select.
Steps:
a.) Select the parameter, right click and go to parameter properties
b.) Under General Tab in DataType section remove the checkbox for Allow Multiple Value.
2.) Instead of returning as the date please return string. For example :
SELECT CONVERT(VARCHAR, GETDATE(),101)

3.) As such there is no concept of null in SSRS. (Its a relational concept) . We do have nothing , which means empty. In Order to use null please select the Allow null option in the DataType section of the Parameter, This will add an checkbox for null in
the report preview. Its developer job to handle the null values in there query.

How do I select a range of values in MySQL using a drop down menu

Hi,
I have a database of picture frames that have a value of
frame width. I want to be able to select a range of values (i.e.
.50" to 1") instead of each and every value (i.e. .50", .56", .76",
etc.). I have a drop down menu (mnuWidth) with 5 ranges (see
attached code).
Each selection has a value from 1 to 5 indicating the range I
want to search. In my results page I have let DW set up a recordset
(see attached code)
Can anyone tell me how to get this to choose a range instead
of just the value entered by my menu?

I have been growing fond of lookup tables. Your lookup table would have your numbers in one column and the values you want returned in the next.

Caution: Lookup will return the closest value so it it looks for "10" in this example it will return "i"
If you don't want to see the error messages from blank inputs, wrap Lookup in IFERROR.

There is a scenario that thousands of values in the drop-down of a parameter. Scrolling through the large drop down list is slow and cumbersome. Is there a way that we add a search feature in the report, so that it can filter down the values in the drop
down list to a smaller list of values?
Solution
To achieve this requirement, we can add a parameter with multiple keywords ahead, then all of available values which are begin with the keyword will display in the parameter list. In this scenario, we can create cascading parameters. One is a keyword parameter,
and the other parameter is based on the keyword to display the available values.
In order to enable the user to type multiple keywords, we can use the query below to create a split function which takes the list and the de-limiter as input parameters and splits all the values in the database:

Hmmm. This didn't work. I even re-booted, and Firefox still doesn't show the search engine.
It was actually an update to an earlier engine, and I foolishly removed the old version rather than just updating it.
Is there anything elsewhere (eg. the registry) that might be preventing this?

OpenDoc(hyperlink) in webi with prompt's value

I want to know that if a hyperlink(Open DOC) in webi in BOXIR2 works with the parameters or not.
To be more precise, suppose I have a master report which has a prompt on the Status ('High','Low',and 'Medium') and user runs the report for one or more choices, he then need to go to detail of the report with same prompt selection values that he chose for status in the master report.
A) The report can show the detail report in hyperlink, and that part can be done by hyperlink.
B) Please help me out if the detail report should run for the same parameter value as of master report (the parameter value should be taken automatically from the master report),when we use hyperlink and is it mandatory to show the prompt to user in detail report cause main aim is to just run the master report with showing the parameter and allowing user to choose the value and then showing the detail report with same prompt value as of master using the hyperlink!

i came to know from your reply you solved your problem. congrats, but my problem is still not solved bro, i will explain my problem here clearly.
i have one master document it contains the the sales values for country wise for particular period of time.so in the master document i set the one filter for period of time ie. date between <from> <to>, so in the master document while running i need to enter the values in user prompt in the place of from and to. so my master document display the country wise sales details. if customer select the particular country in the country list then control need to transfer to child document, that document contains the state wise sales details for selected country for the same period of time(the date, which i selected in the master document).I stored from and to values in two variables in master document.
The child document contain two filters , that is one for country name and one for Date between <from><to>
so my user response is looking like this,

for me up to open the user prompt for child document is not a pblm. bt my selected country is not passed as argument and the corresponding date as well.
I m totally confused where is the problem, bcoz i tried with lsS and lsM as well, bt no use. i know i am making small mistake some where in the URL.

Field in the selection screen as a select option with two default values

Hi All,
can anybody tell me how to put field in the selection screen with two defaul values.
for ex: selection screen the Account Group KNA1-KTOKD as a select option. The defeault value should be Y001 and Y005.

Since Select options are nothing but ranges, you can use the following code to add two distinct values to the select options by default.
s_ktokd-sign = 'I'.
s_ktokd-option = 'EQ'.
s_ktokd-low = 'Y001'.
append s_ktokd.
s_ktokd-low = 'Y005'.
append s_ktokd.
clear s_ktokd.
However, if you want to mention a range like all the values between these given two values to be considered then u may use,
select-options : s_ktokd for KNA1-KTOKD default 'Y001' to 'Y005'.
or
s_ktokd-sign = 'I'.
s_ktokd-option = 'BT'.
s_ktokd-low = 'Y001'.
s_ktokd-high = 'Y005'.
append s_ktokd.
