XY chart display(multiple plots) --help required

Hi All,
I have problem in showing data(scale on y-axis)..on the xy-chart display...
Chart contains 2 plots...
1.length vs 1st Speed
2.length vs 2nd Speed..
my problem is with the scale on y-axis and plotting 1st speed and 2nd speed(on y-axis..) with respect to length(on x-axis)....
I attached my front panel window diagram for ur kind help....
I can able to view the plot on the chart....but the plot's are not like plots...they are plotting like in straight lines
One more Doubt ....in some chart if we right click it ..we can able to view the chart history length....
but in some chart ...why it's not appearing when we right click it ..
In that cases how we can set chart history size length...or how to enable the option.....

Dear friend,
First i misunderstood the concept...now i am clear with the graph and chart concept..Since i am new user to Labview....
I need the xy-graph behaving like chart..with history length..(data acquistion type by serial)..
Now i am completed the task...with the examples comes from NI example finder..but i need clarification.....
I attached my vi...could u please see through it....
if u see the attached front panel diagram named front-panel.png file...in that the xy-chart is showing a straight line...
This is where i am facing problem...It should be continous instead of straight line....
Latter i find that this problem is because of history length problem of xy-graph.
so i added buffer.vi..(sub-vi) available in variable-time xy-chart example to overcome this issue..
Please say ur suggestion...

How do I update a waveform chart with multiple plots one point at a time?

Hi,
I am updating multiple plots one point at a time. That is, every time I update the chart I have a value for one of the plots. If I put in a cluster with NaN for each of the charts except the one with the data I can only get individual points on the chart. I would rather have them connected.
Any clues? The only thing I can think of is to delay the update and do interpolation between samples - too complicated for me.

Are the points within a given plot equally spaced in time? If so, perhaps you need to maintain your own history of the data and used a waveform graph rewriting the history data to the graph each time. If the points are unequally spaced, then you will need to do it as an XY graph.

Constraining the algorithm for assignment of multiple plot colors

I would like to know if there is some way to modify the algorithm that
LabVIEW uses to automatically assign different colors when a graph
displays multiple plots. In particular, given the default background
color (black), it appears that black is never used for a plot color.
However, if I programmatically change the background color to white,
for example, I would like the plot color assignment to not use white. I
would also like to know if it is possible to constrain the plot color
assignment to a single color a priori, without having to go back and
explicitly assign the colors of each plot via the property node in a
loop.

I think you will have to create your own plot color assignment function to do this.
You can set the color of each plot by using the active plot property (index of the plot you want to change) and then set the plot color property (just expand one and the same property ndoe to set both at the same time).
You can then make that function check the background color and choose a color table that fits. If this is in a built application you would run this function when a color change is detected, if it's in the development environment you need this feature make the function ask for a VI and plot name (so that it can get a reference to the plot) and put it in your projects folder. That way whenever you need to set the plot colors differently you just select this function from the Tools menu of LabVIEW. An easier alternative though would be to just create the different graphs you need (with the colors for all plots already defined correctly for that background etc.) and save them as custom indicators...

M using cross tab to display data and chart to plot line. Following fields I used in Cross tab Expert & Chart expert
Cross tab expert-
Rows u2013 category
Columns u2013 year
Summarized fields u2013 Min of table_value
In Chart Expert u2013
On Change of - Year
Show values - graph values
In cross tab m able to see the data properly but not in graph.I have three categories. Hence it should plot three lines in line chart but m able to see only one line for test category.
FYI u2013 using VS 2008 and crystal report assembly version 10.5

What is the context you're asking these questions in? Are these interview questions? Homework questions? Or is there some underlying business problem you're trying to solve?

Display multiple waveforms on chart

I need help. I try to display multiple waveforms on a single chart. Two waveforms (Ideal PWM and Target Pressure) are made up of a single point instead of waveform or array; thus I have to build them into array. The problem is that I can display all the waveforms, but once awhile the chart shows a missing point on the waveform. I have attach a screen shot of my diagram. I'm using LV 8.6. Can anyone help? Thank you very much.

I would suggest creating an array based on the size of the other waveforms that are being graphed. Presumably you have a certain number of points for all the other waveforms, and they all have the same number of points for that iteration. Thus, create a Y array for the 2 values that you want to graph to be of the same size, rather than a single point. If you run the attached VI in highlight mode you can see what I mean.

Need help in displaying multiple attachments in a OAF Page

Hi,
I need to display attachemts of requisition line in a OAF Page(Notification Detials Page)and the attachments can be more than one.My custom VO returns it as a single string like url1, url2.. etc.
I need to show them as seperate links.
I tried using the Item Style as LINK.But it is not working.It is prefixing the server url before the View Attribute and creating a single link.
Any help in this regard will be appreciated.Thanks in advance.

Hi skeerthi,
If you are using the core attachments table (FND_ATTACHED_DOCUMENTS and the like), you can have a look on the Developer's Guide on chapter 4: Implementing Specific UI Features, section "Attachments", there is a seeded region available for displaying multiple attachments.
If you are not, then i'd recommend refactoring :D... Just kidding, it would be nice to use the core feature, but if the table is custom, and the links are stored separated by commas, you will have to write controller code to implement that. That can be done by:
1) Creating an Application module method that uses StringTokenizer to tokenize the attribute String (use getViewObject().getCurrentRow().getAttribute() to get the comma-separated value) and return that to the controller
2) In the controller, receive the StringTokenizer and for each token, use the api createWebBean() to create an OALinkBean and add it to a layout region using addIndexedChild() api.
This way you will dinamically create a Link for each attachment. If your layout region is, for example, tableLayout, you can create a rowLayout for each token, then create a Link, add the link to the row layout and finally add it to the tableLayout. By doing so, you will create a table-style attachment region.

Is there a way to display multiple values into a chart report. Normally there is a combobox and you can only select one value. But i want to display multiple values into one chart and i have to use interactive report because sql report is not enough for me.

I am trying to create a line chart with multiple series for trend analysis on CR XI but not having much luck, I thought it would be so simple to do!
My data is provided summarized on the server and is returned as 12 rows:
Month Year1 Year2 Year3 Year4 Year5January 100 80 75 90 120February 85 25 40 25 80etc for the rest of the months
My problem is that I can only get the chart to accept the values to display as a summary and not just as the data pulled back from the server. I have read an article on the support site for Crystal 6.0 but it doesn't seem to translate well into XI.
If necessary I could redesign the table to bring back un-summarized data but that is quite a big job.
Any help greatly appreciated.

In the chart expert, put Month in the 'On change of' box and put each year in the 'Show values' box. This puts the month on the x-axis and plots each year as a line.
Is that what you want?
I did this in CR 2008 using your data in an Excel sheet.

How to display multiple lines in a text box defined in steploop.

I have a requirement to display data ( which is dynamic in nature. I determine data type,length etc dynamically) in a table format. I am using step loop for the same. I am facing a problem. Some field can be as long as 256 char long. Is there any way to display multiple lines in text box defined in a step loop so that I can display the complete string as one entity.
I can't use custom control as custom control can't be defined in a step loop or table controlI would really appreciate your help on this.

Perhaps it is possible to use a <b>mixed strategy</b> consisting of a classical table control (or, even better, an ALV grid list) where you display the first 250 character of the data and next to the table control you place a simple textedit control. When the user selects one of the text fragments in the table control the entire text will be displayed in the textedit control.

Multiple plots (different colours) on a single histogram?

I have a 2D array of data, and I would like to plot a histogram.
each row(with 8 elements) would be plotted in pairs, in 2 different colours.
My chart would have to look something like the attached image.
My vi is also attached. Right now it displays the plot (one row for now),but I have a few problems:
1) How to change the colour of each bar (to be like the excel graph)
2) how to change the bar plot label ( so instead numeric values 1,2,3,...I would like to have a,b,c,... under each bar)
3)and how to remove the (0,0) point on the graph, so you could see the first bar entirelyy, instead of partially.
I tried bundling the data , dynamic data, and a a bunch of other things but couldnt get it to work.

You can create a histogram of each row by connecting the output of the General Histogram or Histogram VI's (in the Statistics Palette) to a Build Array. Connect the output of Build Array to a Histogram Graph. You can create a Histogram Graph by right clicking on the General Histogram or Histogram VI's Histogram Graph output terminal( Create>>Indicator). That should show you both histograms with different colors in one graph(they may be overlapping though, use the Bar Plots options to see what view is best). Unfortunately, I don't see how you could display it like the graph you posted, but you may create a button that controls a Histogram Graph by using Property Nodes. Right click on the Histogram Graph indicator in the Block Diagram(Create>>Property Node>>Plot>>Visible). If you connect a Boolean control to this property node and place that piece of code inside a while loop, you could turn your plots on and off. You can also create an Invoke Node(Right Click>>Create>>Invoke Node>>Export data to Excel) to Export data to Excel. Make sure you expand the Plot Legend on the upper right corner so you can see the second plot options.

Load and Display Multiple Images in a Web Dynpro Table

I am new to Web Dynpro and I am wondering if anyone can help me with an application that I am currently developing. I have a particular requirement to store images in a database table (not MIME repository) and then display them in a WD table element. An image can be of JPEG, PNG or TIFF format and is associated with an employee record.
I want to create a view in my application that displays multiple images in a table, one image per row. I want to do this using Web Dynpro for ABAP, not Java. I have looked into pretty much all examples available for Web Dynpro and came to the conclusion that Components such as WDR_TEST_EVENTS and WDR_TEST_UI_ELEMENTS do not have any examples of images being stored in a database table and viewed in/from a Web Dynpro table element. Programs such as RSDEMO_PICTURE_CONTROL, DEMO_PICTURE_CONTROL and SAP_PICTURE_DEMO do not show this either.
The images to be displayed in the Dynpro table are to come from a z-type table, stored in a column of data type XSTRING (RAW STRING). So I would also like to know how to upload these images into this z-type table using ABAP code (not Java).
Your help would be greatly appreciated.

How to display multiple lines of texts in a single rows in ALV

Hi,
I have a unique requirement in which i have to display multiple lines if texts for a single rows in ALV Grid. Right now in my output it is coming in single line which is not visible fully because that text is more than 255 character. So i want to display the test by splitting into multiple lines and show it on output. Please suggest some solution for this if this is possible in ALV.

Its not possible to display multiple line in one row of an alv, but i think you can acheive it by splitting the whole text into multiple sub-text.
For example, if your requirement is as below:
Field #1          Field #2
1                    xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx(200 characters)
2                    yyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy(220 character)
then you can break Field#2 value into say 50 character and then populate the internal table with repetative entries of Field#1 and the finally sort it by Field#1 value... as a result of which you output will be somewhat as below:

1                   xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

How to display scope plot in Labview GUI?

I am trying to figure out how to show TDS8000 scope output plot in LV GUI(?)
This maybe a two fold question.
1. I suppose it may be necessary to adjust the scope scale with appropriate level so that the plot will show enough details of information. (e.g., finding Max and Min points)
2. how to display scope plot in LV GUI?
It would be a great help if anyone can share an example VI.

Hi jjlee,
It shouldn't be that difficult of a task. Most instrument drivers have
a simple initialize VI, and then some type of waveform measurement VI.
You would connect these two VIs and then take the output from the
waveform measurement (may be waveform acquire or something like that)
to a graph or chart (depending on if you're outside of inside of a
loop). That should be all you need to do for the simplest form of this
application. You would, of course, want to handle errors and close the
connection to the device when you're done collecting the data.
