XY Graph FillTo property

I am using the Vertical Strip Chart example posted August 19 2010  by Pcorcs and would like to fill from either edge of the strip chart. Unfortunately, the FillTo property fills in the vertical direction, and I would like to fill in the horizontal direction.
I expect that there are sub VIs within the XY Graph VI that manage all these properties. Is there any way that we can get at these?

This is a pretty mucky way of doing it, but converting to a picture and rotating seems to work. It needs a little additional messing around with axes etc but gives something close to the desired result.
With a little help from here and here I cobbled up the attached vi. Visually it isn't too far off but you do lose the ability to zoom in and pan around etc, it should be possible to workaround this but it would require more coding.
Hope this helps!

  • Class conflict when programmatically editing graphs with property node

    I am trying to programmatically move the cursors on a graph. I want the cursor to look the same on 2 different graphs so I made a subVI. The code works correctly when I have seperate property nodes, but when I try to use the subVI, I get a class conflict -
    "You have connected a refnum of one type to a refnum of another type and both types are members of some class hierarchy, but there is neither a simple up cast nor type cast between the two classes."
    I am not sure how to fix this. The graph that works is of a waveform, and the graph that doesn't is the output of the FFT Power Spectrum VI. Is the problem that the inputs are different? Or is there some kind of resource conflict when using property nodes in subVIs?

    A shot in the dark here.  But maybe if you make the subVI's input reference of type GraphChart it would work.

  • Graph cursor property

    My waveform graph has two graphs overlaying each other.  The graph has two mult-plot cursors.  Each cursor is watching a different plot. I tried to use the property node to move the cursor, and it seems like the cursors will go there for a split second and go back.  Why is that?  How do fix that?
    Also, on the cursor lengend, all I care about is the x values from each cursor.  Is there a way to format the legend as following?
    cursor 0x1
    cursor 1x2
    See attached VI.

    You need to use "Map XY to coordinates" to transform the coordinates. Here is a quick rewrite. See if it suits your needs.

  • Graph and property node

    Hello all;
    I want to make my .vi more powerful, so what I wanted to do is next:
    1. my input must be: "boolean system check box" in 1D array(this is must have, I need this as input into call library function node)
    2. all those checkbox(12) are connected to graph(in this example I choose 12 graphs and one input signal which is same, in real I have different signals, scales...)
    What I wanted to do is when I check first check box, first graph  will be appears(and on graph will be shown his name, which is same as at check box). And then for example if I choose 3,5,8 check box will be appears 3,5,8 graph which will follow one after the other and so one;
    I started to make 1D array check box, but after I group all together and try to rename for example check box 1 to channel 1, it's changing all names not just those which I renamed. I know that I can use "property node" and choose "visible" and "value", but I don't know how to implement together and also moving graphs one after other if I choose for example 1,5,8 channel.
    I attach testing file and picture;
    thanks

    Ok, I figure out, how to implement cluster->array; also add "visible" property; but I still don't know how to create "auto position", if I'd like just show for example 1,3,5 graph(all 3 must be inside TAB, also there can't be any free space from graph 2,4 in this case...). Please look my files (v.8.5, i can save to any other version up to 2011);

  • Align graphs using property nodes

    Hi,
    I am displaying data from 8 channels each on a seperate chart. I am using plot area and position property nodes to fix the size of each of these charts.
    I need auto-scaling but because of this, the charts are not aligned properly.
    Is there a way to fix the plot area and boundaries such that all the charts are aligned properly ?
    Shiv

    In LV6.1: Try to disable the chart property "Auto Adjust Scales" (located
    in front panel menu).
    In LV6.0.x: There is no possibility turn it off. :-(

  • Possible to display "moving crosshairs" instead of curves on a xy-graph?

    Hello,
    I want to plot a Graph in LabVIEW showing not a curve but crosshairs or another type of cursor, moving according to positioning data out of a txt-file.
    the txt-file contains x and y coordinates in this form:
    10.0    23.4
    10.5    24.5
    11.0    25.6 ...
    I want to read one pair of coordinates and move the cursor to that point, then the next pair, move the cursor to the point etc. It schould look like the cursor was moving in realtime on the graph. Now to my main problem: It seems that a xy graph collects all of the points in the file and then displays them. This looks entirely different than the described scenario. I guess it's because LabVIEW has this data-oriented concept, where a node "fires" only when it's got all input parameter needed. And since a xy graph expects a cluster as  input parameter I've got this problem.
    Attached is  the vi I made and the txt-file...
    Thank you for your help!

    Hi Gouvi,
    for size: just make the graph indicator as big as you need it...
    For background pictures: several possibilities:
    1) make the graph transparent and put some graphics behind the graph
    2) make the graph transparent and put a picture indicator behind the graph
    3) In LV8+ you can put graphics in graphs using property nodes (PlotImages)

  • Pass entire list of XY graph properties from Main vi to Subvi XY Graph

    Hello Everyone,
    I have an XY graph in my main vi that allows users to review data.  They have control over how they want to display the data on this graph(scale,color,line style, etc).  I have a subvi that excepts and array of XY graph plots (multi-plot) and prints the graph as the user has set it up.  As of right now I am passing only certain properties from the main XY graph to the subvi XY graph using property nodes.  Using this method only the important items are being passed (scale, flipped, xy scale name label) mainly because I have been to lazy to sit down and make a cluster containing all the property values.  I have to beleive that there is a way for me to pass a reference from the main XY graph to the subvi XY graph that will set all the properties in the Subvi graph to the same settings that the Main XY graph has.
    Thank you in advance,
    Steve

    Passing a reference to the subvi seems to be half of the solution that I am looking for.  This allows me full access to all propertys of the main graph.  The problem is that once I am inside the subvi I still have to select what properties I want to pass to the subvi graph. (see attached image).  My goal is to pass the reference to the subvi and then have every property of the main graph be assinged to every property of the subvi graph.  This way no matter what the user changes on the main graph (line style, width, color, scales, precision, etc) the subvi graph will reflect this.  With the method displayed in the image I have to manually select the properties that I think will most likely be edited.  And if I miss one the user will not get an exact match of the main graph.  I am hoping there is a way to do this, if not then I will just have to sit down and pass all the property values from the reference to the subvi graph but this seems like the hard way of doing it.

  • Moving xy graph cursor with mouse and programmably controlling snap to point

    Hi,
    I have run into a bit of a problem. I am trying to create a program which allows a user to select a location on an XY graph by simply clicking in the vacinity of the plot. Most of it is working, however I find that I can't programmably control the snap to point function reliably.
    I hope this is a clear outline of the problem:
    - The cursor starts in a Free state, so that when the
    user clicks in the plot area, I can set the cursor
    position to the nearest point by setting the
    CursorPosition using the graph's property node.
    - Maybe the user didn't like the chosen location and
    wants to drag the cursor over a bit. Ok, user drags
    the cursor to a new position.
    - Now th
    e cursor position is probably not exactly on
    the plot trace. If, at this point, I set the cursor
    to Snap To Point, the cursor does not snap to the
    nearest point on the graph (relative to its current
    position), but instead to the last place a _mouse_
    action placed it.
    - Immediately after the new location has been set,
    the cursor state has to be reset to free in case I
    need to programmably move the cursor again (I
    can't seem to programmably control the mouse in
    any state but Free)
    How do I go about getting the cursor to snap to the closest point at it's new location? I'm at a loss.
    Any insight you might have would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks much!
    Tere

    So what is the question about... I have to use XY graph in my program. It is used in Loop while cycle. It shows the statistic of a variable. I am using cursors in this graph to check the actual value of a variable in different period of time. But there are 7 variables and it is extremely hard for user to check each value independently. So I tried to make them moving on the X axis (TIME) together using the property node (cursors reading the position (only X axis, Y axis status lock to plot) of the major cursor and follow it... Everything looks great? But it did not work when I am trying to move the major cursor manually on graph... It works only when I am using the cursor movement buttons... But they work very slowly when there is a lot of data in graph.
    I want to find out is it possible to make seven coursers mouthing together By the X axe and be Locked each at its plot by Y axe manually (Using mouse moving on a graph). Is it possible? If it is than how to do it?

  • Oracle reports - Line graph

    Hello,
    I have a few issues with the line graphs (using oracle 10g dev suite R1 - 9.0.4).
    1. Unable to make my y axis - a dotted line.
    2. Since I couldn't make the y axis a dotted line, I made it a thin line. This thin line looks fine when I run it from the oracle reports builder. but when I genenerate to a PDF file, this thin line becomes thicker.
    3. Thirdly, I want to place a dot or something wherever the value changes in the line graph. One option is to add the MarkerText visible="true" to the Graph settings xml file. but this puts the marker text to all the y axes.
    I want it only for 1 y axis.
    Cheers

    Assuming you mean "series" and not "axis", you can control the style, width, and markers using the lineStyle, lineWidth, and markerShape attributes of the <Series> element (in the XML shown in the Graph Settings property) for the series (set of Y values) of interest.
    For example, to use a thin, dotted line with circle markers on the first series, but leave the other series with their defaults, you might:
    1. Make sure the markerDisplayed attribute of the <Graph> element is set to ="true". Otherwise, no markers will be displayed.
    2. For the <Series> element with the id attribute equal to "0" (which identifies the first series), set the lineStyle attribute to "LS_DOTTED", the lineWidth attribute to "1" (in pixels), and the makerShape attribute to "MS_CIRCLE".
    3. If needed, set the markerShape attribute of the other <Series> elements to "MS_NONE".
    The Graph Settings property might look something like this:
    <rw:graph id="CT_1" src="G_YOUR_GROUP" groups="X" dataValues="Y1,Y2">
    <!--
    <?xml version="1.0" ?>
    <Graph version="3.2.0.22" graphType="LINE_VERT_ABS" markerDisplayed="true">
    <SeriesItems>
    <Series id="0" lineStyle="LS_DOTTED" lineWidth="1" markerShape="MS_CIRCLE"/>
    <Series id="1" markerShape="MS_NONE"/>
    </SeriesItems>
    </Graph>
    -->
    </rw:graph>For more information, see the "Graph.dtd" file in your "%ORACLE_HOME%\jlib\bigraphbean.jar".
    Hope this helps.

  • Is there a Property Node for Transition Location?

    Is it possible to change the Transition Location of a plot in a Digital Waveform Graph by property nodes?
    I'm looking for that item on property nodes but I don't find it.

  • How to set the 4th Y axis color for a line graph

    Hello experts,
    I have developed a multiple y axis line graph using oracle reports 10g.
    It has got 1 x axis and 4 axes. I am able to set the color of the the first three y axes
    but the reports designer automatically assigns yellow color to the 4th axis.
    I mean there is no option in the graph wizard for changing the 4th color)
    How to change the color of this 4th y axis to a desired color?
    Cheers
    Sri

    Assuming you mean that your graph has 4 series, not 4 Y axes, you might try something like this:
    1. Save a backup copy of your current report in case the changes you are about to make don't work out and you want to revert to the backup copy.
    2. Using the Property Inspector, display the current value of the Graph Settings property for your graph. The value of the property should be something like:
    <rw:graph id...
    </rw:graph>3. Look for a <SeriesItems> tag and a matching </SeriesItems> tag in the property value. If you don't find them, add the following two lines immediately before the </Graph> tag.
    <SeriesItems>
    </SeriesItems>4. Between the <SeriesItems> tag and the matching </SeriesItems> tag, add (or update) a <Series> tag for each series that you want to specify the color for. For example, to specify the color of the fourth series as red, you would use a <Series> tag like this:
    <Series id="3" color="#ff0000"/>Note that the id numbers start at 0 for the first series, 1 for the second, and so on. The color value is a hexadecimal number specifying the RGB value of the color.
    You can also use the <Series> tag to specify other features like the marker shape.
    For more information on what you can do using the Graph Settings property, see this FAQ and Technical Note.
    Hope this helps.

  • Calling graph from Reports created in graphics builder?

    Can you call a graph from Reports 6.0 that was created in Graphics Builder. I know you can call a graph from Forms. I tried creating my graph right in Reports with the wizard but for some reason it does not give me the fields I want to use in the available fields column, so I created the graph in Graphics Builder. Do you use a trigger of some sort. Any examples would be appreciated if this is possible. Thanks

    Justin Beno:
    Yes, you can call a graph from inside a report. All you need to do is select the button with the graph on it (not the icon with the wand, which indicates chart wizard). Then draw graph in the area of the report where you want the graph to display. After completing this, right click on graph, select Property Palette, Chart - Chart Filename (this is where you will type in the directory and filename of your graph that you created in Oracle Graphics).

  • Calculate from graph cursor data

    I need to calculate from cursor data in a grpah that has been read from a file and displayed. Specifically, I want to position locked-on-trace cursors and calculate the delta-time or delta-voltage from their positions like one would with a standard scope. Attached is a file of the trace to read, 2 channels, Cursors would be on either ch-1 or 2. Simple read VI attached.

    Here's a very simple example. You just have to use the graph's property node to get the cursor position. If you know the sample rate, you can fine tune it to display actual time.

  • Pagination on ADF DVT Bar graph

    Hi
    I am using ADF 11.1.1.5. I am trying to do pagination on dvt bar graph component. The pagination is like << 1 2 3 >>. The default range size in page definition is suppose 5.The things are working fine on all links except 2. I get 1-5 record on first link. On 3 its 11-15 and so on. But n 2 i get 1-5 only. I am using setRangeStart() and setRangeSize methd to get next record. If range size is 6 then on firsti get 1-6, on 3 its 13-18 but 2 doesn't works. The range is setting only from one place. So nothing seems wrong in code. Please suggest.
    Thanks

    Hi,
    the easiest way to build pagination in is
    1. Drag the bar graph onto a page
    2. On the PageDef file, change the RangeSize property to 5 (in your case)
    3. From the DataControl panel, drag and drop the NextSet and PreviousSet operations of the View Object
    4.Configure the af:graph PartialTriggers property to point to the two buttons
    5. Ensure the buttons have their PartialSubmit property set to "true"
    Its not identical to having index icons, but its declarative and works out of the box
