XY Graph shows phantom dots when zoomed

I'm plotting a large data set versus time in an XY graph.  When I zoom in, the plot shows the data, plotted in lines, but also shows a large number of phantom dots.  When setting the plot to "lines & markers" the phantom dots disappear.  See attached jpg.
Has anyone seen this / have a solution?

It seems to me to be either a bug with graphs or a redraw issue (OS bound and not exactly LabVIEW issue). I haven't seen it myself though. Is it possible to replicate the issue with a smaller VI and an array constant for the values? If so then that would be really helpful to post so we can debug.
Here (attached) is a VI I created to try and find the bug but was unable to. This doesn't mean that this issue is only on your machine but just means that we need to dig a little deeper to figure out what causes it. I created it in LabVIEW 2012 but saved this back to 8.0 so you could take a look at it.

  • Graph not showing all years when broken down by month

    Hi
    I have a table view showing monthly trends of data within several years.
    A graph showing the same data only picks up one of the years. I only have
    one column - total jobs on the Y axis - and month on the X axis.
    Would anyone have an idea as to why the total jobs on the Y axis doesn't
    pick up all the years showing on the table view?
    Many thanks.

    Hi Jim,
    What is your month format?. i think the data is getting aggregated for all years into one month set.

  • Lightroom 5.2 BLURRY When Zooming and Moving

    EDIT: Updating to 5.5 seemed to have fixed this. FINALLY!
    Now when panning around while zoomed in, it no longer pixelates.
    This was not in any previous versions or 5.2 RC. Happens in the develop module.
    1. Everytime I zoom in or out, the image goes BLURRY for a second.
    2. Then when zoomed in and I click and drag, it say's sharp except on the edges that where not in view which get's pixelated, but when I let go of the mouse button, the entire picture goes blurry for 1-5 seconds. Even if I click and drag only 1 pixel over it blurs the entire photo.
    3. It also sometimes does it when  tapping \ to show before and after it goes all blurry and lags before it shows the before.
    4. It does it when  clicking back and forth from one image to another in the photo strip.
    Before it use to be zooming in would look mildly pixelated for a moment, then when clicking and draginng only the edges out of view would look mildly pixeled for a moment. This is driving my nuts I've reinstalled lightroom, deleted the preferencees folder, optimised catalog. Not fixed. It's also slower than it use to be.
    Example. Sometimes the blur is even worse. Click to enlarge

    I solved my own issue.  I saw an article @ http://www.lightroomforums.net/showthread.php?19694-Spot-removal-tool-doesn-t-work-with-Wa com-Intuos-5-in-LR-5 that solved my issue.
    Step 1:
    Walcom Tablet Properties
    Step 2:
    Click on Customize and change the default line graph from this:
    Step 3:
    To this
    Step 4:
    Click OK.
    After that, my spot edit tool stopped freezing in LR 5.2 while i was using my intuos 5 pen.
    Prior to doing this, I also did the procedure listed here:  http://forum.wacom.eu/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=8036
    So it's possible that both need to be done in order for the freezing to stop.  I hope this can help others.

  • SWF Export, no font showing in Acrobat and zoom border problem (Acrobat & Reader) - Indesign CS6

    Hi Everyone,
    If anyone could help me on this that would be great, I've spent hours on the forums and manuals to no avail.
    I'm making an interactive PDF brochure in Indesign for one of our new products and I'm having issues (actual or perceived??!!) with the SWF export and PDF creation.  I'm placing animations and video in the INDD, exporting it as an SWF (with the text option as Flash Classic Text) and then opening the SWF (not importing to a word doc or anything, just opening the SWF) with Acrobat using the advanced options to import the video resources and to enable the content when the page is opened.  I then save the file as a PDF.  In the PDF everything works as it should, the animations, the buttons, the video plays and so on.  Great.. hmm not quite.
    The trouble I am having is that all the content of the SWF when viewed in Acrobat seems to be getting rasterised/flattened - is this correct?  After the SWF is opened, Acrobat indicates no fonts in the fonts tab in the document properties so when the SWF is zoomed in Acrobat, or the saved PDF in Reader, the font gets pixelated and the document is not searchable/text can not be highlighted.  The images are not selectable either - it is as if the entire page has been flattened to one image.  Is there a way to stop this so that the SWF opened with Acrobat retains the font and individual images like a normal PDF?  Do I have to open the SWF in Flash first to set some parameters or something?  Is there something I am doing wrong when exprting the SWF from Indesign?  I think I have tried about every possible export combination.  When I open the .HMTL (exported at the same time as the SWF from Indesign) in a browser, the same happens.  All the animations work but the text appears to be rasterised/flattened/not searchable.  Sorry if I'm not using the correct terminology.
    I have tried importing the SWF back into another new INDD and exporting that as an interactive PDF but then the video does not work.  I suppose I could try exporting all the individual animations as SWFs, importing them all and trying to get them to work with the video but I can see that will take quite some time and does not seem to be a guaranteed solution from what I have read on the forums - video playback being the issue.
    Another problem is that when the SWF, or saved PDF, is zoomed in Acrobat/Reader between approx 150% and 210% a thick white border appears in the document and the content is squashed into the middle creating a slightly pixelated and narrow page.  When I zoom out from the page I get a small white line on the right hand border at around 70% zoom.  Please see images.  Does anyone have any idea why this is happening and what I can do to fix it?
    On another, sort of related topic, my timing panel went blank yesterday and was not showing any animations in documents that it had been used to order and synch animations on page load as well as new documents.  The panel was blank.  I updated to V8.0.1 and the panel sprang back into life - hope that helps anyone else finding the same problem.
    I am not very familiar with Indesign/Acrobat/Flash so I guess all the above could be what I'm doing or I could be asking  really dumb questions - apologies from a newbie.
    Best,
    Emily

    Hi All,
    I have now pretty much solved all the issues by creating the SWF in Flash rather than Indesign.  I would advise anyone looking to create an interative PDF with animation and interactivity to go with Flash from the start.  While Flash is a little more involved to create the same effects as Indesign, the extra time taken will ensure a more controllable and better looking PDF in terms of text quality, scalability and so on.  Plus you will not spend days trying to get video to work along side imported SWF etc in Indesign.  One of the best controls in Flash is being able to set the stage.scaleMode for the document so the PDF still looks crisp when zooming, no white borders etc.  So, create the .fla, export to .SWF, open the .SWF with Acrobat, modify the advanced settings to enable start on page load and save as a PDF.  If you don't know Flash, I didn't a couple of days ago, watch a couple of tutorials on Youtube.. buttons, tweens, embedding video and you'll be ready.  Don't be put off by ActionScript, there are really handy Code Snippets in CS6 that do all the heavy lifting for you.
    Sorry Indesign!
    Best,
    Em

  • ICal is showing phantom entries at the beginning of each month

    Back in January, I added two appointments to my iCal "Home" calendar (which I share with my wife's iCal via WebDAV):
    Physical Therapy on January 24 at 5:00 pm
    Physical Therapy on January 31 at 3:30 pm, repeated weekly until February 21
    These 5 appointments are displayed correctly on the January and February month views.
    But beginning in February, iCal goes crazy, showing phantom appointments:
    The January 25 appointment is displayed on the first Sunday in the February view (January 29).
    All 5 appointments are displayed in the first Sunday in the March view (February 25) and the first Sunday of every subsequent month.
    In my wife's iCal, the January 25 appointment is displayed on the rst Sunday in the February view (January 29) and every subsequent month.
    Printing is even worse:
    When I print the March view from my iCal, it shows all 5 appointments on every single day.
    When my wife prints the March view from her iCal, it shows the January 25 appointment on every single day.
    I suspect one fix to this problem would be to simply delete the two appointments on January 24 and 31.  However, I'd like to retain these entries for queries months from now (e.g., "When did I go to physical therapy.").

  • A 1 pixel gap appears on webpage on the ipad or when zoomed on a Mac with Firefox 4

    I'm having an issue with a website having a 1 pixel gap under various OS's and browsers.
    http://www.coffeeandcream.ca/
    When viewed on an iPad it shows a 1 pixel gap on the right side of the link icons.  When you zoom on the iPad, the gap disappears and reappears at random zoom factors.
    When viewed on my Mac Pro under Firefox (version 4) it is fine to start, but when zoomed, random images have the 1 pixel gap sometimes above and below or to the left or right or sometimes both above/below and left/right.
    I'm not over worried about the behaviour of Firefox...since it is only when the page is zoomed.
    When I view it on my Windows PC, I have no issue with the gap under Firefox 3 or 4, or IE.
    Any thoughts on what is going on?
    Thanks in advance,

    Have you thought of entering the following code at the very top of your CSS file?
                    margin: 0;
                    padding: 0;
                    border: 0;
    This should reset the browser of your iPad and FF in Mac.  I use neither so I can't test it at my end.  the above code is not likely to affect any other standards compliant browsers.

  • White border problem when zooming with SWF in PDF

    Hi Everyone,
    I have posted my original querry in the Indesign forum:
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/5176893#5176893
    I'm having problems with zooming whedn trying to create a PDF with SWF inserted.. at certain levels of zoom I get a white border on the left and right of the document which squashes the content into the middle and makes it a little pixelated.  I also get a thin white border on the right when zooming out.  Does anyone have any ideas where I might be going wrong?
    Thanks,
    Em

    Not wishing to be rude, but that workflow is not supposed to be used that way.
    InDesign's ability to export SWFs is intended for showing the file in a Web page, and Acrobat's ability to embed SWFs is only intended for small annotations placed within the pages of a conventional PDF file. By placing the entire Layout as a SWF you are in effect playing the entire thing as a movie in Flash Player - all the advantages of the PDF format are completely lost, there is no vector-rendering of any content or text, and users will find it very hard to understand what's going on (the navigation buttons in Acrobat or Reader will not work, text is not searchable or accessible, multiple pages cannot be printed, etc.).
    It's not entirely trivial to do this 'correctly', as at the moment we don't have full support in the PDF standard for all the interactive features that InDesign can apply to page objects - that's why they are grouped into PDF and non-PDF in the various selection menus in InDesign. Rather than saving as a SWF you should be using Export to Interactive PDF, and ensuring that the various interactive items and media are all selected on the export dialog.
    Basic stuff such as links and video will export just fine that way, and the PDF will preserve everything else in the Layout as native text or graphics so it'll look fine, navigate properly and be searchable. Animations and buttons will not work as expected, so you may have to revise their behavior if PDF is your intended output destination.

  • Any solution to pixelated images when zooming?

    Wondering if there is a solution to prevent pdf images on transparent background from pixelating when zoomed in.
    This is a screen capture. There are two knife images. The large white knife is a pdf on a transparent background saved at 108 ppi in photoshop, it is part of a object state/slide show (saved as vector obviously since type is sharp) that fades in. Doesn't seem to matter what size/dimensions I use, it still gets blurry when you pinch and zoom.
    See here:
    The smaller black knife image at top left is also a pdf on transparent background, saved at 108 ppi in photoshop. It is not an object state,etc.
    The knife images look fine at full screen on the iPad, but once you pinch and zoom, both images loose focus and become blurry.
    Any solution to this? The images need to be pdf (or png - which I understand will not scale at all), because they are on transparent backgrounds.
    Thanks!

  • Text Moves When Zooming/Printing

    Hi everyone,
    My wife is going to school for graphic design and is having a huge problem with InDesign. When placing text in very precise locations, the text moves when she zooms in/out significantly. Even when it shows the text being in the perfect location at 100% (although it is not perfect when zooming in or out), it will be moved when the file is exported as a PDF or printed. Needless to say this is causing major problems for her. We have already reset the program preferences with no luck. She is using the Design Premium CS5.5 version of InDesign on a MacBook Pro with OSX Lion.
    As a side note, I tried the same tasks on my Windows 7 PC with Design Standard CS5 with no problems. We compared the program settings and made sure there were no differences but it still happened on her Mac. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

    Hi everyone,
    I'm really sorry for the delay. I took screenshots at each zoom where the type shifted. Here are the screenshots:
    @4000%
    @300%
    @125%
    @100%
    The reason that I don't believe it is simply monitor inconsistencies is due to the fact that whether I align the type at 4000% or 100%, the print still doesn't match the on-screen display. If I align at 100%, the print is still off by the same amount as these screenshots. Thanks again for your help.

  • How do I stabilize shimmering fine lines when zooming or panning?

    I just completed an HD video that was exported in Standard Definition (SD) using Apple ProRes 422 codec. The video came out fine except when the clip of a JPG image zooms in or out using the zoom motion controls. The fine detail "shimmers" or "flutters", especially when zooming at a point when the image is nearly all the way zoomed out. (the fine detail is the smallest, then.) This is not a typical de-interlace problem where the whole image is highly erratic. The disturbance only happens on the fine detail in the JPG; the thicker lines are not affected. I applied a de-interlace filter and then separately applied a de-flicker filter. Neither of these filters had any effect. I was told by a highly regarded technician at our local access station who I would evaluate as an expert in FCP that this shimmering affect for fine detail was normal, especially in SD. HD, he said, will greatly reduce but will not eliminate it.
    Does others have thoughts about this and possible solutions? Thank you

    The flickering is an artifact of the two field structure of interlaced video. It is a result of very thin (often horizontal) elements that exist on one scanline as is common in text or titling. This can also be the case in images with great deal of detail with high contrast as well as when when you are engaged in pan/zoom moves on stills.
    As the alternate fields play, the flashing element is essentially being turned on/off. The basic strategy is to get the element to exist over two scanlines so it is refreshed every time the field plays or to reduce the amount of contrast so the difference between ON and OFF is not noticeable.
    Before you start any of these steps listed below, make sure you are viewing your material on an appropriate monitor. If you are working in an NTSC/PAL interlaced format (eg DV) you need an external TV monitor - not a computer screen. Without the appropriate device, you are playing blind.
    Things to try (In increasing order of image degradation)
    • (in FCP) field order>none
    • (in FCP or Photoshop) reduce whites by 10% - reduces overly bright areas
    • (in FCP) flicker filter - minimum
    • (in Photoshop) motion blur>vertical> .2 - .5 pixels - blurs vertically only
    • (In FCP or Photoshop) Gaussian blur> .2 - .5 pixels -blurs both horizontally as well as vertically
    • (in FCP or Photoshop) deinterlace - throws away half the image and is generally not appropriate on scanned images
    Remember: Unless you are viewing your work in the appropriate external NTSC/PAL monitor, you are playing blind. The computer monitor only shows you a proxy image.
    One final thought, if you have slowed your material significantly, and have not used some sort of frame blending/optical flow processing, you may be simply duplicating frames to create the additional material to pad the playback. The flashing you see is the result of this.
    good luck.

  • How do I create graph showing savings over time?

    Hey there, I'm trying to create a graph showing savings over time. I only have data for random months (they aren't spread apart evenly) So this chart isn't showing an accurate slope of savings over time. I tried entering months in between the months I have recorded and just leaving the savings amount blank but that deletes the curved slope on the graph. Is there a way and can show only these 7 recorded numbers but have them spread out on the graph to reflect the accurate time?
    Thanks,
    Caleb

    The only way I can see of "stretching" the x-axis into a regular timeline would be to add extra rows for some of the intervening dates and then averaging the both the dates and the amounts from the row above and the row below:
    You can then hide the rows that contain the averaged amounts.
    When you create the chart you'll need to tick the "Hidden data" button under Chart Options:
    After you've created the chart, you can edit the dates on the x-axis to remove any unwanted labels.
    Hope this helps.
