Yahoo Mail to Mac Mail

Not sure if this is the right place to add this but I'm desperate.
I've just set up a yahoo mail account and am struggling to get it to download into my mac mail application. It keeps asking me for my password. I give it and it asks again, then again etc. But if I log in online, it works fine.
HELP PLEASE....

Is this a free Yahoo account, a Yahoo Plus account, or a ISP-based Yahoo account?
For free account, you'll need to install MacFreePOPs
For Yahoo Plus, see here:http://help.yahoo.com/us/tutorials/mail/mail/mail_access4.html
For ISP-based Yahoo, check your ISP's Support site or contact them

  • Can't set up Yahoo account on Mac Mail

    Here's hoping someone can help!!
I'm trying to set up my Yahoo account on Mac Mail and my week old Mac (running OS X 10.10/Yosemite) is simply refusing to let me!
I've tried adding the account through Add Account in the Mail app, and by adding it through System Preferences: it either simply keeps returning to the initial set up screen (Mail) or it says 'Cannot connect to the server 'Unknown' (System Preferences).
I have had a look through the all the help pages, but I can't find anything which might help me out - can anyone make a suggestion?!
I have set up my business email (IMAP) and that is working fine.  I have also got my Yahoo account on my MacBook and it works fine so I'm fairly confident it's nothing to do with my Yahoo account...
    What am I doing wrong?!
    Thanks in advance...

Typically, right after I posted this, I managed to do it!!
For the benefit of anyone else: rather than choosing Yahoo from the menu, I clicked 'Add Another Account' (thinking I could manually add the IMAP settings|) and it worked...didn't even need to input them myself...

  • How do you stop needing to verify email password when using yahoo.att with Mac Mail

How do you stop needing to verify email password when using yahoo.att with Mac Mail?

Nevermind, I fixed it (I think).  I went into Settings | Accounts & Sync and found Yahoo at the bottom of the list (alphabetically).  I selected it and it had an optiion to delete the account, which I did.

  • Can someone tell me why the Yahoo mail server (IMAP) keeps requesting my Yahoo email password and says it's incorrect?  Yahoo is my Mac mail server.  This has happened before, but this time I can't get it to 'Cancel'

You will have to contact Yahoo Support.

  • Syncing Yahoo Mail and Mac Mail

I upgraded to Yahoo Mail Pro in order to use my Yahoo Mail through Mac Mail. When I delete an email through Safari/Yahoo, Mac Mail does not reflect that. How can I sync the two so that what I do in one occurs in the other? Further, for some reason all but four of my emails got deleted out of my Safari/Yahoo account. How the heck did that happen?

You can't. Yahoo Plus only offers POP access. To do what you want, you'll need an email provider who offers email via IMAP.

  • Syncing iPhone mail to Mac Mail

I use my Yahoo account on Mac Mail with no problems. However, when I sync to the iPhone, it gets every message from Yahoo.com (I'm guessing) instead of the <100 I have on Mac Mail.
Any ideas on how to fix this?
I have tried checking the Replace Mail box on the syncing info menu.
    Thanks very much.

The sync function for email accounts with the iPhone is for transferring email account setup information only from your computer to the iPhone so the account does not need to be manually created on the iPhone. This does not sync messages.
If this is a POP account, mailboxes and messages for the account are not synced with the iPhone. The iPhone's email client is similar to any other email client - new messages received by the incoming mail server for the account are downloaded to the iPhone with an account preference setting for removing messages from the server when downloaded - just as is available with the email client used on your computer to download new message with the account. Messages sent with a POP account with the iPhone's email client are stored locally on the iPhone only just as messages sent with the email client used on your computer for a POP account can only be stored locally on your hard drive.
If you want mailboxes and messages for an email account synchronized with the email client used on your computer and with the iPhone's email client, you need an IMAP account which is designed for this.

  • Cannot send mail from mac mail or Entourage

    Hi guys,
Wondered if anyone out there can shed some light on this little problem.
I use Entourage for my emails & all was working fine until yesterday. I can receive mail from all and sundry but I can't send anything. I subscribe to ntlworld internet service and if log onto my email through their webmail, then it's fine. I've tried sending mail from mac mail and I get the same problem. I've been onto microsoft support & gone through all the troubleshooting with Entourage. The Entourage techy suggested it was my internet provider blocking my emails as they think I'm a spammer?? I phoned ntl & they insist it's nothing to do with them as I can send/receive from the website. (If I send an email with the address @ntlworld it's fine, but any other address i.e. all my clients/mates etc just stays in my outbox.
Nothing on any of my settings has changed so I'm at a loss what to do next.
    Any suggestions greatly appreciated.
    Thanks, Mel

it may be that your server (internet provider) has just started blocking outgoing mails not authenticated by them.
Go to your account set up...
and fill in the following details.
    SMTP SERVER: smtp.mac.com
then click on advanced sending otions...
click on override default SMTP port... type 587
click on SMTP servber requires authentication...
use same setting as receiving mail server.
    try this...

  • How to transfer mails from mac mail to outlook?

Can anyone explain to me how to transfer e-mails from Mac Mail to Microsoft Outlook?

I just went the other way - Outlook to Thunderbird to Mac Mail.  I lost some notes in some folders.
My fall back position was to set up an IMAP account and use Google sync to Outlook to move my mail into a Google account.  Then on the Mac I set up a IMAP account to download all the mail.  Once I had it on the Mac, I copied the IMAP folders into Personal folders on Local Machine.  I then deleted the IMAP account and reverted to using my 'usual accounts'.
Hope this helps you a bit!

  • Cannot send mail in Mac mail

On my Macbook Pro I can receive mail in Mac mail, but the sent messages sit in the Outbox. I have tried Synchronize Gmail and Connection Doctor will not allow me to connect. The only server that comes up is Gmail. Any suggestions???
Have an appointment at the Apple shop, but not until Thursday next week??? Thanks Mel

    Hi Haggie
Had a similar experience but couldn't work out why macbook was working and imac not. I hate verification with bt. Anyway, tried your method and as you say eureka! Did have imac plugged in before and put it on wifi to try your fix  I will try plugging broadband back in to see if that works and will post back but at the moment just enjoying the moment!
Just to say a big thank you for not only sorting the problem out but equally importantly posting the answer! Too many people sort out their problems without letting other people know how!
    Many thanks

  • Incoming AOL mail in Mac MAIL Inbox disappears after a week

I´ve setup my AOL e-mail accounts in Mac MAIL. Receiving and sending mail via my AOL accounts works fine, but incoming mail will stay only for one week in the Incoming mail folder of Mac MAIL. After one weeks it disappears from the Incoming mail folder and it´s not longer available in MAIL at all. (I can only access it throught the AOL software or AOL Communicator themself, where it´s archived.). Sent (AOL) mail on the other side is still available in the Sent folder of MAIL. Is there any way to keep/store the Received AOL mail in Mac MAIL?

    Hi Padua & JWurzak!
I don't know if this will help, but, in your AOL Preferences > Mail: under Automation, do you have the two options below checked?
    Save the mail I read
    Save the mail I send
Also, in AOL Preferences > Filing Cabinet: do you have Automatically delete items in my filing cabinet checked, and Never selected, in the contextual menus below?
