Yellow images

I placed a jpg image into my InDesign document that is supposed to be white snow, but after I place it the images becomes yellow.  In fact, after I choose the image to place and before I click in my document a frame to put it in, it's actually the correct color.  But as soon as I place it, it turns yellow.  When I create a pdf, it's back to white.  But when I try to use the Blurb book creator to upload the book, it's back to yellow.  Why?  If I try to use any other non-Adobe product, like Publisher, it's the correct color.  This same thing happens when I open it in PhotoShop.
How do I get rid of the yellow tint on my images?  What should my color settings and profiles be?   I am using Adobe InDesign CS6 for Windows.  My current setup is:
Settings-Custom
Working Spaces:
RGB - sRGB IEC61966-2.1
CMYK - U.S. Web Coated SWOP v2
Color Management Polices:
RGB - Preserve embedded profile
CMYK - Preserve numbers (ignore linked profile)
Conversion options:
Engine - Adobe (ACE)
Intent - Relative Colormetric
Use black point compensation-checked
Thanks for your help,
Gina

You can't turn of color management—even with the Emulate ID 2 preset the colors are being managed you just don't know how.
When you save the istockphoto make sure to include its profile:
Then in Indesign select the image and double-check that its profile is assigned. With the image selected choose Object>Image Color Settings:

  • VGA adapter with iPad 3 creates yellow image on VD

An apple VGA adapter works fine with iPad2, but with iPad3 the image is too yellow.
I tried on two different iPad3. I repeat there is no problem with iPad2.
Is there a new generation of VGA adapters for iPad3 or is this a defective unit?
    Regards

I know this thread isnt that recent but the answer can be found when you look at the VGA adapter product page mention in an earlier post:
"The Apple VGA Adapter mirrors exactly what you see on iPad 2 so that everyone in the room can enjoy it.
The Apple VGA Adapter supports video out (only) for iPad, iPhone 4, or iPod touch (4th generation)."
So there you have it - only video out is supported on the original iPad / iPhone 4 / iPad Touch.

  • Firefox won't print 'highlights' made by a marking tool on a form. I have enabled 'Print backgrounds' options and the yellow image overlays print fine in other browsers. Is this a setting within windows 7?

I am trying to print a document through Firefox. We have a Form view / marking tool to make these image overlays to make highlighted boxes on the document.
It prints the yellow 'highlight overlays' fine in all other browsers and in OSX using firefox, but the highlighted boxes won't print in Firefox using Windows 7.
I have the 'Print backgrounds' option checked in Firefox settings.
    Please advise.

  • Softproofing - yellow image surround when proofing to printer profile

I'm having a problem with soft proofing images to a printer profile.
When I select the appropriate printer profile (which in this case is a custom-built profile that I've had made for Harman Gloss Baryta paper) and enable the "Simulate Paper and Ink" setting, the area around the image goes bright yellow.
The gamut highlighting and soft proofing appear to be working correctly.

Can we get hold of that profile please?  You may be able to attach it here, or email it to [email protected] with a link to this thread.  Thanks.

  • How can I transform an image into a different design?

I've used the Distort effects in AE to modify the following video:
    Into this:
I'm a pretty pleased with the results.  I simply used the Transform and Mirror effects.
However, I have a bunch of other designs which I can't distort into a good alternative design by using the same method.  Here is an example:
I am hoping some of you very clever people can come up with a method I can use for transforming this sort of design into something decent!
    Thanks!

    Thanks for the replies!
I realise this is a broad question.  I will elaborate on the images from my first post in order to provide more details:
    1)  I have generated a number of animated designs, the blue image when animated looks like moving electricity.  All of the designs are geometric patterns of one form or another.  I have around 50 of these designs.
    2)  I want to create variations on these geometric animations. Rather than start from scratch and create a brand new design (which is a lengthy process), I want to use the effects in After Effects to create variations.  In the example I provided, I took the blue design and used a number of effects to create the green design.
    3)  Essentially, I now have two different animations.  The blue original, and the green variation.
    4)  Here is my question.  Are there any specific effects within After Effects, that allow me to distort an image/animation to such a degree that it essentially looks like a different image/animation?  So far, I have used Transform and Mirror.
I gave Kaleidoscope a try, and that gave some good results, so thanks for that suggestion.
    5)  The problem I am having is that some of my other designs are more or less 'symmetrical' in appearance - like the yellow image from my first post.  The Transform, Mirror and Kaleidoscope effects do not really distort the symmetrical animations enough.  This is because they simply tend to either rotate the image (which is a circle, so rotating it does little), or they mirror the design (which again does little as the image is a circle).  So, are there any other effects I can choose which will distort a symmetrical geometrical design, whilst still retaining a degree of geometric appearance?
I thank you again for your time, it really is appreciated!
EDIT:  As Todd Kopriva suggested, here is the link to the other forum post:  http://forums.creativecow.net/readpost/2/1008997  - I forgot to link back to this forum from there.  I will add that shortly.

  • Soft Proofing now dark & yellow

Photoshop (CS4 on Windows XP) froze at startup this morning - 3 times in a row.
I was able to restart but now my custom Soft Proof settings, and I tried serveral, make the images display as dark and yellow.  It's as if the Paper White setting was the equivalent of the lowest grade of old newsprint you care to imagine.
What happened and how can I fix it?
    cvt

Well I re-did the monitor profiles with PMP 5 and got  the same results - toggling Soft Proof on and off (Cntrl-Y) displayed a darker/yellow image when on.
Then I re-profiled both monitors with i!Match (I profiled the lesser, an HP-TFT display, and then matched the NEC IPS to it) and now Soft Proof works as it should.
Why did PMP 5 do this?
I ran PMP 5 on another Dell with a Dell monitor to see if I had overlooked some step or setting that was crucial and nothing leaped out at me.
This makes me wonder if I can depend on any profile from PMP 5.

  • Image manipulating

    hi, this is my problem:
i would like to be able read an image-file from the disk and i would like to scale it depending
on it's size... if it's to big i would like to make it smaller.. :) if it's possible it would be good
to be able to scale the image in both file-size and image-size.
is there any standard classes for this or does anyone know about any good packages?
would also be nice if anyone good give me a good example of the procedure.
    thanx!
    /Andy

yes this can be done here is some code tht will show you how to do it. you will need to replace the images files that are in the code with ones of your own.... Also you need to be aware that java only supports Jpg and gif's ...nothing else.
// Start of the code. Cut paste compile and run For what you want look for "varient "B" in the Code and // comment out one or the other and run you will see the difference. You must supply your own jpg's or
    // gif's!!

  • External Hard Drive and Time Machine no longer recognized

I recently downloaded the latest software update and upon rebooting the system to install the security update and whatever other update was included, my external hard drive which contains time machine is no longer recognized. I tried to use disk utility to mount it, fix it, but nothing worked. I am led to think that it's gotta be something in the latest update because i haven't had any problems before this. Sometimes the drive shows up as a yellow image sometimes in disk utility, the rest of the time it is a sort of transparent gray. What's wrong with my machine??? Can i simply uninstall the latest update? would that even solve this issue? i NEED to get into this drive and recover these files

BUMP! Count me in on this one. The last Time Machine back-up was 12/6. I take my machine to the office during the week but am working from home this week. My other external drive (Archives) shows up, but Time Machine is MIA. Looking at System Profiler under USB, I can see the drive on the USB hub and the volume is labeled Time Machine, so the computer sees it, it just doesn't mount it to the desktop so Time Machine can't find its drive.
I've turned the drive off and on. I've swapped cables with the Archive drive. I've rebooted. Nothing works. Both are Western Digital MyBook Studio editions. Both are plugged in to the same hub. I also switched the cables on the hub, but if it's showing up in the Profiler, the problem isn't with the hub, the drive or the cable.
Suggestions? Clues? Comments? I'd rather not lose a year's worth of Time Machine back-ups at this point, plus I can't even reformat the drive.

  • Troubleshooting: Help please. Creating a PDF file from a Photoshop-designed project

I wanted to add personal design elements to my resume so I decided to use Photoshop to add in a logo and a footer. The problem is, when I converted the 3 Photoshop .psd files (3 pages) to .pdf files, the combined file came out to be very big in size. The biggest was 2.88 MB and the smallest that I got it to be without compromising the quality of the text and images was 1.48 MB.
    What did I do wrong?
I've seen other .pdf files with more images and more color and definitely more pages and text which were only 300KB in size. How can I make my final .pdf file size small but still retain the quality of the original design from Photoshop?
I've tried merging the layers before saving. I've tried turning the files into .gif files before making the pdf. Into jpegs before making the pdf. Changing the canvas and image sizes in Photoshop into super small which made the final pdf file unreadable and super blurry. I'm at my wit's end.
    Details:
.psd image size 8.5 by 11 inches (normal resume size)
colors - black, gray, light blue and light yellow
Images are very minimal, 4 lines total and around 5 circles at the header of the first page and footer of the 3rd page.
    Help please!
    X-cross-post: Acrobat Forum-X

This is so sad. I read your comments and I said, "Huh?" Haha!
I tried the indexed color option and it did make the final file smaller. Around 600KB. But there's probably another way to make it even smaller like the gazillion-paged pdf file that I mentioned that was only about 300KB.
And by saying a layout program, does that mean like Adobe InDesign? Does that mean that I should just make my graphics in Photoshop and then import using another program and finish the file there?
What other layout programs can I use?
    Thank you so much!

You start loading the image by the MediaTracker, do it in an other variable, say "image0".
    Then everything should go right.
I can guess, why you got no answer; the unindented code (not your fault) is awfull reading.
Hope I got it right; otherwise:

    // In action performed:
    showImage = true;
    // In paint:
    if (showImage) g.drawImage

  • Placing Photoshop file in Illustrator CS5 - why doesn't it work?

I frequently place Photoshop files into Illustrator CS3 without issue.... the PS file places right into the file with transparent surroundings.
I just upgraded to CS5 and for some reason, I "Place" the Photoshop file, but nothing shows up in Illustrator.  I must not have a preference set correctly.
    Can you help?
    Thanks.

Hi Matthew - thanks for taking the time to check this issue out for me.
I have just uninstalled Illustrator CS5, because I need to get things done - and reverted back to CS3..... however, I did duplicate a file to demonstrate what I'm doing.
I created a sample file with a very simple, non-descript  green vector shape.... then, In Photoshop, I created a yellow image that says Photoshop Placed File.  I gave it a dropshadow...
I then went back to Illustrator and selected 'File/place'..... and selected the photoshop file described above.  I then placed it on top of the green vector image in Illustrator CS3 and it layed on top fine - with NO white box around it as a jpg would do.  PLUS, the black dropshadow fades nicely over whatever image color you place it upon.... it 'gradually' lets the vector color below it show through as the fade diminishes to 0%.
NOW - I tried to 'place' a file into Illustrator CS5 in this same manner.... and I get absolutely nothing!  The Raster photoshop image doesn't even show up in Illustrator CS5.  This is where I was at when I started the topic.
    Any ideas??

  • Cannot upload via fckeditor in CF9 even after JVM and config fix

    Howdy,
This was working fine in CF8, but not in CF9.
I have added -Dcoldfusion.fckupload=true to the JVM arg list, and I can see it in the jvm.config file, and I've restarted the CF server.
I have set the Config.Enabled to a value that should evaluate to true when someone is logged in, and restarted the CF server a whole bunch more times.
Yet, when I click on the little yellow image in the toolbar, the Upload tab is still missing.
How do I enable file upload in CF 9?

i know this is an old thread but i'm guessing the problem has to do with new features in CF 9. i just ran a compatibility report against some code i'm migrating from cf7 to cf8 and fckeditor has a lot of custom functions which are now cf9 functions so they are colliding. if you run the compatibility report (from within cf administrator) you can see the issues and then from there it's a matter of find and replace in the code...... or upgrade to the ckeditor whcih doesn't appear to have any issues...

  • HELP!!! Lightroom automatically adjusting color in my photos and I can't  change it.

Background: I am evaluating lightroom. I have zero tolerance for automatic adjustments that I can't control, since I strive for absolute consistency across all my photos. That means a manual setting of exposure and white balance on my camera, and I need to have manual control over post-processing.
Problem: When I import a photo into lightroom, it applies some color adjustments that throw off the color pretty badly. For example, when I first import the photo into lightroom, I see this (brown horse, red dirt):
Just a few seconds later it turns into this, and I am powerless to change it (yellow horse, yellow dirt):
Is there any way I can change this?

First you see the thumbnail inside the RAW, which is produced by the camera. Second LR applies it's own raw conversion over it. If you use the raw converted provided with the camera you will get picture nro one result.
(brown horse, red dirt) VS (yellow horse, yellow dirt) is excatly what I am trying to explain in this thread.
    http://www.adobeforums.com/cgi-bin/webx/.3bc4c365/94
The difference is between the camera's own conversion VS LR conversion. And in MY opinion there is not much you can do about this. And in my opinion there is nothing you should do about this, because raw converter should produce tonally accurate results straight from the box. That's what you have paid for. All the other adjustments are there to adjust the default tonally accurate and tonally rich photo to your preferences, not to adjust the 0 tones in orange-yellow image to closer to the scene you just photographed.
Just look this fireplace photo i took to show what i mean (ACR=LR in the markings, dpp = canon digital photo professional and DXO is converter of DXO labs):
    http://jkphoto.pp.fi/upload/acr_dpp_dxo.jpg
Focus on the transition from orange to yellow. In LR conversions the tones go from orange to light pinkish tone. In dpp and dxo conversions the orange turns to yellow.

  • Working with RAW

Just installed iPhoto 6, and was initially disappointed to find that RAW conversion is still absolute rubbish for some images. I had a moment of hope when I saw the 'reprocess raw', but this was soon dashed when I saw the resulting yellow image just as it had been before.
However, probing a little deeper, I was hugely impressed to find a solution to my biggest criticism of iPhoto. Previously (on ER) iPhoto did a raw conversion to jpeg, then if you selected edit in another application it would open that rubbish conversion (with poor white balance, and the lossy jpeg format). Now, it seems (and I am just about to experiment) it gives the options of opening the RAW image in an external editing package, but also the option of using 16 bit TIFF's instead of JPEGs.
I had been on the brink of starting the arduous task of moving my iPhoto library to the Adobe Bridge (part of Photoshop CS2). Thankfully, it seems it's going to be worth giving iPhoto a second chance.

There is a work around that involves opening your
    photo twice into Photoshop.
First open the RAW file and do your
    conversions/settings.
Leave the converted RAW file open in Photoshop and
open it a second time from iPhoto except this time
    tell it to use JPEG.
In Photoshop you'll now have two files open of the
same image. Drag the converted RAW image from its
window to the JPEG image (that iPhoto created
originally). This effectively replaces the JPEG with
your converted RAW (in a new layer). Flatten the JPEG
image and save it. Since this JPEG was created by
iPhoto in its library, it will now be updated in
iPhoto. Just close your converted RAW image without
    saving.
That's a great solution, thank you. A little bit of a hassle, but much less so than I was starting to think I would be in for. Superb. I was wondering whether to use TIFF's instead, but I guess that with the RAW image safely stored, if I needed a high quality edit I can go back to the RAW image any time.
One minor tweak that Apple could do to iPhoto to make this workaround even easier would be if right clicking on an image gave not just the option of 'Open in exernal editor' it could give 2 options 'Open original in external editor' or 'open current in external editor' (assuming that it's next to impossible for iPhoto itself to be improved further to avoid the need for this workaround).
I don't need, or want, any software to be able to write RAW formats. I sleep easy at night knowing that my RAW images are always untouched. If I could write to RAW there's always that chance I'd one day accidentally save an edit over the original. I positively like the way iPhoto does things in that respect, but I like the greater flexibility of Photoshop for editing (even if it's as simple as getting Photoshop to do a decent raw conversion and nothing more).
