Yosemite always asks for password from wake

I've just upgraded to Yosemite, but now every time the computer goes to sleep it asks me for a password.
I've disabled the 'Require Password' option in Security & Privacy, I've enabled Automatic Login and I've turned FileVault off, but it still asks me for one!
I tried deleting the password but then it still does it, but I just have to press enter instead of typing anything.

Can you see the login items in Keychain Access (in /Applications/Utilities) and verify that their passwords are set correctly?
If you navigate into your Library/Preferences folder and select com.apple.mail.plist and do a Get Info, are your permissions set to Read & Write (and Everyone else's permissions set to No Access)?

Every time I launch iTunes it always asks for password. I have no pending downloads or app updates. Nothing. There is no downloads plist to delete, no preferences to set - Fed up wth this. Been searching for answer for months. iTunes Store help just gives the runaround.

  • Cannot setup email account always asking for password

Just got the IPad3 and setting up my email account.  I tried setting it up the same way as my IPhone.  Had  the email account and password entered but when I exit, it gives me a message saying that it may not be able to send or received mail.  I don't know what else is missing from the setup.
When I try to open my email, it always asks for the password, entered the password again but does not open my email.
    Please help.
    Thank you.

Try a Reset [Hold the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons down together for 10 seconds or so (until the Apple logo appears) and then release. When the screen goes blank power On again in the normal way.] It is absolutely/appsolutely safe!

  • Finder always asks for password in Documents

When I try to make a new document, to save something or to edit something in my \Documents folder, Finder always asks for a password.
Saving in another program to the Documents folder isn't possible because the program can't write to the folder and just says ACCESS DENIED (Final Cut Express).
I checked the permissions of the Documents folder and it says User (me) Read and write and everyone (No access). What should I do to make my Documents folder somewhat more accessable?

Odd, but it worked. Thanks! The folder now behaves as it used to.
But nothing changed in the Permissions, which I think is odd.
Shouldn't Apple make a easier way to do this?
ah, yes, that's a good point, oft discussed on this forum. the problem is that there are a lot of ACLs like those "everyone deny delete" ones that were preventing you from modifying items in Documents that are completely invisible from GUI. as a result you look at the permissions panel and think that everything is normal when in fact there may be a number of ACLs present. this is a terrible design decision by Apple. one can only hope it will be addressed in future versions of OS X.

  • My computer is always asking for passwords

When I turn on my Mac it´s always asking for my iCloud and Keychain password. I don´t know what is happening, even if I introduce my password it will ask me again...

Have you changed your password lately? If so, you should reset your keychain.

  • CVS always asks for password

Whenever I contact the CVS server (over at Sourceforge) JDev always asks for the password to the server. Is there a way I can make JDev store this password in some way?
I use the CVS-executable in TortoiseCVS and also use the TortoisePlink executable as the ssh client. Everything works just perfect, it's just really annoying to have to type in my password for every little CVS activity.
    Any solutions?

The user is in the best position to decide if there is a security issue with persisting the password in JDeveloper or not.
I had this problem too. There is obviously a conflict in requirements of security vs usability so really, you should warn the user but let the user decide how to configure it and let him take responsibility.
JDeveloper should interoperate with the user's environment, within reason, and not make him change it.
Note, the HTTP proxy login has a similar problem. Not every time, but often when JDeveloper goes to the www it re-asks for the proxy password.
I dont care if JDeveloper stores either password in the clear in its XML configuration files, as long as it remembers them. It can warn me but it should do it if I tell it to ignore the risk. Then I can get on with my development job rather than having to reconfigure my CVS server or www proxy which are not mine to reconfigure anyway.
    Cheers,
    Simon.

  • HT1277 Can't sync my icloud with mail... always ask for password

Can't sync my icloud with mail... always ask for password

You have been using MobileMe's email settings, which sometimes continue to work for a time after migration but then get turned off. iCloud's mail server settings are different. Strictly speaking Lion 10.7.2 is required for iCloud, and on that Mail is set up automatically.
Snow Leopard cannot access most of iCloud's facilities, however you can set Mail up manually to access your email. The method is described here:

The situation with iCloud and Snow Leopard is described in detail here:

  • Always ask for password to purchase songs, how to stop it?

How do I fix it to where it won't ask for my password everytime I buy an item from iTunes? I didn't used to have to do it, but around the time I downloaded the new version of iTunes it has been doing it. Any ideas?

    I'm using one-click.
There is a checkbox for "remember password when purchasing".
I don't know if that shows up for shopping cart purchases.

  • ITunes store always asks for password

Every time I download anything from the iTunes Store (usually about once per week to update iPhone apps) it asks me for my password even though I mark the checkbox to remember my password for future downloads.
Is there a way to fix this? I have tried deleting the item from the keychain and even creating an entire new keychain.
    Thank you.

Andy, same here, for the moment.
These steps (maybe pedantic, but it's what I did):
    1) Under the Store menu in iTunes, select Sign Out... (logging out of iTunes store).
    2) Under the Store menu in iTunes, select Deauthorize Computer... (deauthorizing your iTunes account - be sure to type username and password properly).
    3) Under the Store menu in iTunes, select Authorize Computer... (reauthorizing your iTunes account - be sure to type username and password properly).
    4) Under the Store menu in iTunes, select Sign In... (logging back into the iTunes store - be sure to type username and password properly).
Since I've done this, I have not been asked for my password, a little less than 24 hours, but no new shows. So Monday morning will be my big test.

  • Rsync always asks for password

    Hi everyone,
I know nothing about mac I have just got my new Air.
I have a small network in the office and I have some remote servers as well. I upload from my office servers(kirk or spock) to my remote server(Neptune,Saturn,Eris). All servers are Fedora 7.
I use the same key(rsync-mykey-key) to communicate to all servers cause I am lazy!
This is the command I normally use to go from Fedora(kirk)--> Fedora(Neptune)
    *rsync -Pza -e "ssh -i /root/.ssh/rsync-mykey-key" /home/ [email protected]:/home/*
I am trying to go from my Macbook Air to Neptune.
I have put rsync-mykey-key into ~.ssh and added it to authorized_keys.
    BUT when I type in Terminal *ssh -i /root/.ssh/rsync-mykey-key 123.456.789.011* or *rsync -Pza -e "ssh -i /root/.ssh/rsync-mykey-key" /home/ [email protected]:/home/* +it keeps asking for my password!!+
    Any ideas why?
    Cheers
    John

I'm not too well versed in using authentication key files, but yeah, that's what I mean. Since you're running rsync through ssh, you should be able to run ssh in a similar way by itself. If that is supposed to access the key file and somehow doesnt then you know it's gotta be ssh as opposed to rsync.

  • Mail, always asks for password.. it's driving me crazy!

Lately my mail (2.1.3 version) icon bounces up and down when open, and a box pops up saying:
Enter password for account "POP account". The POP server"..." rejected the password for user "...." please re-enter your password, or cancel. Remember this password in my keychain.
I enter my password and ask it to remember it. It works fine for a short while before stalling then getting me to enter the password again. This is a new development and it worked fine before. Has anyone else experienced this? I have tried to look into mail prefs. to see if there is any adjustments to be made, but there seems to be none . The thing is even bouncing as I write this.. Thank you.

Hey guys I just posted on a similar thread about how I was able to fix the issue for me. i kept having problems with mail asking for my yahoo password. tried keychain repair, removing the account and adding it back, removing the plist file and even reinstalled 10.5 (not because of this) and the problem persist. So I went to my yahoo account settings and in to the Pop settings. There, listed were the exact configuration specs. I referenced those against my current configuration (which was Apple's automatic configuration) and noticed the inbound and outbound servers were missing the word "plus" in front of their respective servers addresses. Entered the correct address, and so far so good. It hasn't asked me for my password in over a week now so I think I'm safe. I would say, if you haven't already, double check your current configuration with something you find from your email provider, especially if you've used Apple's automatic setup. Hope this helps.

  • Keychain always asks for password on startup

I'm hoping someone can help with a little Keychain issue I've got... Each time I restart my PowerBook and the first time I use an application that accesses the internet, Keychain pops up and asks for my Keychain password. Not a big deal, but slightly annoying, and I'd like to get it stop. I've run Keychain first aid, and also got all the boxes ticked in the First Aid tab of Keychain's preferences. I've also double checked that the Keychain for my user id is unlocked when I restart, and finally, my user id password is the same as my Keychain password.
Has anyone else got a solution for this?
    Thanks .

Funny but I could have sworn that I found the answer to this here on the boards within the last 2 months.. but no sign of it.
Sounds like one or both of the keychains have a problem. From what I remember as being my fix was... First try moving/copy Library/Keychains/System.keychain to a safe place and delete the original, then restart the machine and set the password again.
Last try moving/copy your keychain at ~/Library/Keychains/login.keychain to the desktop, deleting the original. Logout/restart and log back in and set the password again. As this will remove all of you passwords this would be the least desirable solution. Also make sure that there is only one keychain in this folder, that should possibly be your first step.

  • ICloud always asks for password following email change?

I recently changed my apple email.
But the iCloud on my macbook pro (2009; running Mavericks) will not recognize the new email as being the one for iCloud.
It continuously interrupts what I'm doing and asks for my password.
Any suggestions on how to solve this?
    Cheers.
    Taz

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iCloud account on your computer, you need to sign out of the account from your computer first, then sign back in using your updated details. (System Preferences > iCloud, click the sign out button)
Providing you are simply updating your existing details and not changing to another account, when you delete your account, all the data that is synced with iCloud will also be deleted from the device (but not from iCloud), but will be synced back to your device when you login again.
In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iTunes account on your iOS device, you need to sign out from your iOS device first, then sign back in using your updated details. (Settings > iTunes & App store, scroll down and tap your ID)
If you are using iMessages or FaceTime, you will also need to log out and into your ID there too.

  • ITunes Music Store always asking for password

I upgraded to iTunes 9, and now every time I open it, it asks for my account password. At first, it would say my password wasn't entered correctly. After several instances of that, I logged out of the store and then back in. It still asks for my password every time now, but the message doesn't indicate anything is wrong. Has anyone else seen this? Any ideas on how to fix it?
    Thanks.

I don't know if this is exactly what's happening to you, but it may be:
Apparently iTunes 9 sets cookies on your computer, and uses Safari to store them. So if you don't have cookies enabled in Safari (and you don't have any old iTunes cookies saved there), you can't sign in to the second level of the store (viewing your account or buying anything). If that's the case, set Safari to accept cookies and it should work (it did for me). It's possible (I've heard) that the latest version (4.0.3) of Safari is needed, but I'm not sure about that.
This is amazing to me - if you have cookies enabled, but SAFARI IS NOT OPEN, iTunes will still put cookies in Safari.
Note that this is on a Mac - on Windows it may use a different browser.
