Yosemite blurred menu bars

Hi to everyone,
on my iMac after the Yosemite's update I've seen a strange thing happen to the menu bars.
After 1/2 hours of work the menu bars start blurring and the only way to replace the high-res menu bars of Yosemite
is to reboot the machine.
Surfing Finder's window, file list and so on doesn't be affected from this issue,
only menu's bar (sidebar of Finder included).
How can I fix them? Never happened on older OS (from Sto lavorando to Mavericks).
Is a bug that can I hope Apple fix with latest updates?
Thanks so much

good evening
http://github.com/schreiberstein/lucidagrandeyosemite
This script has been the subject of an article on the site MacGeneration, a French website dedicated to mac. It is presented as a simple return back a little to find a 10.9 in 10.10.
I tried the thing ... and I still have not heard back blur!
The script will do the reverse operation so it is rather reassuring.
Tell me if it also solves your problem!
Indeed, we will see with 10.10.1 (and unfortunately there are other problem I would love to see solved ...)
Good weekend!

  • Yosemite menu bar blinking/freezing

Since updating to Yosemite, the menu bar on the right side has not functioned well. The elements on that side (wireless icon, sound, time, name, spotlight) blink on and off. It is incredibly distracting while I'm trying to work. A new thing happened just now: The time is steadily shown, instead of blinking, but it's frozen at 12:22 pm. When I open Time and Date in Preferences, that shows the correct time.
The Mac is a 21.5-inch with a 3.06 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo. I am using Yosemite 10.10.1. Please help - I have searched a lot and found no solution.

    Do a backup.
Go to Finder and select your user/home folder. With that Finder window as the front window, either select Finder/View/Show View options or go command - J.  When the View options opens, check ’Show Library Folder’. That should make your user library folder visible in your user/home folder.  Select Library. Then go to Preferences/com.apple.finder.plist.  Move the .plist to your desktop.
Re-launch Finder by restarting and test. If it works okay, delete the plist from the desktop.
If the same, return the .plist to where you got it  from, overwriting the newer one.

  • Yosemite menu bar, input source Greek flag removed. How to get it back?

In the new OS X Yosemite, the menu bar input source country flag has been removed for some countries. The Greek flag got removed, while the disputed "Macedonian" flag is intact. What was the reasoning behind this? This is very offensive to Greek OS X users. Please put back the flag, or post a solution to this asap. It will not go unnoticed.
    John

To convey your views to Apple, you need to use
    http://www.apple.com/feedback
Apple seems to have been gradually replacing flags with alphabetic symbols wherever possible.  Chinese and Japanese have been this way for quite a long time, and in Yosemite I count 30 keyboards (including Greek), nearly half the total, without the flag.  This is harder to do for Macedonian, which is one of many countries using the Cyrillic alphabet.
The easiest way to get the Greek flag back would be to download the app Ukelele, which includes copies of the Greek keyboard and the old flag icon, which you can install and use instead of Apple's.
    http://scripts.sil.org/ukelele
I can also send the keyboard and flag to you if you want if you provide an email.

  • Menu bar problems in Yosemite?

Is anyone else dealing with a frozen menu bar in Yosemite?
It seems my issue is related to SytemUIServer eating up a ton of CPU power and then hanging. The problem was causing my whole system to run slowly right after I installed Yosemite two days ago. Now everything else seems to run just fine by I still have a frozen clock in the menu bar and can't access any of the options up there (clock, volume, bluetooth, time machine).
Weirdly the icons for Google Drive and Dropbox in the menu bar work just fine. At this point everything else seems fine so I suppose the problem is tolerable. But I'd really rather not have that frozen clock staring at me all the time! By the way, I everything freezes up when I try to access Date & Time settings through the main Settings menu.
Has anyone else had a similar problem?
    Thanks!

    Hi TheProfessor314,
If you are having an issue with being unable to use some items in the menu bar of your Mac mini there are some possibilities for troubleshooting. I would suggest first testing to see if the issue is limited to a single user account. See this article for how -
Isolating an issue by using another user account
You may also want to try booting the computer into Safe Mode to see if the issue continues to occur. See this article -

  • Menu bar in Yosemite appears on both monitors

Mac Pro  w/ Yosemite and dual monitor display
The menu bar at the top of the screen appears on BOTH monitors ALL the time. However, the one on the secondary monitor is dimmed out, and can be two or three app switches behind. For example, awhile ago I worked in Illustrator, and the Illustrator menu bar is visible in the second monitor (but dimmed). On the main monitor I have been in several apps since, but currently it is showing Firefox. If I mouse click on that dimmed out menu it will go right to Illustrator - and the Illustrator menu will appear on BOTH monitors. It will remain this way until switching to another app which has palettes on the second monitor, so just now I went to InDesign, and now that menu bar is visible. Also visible are the usual items in the right part of the menu, such as the time.
Finally, but I think related. When in Adobe apps, with all the palettes located in the second monitor, when I click on something which should pop up more choices (anything in the character palette) - sometimes the pop-up will appear all the way across both screens, and on the main monitor. That is a ridiculous pain.
Other than that the system seems stable, and the apps do work. I did go back down to one desktop in spaces, but that seems to make no difference. Ideas ???
    Thanks, C

Can you explain the problem better?
So, you select a Menu, scroll down to an item that has a submenu and you click on it? Clicking isn’t necessary but anyway, what happens next?
If I select a menu item, then hover over a submenu’d item, the submenu pops out to the side and I select an item from that menu. What does yours do?

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
    Step 1
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your documents or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this behavior; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
    Step 2
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Please take this step regardless of the results of Step 1.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you turn on the computer, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled in OS X 10.9 or earlier, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of Steps 1 and 2.

  • Outlook menu bar only in Yosemite

I am running the latest Yosemite beta and latest preview of Outlook for Mac. Since installing the latest releases, I am not able to see the full Outlook program. All I can see on screen is the Outlook menu bar (not the ribbon, just the menu bar). I have tried all the usual stuff to make the app visible but to no avail. Anyone have a clue??
    Thanks for any help offered.

  • When using secondary screen, menu bar icons get repainted and flash [Yosemite Upgrade]

Yesterday I have upgraded to OS X Yosemite. I use OS X with secondary display. Each time I switch focus between primary and secondary display, all icons in menu bar get repainted (for a moment, system slows down and I can see two versions of the same icon - kind a slow-motion flash). It is noticeable and annoying.
    Have anyone experienced this issue?
I am running: MacBook Pro (13-inch, Mid 2010) with NVIDIA GeForce 320M 256 MB

I got the same problem. Actually the problem of multiple monitor is quite complicated, hope it will be fixed soon.

  • Yosemite Wi-Fi sign in menu bar is incorrect

    Hi All,
Since updating to Yosemite, the Wi-Fi display in the menu bar has been incorrect. I have connection, but the sign is greyed out with the '!' in the middle.
Restarting, login with different user or joining different network doesn't help. Interestingly, when the Mac is locked before entering my password, it is shown correctly....
    Thanks for your help!

Did you just update to iOS 4.3.4? I am having the same issue with my iPhone 3GS and iPad 2 after updating to the new iOS -- places in my house where I used to get full signal I now only get 2/3 or 1/3 signal strength (but my macbook continues to get full wifi signal strength).

  • Yosemite: menu bar reloading while multiple monitors

    Hello,
Running Yosemite in a Macbook Pro 15 Retina (Mid 2012) in multiple monitors, clicking in one monitor menu bar and then the other, the menu reloads.
Then, after the reload, I have to click again.
Please see video (you will see only one monitor but I am clicking in the other and then in this one, and you can see the top bar reloading):

Send Apple feedback. They won't answer, but at least will know there is a problem. If enough people send feedback, it may get the problem solved sooner.

  • Yosemite: Menu Bar bug?

    Hi,
I get the menu bar hidden suddenly, once I hover the cursor near it it get displayed then it disappear. Any idea how to fix this?
    Thanks.

Reinstalling OS X Without Erasing the Drive
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Reinstalling OS X Without Erasing the Drive
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the main menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility and press the Continue button. After Disk Utility loads select the Macintosh HD entry from the the left side list.  Click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If Disk Utility reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit Disk Utility and return to the main menu.
Reinstall OS X: Select Reinstall OS X and click on the Continue button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.
    Alternatively, see:
Reinstall OS X Without Erasing the Drive
Choose the version you have installed now:
OS X Yosemite- Reinstall OS X
OS X Mavericks- Reinstall OS X
OS X Mountain Lion- Reinstall OS X
OS X Lion- Reinstall Mac OS X

  • Remove CC icon from status menu bar OS X Yosemite

How do I remove the Creative Cloud icon from the status menu bar in OS X Yosemite?
Apple allows me to command+drag their icons as I wish, and I can also control them via System Preferences.
Am I wrong, or is Adobe insisting on forcing this icon on my desktop?
Shouldn't the user have the ability to control what is and isn't showing on their screen? I know where my apps are, and I want a clean menu bar.

    Hi Helpme2015,
I believe you have only trashed Adobe products from Applications. There is a slightly different procedure to remove Adobe products from MAC but since you have trashed the Applications already, we would have to follow the lengthy way around to remove the Adobe products now. Please follow the below mentioned steps and suggest.
    1)      Delete all the Adobe folders available within /Library/Application Support/
    2)      Delete all the Adobe folders available within /Library/preferences
    3)      Delete all the Adobe folders available within ~/Library/Application Support/
    4)      Delete all the Adobe folders available within ~/Library/Preferences/
    5)      Delete files and programs from within Application & Utilities .

  • In Yosemite, How do I change the background color of menu bar, dock and sidebar?

Right now my background for the Menu Bar, Dock, etc is RED.  I'd like to change it to something more subtle.
    Anyone know how?
Does it relate to the desktop picture I have?  or ???

You can change the background display color in the playback preferences, either black, white, or checkerboard. This does not change the output color. If you want to add a color to the video, you have to place a custom generator underneath your video and change the color in the inspector.

  • Can't move around 3rd party apps in menu bar with Yosemite

Hi - I have a Macbook Pro with Retina and I installed a few apps - pace, shazam, knock, flux and skip tunes. I wanted to edit the order of how they are displayed in the menu bar but I can't seem to be able to move them around (holding down the command key). However, this seems to be limited to the third party apps because I can move the native icons (bluetooth, battery, wireless) around just fine. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks so much!

I did the same this week. I did a sync and now I can't access any of my apps. They appear to open then shut right back down. Have tried to resync, update and about anything else that may fix and nothing. Paying an aweful lot of money just for texting and phone usage. Anyone know how to take care of this issue? I have a 3G phone and been using it for a year without this problem

Top menu bar is missing after upgrading to yosemite

The Library file  has been hidden for some time now. So not surprised you are confused upgrading from Snow leopard.
The easiest way to view this folder is to use the Go menu and press the alt key. This exposes the folder in the list.
    Hope this helps.
