Hi!
I try to access the PI /rep page: http://localhost:50000/rep .
By doing so I get the following error/warning:

Question:
Where can I find and download Java Web Start for Windows 65 bit?
Thank you very much!

Fully install Java Web Start on Wds !
Hi,
i'm using install Anywhere 5.0.5 !
I've just installed IA Based Installer with JVM on a new machine, installed fine. Runs fine.
I don't have java installed on this machine anywhere, so it used the internal one (VM pack downloaded on the macrovision web site).
The end user 'll need to use java web start, but when you click on the ...\jreBundled\javaws\javaws.exe : there is an error (installation not completed ...) ! so is there a way to make it works ?
I mean what are all the steps to install JWS (registry key, ...) ! Can i have a link or an exemple step by step ?
TksAnd your error may mean anything, the way I recall JWS. Like your app failed to install, because of an incorrect JNLP file.

Kindly help.....Hi,
I have the same problem, but I do have configured the webserver (Apache 2) correctly and the server is NOT returning a 404 error.
To check this I used the a tcp monitor (Apache Axis).
The error message in Java Webstart is identical to the one discribed above.
In the tcp monitor I see the following :

Error occurs when installing Java Web Start.
Before installing, I have installed j2sdk1.5.0 and j2ee1.4,all environment variable have been set correctly, and the javac and java commands can run correctly.
But when i install Java WS,It says it can't find the jre,ask me to install jre1.3.1,I have already installed two jre,so i don't want another.
Why? How can i resolve it?Where are you looking?
For 1.5.0_x on Windows it located in your Control Panel. Open the Java Control and then click the Settings button. Finally click the View Applications... button.
Or you can simply type javaws at a command prompt or from the Start->Run... Dialog -
Java Web Start Version 1.0 doesn't found installed JRE
I would like to try some demos from http://java.sun.com/products/javawebstart/demos.html
After I clicked on image receive next page with message "In order to launch the requested application, you will need to download Java Web Start Version 1.0 - This installation is a one-time process."
And after click "Download now" me propose download JSE and install.
But I already have installed JRE!
This is from command line java -version:
java version "1.6.0_03"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_03-b05)
Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 1.6.0_03-b05, mixed mode)
I have try from opera and firefox.set JAVA_HOME to jdk and not jre.JAVA_HOME is for other applications to find the java libraries inside jdk
Example:
JAVA_HOME=C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.5.0_05 -
Unable to launch java web start
We have already devloped an application based on java web start. Most of the client machines, we try to install java web start and run the developed app, it works fine. For one of the clients machine, we have an issue with java web start itself, it does not startup and bring up the application manager. When you start java web start, it shows up the splash screen 'java web start 1.0.1' after some time, it vanishes and does not bring up the application manager. I have installed java web start 1.0.1_01 (build 04) installed on Windows 2000 Professional, by default that has installed JRE 1.3.1_04 also.
We verified the system, all the files being existing under c:\program files\java web start dir. And the JRE is also installed fine.
Couple of times we uninstalled, rebooted and installed.
Infact, we have even verified the file types for html, htm, which was set to msoffice, and we have changed to internet explorer. For jnlp file type it was already set to javaws.exe.
Can you please let me know what could be the problem.
Regards,
Nagarjuna Rao ChakkaThere's nothing to stop you installing 1.4 or even 1.4.2, it's the jnlp file that specifies which runtime version gets used to run your application - web start can be used to happily switch runtimes like this. You'll just need to have 1.4 and 1.3 installed on each machine. It's a good idea to upgrade the web start client as the old 1.0 version doesn't work at all well with Windows XP, it's structure of storing all the files in c:\program files works against the security restrictions built into XP.
Incidentally the config file you were looking for in under c:\program files\javaws\javaws.cfg, but this is different in later versions.
Your problem is most likely being caused by web start not being able to find the Java runtime version it was installed with, the client may well have installed a newer (or older) version of 1.3 which has broken the configuration.. another reason to upgrade is the old versions are very fragile in this respect; 1.4.2 can find installed runtimes far more dynamically. Fixing the config file above should get things working again, otherwise delete the .javaws directory in the user profile and re-start web start.
1.4.2 is the best at finding runtimes, but is marred by problems with the integration dialogs, locale always reported as en_US and some strange new behaviour with classloaders and malfunctioning auto installers.. jws 1.2 that comes with jre 1.4.1_x is far more reliable.

I am new to Java. I am attempting to access a Cisco Device and the Launcher advises I need to download Java Web Start. I believe the latest updates I have are for 1.7.0_07. I am not positive because I have not attempted to connect to the device for a while and I believe I was able to get in the last time I tried from this pc.
I am able to get to the device off of an older pc that I have not updated in a while - it is running IBM Java Web Start v1.2. What are suggestions to remedy this? Thank you for your time. What browser do you use (platform/architecture)?
What java.com reports when you test for java installed?
Can you launch any other webstart app from the same browser?

Java web start running on windows NT4 work station
I have installed java web start on a windows NT4 work station (service pack 6) with a directx v5. I successfuly launch the sun applications such as swing set 2, but I have some troubles concerning our software which used another look and feel than the default one. A system error is raised saying that the library ddraw.dll could not be loaded.
I have unistalled and re-installed directx v5 but the error is still raised.
Does any one can help me to solve this problem ?.
Thank you.Hello Sim085
thanks for your reply.
Perhaps it would be easier for us to continue the programming with any kind of VisualStudio Produkt ;-), although we dont't had to think about OOP yet!
Because of our new Network-Technology (Terminal-Server) we have to discuss serveral possibilities.
I've read about JSP and ASP.NET, and I want to know if JSP or any kind of JAVA Program will run on a Terminal-Server.
Are there any special aspects I have to know when running JSP on a terminal server from Microsoft? Is it better to program applications in JAVA or in JSP? ...
Thanks

Java Web Start doesn't start (Windows XP)
Hi,
I've installed Java Web Start on a Windows XP machine. When I try to run an application or I try to open Java Web Start directly the "Java Web Start" splash screen appears for a few seconds and than disappears and nothing else happens.
I heard that other people using Windows XP have the same problem. Can anyone help?
Java Runtime is 1.4.0, but I also tried some other runtimes as well with the same result.
Thanks in advance
MarkusHi,
I found some stuff, but it didn't work for me. Maybe you can give it a try.
1. Deactivate Proxy
Add or edit javaws.cfg.proxy.setting=NONE in the javaws.cfg file.
2. Deactivate Splashscreen
Add option "-Xnosplash" in the Windows registry for the .JNLP ending, i.e. "C:\Program Files\Java Web Start\javaws.exe" "-Xnosplash" "%1"
3. Run with Java VM
I created a .BAT file:
SET JWS=C:/Programme/Java Web Start
java -cp "%JWS%/javaws.jar" "-Djnlpx.home=%JWS%" com.sun.javaws.Main %1
To run Java Web Start simply run the .BAT file. To run a specific application run the .BAT file with the complete URL of the .JNLP file.
If this works for you, please drop a note here! Thanks!
Bye

J2SE 1.4 Release Candidate & Java Web Start
Hi:
We installed the J2SE 1.4 Release Candidate and our Java Web Start applications which previously worked now won't run. Upon their launch, there is the following error message :
Error Code 11 (11 Could not locate requested version) returned from server when accessing resource (http://java.sun.com/products/autodl/j2se, 1.4.0-rc)
Does anyone know why this is?
All replies are greatly appreciated!
Sincerely,
MonaHi:
I tried what you suggested in the jnlp file:
<j2se version="1.4 1.4.0-rc" href="http://java.sun.com/products/autodl/j2se"/>
and I am still getting the error:
The application has requested a version of the Java 2 platform (JRE) that is curently not locally installed. java Web Start was unable to automatically download and install the requested version. The JRE version must be installed manually.

>>>Data Flow Editor,
I think this fields are enabled if you are change mode. I believe you might be in display mode. Click on the change button in mapping and check if those buttons are enabled or not.
If the above doesnt help let us know ur SP level?

How can I open help file (HTML or .chm) from Java Web Start (new to JAVA)
Hi All,
Im trying to open the help file of my application.
When trying to access the help file from the GUI (pressing F1 for launching the help file), I'm geting the an error, something like:
"Can't show help URL: jar:file:C:\Documents and Settings\%USER%\Application Data\Sun\Java\Deployment\javaws\cache\http\Dlocalhost\P7001\DMwebstart\RMjar-name!/com/resources/helpFiles/MyHelpFile.html"
It seems that the file which is packed in a jar, was downloaded to the Java Web Start cache directory:
C:\Documents and Settings\%USER%\Application Data\Sun\Java\Deployment\javaws\cache\http\Dlocalhost\P7001\DMwebstart
The code which is activated when launching the help file is:
try
ResourceBundle resourceBundle = DoubleResourceBundle.getBundle("Resource", "ResourceImpl");
RuntimeUtil.launchFile(new File(resourceBundle.getString("help.file")));
} catch (IOException e)
// TODO Auto-generated catch block
e.printStackTrace();
}where the property "help.file" is in some property file in the resource bundle named "Resource", and looks like this :
help.file="com/trax/docs/help/global/MyHelpFile.html"
The function "RuntimeUtil.launchFile" knows how to launch any file in its default application, and indeed it does launches the html, when giving it an absolute path to the file on my PC, as "C:\Helpfiles\MyHelpFile.html" as such:
RuntimeUtil.launchFile("C:\Helpfiles\MyHelpFile.html");My question is :
The application is going to be deployed on a Customer PC. How can I access the html file from the code, with a relative path and not its absolute path on the customer pc, which I can't know?
I found these restrictions regarding web start:
(copied from "http://rachel.sourceforge.net/"):
*Rule 1: Java Archives only. No loose files.* All your resources have to be packaged in Java Archives (jar) if you want to have
them delivered to the user's machine and kept up-to-date automatically by Java Web Start.
*Rule 2: No file paths.* You can't use absolute or relative file paths to locate your
jars holding your resources (e.g. <code>jar:file:///c:/java/jws/.cache/resources.jar</code>).
Absolute file paths won't work because you never know where Java Web Start
will put your jar on the user's machine. Relative file paths won't work because Java Web Start
mangles the names of your jars (e.g. <code>venus.jar</code> becomes <code>RMvenus.jar</code>)
and every JNLP client implementation has the right to mangle your names
in a different way and you, therefore, can't predict the name with
which your jar will be rechristend and end up on the user's machine in
the application cache.Seems complex or impossible, to perform a simple task like opening a file.
Please advise (I'm new to Java and Web Start).
BTW, I'm working with IntelliJ IDEA 5.0.
Thanks,
Zedik.

Java Web Start internationalization
Hello all!
Does anybody know how to display standard Web start dialogs in national languages (not in English)? Is it possible at all?
At least dialogs that appear during application loading (messages such as "Checking for latest version", "Downloading XXX.jar from XXX host" etc).
We use Java 1.5.1, and our customers are located in CIS (Russia, Belarus, Ukraine).
Thanks in advance for any information on the topic.Java Web Start currently by default supports en,de,es,fr,it,ja,ko,sv,zh locale.
If you want to localize java web start in other locale, you should contact Sun. -
Every few minutes the message comes up on my screen. To view this web content, you need to install the Java Runtime Environment. Is the new iOS running with java. if not how do i stop messages?
Troubleshooting:
I have since unchecked the option Enable Java content on the browser in System Preferences > Java > Security - I will report back if the prompt still reappears, but I think it should be gone now.
Follow up:
I have since sent a feedback to Apple and I recommend you guys send it too, more people reporting will get Apple's attention on the issue.
Issue:
For me, this issue started after updating to Yosemite, I keep getting a prompt window on Chrome 38.0.2125.122 with a message "To view this web content you need to install the Java Runtime Environment, but I do have Java installed."
Hardware/Software:
Macbook Air Mid 2013 1.3Ghz 8GB RAM 120GB SSD / Mac OS X Yosemite 10.10 -
so I've just downloaded and installed OS X 10.10 YOSEMITE on my mac this morning and I find the design refreshing, however when I do a reboot of my mac this popup message always shows up: To view this web content, you need to install the Java Runtime Environment. here's a screen shot of it
it is really annoying, and quite bothering on my part. I tried clicking the "more info..." tab as instructed by the popup/ notification, which led me to the webpage of java, and this is a screenshot of what I got
so I've downloaded the .dmg file of the Java 8 update and installed it on my computer, did a check on my safari browser settings to see if the Java plugin is activated and, it is. Hoping that that the trick I rebooted my mac again and voila! the same popup appears again. I hope you could help me on this one guys, any suggestions for a quick fix would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
Here are the specs of my mac:This is a user forum. Apple probably monitor it but they are not on here answering questions.
Not sure what you mean about the hidden information-i mean cheese how much info is 'gleaned' across the net and its nothing to do with the OS and don't get me started on the behaviour of some OSs!. You can set your machine to not give feedback to Apple.
Not sure what does not convince you in what Casey Rey said-its a fact there is a download. Download it don't download it ,what is you want Apple to explain? They made a decision not put JRE on OS X by default -i think there might be some licensing thing about it with Oracle going on. If you need it you need it if you don't you don't. Its like saying you wont install MS Office unless they explain why thats not on the machine by default.
Who sold you the machine with the faulty screen? Apple on line? The Apple store? An Apple Dealer? How long have you had it? If i buy a Ferrari with a dent in the door and i knew it had a dent in the door it would be funny to say 'when this Ferrari breaks i am switching back to Porsche because they don't have dents in the door'
