Youtube homepage causes browsers to hang (safari&firefox)
hey everyone, the youtube homepage (but not direct links to videos) and other sites (eventhubs.com) cause all of my browsers (which are updated to most recent release) to hang and pinwheel.
i don't get a crash report because they don't crash, just hang. i tried updating the browsers and reinstalling flash but it didn't help.
any suggestions?
thank you

_*There are no Mac OS X viruses.*_
Delete your browsers history & cache. Boot up from your install DVD and run *"Repair Disk"* from the Utility menu.
If that does not work.......................
Empty the trash!
Open up your application folder & go through all your apps. Trash all the apps you no longer want and/or use.
An easier way to do this is to open the Application folder in list view & press the Command+j keys.
In the the dialog that appears, click the "This Window Only" button & the "Calculate All Sizes" check box.
Wait a bit until your file & folder sizes have all been calculated, then click the "Size" column to sort your apps from the fattest to the most anorexic.
Get rid of all your photo files you don't want and/or need. Same goes for those pics off the websites you downloaded (gifs, jpegs, etc.).
Get rid of all your music files you no longer listen too. Especially, if you already have the actual CD/DVDs or you can later redownload from a website.
Use Spotlight to make sure you got rid of everything. You can even trash directly from Spotlight!
Drag what you don't want and/or need to the trash. Better yet, download this neat little shareware app demo called AppZapper. It basically does all the work for you by not only trashing the apps but the apps preference files, caches & all its associated files.
Another software that does the above is AppDelete. Best of all this software is free!
Burn what you want and/or need onto CDs or DVDs.
Not everyone has the luxury of purchasing an external HD and/or Mobile accounts to store their "stuff.”
You can check with your ISP to see if they offer free storage space. Most if not all do now-a-days.
There are thousands if not millions of free storage facilities on the web also. Use your favorite search engine to search them out as they come in different storage sizes to fit your needs & wants.
Check for duplicate fonts.
Applications>Font Book
Select “All Fonts”
If you see any “black dots” next to any fonts this mean you have duplicates and/or multiple versions of these fonts.
To clean this up, select a “black dotted” font or the Apple + click to select multiple dotted fonts;
Edit>Resolve>Duplicates.
What the above does is turns off the duplicates & multiple version fonts. Not delete them.
More than likely the “extras” were installed by other programs and/or other users.
Clear out font caches
Use FontNuke. It does all the work for you. And, best of all it’s FREE.
Printer Drivers
Get rid of all the printer drivers you don’t need & use except the ones for your current printer(s)/scanner(s).
HD>Library>Printers Folder
If you accidently threw something out that you needed for your printer/scanner it can be easily obtained from the manufacturer’s website and/or from the CD that came w/the printer/scanner.
Garage Band
Has about 1GB of loops stored. Get rid of some some them. You surely don’t use, like and/or need them all.
HD>Library>Audio/Apple Loops>Apple>Apple Loops For GarageBand
Or just get rid of the Garage Band app altogether if you don’t use it.
Get rid of extra languages
Strip your computer down to your “native” tongue.
You can do this with a FREE utility called Monolingual. Another app that apparently does all the work for you. I’ve never used it. However, a lot of users here swear by & recommend it highly.
However, there is a warning for *native English speakers*. Make sure you keep BOTH English and English (United States).

Rule of thumb: You should never let your hard drive get to where you have only 10-15% of space left.

Check out User Tips: Viruses, Trojan Detection and Removal
Viruses:
Are programs that earn their name by their ability to replicate themselves locally & often across a network. Many attach themselves to to other programs. When you launch one of these programs, the virus code launches as well & the virus goes about its nefarious business.
Viruses are exceedingly rare on the Mac. There are no known viruses for OSX.
Trojans:
Promises one thing but delivers another. You can download a program but when you run the program, the contents of your computer are instead beamed to an underground data center in Kamchatka. If you obtain software from reliable sites, you are unlikely to get a Trojan horse.
Adware:
Has an embedded advertising component - one that displays or downloads ads when you run the software. Some adware is legitimate, part of the price of using a free program such as the Iconfactory's Twitterrific or Eudora for example.
Spyware:
Grabs data from your computer & ofen uses it for the purposes of evil, sending personal info to a baddie or when you're using your web browser, redirecting you to site you don't want to visit.
Mac users have nothing to worry about regarding Spyware & Adware because in order for the worse forms to work, the OS must allow unrestricted access to its more sensitive parts. The Mac OS doesn't.

YouTube embedded video shows blank in Safari firefox says file not found
Dear all,
I have embedded YouTube and Vimeo videos in a website in adobe dreamweaver 5.5, MacOS 10.7.5. They show blank in Safari, and firefox says (translated from German): "File not found. The files under (embed code) could not be found." My slightly older embeddings (also "i frame") in the same website work fine though.
I have updated today Safari, Flash Player, and Java; reset both browsers, nothing changed.
Have spent ours googling this already, no help.
Thanks for helping.

YouTube HD uploading problem with QT/Safari/Firefox...
I've upgraded to Snow Leopard and now Safari and Firefox refuse to upload to YouTube- so I resorted to using Quicktime X, which worked... BUT... the movie was an HD file exported from Final Cut, and didn't upload to YouTube in HD. The only way I have been able to upload the HD version was to go via Windows under VMWare...
Surely there must be an easier way? And why does Quicktime X downconvert as it uploads?For E-Bay you might try the following:
Type the following command in Terminal (while Safari is NOT running):
defaults write com.apple.Safari IncludeDebugMenu 1
Then launch Safari, and you will be able to use the new Debug menu.
If you ever wish to disable it again, just repeat the command with a "0" instead of a "1".
Under the Debug menu, you'll see the User Agent sub-menu; select Windows MSIE 6.0 from the list and then try connecting to your web site
Dreamweaver you might need to update your version.
To Dreamweaver 8.01

I have a php module which runs fine in Firefox and all other browsers but not Safari. It always run twice - I see a small ? in upper right corner which is causing it to run twice but NO idea why? I read it MAY have something to do with am image it cannot load but I see them all loaded. Help - thank you
Could you share a link to the page?
Seeing it in context and in our browsers is much easier to debug.
If not, make sure to run the validator here The W3C Markup Validation Service and clear out any problems. HTML errors, especially structural ones, will cause all kinds of display problems in various browsers/versions/platforms. -
Non-Apple browsers cause cascading system hang with clean install of Lion
It started with Google Chrome. After a few hours of use, Chrome would randomly lock up one renderer at a time until it was completely unresponsive. Console showed nothing conclusive in the logs, and would soon lock up itself. Logged-in Terminal windows could sometimes get as far as a "ps auxc", but would lock up during the command output, and new Terminal windows or tabs would never get past login. The SSH daemon would be dead in the water, preventing me from logging in remotely. Any existing SSH connections would hang on the first command. Activity Monitor would lock up the moment I tried to sample a process or interact with anything. Interacting with SystemUIServer (pulling down the menu for the clock or trying to do a Spotlight search) would cause SystemUIServer to hang. Same with the Dock. My mouse was like the Midas of software failure: everything I touched turned to hang. Eventually I'd be staring at a spinning beachball. After a few (five to ten) minutes, it might perform a couple queued events (opening a window, switching to another application) but would usually become wedged again immediately, forcing me to hard restart.
I then tried installing Firefox 5, and discovered that it causes the hang fairly reliably within the first ten seconds. Since I knew when it was about to happen, I managed to capture a few stack traces in Activity Monitor, but it was always different, and always somewhere in the kernel (usually file-system related: __getattrlist while scanning fonts one time, the open system call another).
Safari, on the other hand, works great.
I've tried performing a verification of my startup disk, which returns no errors, so although I'm not ruling out hardware failure at this point the problem started immediately after I upgraded to Lion, and persisted even after I wiped my hard drive completely and performed a clean install from the recovery partition. It also doesn't seem to be completely the fault of either Chrome or Firefox, since they're different browsers with different rendering engines using different system frameworks. They do both perform a lot of file I/O, so maybe that's a clue. Another possible lead is the seemingly random errors Console will spew out while the hang is occuring. Most recently I've gotten a screenful of '--ImageKit Error: updateGLTextureWithBitmapData: glPixelStorei returned an error : 506 ...', and before that it was 'Google Chrome Helper: CGSLookupServerRootPort: Failed to look up the port for "com.apple.windowserver.active" (1100)', "kernel: IOSurface: buffer allocation size is zero". Console spew being what it is, though, I don't know if any of that is relevant.
I figure I would be seeing quite a lot of angry forum threads if Chrome and Firefox were completely unusable on other people's machines, so I'm guessing there's something specific to my configuration happening here. With a clean install, though, I'm not sure what it could be. Here are detailed system specs:
24" iMac (Early 2008 -- just out of AppleCare coverage, figures) , 2.8 GHz, 2GB RAM, running Lion build 11A511 (which should be the 10.7 release version).
I would be massively indebted to anyone who has experienced or heard about this issue before and can give me something else to try.Zeroing the disk serves no purpose in this situation. It is a common misconception that this is required to map out bad blocks on the drive, but the fact is that 1) modern hard drives map out bad blocks as part of everyday operation, and 2) zeroing the drive involves simply writing zeros with no checks to see if the zero was written successfully, so it wouldn't know if a block was bad anyway.
It's possible the drive is starting to go bad, although then there should be some problems with SL as well. I would recommend repartitioning the drive with Disk Utility. Make sure it's got one partition, using the GUID partition map scheme, and format that partition as Mac OS Extended (Journaled). Repartitioning should get rid of any gremlins lurking on the disk, unless the physical disk itself is dying. And after repartitioning, install straight from the flash drive, as Shootist recommends, rather than installing SL first.
Hardware could be an issue. It's entirely possible for an older system to work fine on slightly faulty hardware while a newer system does not. Running Apple Hardware Test wouldn't be a bad idea.
Firmware updates wouldn't be a bad idea. However, note that my mid-2010 MBP with the same specs is running Lion just fine, and I've never installed any firmware updates. (Firmware updates scare me... if my machine is running just fine, I'm reluctant to risk installing new firmware. But that's probably just a bit of paranoia talking. ) -
Safari & Firefox Hanging (again)
About a month ago, after a Safari update I believe, both Safari & Firefox kept hanging (spinning ball of doom) especially on Facebook & MySpace, but other sites too. After some advice from this forum I altered Safari so that it ran in 32-bit mode instead of 64. That sorted out the problem...
...until last night, when the hanging started again. Has there been another Safari update? Anyone else getting this again? Any advice on what to do to stop the hanging? This is getting annoying.
thanx
Chris.I've had this problem for over a year now. I tried changing DNS servers in the System Preferences: Network: Ethernet/TCP-IP settings, and that seemed to help, but it still happens. Basically if I go to some sites on the web, Safari or Firefox will not show them. If I run over across the room to a different computer (Mac or Windows) I can see the websites on those browsers, no problem.
It's enough to make me doubt whether I can go ANYWHERE in Safari.
I've tried to talk to Verizon about this, but they don't like to talk about Macs, and generally want me to connect the Mac directly to their DSL box, which is time consuming and is not really going to help. It's something specific to my Mac, unfortunately. Heck, though, it's a G5, so probably time to get s new one, that was a nice four years! -
Safari causing full-system hang
For a while now I've been getting the SBOD irregularly in Safari, since 3.x if I remember right. I've got some time off work at the minute so I'm finally looking into this properly, and here's what I've found:
There seems to be two separate conditions. The first happens on loading some, but not all web pages, causes a lengthy hang in which the entire system (even invoking Dashboard or Spaces) becomes unresponsive. In the console this accompanied by an entry similar to the following:
05/10/2010 08:15:47 /Applications/Safari.app/Contents/MacOS/Safari[242] ATS AutoActivation: Query timed out. (elapsed 5.0 seconds. params: queryString = {comapple_ats_namepostscript == "Helvetica-Neue" && kMDItemContentTypeTree != com.adobe.postscript-lwfn-font}, valueListAttrs = {<CFArray 0x6f5710 [0xa008dee0]>{type = immutable, count = 1, values = (
0 : <CFString 0xa01602c8 [0xa008dee0]>{contents = "kMDItemContentType"}
)}}, sortingAttrs = {<CFArray 0x6f5730 [0xa008dee0]>{type = immutable, count = 1, values = (
0 : <CFString 0xa01603a8 [0xa008dee0]>{contents = "kMDItemContentModificationDate"}
)}}, scopeList = {<CFArray 0x6f5750 [0xa008dee0]>{type = immutable, count = 1, values = (
0 : <CFString 0xa0161a98 [0xa008dee0]>{contents = "kMDQueryScopeComputer"}
(sometimes it names a font, sometimes the font name is "_")
I suspect this means some vestigial adobe product has messed my system right up. I used to use CS4 but have long since removed it. I also have Air and Flash (the current gala beta) installed. I have had fontbook validate Helvetica Neue and check all fonts for duplicates - if external disks are plugged in at this time they all spin up.
The other case is when downloading a file through clicking a link or alt-clicking a link (right-clicking a picture and saving it to the downloads folder does not cause this behaviour), and is accompanied by this much sparser line in the console:
05/10/2010 08:25:06 kernel disk0s2: I/O error.
The files themselves can be opened, moved and copied without incident and at regular speeds, so I doubt disk corruption. I've also performed a few full clone/restores on my boot disk with no effect. My initial thoughts were to blame a long-forgotten folder action that sorted downloads into different places (including a network share, if present), but disabling folder actions has not helped.
So, any ideas? I'm fresh out.A workaround for the font-problem seems to be to turn off ATS - it's in FontBook.
The second issue still eludes me.
Things I have tried:
Trashing ~/Library/Safari/
Trashing ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.Safari*
Cleaning out every vestigial trace of anything suspect I had on my system (google keystone, logitech control centre, SIMBL, The Spark, iStat Menus, folder actions)
Interestingly, the issue is not present for the guest user, so it IS something wrong with my user account. I just can't figure out what.
Yes, making a brand new account would fix all this, providing I'm meticulous about testing the issue as I move /Users/Old/ into /Users/New/, but I'm kind of loathe to give up. It's surely something really simple! -
Add-ons for Safari & Firefox to enable YouTube
I just re-installed Safari & Firefox new & "clean" with 10.8 :
question: I see that I can not view 99% of the videos on YouTube - obvioulsy I need an add-on or plugin or extension, java or flash or something (I'm never sure exactly what those words mean).
Can anyone tell me what I need - for Safari & Firefox - and where to get it?
Thanks!
wHey! It was flash, I think - found something that led me to it!

Using get_AJAX_SELECT_XML causes form to "hang" in IE but notin FIREFOX
I have 2 fields on a form that are coordinated to make use of the javascript call of get_AJAX_SELECT_XML,
P118_CLONE_DEPT
P118_CLONE_POS
The HTML form element attributes for P118_CLONE_DEPT are:
onchange="get_AJAX_SELECT_XML(this,'P118_CLONE_POS')"
The LOV is supposed to be automatically populated for P118_CLONE_POS once you select a department for P118_CLONE_DEPT.
The code hangs in IE at the same place, but never hangs in Firefox. If you let the browser sit, control seems to eventually come back, but it may take 5 to 6 minutes - most users would bail out well before 5 minutes have elapsed. I have no clue what is causing this.
This is triggered by picking a deparment that has 9 positions, then a deparment that has 0 positions and then repeating it all over again. ie.
dept 854 with 9 positions
dept 857 with 0 positions
dept 854 with 9 positions
dept 857 with 0 positions
Here is the function with alerts:
function get_AJAX_SELECT_XML(pThis,pSelect){
var l_Return = null;
var l_Select = html_GetElement(pSelect);
alert('1in get_AJAX_SELECT_XML value of item is ('+ pThis.value + ')' );
var get = new
htmldb_Get(null,html_GetElement('pFlowId').value,'APPLICATION_PROCESS=clone_Select_XML',0);
alert('2in get_AJAX_SELECT_XML value of item is ('+ pThis.value + ')' );
get.add('TEMP_POS_TYPE_CD_DEPT',pThis.value);
alert('3in get_AJAX_SELECT_XML value of item is ('+ pThis.value + ')' );
//alert('2 in get_AJAX_SELECT_XML value of item is ('+ pThis.value + ')' );
gReturn = get.get('XML');
alert('4in get_AJAX_SELECT_XML value of item is ('+ pThis.value + ')' );
if(gReturn && l_Select){
var l_Count = gReturn.getElementsByTagName("option").length;
alert('5in get_AJAX_SELECT_XML l_Count is' + l_Count );
l_Select.length = 0;
alert('6in get_AJAX_SELECT_XML l_Count is' + l_Count );
for(var i=0;i<l_Count;i++){
alert('7in get_AJAX_SELECT_XML i is' + i );
var l_Opt_Xml = gReturn.getElementsByTagName("option");
alert('8in get_AJAX_SELECT_XML about to call appendToSelect');
appendToSelect(l_Select, l_Opt_Xml.getAttribute('value'), l_Opt_Xml.firstChild.nodeValue)
alert('8in get_AJAX_SELECT_XML i is' + i );
alert('9in get_AJAX_SELECT_XML i is' + i );
get = null;
alert('10in get_AJAX_SELECT_XML i is' + i );
It hangs just after alert # 3 is displayed on the screen. Does this mean the call " gReturn = get.get('XML');" is taking a while to process? Is it my browser? Once control is returned, the position LOV is filled in correctly.To put an example here would not allow you to debug the problem because I can't replicate the table that the query goes against. The table I use has 160 different departments that have 1 or more positions.
Instead I have altered your code and page 37 and got the "hanging" to occur. I have altered the process "get_AJAX_SELECT_XML" to be,
declare
l_cnt number;
l_o_name varchar2(2000);
begin
owa_util.mime_header('text/xml', FALSE );
htp.p('Cache-Control: no-cache');
htp.p('Pragma: no-cache');
owa_util.http_header_close;
l_cnt := 0;
htp.prn('<select>');
for rec in (
select distinct position
from position
where position_type_cd = substr(:TEMP_POS_TYPE_CD_DEPT,7,1) and
department_cd = substr(:TEMP_POS_TYPE_CD_DEPT,1,6) and
position_status_cd = 'A'
loop
l_cnt := l_cnt + 1;
htp.prn('<option value="' || rec.position || '">' || rec.position || '</option>');
end loop;
if l_cnt = 0 then
htp.prn('<option value="' || '-'|| '">' || '-' || '</option>');
end if;
htp.prn('</select>');
end;
From above, I have added some code to detect when no positions are found, but including it or not still yields the same "hang" results. The field "TEMP_POS_TYPE_CD_DEPT" is a string with department and department-type concatenated ie. 0021XXP
On page 37, I have left it alone. The item P37_ITEM_SELECT is fired on the "Element region" through the element attributes of
onchange="get_AJAX_SELECT_XML(this,'P37_SELECT_DROP_XML').
Its "List of values definition" is:
select department_cd || ' - ' || department "disp", department_cd || 'P' "rval"
from department order by 2
To get the "hanging" on page 37 is a little tricker. I go to a department with positions in the LOV for P37_ITEM_SELECT that is near the end of the list and select it. I then go off to other screens that I have open (ie, go to note-pad and type some text, go to MS outlook and check mail). When I come back to the screen with page 37 and just hit the "up-arrow" key to go to a department with positions, that is when the hanging occurs. ie
1. go to dept 0854 (has 9 positions)
2. go to dept 0857 (has 0 positions) via a "down-arrow" key
3. switch tasks for about a minute ie. notepad, outlook. This is the tricky part,
as step 4 may or may not work, but after 3 tests in a row I have got it to work.
4. go to dept 0854 via the "up-arrow" and get "hanging" behaviour
In the LOV for P37_ITEM_SELECT, the last 4 depts shown are:
0854, 9 positions
0857, 0 positions
0862, 2 positions
0873, 0 positions

Browsers(Safari, FireFox, IE) show blank screen
Folks,
It would be great if you can help solve this problem.
I am using a 12" PowerBook running OSX 10.3.9, and using Safari to login to a web page for the pass month without any problems. However, since yesterday Safari shows a blank white screen after I have signed in. I have tried using the Admin account and my personal account with Safari, FireFox, and IE to access to that page, and they all produced blank white screens as well. I have installed Flash media player version 9 a few days ago, but am not sure if that was the culprit.
I went to a Mac store and was able to login using all the Macs that I have tried, so the problem shouldn't be on the web site.
The following is the source file when the blank page was shown:

12" PowerBook Mac OS X (10.3.9)Obviously I don't have copies of your external JavaScript or VB scripts, so if the problem lies in those files, then the following may not apply.
When I tried to load your source code in Safari v2.0.3, it reported:
TypeError - Object (result of expression MM_FlashUserDemurred) does not allow calls.
Generally what this means is that the object/function MM_FlashUserDemurred cannot be found.
Double check those script files to ensure that the function is in one of them. If it is in some other external script file, then you may need to add a link to load that file too.
Who knows? Perhaps flash was already pre-configured on those Macs at the mac Store and such a function is preloaded.
Best of luck,

Embedded movies, Safari/Firefox freezes, then all hangs
Note: This post was moved from 'It's not just Safari, It's Firefox too... Crashing Tiger'
I have the same problem -- although it is linked directly to embedded quicktime movies. Almost every time I go to a page with an embedded movie, Safari / Firefox freezes, taking the rest of the os along with it (finder, other open apps) Unplugging the ethernet doesn't help. Checked the Safari crash log and it doesnt seem to be recording these crashes.Sounds like lookupd is hanging and taking the OS with it...
If this is happening when surfing to sites with links to "js.adsonar.com", like FoxNews.com and others, here's a fix:

Internet Browsers Constantly Fail- Safari and Firefox
About a month ago, my computer started randomly quitting out of Safari while I was viewing webpages. They weren't games, videos, anything like that, just news sites or primarily text pages. It would happen about once an hour, maybe twice an hour. After about a week, I got frustrated and installed firefox. For three weeks, I had no problems. Now, in the last four days, it has started doing this again with firefox. I tried using Safari, and had the same problem. I've run all the software updates, and nothing else seems to be having problems. Unfortunately, firefox quits much more frequently, up to 10 times in an hour, making it very hard to get anything done. Please help!
Hi Katie0086,
Click on your HD > and on Finder menu click File > Get Info or select your HD and press apple and I simultaniously.
It will open new window about your HD and check on capacity and available.
Try third party utilities to repair your permission and optimize your HD, like Onyx and macHelpMate:
http://www.titanium.free.fr/pgs/english.html
http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/systemdiskutilities/machelpmate.html
Try to update your Safari, Firefox or Camino to the latest version, and install their recommended plugins.
Good Luck. -
10.6.2 Causing Browsers to Freeze on Pages w/Flash?
Every time I navigate to a page that has Flash elements into it (e.g. YouTube), Safari hangs and my computer beach balls. I can't view any pages with Flash elements in them (or at least pages that have multiple Flash elements) without Safari freezing and causing me to kill Safari through Force Quit.
To try to fix this problem, I reset Safari (resetting every available option), repaired permissions, restarted, and nothing worked. Then I used the Flash uninstaller from Adobe's website to uninstall Flash, then reinstall a fresh copy which did not work.
I reinstalled Snow Leopard, updated all of my system's software, and then tried to view YouTube.com and the same problem still occurred.
Now I originally thought that the Safari 4.0.4 update caused the problem. However - after I reinstalled Snow Leopard and updated to 10.6.2, I downloaded to Camino to see if YouTube would work, but to my surprise it didn't. The same exact problem I'm having with Safari (entire browser freezing when viewing a page with Flash such as YouTube) is also happening with a 3rd-party browser (Camino).
This leads me to believe that 10.6.2 may be the source of the problem (as I never had this problem with 10.6.1), not the 4.0.4. Any ideas on how to correct this problem? I cannot go on websites with Flash elements in them, even with a 3rd-party browser.My Flash problem isn't crashing my browsers -- at least not on the sites I'm visiting -- but I believe I've got the same problem and it has resisted all fixes. I did my first upgrade via Software Update, but I've used the combo installer twice now. I've reset the PRAM multiple times. I've repaired permissions over and over. I've uninstalled and reinstalled Flash player, even tried reverting to Player 9.
No matter what, Flash won't work properly. The problem appears to be in the settings, and may be limited to a failure to permit 3rd-party Flash loads. However, I cannot change my settings. At first, I could at least change local settings via right-clicking on an embedded Flash. That's no longer true; I get the popup window, but no clicks work -- I can't even cancel out.
Meanwhile, the settings panel on the Adobe site hasn't worked since I upgraded my OS to 10.6.2 and Safari to 4.0.4. All checkboxes show up as blank, and most don't change when I click on them. I can move the slider on the amount of data that can be stored on my computer, but neither that no any other settings stick -- just switching tabs and returning shows settings reverted to the default. And no matter what I've done, the settings panels for sites I've already visited shows nothing in its list -- it is not registering any of my previous visits.
This problem affects both Safari and Firefox. However, I also noted that if I try uninstalling Flash while those browers are open, I will be reminded to close Firefox ... but Safari doesn't show up as being active.
Sounds to me like something in either 10.6.2 or Safari 4.0.4 is blocking some component of Flash. -
Aspx websites error in Safari Firefox + Chrome website load error
Garnierusa.com doesnt load at all on all my 3 browsers, Safari, Firefox and chrome..
i made some screenshoots, can someone tell me what this can be?
i uninstalled all flash versions and re-installed them, no change whatsoever.
if this is java, i have not found an uninstaller or a reasonable explanation how to totally uninstall Java anyway, without using dangerous Terminal app.
here the screenshots...its incredibly frustrating :Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, or by corruption of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. Note: If FileVault is enabled on some models, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain iMacs. The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin. Test while in safe mode. Same problem? After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.
