Youview retail box and BT infinity questions

I'm about to have BT infinity installed (internet and phone only) 21st Feb, will my retail Youview box update to the BT software ?.
Will the BT sports app be in the demand player section? Will I get BT player ? Will I get any free IPTV channels ?
Solved!
Go to Solution.

You can only receive the BT sport tv channels on Youview with a BT TV subscription.
Current pricing and conditions of the BT TV subscription offers mean that for most people taking up the BT supplied box service is the most cost effective way of getting the service on Youview. Your existing box can be used as a second box .
Your (retail) box will  still have the retail firmware supplied by the manufacturer (Humax). You will get a different ISP profile because you are changing internet provider - the current Humax (retail) software is compatible with the ISP channels and BT player so were you to take a BT TV package they would function. Note that BT only sells a limited range of packages  to retail box owners. The full range is available to those opting for a BT supplied box package.

  • Retail Boxed Version of Aperture Question

Does the retail boxed version of aperture come with printed copies of all the pdf's included electronically (full manula, getting started, image adjustments)? I like having hard copy reference materials and this will factor in on my decision to order an electronic serial number or just get the retail box.

It does come with a thick instruction manual, some instructional DVD's and a cool printed keyboard shortcut guide on cardstock.
Can't beat a good 'ole boxed version of software. Reinstallation and digging for serial numbers is much easier with a physical copy. I am done doing online serial #'s and purchases. I'll take the boxed version thank you.

  • You view box and no infinity in my area - help!

    Hi.
I started a youview contract in november 2012, paying the required fees in the process (£49 + £5 per month).  I stay in an area where there is no infinity coverage but I would lke to take advantage of the "free" BT Sport offer.
Called today to see what the best way of going about this was and after 20 mins on hold was told that I could have a box swap but I would need to pay another £49.
Surely as an ongoing broadband and you view subscriber there is something that can be done to allow me to get this box swap  without paying another fee 9 months after I paid the previous one.  The advertising for this offer is slightly misleading in my view.
Comments, thoughts and solutions are most welcome!
    Bruce

    Hi
I also got my youview box last October and have just gone through the same procedure as you and was offered a box swap at £49 but I do not think the Vision+ box has all the features that the youview box has.
I eventually settled for the option to get Sport on my PC until Infinity comes to our area which is scheduled for Dec 2013 but knowing BT will probably be sometime in the distant future.
Ps I have read other posts where people have got a box swap for free.

  • Upgraded to ios6 on my iphone 3gs and email is not displaying images. It has a blue box with a blue question mark inside

I just upgraded to ios 6 on my iphone 3gs and I noticed on a couple of incoming emails that the images and information are not being displayed. There is a blue square box with a blue question mark inside. I already tried to press the home key and power key to restart. The email still does not display correctly. I went on my laptop to retrieve that same email and I was able to see the graphics and information, so the problem is on the iphone. I received two emails like this, so I'm missing all the important information. I also tried to retrieve my email through the internet browser and I still have the same problem. Any suggestions? Thanks!

I forgot to mention that I have an Ipad 2 also and I can view the email information on there also. I received an email from Party city and it said to click here to print out the coupon. So I click the coupon and there is the little blue box with the question mark. This is the first time I've seen this happen, as I have printed out the coupons before. Maybe it has to do with the IOS6 update, because this just started to happen right after the update.

  • How can I prevent deleted mail from ending up in "All Mail"     and "Archives"?  To my horror, I've emptied these boxes and lost all my mail from all my boxes  (and why do I need to enter this question three times?"

How can I prevent deleted mail from ending up in "All Mail" and "Archives"?
To my horror, I emptied these boxes and lost all my mail from all my boxes .
All mail also disappeared from my iPad, I suppose because they are "synched"
(Also, no offense, but why do I need to enter this question multiple times?)
    Thanks for any thoughts.

I'm having a similar but slightly different problem. My company just migrated to Gmail, and it's saving mail drafts every 30 seconds into my Trash folder.
I unchecked the "Show in IMAP" preference in the Gmail settings, but my Drafts folder completely disappeared. I went back and checked it and the folder reappeared (with my drafts still in there).
I like the idea if starting an email on my laptop and having the option of finishing it on my iPhone or iPad, so only saving Drafts locally would not be ideal.

  • PDF prints with little boxes and question marks

I prepared a document in Microsoft Publisher 360 and created a pdf with creative cloud.
Looks great and prints great for me.
I emailed it to a few people and it looks great on their screens. However, when they print it,
it comes out with little boxes and question marks.
If I email them the publisher file it is fine.
How I can get them the PDF file without all the odd markings?

You probably used a font that is not on their system and did not embed the font in the PDF when you created it.  Don't feel bad.  We all have done it.  Just  make sure to embed your fonts in the Joboptions settings before you recreate the PDF.

  • 4 questions about the the top boxes - SD box and Home media DVR

Hello. I am going to be getting Fios soon and I have some questions about the boxes. I will be getting the Home Media DVR and 4 SD boxes.
    1) Do these boxes have timers on them to set so the box can turn off at a certain time?
    2) Do these boxes have parental control and if so is it good enough to block things that I do not want my child to see?
    3) How many people can access the home media dvr at the same time to watch already recorded programs
    4) If the Home Media DVR is in the family room can a record be started from the bedroom over the SD set top box (even an hd show)?
    Thanks for any help.

I have been using two Standard Set Top Boxes for about a year. I have Parental Controls on and all channels locked. When I want to watch a channel, I tune to that channel, note the LOCKED message, which tells me to press the OK button to enter ther Parental Controls PIN and unlock the channel for viewing.
This has worked flawlessliy for the last year -- ON THE Standard STB's.
I just ordered the Home Media DVR STB to replace one of my Standardt STB..
    On the Home Media DVR:
I can set the Parentals Control PIN and lock the channels, in the exact same way I did o nthe Standard STB's. However, when  tuen to ANY channel, I still ge the LOCKED message and instructions to press OK to unlock the channel -- BUT no matter how I press the OK button, the Enter your Parental Conlrols PIN dialog box willl NOT open. Nothing happens -- you CAN NOT view any channel.
Again, it is the EXACT setup as for the Standard STB, but the OK button will NOT unlock any of the channels.
If you unlock all channels and LOCK the Ratings, the same problem recurs: OK buitton will never open the "enter your PIN" dialog box.
I have received two replacement boxes and have spent hours on the phone with some very capable and helpful Techs -- no luck.
Has anyone else had the same problem? Here's how to test your Home Media DVR:
    1. Menu-Settings-Parental Controls.
    2. You will be prompted to CREATE youre Parental Controls PIN
    3. Enter you PIN twice.
    4. Use the > button to scroll to Enable On/Off and set it on.
    5. scroll down to Control Channels
    6. Press > button to See Locked Channels
    7. Scroll down to Add/Remove Channels
    8. Scroll right to choose LOCK ALL
    9. Press OK and then scroll to YES to lock all channels
    10. Press EXIT to get out of settings.
    11. All channels are now locked.
    12. Go to any channel
    13. A black screen will appear with a lock silhouette with the word LOCKED below, followed by instructions to Press OK to enter PIN and unlock this channel. (plus how to change locks...).
14.Press the OK button and, if it is working, you will see a dialog box at the bottom of the screen that is titled: UNLOCK, with the channel listed and the instructions to "Enter your PIN using your numeric pad on remote to naje this channel availabe for all users." THere's a PIN box, which shows asterisks for each number entered, with "Press Exit to Cancel" below.
    15. On the Standard STB, it works exactly as described in steps 1 thru 14. On the Media Center DVR, it works up to step `13, but in 14, no matter how you press the OK button, the UNLOCK dialog box never pops us. The Remote STB light flashes on the remove and the REMOTE yellow light flashes on the DVR,  but nothng happens.
If you have a Home Media DVR, can you please try this and see if it works?
    Thanks,
    John

  • Wrong cables from tv socket for youview box and tv

    Hi there,
I have received my tv box and can not set it up because the cables coming out of my tv socket are two satellite cables (the one with the screws). I have an aerial cable as well. Is there something I can buy to link these cables together or does bt provide this equipment?
    Thank you, Alexandra

    Unless I'm reading this wrong......
You have a wall mounted faceplate that has satellite screw connections
    One serves a sat dish
    One serves a traditional aerial
If that's the case, then a male or female (you'd have to check) one of these would do the trick
    A satellite to coax converter
You screw one of these in to the wall mounted plate and plug a coax cable in to this.

  • Hard Drive Replacement - SATA Retail Boxes Marked For PC Not Mac

I accidentally posted this question in the " Questions about USB/FireWire devices and RAM" so I'm re-posting it here.
I've checked this forum for messages regarding the upgrade of an iMac G5 hard drive from an 80 GB to a higher capacity drive and the vast majority of the comments say to just purchase ANY SATA drive and pop it in.
So I visited CompUSA and I noticed that the retail boxes are marked with system requirements that are either PC or PC & Mac. Most of the SATA hard drives indicated specific system requirements of a PC but not a Mac.
Here's where you guys might be able to help me. I'm looking at purchasing this specific drive
    http://tinyurl.com/jh924
    The drive is a:
    Western Digital Caviar
    SE16
    250 GB
    7200 RPM
    Internal
    SATA-300
    16 MB Cache
    Model # WD2500KSRTL
The requirements on the box indicate a PC not a Mac.
One sales person said that a Mac takes any SATA Drive.
One sales person said SATA drives are different for Macs and PC's.
Yet another sales person said that the PC requirements are based on loading the software that comes with the SATA drive which is PC based.
The last sales person said that you need to get a SATA drive that indicates a Mac platform requirement because there are two types of SATA drives.
And some bystander threw in his two cents worth and said that I should buy any ATA indicated drive.
So I'm tossing this issue over to you Mac pro's out there.
Is it true what everyone has been posting that ANY SATA drive would do even though the box indicates a PC platform is required?
    Thanks for the input...

    Thank you Eric and Duane...
The new drive should be arriving on Thursday and will be complimenting my Lacie Porsche (whatever) 250 GB firewire back up drive.
Eric was correct regarding the included software for partitioning, migrating data and other disk utility programs. I stopped by another pooter store today and noticed that the majority of the retail drive boxes that indicated a PC platform included various drive utilities geared for a PC.
I don't understand why the drive manufacturers don't just mark all of the SATA drives as Mac compatible. They can at least increase their market share and revenue by selling SATA's to the 5% of Mac owners out there and with the new dual core chips they'll increase it even more.
Now if I could only figure out why my Mac won't sleep but shuts off instead...

  • Using two BT Branded Youview Humax boxes

9 months ago I purchased a second BT branded Humax Youview box from John Lewis. The two boxes have worked on the internet channels perfectly well. I have now had access to the internet channels removed on the second box. I very rarely had need to access the internet channels on both boxes at the same time, it was just convenient to be able to use then in two different places. I am prepared to pay the £5 a month extra to reaccess the internet channels on the second box, but do I really have to pay £99 pounds for another box, when these two have been fine. BT have stated that they will only provide the service on two BT supplied boxes, and not on a 3rd party supplied box. Why would John Lewis a highly respected retailer be selling BT branded boxes for any other reason than use as a second box. If I had a fault with my BT supplied box I would go to BT for a replacement, in or out of contract. Why is it neccessary to have a G4 box

To address the bold text -
Yes - you do need two Youview boxes that BT provide to you.  BT appear currently to be inflexible on this. Note that BT do not currently sell any of its non BT lve  internet channels packages/add-ons/bolt-ons for use on retail bought boxes. So its clearly a commercial or channel licensing  decision not to do so.
The G4 is not itself a requirement for multiroom - it's simply the current standard new box that BT issue so if you order a extra box for multiroom thats the one you get.

  • Retail Boxes - December update

The December update for Humax retail boxes  (Manufacturer Software: 16.4.0 )
    https://community.youview.com/youview/topics/automatic_software_update_december_2013
provides additional accessibility updates AND allows the boxes to record internet channels.
Thus there would appear now to be a  Humax software version that combines the two Youview accessibility updates and the BT internet recording releases.

I got this update this evening.

  • Differences between Download vs Retail Box

I took the plunge and bought the download version yesterday. The Adobe Store says the CS4 Production Premium download was 19GB on the order page but after purchase, the size of the various files amounts to roughly 8GB. So my question is what does the retail box offer other than install discs and manuals that download doesnt? I know for CS3 we got a video workshop disc compromised of Lynda tutorials but Adobe has not provided an updated site with CS4 videos similar to what was offered in CS3.
    Anyone have any idea?

No, not the same. The Workshop was an Adobe hosted video portal for the various tutorials for CS3 Products that shipped as a disc as well. It doesnt make any sense why the store says its a 19GB download and what is actually downloaded is only 8GB. There must be some missing content somewhere.

  • New Software update has broken G4 retail box

I'm hoping someone can point me in the right direction
I replaced an original BT supplied DTR1xxx box with a G4 retail box about 12 months ago because of the constant lockups and laggy gui on the DTR1xxx box.
The G4 retail box has been working perfectly until today when Im guessing BT have pushed the latest update to it,now it cycles constantly between Waking up and Nearly ready. Selecting every option from Maint mode menu results in "Sorry, selected option failed"
I can switch back to the DTR1xxx box to troubleshoot but I cant go back to the hassle of that underpowered door stop.
Anyone know the magic words I need to use with Customer Care to get the right software pushed? Or to get them to give me a new box now that I'm out of contract?
    Thanks

I get exactly the same error with or without the network cable connected.
I've put my original DTR-T100 back in and after an update it is working fine, so this proves there is nothing wrong with my internet connection. It seems smoother now than it did when I replaced it. I couldnt tolerate the slow laggy UI and frequent lock ups. It looks as though the interim updates have improved the experience on the DTR-T1000, although not enough to make me want to stick with it.
It seems too much of a coincidence that my G4 Retail box shoiuld develop a fault at the precise time that new software is released.
I'm trying to upgrade my DTR-T1000 to a G4 box for £35, but of course nothing is ever straightforward. I have to wait a week for BT to fix some issue with my account on their system that prevents them submitting the upgrade. I wouldnt be at all surprised if my retail box starts working when I pay them the £35 to upgrade.
Seems bonkers that a BT branded retail G4 box should be blocked from connecting to their Youview service but hey ho.

  • How to set a default value for a drop down list box and then apply cascading based on the default value in Infopath 2010.

    Hello Everyone
I have two drop downs. Both are coming from look up fields from two lists. i want to set a default value(first list item) for the first drop down list box and then apply cascading based on the default value for the next drop down list box. I found one article(http://www.bizsupportonline.net/infopath2010/display-first-item-drop-down-list-box-infopath-2010.htm)
where in i can set a default value but i can't apply cascading based on that default value. Any suggestions would be highly appreciated.
    Thanks
