Z87-G45 Ethernet and USB problems. And BIOS flash problems

Hi. I kind of have a problem and hope you guys can help me.
I got this motherboard yesterday but I got a major problem with the Ethernet connection. It will simply not work, it’s totally dead. I have tried to enable everything that has to do with the Ethernet (Settings/advanced/intergrated peripherials) but it still will not work.  There is no light at the back side that indicates that there is signal when I plug in the cable. I have tried the cable on my laptop so I know there is signal.
There is no problem installing windows, but I can’t install the drivers for the ethernet. I get an error message then that there is no hardware that can use this drivers.
Are there any places in the BIOS where I can enable it? How can I get this up and running?
And my USB driver is kinda messed up too. My 120MB UBS pen is found and can be used, but my 64Gb flash pen and my 500Gb USB HDD will now work with the USB. I only get the USB "ping" connection sound over and over and over and over again with the windows error, drivers not installed.
The other thing about the USB is that every time I restart the PC, I have to unplug the mice and put it into an other USB to activate it.
I have tried to flash the BIOS, but when I try (after pushing m-flash and connecting the USB and finding the file), the whole BIOS just freezes up and nothing happens. I try to wait a bit but nothing happens. I have to manually restart the machine by "force" (Turning the power to PSU off and on again. Ayone know if there is a problem with flashing the BIOS from USB? Or maybe that the USB system is messed up? Any other way I can flash the BIOS?
I have downloaded all the latest drivers and updated.
Best regards
Robert

Again do not try to use MFlash. Try the board outside case like suggested.
THis is making me frusterated now......
I have now had the motherboard on my wood table with a antistatic tablecloth and antistatic armband.
I only plugged in 1 ram, power, a monitor and mouse/keyboard(USB).
I manage to get the USB pen bootable so I could do the memtest and biost flash.
The USB ports are still unstable. I still have to move my mouse and keyboard from slot to slot when I restart the machine. It feels like if random USB conection is being turned off and on for every time I start the computer.
I connected a HDD to install Windows 7 64bit.
The computer will still not read USB storage with larger then my 120mb storage in both the BIOS and Windows (I suspect that 1GB is the limit for some rason). It only shows that USB device was not installed.
After I isntalled the USB 3.0 drivers that came with the mother board, the USB 3.0 system just stoped working. I tryed to update the drivers to the latest ones, but they still dont work. The USB 3.0 drivers do work in BIOS, but the drivers that came with the motherboard does not support windows 7 64bit. Or this motherboard.....
The ethernet conection is still FUBAR. When I try to install the drivers from the CD, the "LAN picture" is still grayed out. And when I try to force install the drivers, nothing will accept the network connectin. Trying to install the Killer Network Manager just ends up in "No supported hardware found in your system". It is like that the ethernet system is turned totally off.... But in the BIOS is marked as enable.
I have tryed to installe Realtek drivers, Intel drivers and the Atheos drivers, but non of them will install, all just say that there is no network that supports this drivers.
I am at my wits end right now. During the last 15 years I have build about 20 computers and this motherboard is taking 1st price for being the worse one ever.

  • Want Mac mini and G4 to share Display and USB keyboard and mouse

I bought a KVM switch at a local electronics store. I got the only one that claimed Mac compatibility (PPA Int'l). I can't plug the switch into the G4 Cube. No such ports. With the adapter that accompanied my brand new Mac Mini, I can plug the KVM monitor port into the mini's monitor port, BUT that port is currently being used by the Apple DVI-to-ADC adapter I bought so I can connect my Cinema Display to the Mac mini.
The KVM switch wants 3 ports on each computer: a VGA (monitor) port, the keyboard port, and the mouse port; but the keyboard/mouse connectors are not USB.
As things stand--without the switch--I can shut down whatever computer I'm working on (mini or Cube), unplug the display from one, connect it to the other, power up and everything's fine. I suppose the only advantage with the KVM switch is being able to power off, switch, then power on without having to move the display plug.
My QUESTION is, does anybody manufacture a KVM switch I can use between two Macintosh computers to share use of my USB keyboard powered from a USB port on the display, and my USB mouse powered from a USB port on the keyboard?
Or is the answer NOT to go for the convenience of a KVM switch?
Does it matter that the mini OS is Leopard, and the Cube OS is Tiger?
I am heartily impressed with the mini. Setup was over in 5 minutes, and I must say it's fast. Appreciate any help from the experts. --Spot

I had the same problem, and finally came up with two other alternative solutions.
First, if you have a recent LCD monitor, it is fairly simple and cheap. The Mini has a digital connection for the monitor. My G4 400 MHz has both digital and analog connections. I have a Samsung 19 inch widescreen monitor that has both a digital and an analog input. I connected the G4 to the monitor using the analog input with my old cable, and connected the Mini using the digital input. The Samsung has a switch that will use either the digital or analog input - very easy.
Now the keyboard and mouse. I got a 6 foot USB cable with the A plug on one end and B plug on the other, plugged the A plug end into the G4, and ran the cable with the B plug up near the Mini. It helps to keep it close. You already have the keyboard/mouse plugged into the Mini. You simply unplug the keyboard cable from the Mini, and plug it into the B plug from the G4. Switch the monitor from digital to analog, and you have the G4 (remember to start it up). Once you have run the cables, it takes about 10 seconds to make the switch.
Second, and I use both ways, is to get an inexpensive wired router. I bought a Belkin 4 port router (about $30, I think), got a couple Cat 5 cables, hooked both the Mini and G4 up to the router, along with my internet connection, and have both computers available on one monitor with no physical switching involved. You will need to go to System Preferences/Sharing and turn on Personal File Sharing (there may be another change, but I can't remember it right now).
When all is hooked up, you go to GO in the Finder Menu Bar (make sure the G4 is booted before doing this) click on either NETWORK or CONNECT TO SERVER, find your G4 and connect. It may be confusing the first few times, but it works great because you have access to both computers at once, along with your internet connection - the best of both worlds!
I did this in January of this year, so please forgive me if I have forgotten a step somewhere. Ask me and I'll be glad to try to walk you through it. The first solution is the simplest to do, and the second in the most versatile. It's your choice.
Hope this helps. Just don't be intimidated by it - if I can figure it out, we can get you connected. Good luck!

Is this the first time you've fired it up? If so, what it wants you to do is to attach it to a computer that's running ITunes 10.5. iTunes will then 'see' the iPad and start a dialogue box to activate the iPad.

  • Lion and USB ports and flash devices

I noticed a curious thing today, when endeavouring to update my NavMan satnav via Parallels 6/ Win XP and USB under Lion. Basically, the satnav (which has internal flash memory) isn't recognised by the NavDesk software, WinXP or Parallels.
Booting the iMac back into my SL clone, all works as expected - the device is recognised by WinXP and communicates. It also mounts the flash drive on the Mac desktop until it's captured by Parallels.
Booting the iMac back into Lion, same Parallels pvm, the device doesn't mount on the Mac desktop, and is not detected by Parallels/WinXP.
So I look into it further: in Lion, under 'About this Mac', the device does NOT show up under USB hubs, on any of the USB ports on the iMac. However, if I attach the satnav to my standard Apple wired keyboard, it IS recognised on the keyboard hub, but still doesn't mount, or is able to be detected by Parallels. I should mention that I also tested this out with other flash drives, which performed as expected, and on another iMac running Lion that also did not recognise or mount the drive.
Not quite sure what to make of all this: works OK under SL, but not under Lion on the same hardware, so it would seem to be a USB driver issue, with Lion not playing nice with what is still a current-shipping third-party device and rendering it incompatible.

I'm not sure I totally agree about Parallels 7.
    From the actual Parallels website:
    http://www.parallels.com/au/support/pdfm6/
"Parallels worked closely with Apple during the development of its Lion operating system. Our testing has shown that the latest built of PDFM6 supports Lion but does not take advantage of new Lion features."
If you do a little digging, there suuposed advantages of 7 over 6 might not be worth the upgrade cost for some. I'm not really interested in Parallels using the new Lion features like 'enhanced full screen support', new gestures and mission control interface, AES-NI encryption and Mac-on-Mac virtualisation.
I would recommend anyone debating the issue have a Google around and also read the following link, at the end of the day for me the $50 buck upgrade isn't worth it and I will wait for Mountain Lion (OS X 10.8) and the eventual Parallels 8 before I need an upgrade.

  • Huawei e220 hangs on Mac Mini G4 and USB mouse and keyboard slow way down

I have a Mac Mini G4 running os10.5.8 My mouse and keyboard are a creative wireless combination that go to a USB hub then to the USB port on the mini. When I use my Huwei e220 wireless broadband modem, it frequently hangs when disconnecting, and the mouse and keyboard barely work. Activity monitor shows the CPU load is not very high at all, yet the mouse is almost stuck. If I put the computer to sleep, then it comes back and works fine. Its a bit of a hassle, and seems to be specific to the USB on the mac mini.

Is the modem connected via USB?

  • GX600 vga problem after bios flash

Hi guys, first of all sorry for my bad english
I have an MSI GX600 and, owning memory-hungry applications like netbeans, i have decided to upgrade his ram from 2 to 4gb.
i have bought 2x2gb ram banks with identical specs of the ones that was onboard (except by the size) and i have tried to install them. After the boot the screen las black.
Reinstalled old 1gb banks and all returned to work fine, so i started searching over the web and i have found several forum posts sayng that it was a limitation of the old bios and that it was solved with the last release. So i have decided to flash my bios with the one found in the downloads for MSI GX600 on the official website.
Now i can boot with 4gb but the VGA seems to have some problems because Windows boots but disables it saying that the device had a problem and that it was sopeed (error code 43).
Tried a clean windows installation but the problem persists: video drivers won't work and i must use it like a standard VGA adapter: no Aero, no games, no dual monitor support.
Now my question is: i must throw away my flaming laptop out from the window and buy a new one  or there is a solution less expensive?
    Thanks

  • P67A-GD55 (B3) Bios flash problem

    Hello!
First of all sorry if this post exists but i havent so far found one and ive searched for 2 days.
Well something happened during the flashing of my motherboard and no when i power on the pc i get an error message saying "Disk read error occurred"
i downloaded the latest version of bios from msi (V4.3) it says i have version 1.J0 when i boot with the usb stick.
when i run the flash from my usb it says "Error: Problem allocating memory" then "Successful" but the bios ver is still 1.J0
So then i tried a Cmos reset and same problem..
it has been working fine up until this point, Does anyone know what went wrong or how to fix this?

Please, give us some détails about your PC : processor, HD ...
If you have a sandy bridge processor, you can stay with 1.J bios.
If you have an ivy bidge processor, you must have 4.30 bios.
I advise you tu use MSI Forum HQ USB Flashing Tool : https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=116721.0
And you create a bootable USB with it.
Use "Method 1: Processing a BIOS Archive Directly (ZIP/RAR)"
With an archive (last one "4.3"), downloadable here : https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=164135.0
If you want to stay with 1.J bios, you must ask a special archive to an admin.
After bios update, dont forget to clear CMOS and enter in the bios parameters by SUPPR (4.3 bios) or F2 (1.J).
Don't forget to put your system disk in first position for the boot.

  • 870 BIOS flash problems

Well, I am a moron flasher! Didnt know the first thing of what I was doing, and didnt think anything of coming here first. Dumba**, I know. (facepalm) However, I am apparently one lucky dude as well, as I have had no problems whatsoever out of it. My only complaint is that it took the really cool MSI MILITARY CLASS MAINBOARDS loading screen off. Is there anyway to get that back short of reverting to old BIOS? If not, how would I get the old BIOS back? Didnt backup.
I also have another question that I'm not sure where to ask. So I will ask it here and hopefully someone can point me the right direction. I went into the BIOS and turned on RAID. I know my hd is raid compatible, but when I hit save and boot, it went back through the bios boot screen and then went into a raid screen, and then asked me where to boot from. I pointed it out and hit go and it acted like it was going to boot into windows. The windows emblem flashed and then screen went black with a message at the top (message was instantaneous, and I could not read it in time). Then it goes to a screen that tells me window couldnt load properly and gives me the option to run windows recovery manager or start windows normally. NEITHER OF THESE WORK FOR ME. The recovery manager tells me that it cant fix my problem, and starting windows normally results in a full cycle back through everything I just explained. My problem is that I cannot get back into the BIOS now at all. When I restart the pc and start hitting f11 it acknowledges that I have selected it, but jsut goes into the RAID screen again. WILL NOT GO INTO BIOS. What can I do or where do I post this question.
    Thanks.
(I realize this sticky is not for individual troubleshooting. As I said I really dont know where to post this question.)

First of all, to whomever moved this for me, THANK YOU!! Secondly, I'm not real sure how I would have checked that. But I have found a workaround to get the AHCI driver working and I will report back afterward. Would like to note that I did manage to get back into BIOS. Was hitting f11 and needed to be hitting delete.

  • Bootup problem after bios flash

I recently flashed my bios to version 2.50, and now it doesn't boot properly. I think it may have been because of a bad flash, but I am a litte uncertain regarding the symptoms for that ailment. The thing is, I used live update 3.77, and it went through deleting and writing without problem. Then it came to verifying, and half way through I lost video signal. I left the computer on for five minutes without any change, then i turned it off. Since then, it doesn't boot properly. I've used live update successfully before.
The D-bracket goes through 0000, 0001 and 0010 and stops there, some sort of memory problem according to the manual. I've tried another memory stick, I've tried unplugging all devices apart from cpu, ram and video and I've tried clearing CMOS (after I did that, keyboard power on stopped working, does that give anything away?).
Any thoughts on what I could do?
    Specs:
    MSI 865PE Neo2-FIS2R
    Pentium 4 2.8 800 FSB HT
2x256 MB TwinMos CrapTastic PC3200 memory sticks
    GeForce Ti4600
All other devices apart from keyboard unplugged

How did you and your friend fair with your MB problems?   I've had similar problems with my 865PE NEO2-FIS2R MB being stuck at the "Testing RTC" step as indicated by the D-Bracket.  My issues were that the BIOS defaults do not support my memory or AGP Video card. The default voltages are 1.5V for AGP and 2.5V for RAM, but my video card (An MSI AGP Video card: FX5200-TD128 (MS-8911)) does not function well until I set the AGP voltage to 1.7V and my memory sticks (two sticks of Kingston KHX3200K2/256MB) are speced. at 2.6V, but run more stable at 2.65V.
Here is the process that I followed which I have pieced together from other forum posts, including answers from Maesus:
    1) Remove ATX Power Connection
    2) Move JBAT1 jumper from 1-2 to 2-3
    3) Remove battery
    4) Remove memory stick(s), leaving only one in bank 1
    5) Remove AGP Video card and install PCI Video card.
    6) Wait 30 minutes.
    7) Reinstall ATX Power connector.
    8) Reinstall Battery
    9) Move JBAT1 jumper back from 2-3 to 1-2
    10) Power up system and go into BIOS setup.
    11) Set AGP voltage to 1.7V and memory voltage to 2.65V
    12) Save and reboot.
    13) Power down.
    14) Reinstall memory stick(s).
    15) Remove PCI video card and reinstall AGP video card.
I hope this helps, because it has saved me from RMAing my MB a number of times.
BTW, I have had a number of problems with BIOS 2.5 and have done extensive testing: https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=93100.0
I have come to the conclusion that BIOS 2.5 is not stable when MAT/PAT is enabled (Fast, turbo and ultra-turbo speeds).  I may flash the BIOS to 2.4 to see if I can get the MAT/PAT function back and stable.
    Take care,
    Pete

  • X79A-GD65 (8D) dual bios flashing problem. One works, the other is bricked.

    Hi guys,
First post but not excatly the right scenario I wanted to post under.
This all started when MSI updater decided out of no where to download and auto run the bios updater. Before I had a chance to close it, it had started the update process before I could close a number of program's that I was running. Obviously my windows decided to freeze on me. I had no choice but to reboot. On the restart my PC was stuck on a F2/F6 (could be F9) loop. So I switched to BIOS B and all was good in the world.
My attempts to recover BIOS A have been unsuccessful. I tried clearing the CMOS first, this caused the pc to reboot every ten seconds in instead of the auto recovery. I have yet to reach post yet. So I tried the forum flash method flipping the switch after the tool had loaded up back to A. No luck on 1.7 Or 1.7 beta 181. Done a mem test which ruled out the RAM as well. Not sure what to try next.
As stated before everything works fine on B, A must be super bricked or something. Either that or the forum flash method failed or I'm just doing it wrong.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks.

Makes it risky for any future updating of the good chip without a second one to have as a safety net.
RMA is always an option. Should be no problem getting it covered under warranty.
I'm contemplating an RMA but i honestly feel it is more hassle then it's worth while it's working fine on B. I just won't bother updating the BIOS unless they release something which seriously effect's/help's me. This is the first motherboard i have had with a dual BIOS so i'm usually quite safe when it come's to updating things like this. Just my fault for a moment of stupidity.

  • Msi 865pe neo3-v bios flashing problem

Ok so i tried to flash the bios and i succeeded but the problem is that i flashed with winflash, bios v5.2 and from my understanding that version is for the boards that support dual channel cpu-s. The problem is that now when i try to flash the bios with version 1.2 it tells me that the size does not mach the installed bios size or something like that. I would like to add that now with v5.2 i have a lot less options (settings) in my bios. How can i flash back to 1.2?

Stop BIOS flashing and tell us what you are trying to do.
