Z97 Gaming 5, Dual Channel RAM not working?

Here are my specs for the moment , Windows 7, Intel Core i7 4770k, 8,00GB Single-Channel DDR3 @ 666MHz (9-9-9-24), Nvidia GeForce GTX 780 (EVGA)
As the title says dual RAM is not working, when I put all 4 RAM sticks in their slots or even just two in dual channel mode my monitor will not respond and the screen is just black, can't even go to BIOs.
The BIOs settings are at 1333 MHz and 1.5 v, I've tried raising the volt and lowering it, anyone have any ideas?
I've tried the 1-3 and 2-4 slots with two 4gb sticks and it does not work, but the 1-2 and 2-4 works fine, have also tried all the individual sticks so none of them are faulty.
RAM: Corsair XMS3 DDR3 1333MHz 16GB KIT CL9 4x4

Please clarify. You mean a single stick works in 2 or 4 but not 2 and 4 together? So that means DIMM slot #3 is the only one that doesn't work at all? My suspicion is a grounding or short under the mainboard by an errant standoff, or the DIMM slot has some debris in it, or the slot is just plain faulty. Other possible is a pin problem in the CPU socket.

  • Dual Channel Does Not Work!!!

As the title states, I can not get anything to work in dual channel mode.  I have tried 3 pairs of matched memory, and they all do pretty much the same thing.  These are the modules tried:
    Mushkin: http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=20-146-289&depa=0
    Corsair:  http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=20-145-432&depa=0
    OCZ:  http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=20-146-882&depa=0
After perusing this forum I found several things to try, so I tried them all, even bought a new PSU, nothing helps.  Then I actually called tech support, after about an hour on the phone(on my own dime) they decided it was a bad mobo...(which was my assumption and why I called..)
Anyways, here is what happens when I try to boot with default settings, and SPD.  It will either post and freeze while trying to load windows, or it will not post, and hang during the process, at which point the monitor loses signal.  The only way I can get it to load windows in dual channel mode is if I set the DRAM freq down to 266 and raise the latency values far from spec, and then it is highly unstable in windows...On top of all this, the only ram that is stable in single channel mode is the OCZ, but only when 1 module is installed...in bank 1.........can someone please help me!!

Why do I have to set the DRAM voltage to 2.9v, when everyone else has theirs set to 2.75 - 2.8v ???
you shouldnt. even corsair recommends to set their stuff to 2.7v or 2.8v and i have never heard that anyone needed more voltage on his/her memory in order to make it run stable in dual channel mode.
since you've said that you have done "all the little tricks" posted in the forum i dont know what to advice further on. maybe you tell us what you have already done...

  • Z97 Gaming 7 Sound Blaster Cinema not working

    Hi Guys,
i m having the same problem with most people.. with SBC
i can;'t get SBC working.. always show " the current selected audio is disabled.. blah blah blah.."
     click "yes"
    "no supported audio device available"
Tried with the following steps already:
    1.uninstall SBC,
    2. restart
    3. uninstall realtak audio drive
    4.restart
    5. manually remove all audio drives in device manager
    6. install realtak audio drive
    7. restart
    8. install SBC
    9. restart
    10. now audio drive does show Realtak audio drive, but SBC still not working, same pop-up prompt.
anyone have any idea how to get it work?
or does it matter if i dont use SBC?

Just checked the BIOS Section if any Z97 BIOS's are showing up yet. For flashing I trust the forum's USB method over anything else. In the interim, I have used M-Flash with a bootable USB stick using the BIOS + ME choice on Z87 without a problem prior to the forum offering the file archives.

  • Z97 Gaming 9 AC: ASIO driver not working

    Hi.
I bout this mobo some days ago.
I like it but i'm facing some 'difficulty' to make ASIO driver working.
Honestly seems that not work at all.
My Ableton Live program, do not detect the ASIO driver installed ( lookg the image below )
    i62.tinypic.com/2itptdv.jpg
I already installed ( on W8.1 x64 ) all the driver, including Cmedia and realtek ( latest available on the MSI site ).
    Someone have some suggestion?
I bought this mobo cause i won't buy a dedicated audio board ( for now ), but if i can't make this work i'll ask a refund and back to asus plus a dedicated audio sound card.
    Thanks

I've noticed you have Quadro GPU. Can you try removing this and trying looking for ASIO driver once more?
a vga that do not allow to an audio driver to work properly?
funny, but i can try for sure.
    Quote
By an accident I've found this: http://www.asio4all.com/   Personally I would give this a try.
    nope.
i bought this mobo because it support ASIO natively. i do not want to use a 'workaround'.
i could keep my previous mobo then, instead buy this one...and spend money for use asio4all...
    Quote
You should have installed all drivers from MSI's website, if they are, then there should be no problem with anything.
this is what it supposed to be, but it's not...unfortunately.
if you read my previous post, everything was installed correctly; ASIO don't work.

Xear Audio Center is for some USB Audio adapter, which I guess you use?
if it's just for USB adio device ( like for example an external audio eg. MOTU audio express ) maybe i don't need it then. by the way, the xear audio center, do not start when i click on it.
i think it's strange, maybe? or i need to connect an external audio soundcard before launch it?
there's nothing mentioned inside the manual, by the way.
    Quote
I never used ASIO, but don't you have to change default audio settings in control panel? And together with OS, was it actually fresh installed?
i already checked all parameter inside realtek environment, but i didn't found nothing that can be set BEFORE to enable ASIO driver.
    Quote
As far as I know, ASIO is from dedicated sound cards, but never had one so I have no clue what's that about (sorry for my ignorance).
it's not your fault. MSI just wrote that this mobo support NATIVELY ASIO 2.2
That what i supposed to found on this mobo.
    I've been betrayed, for now....

  • MSI Z97 Gaming 5 - RealTek Audio Drivers not working

I just assembled my rig and installed all the drivers. For some reason there's no audio playing when the Realtek drivers are installed. Audio can be played when using the generic audio drivers. The Sound Blaster Cinema 2 doesn't work as well. I get the following errors below when I have the realtek driver installed.

I just fixed this. Apparently the realtek drivers that came with the installer doesn't work. I downloaded the latest version at the website and it works. I wonder if MSI knows this. They should fix the installer cds that come with the motherboards.

  • Dual channel doesn't work in green but does in green/purple?

Just bought 2 512mb OCZ PC3200 Plat. rev. 2 and tried to put both sticks into Channel A (green).  My system didn't post, and the Dbar had 1 green in the upper right corner (saying memory damaged or installed improperly).  So, I moved one of the modules to the first purple DIMM slot; now I have DIMM 0 and DIMM 1 filled.  I noticed in the manual that I should fill the green slots first, then the purple.
Is this going to be a problem having one DIMM on green and the other on purple?  My sandra test shows that I have about 5950mb/s memory bandwidth; would both greens be slightly higher than that?  Am I going to be screwed for overclocking?

    READ THE MANUAL
they are COLOR CODED for a reason..
Green is DDR CHANNEL A - Purple is DDR CHANNEL B
of course DUAL CHANNEL will only work when you have one MODULE in EACH CHANNEL, as is the nature of DUAL CHANNEL

  • Foxtel on T-Box -- all Foxtel channels suddenly not working

Hi  I would really appreciate some help. We have happily had, used and (I daresay) loved our T-Box for the past 5 years. And then I made the fatal mistake of subscribing to Foxtel on T-Box about 6 weeks ago, as I wanted to legally watch Game of Thrones. (Please don't laugh at me spending $65 per month to watch one TV show; I am trying to do the right thing!) Suffice to say, the love affair with our T-Box is over. Foxtel on T-Box worked fine for a couple of weeks. (My original setup was a T-Box 1, connected via a strong WiFI signal via HDMI to plasma TV). And then all of a sudden, about 4 weeks ago, I began losing all Foxtel channels. Instead of the channel coming up, I get a black screen with a message at the top of the screen that says "Loading internet channel, please wait". And sometimes, I also get a message at the bottom of the screen which says "Cannot start playback, please try again later (0612)".   A wierd thing is that through all of the problems with Foxtel on the T-Box described in this post, using the exact same account/subscription, Foxtel has continued to work percetly fine via the Foxtel Go app on my iPad and PC. Since out Foxtel channels started not working, I have called Telstra support about 5-6 times. As a result of these calls, I have purchased a T-Box 2 and it connected via ethernet instead of WiFi. (BTW, this didn't change anything and IMHO was a complete waste of $99.) The Telstra support person has apparently done all he/she can on their end. And I have also reloaded subscriptions, reset licences, reformatted the hard drive, reset the T-Box(s) on more occasions than I can count - about 10x. My ADSL2+ internet speed is not great, but it should be OK. It's usually about 5-7Mbps download and 0.5-1Mbps uplaod (as measured by http://vic.speedtest.bigpond.net.au). As I mentioned above, even when the Foxtel channels don't work on the T-Box, it works fine via the Foxtel Go app on my iPad and PC. Sometime doing these things get the channels to work again, by trying one thing after another, but usually it does not. On the rare occasion when the Foxtel channels do somehow come back, neither the Telstra support person nor I, know what happened to make them work. The issue has been escalated to a "Level 2 support person" who is investigating. But he/she has been investigating for the past 2 weeks, and hasn't been any help at all so far. I now keep getting fobbed off by the Telstra support person, with no commitment about when the "Level 2 support person" will do anything or when he/she will call me. Whilst the Telstra support people I talk to are perfectly polite - so far no-one can solve this problem. This is very, very, very frustrating! If you have had similar issues and fixed them, can you please let me know how? If you are a Telstra support person monitoring this forum, how can I progress fixing this problem? Cancelling my Foxtel on T-Box subscription is not what I want to do, but right at the moment I have no confidence that anyone from Telstra has any idea what is going on or how to fix it. Any support would be grately appreciated. Michael PS: And if I hear another Telstra support person ask "Can I help with anytthing else today?" -- when they haven't been any help whatsoever WRT the problem I called up about -- I am going to scream!

I'm in the same boat, into Week 3 of losing all my Foxtel Channels, Lost anything that says Foxtel. Channel 958 doesnt have any reference to Foxtel.  Reset over 10times, Router & Tbox Reset & turned off for the Day.
No Foxtel Channels show up in the Guide. First I had the error messages, then everything was wiped when asked to reset with a Telstra Customer Support Person. Then got invalid channel numbers on all Foxtel, & lost all Info to anything Foxtel.
7 Customer Support persons & 14hours of Phone calls & complaints, no one has an answer how to get my Subscription Back. They can see that I have a Subscription but don't know how or why this has happened.
Have also got Foxtel on the job looking for answers as well as Telstra.
I have been using Computers for 30years & can't believe no one knows how to fix it.
The Tech Crew at Telstra said that my line speed had slowed due to the fact I don't have Foxtel on anymore.
I asked my Wife to ask the Customer Support person to get the Tech to Email that Answer in writing to us so I can show the Communication Ombudsman people, but all they send are Emails about "I hope we have helped you with your query" & can you complete the online survey.
What they need to do is a full diagnostics / firmware reload, but it seems no one knows how to do that.
    Sorry I can't help!

  • How do install dual channel ram on a K9A2 CF-F, AMD 790X, DDR2 motherboard?

dual channel ram. I have two sitcks of 2GB DDR2 GSkill 800mhz ram (4gb in total) do I put both of the
ram sticks in the two green slots or do I put them in the two orange slots?

Thanks for the quick reply I have one last question I am using windows Vista is there any PC application/program that will tell me if I am in dual channel mode or single channel mode?
    Thanks in advance

  • Gaming 3 motherboard not working with dual channel ram

    Hello,
Whenever I try to put the RAM in dual channel (slots 1/3 or 2/4) in the motherboard Gaming 3 (z97), the motherboard stops working, and starts a loop of getting power for two seconds, and turning off again.. untill I kill the mains.
This doesn't happen when the Ram is in single channel (slots 1 and 2)
The ram is Corsair Value select 4 GB x2
    My specs are:
    Intel i5-4690k
    Nvidia Gtx 750 Ti
    MSI Gaming 3 motherboard
    Corsair Value select 4 GB x 2
    Samsung Evo 128 GB SSD
    The bios version is 2.3
Any help would be great. Is it a motherboard specific problem? Or voltage issues?

    Hi,
can you refer to manual and check which DIMM slots are default? As far as I know, they're 1 and 3.
Test each RAM stick individually, by going from DIMM #1 until #4. Working fine? Test the other same way. Also look around CPU socket and RAM slots for any scratches or other unusual stand offs. Also try to lower RAM down to 1333 and try again.

  • Can't get Dual Channel mode to work

    Hello,
I have a pair of 512MB DDR400 ram sticks (listed in my sig).
The Memory Slots are arranged like this:
                1 2   3
    [cpu]    |  |    |
I put each stick in slot 1 and 2 and no workie, still Single Channel Mode.
I put a stick in slot#2 and #3, no workie.
I put a stick in slot#1 and slot#3, no workie.
Is there something else that I'm missing or did I just buy the wrong memory for dual channel operation? It was not a matched set, but it is the same no-name brand of memory I bought from newegg.com. They both have the same 3225804T-5 marking on them...
They are supposed to be 2.5CS and that is what my bios is set to. I don't have any special settings in the bios that I know of..
Let me know if you have any ideas or if I need to post more information.
    Thank You!

    K7N2-V
Not sure about this but is that motherboard based on the Nvidia nForce2 400 chipset?
What does the manual specs say?
If it is then it doesnt have 2 memory controllers and can only do single channel.
    Edit: http://www.pcper.com/specs.php?p=MB&id=38
    That your mobo?

  • My dual channel doesn´t Work :S

I have this Ram ->Kingston KVR400X64C3AK1/1G (2 x 1 modules 512 mb), and if i put the two modules enabling the dual channel, putting 1 onto 2nd channel and 1 onto 3rd channel mi pc goes down while i´m in windows, it´s restarts once and once again, 1 minute left or 1 minute before, it´s random but it crashes. I tried to configure the memory modules in a single channel, and it works.
How can i make to work my pc in dual channel?
thxs for your time, and sorry ofr my english i´m spanish
    ag3r

Not really. Adding an extra 512mb of ram to my machine helped with framerates and stuff, but loading UT2004 Assault maps with dual channel PC2100 memory was just as slow as it was with single channel. It's only 3 to 5 percent and not worth the extra time/money for him, IMO. I never would have done it had I known there was no performance gain, I would have instead sold my 512mb DIMM, lived without my comp for a few days and then put the money towards a 1gb DIMM. :D
I often wonder why AMD board manufacturers even bother wasting their time and money putting dual channel on their athlon xp mobos. Even Athlon 64's that are not FX chips don't take advantage of dual channel.

    Hi,
What about if you try to install drivers from your product's page?
    http://uk.msi.com/support/mb/Z97-GAMING-5.html#down-driver
And when exactly it starts to fail to work? Did you try to have OS just installed, restart it and see if it works then? Are you able to determine which driver installation causes USBs to stop working?
    thank you
i just remove USB3 controller driver and work
    thank you all :D

  • K8T Neo2-F MS-6702E Error using Dual Channel RAM slots

    Hello
with RAM banks on slot 1 & 3 or 2&4 as recomanded, the PC doesn't start up
on the D-Bracket 3 red leds signs memory error!
The Ram is Kingston kit 2x512 KVR400x64C3AK2/1G
    Someone can help me?

I thought you may be interested to know of my experience with memory on this motherboard. I had 2 x 256MB of Geil Value PC3200 DDR Ram on slots 1 and 3 for months and months with no problem at all - they were identical modules but NOT a matched pair - and ran in dual channel mode @ 2.5 3 3 6 and 400MHz according to CPU-Z ... absolutely no problems at all. These are double sided memory modules.
I wanted to upgrade and bought a matched pair of 2 x 512 Geil Value PC3200 DDR RAM intending to upgrade to 1.5GB ... I thought that I should put the two 512s in the green (DIMMS 1 and 2) and the two 256s in the purple (DIMMS 3 and 4) ... all I got was 3 beeps ...3 beeps, etc ...so I put the two 512s in DIMM 1 and 3 .... no problems!!!!! ... then I emailed MSI and got a reply ..... put the two 512s in slots 1 and 3 and the two 256s in slots 2 and 4 ... works fine!! ... now I have 1.5GB memory.
One other thing - the memory now (exactly as the manual says it would!!) runs at 333 on 2 3 3 5; this is 2 clock cycles for the CAS latency (???) ... instead of 2.5 .. so although the bus speed is slower, it takes fewer clock cycles for this to happen (whatever it actually does - something to do with the Column Address Strobe - how quickly/regularly the columns in memory are strobed. ...).
I don't pretend to be an expert but 2.5 clock cycles at 400MHz is equivalent to 2.5 nanoseconds per cycle which is 6.25 nanoseconds for 2.5 clock cycles .... 2 clock cycles at 333 MHz is 3 nanoseconds per clock cycle ( at first glance slower ... but) so 2 clock cycles take 6 nanoseconds ... so this has to mean that 2 3 3 5 at 333 MHz is faster than 2.5 3 3 6 at 400 MHz doesn't it?

    hi....
can any one tell me how to connect the RAM as dual channel on the MSI 865PE Neo-2 p Platinum Edition ?
i did like what is written in the manual but nothing happened it only works as a single channel....
    the RAm is 2x512 spectek DDR400 PC3200....
    pls help me.............

    Franknputer is right.
All systems that I build for my gamers runs in Dual Channel and the combo is 1 + 3 or 2 + 4 or 1 + 2 + 3 + 4. 1 x RAM in Channel A and 1 x RAM in Channel B minimum will give your Dual Channel Linear Mode message during startup and you know that you are running Dual Channel.
Next, it is always recommended to have the same make and model and capacity of the RAMs if you want to run in Dual Channel.
