Zen Touch Software Problem!!

Hi!
I've still got this old problem with my zen touch. I did some backup of my own files and copied them on my zen touch. Now that I need this backup I can't get any access to my data files on my Zen Touch. I have no problems accessing the music files, but when I try to get my data files windows explorer is loading and loading... and then loses the connection again. I tried some other software under linux with the "libnjb" Library. And I had success with Gnomad2, but this stupid app obiously isnt able to show the subfolders, there are all the files, but without folders --> pretty anoying. And its quite interessting that Gnomad2 has no problems accessing these files, I can even copy them etc. Do you have any experience with alternati've software accessing the DATA FILES? I cant believe that creative doesnt offer its own software... because windows explorer doesnt work at all! The Media Source works fine as well!
Thx a lot
Giovanni

If you haven't tried, make sure you have the latest drivers and version of Nomad Explorer.

Have a .0.03 Zen Touch 40gb with XP Pro sp2.
Loaded complete software package from provided
CD before connecting the device. When I connect
the Zen Touch via a confirmed working USB2 port,
I get a "hardware is connected and ready to use"
message, Device Manager sees it with no issues,
yet NOMAD Explorer and Creative MediaSource don't
recognize it. I get a "device is not connected"
message in both programs. What gives?

This means the player hasn't been detected. Have a look in Device Manager to see if it's listed without error, and with a driver version (which should equal those that have been loaded).
Yes, but as I said in my original post, the <i>computer</i> is seeing it with
no problems. It's the Creative <i>software</i> that's not recognizing it.

• Zen touch software killed my co

the day i recieved my zen touch i installed the software that came with it which was about a week ago now. A couple of days ago I tried to connect to Realplayer to rip my music becasue it is much better than the creative software. As i went to open realplayer i noticed that it would freeze right after it started. I contacted Creative through email and was told qoute "the only thing that happened is that when installing
the MediaSource Software your preferences where switched to MediaSource.
In order to correct this, you will need to uninstall and reinstall
MediaSource. NOTE: that when reinstalling MediaSource you will be asked
if you want MediaSource to overtake the similar functions of other
software. You will need to select NO when this option appears.
Best Regards,
James
Thats great becuause first off I dont get the option to set priority when i uninstall then reinstall the software. And secondly after doing so realplayer still doesnt work and now neither does my zen software. And thirdly now that i reinstalled i get a message stating that Error number 0x8004020 an event was unable to invoke.... anyways now i can not reinstall the software to even connect the zen to the computer. SO now i am stuck because i did a system restore with no evail and cant completely unistall or reinstall ANY of the software makeing my zen touch a paper weight. hope someone can help because aparently Creative cant.

in addition i have also used the procedure on your site "unable to invoke subscribers... setup will terminate" tutorial and it did nothing I just want to know is there anything i can do since i have literaly tried everything. This problem doesnt only concern me though since this 0x8004020 problem is associated with other software from creative. IF anyone has had this problem i need to know how to fix it because im just getting frustrated with this whole situation and the lack of support from creative is giving me second thoughts on their products and customer support.

• Zen Touch sync problem with Windows Media Player

Please can someone tell me how to get my zen touch to sync with WMP it worked fine until i was advised to install an update to it and it has stopped recognising it! I'm using windows Xp home and have the latest "plays for sure" firmware on the player, Also another problem i cannot install the creative mediasource software to the pc as its wants the player connected and it doesn't recognise the player either!!! the player is recognised in the device manager though can anyone help me please thanks in advance.

I am having a similar problem. I've upgraded firmware(2..0), mediasource(5.0.38), drivers(plays for sure), and Media player(), in that order. After each update, I checked how things worked. That's how I discovered I needed the next. With WMP 0, things were working fine, but I wanted WMP back on my computer. Since then, in CMS5 it takes about 7 minutes to load the player, at least 0 minutes (or sometimes not at all) to edit anything (tag info or playlist) and WMP hangs completely. I've seen that other people have gotten this combination to work with their Zen touch players. Is there something I'm doing wrong? Any ideas on how to fix this?

• [ZEN Touch] Firmware Problem & Recovery M

Hello.. I'm italian so i'm sorry for my bad English.. You try to understand to me, please.. I use Babel Fish translation for translation..
At 5/0/2005 I have bought a Zen Touch 20Gb in Modena (Italy).. The device has always worked well and I am much content of my purchase.. But a day an error message has appeared to me.. This message spoke about problems with firware, so I have entered in the recovery mode and I have tried to put a new one firmware on my device (I had never update my firmware, there was still yet original firmware)but I am not successful to complete the update.. Now the device is always in the recovery mode (in the high part of the screen is written Creative Zen Touch v.0.0.0) and there are four options: )Clean Up; 2)Format All; 3)Reload Firmware; 4)Reboot
I cannot load firware 'cuz the computer read the device like external hard disk of 20MB (this is not an error 20MB instead 20GB) e the program that load firware says that the device is detached, also when the device is attacked to USB..
Can you help me? Thanks for your attention

OK, here is the answer... Remove anything to do with Creative Zen. All software. They key to this is having Windows Media Player 0. If you have , rollback. If you have 9, upgrade to 0. Reboot. Attach the zen - it should be automatically detected and installed. Run the upgrade to firmware 2.. That should do it. Remember, the key is Windows Media Player 0. I had this EXACT same problem, and I was able to fix it by doing this.

• Creative Zen touch Playlist Problem - H

I've had problems with the software on my creative zen touch 20gb since i've had it. All i want to do is learn to creat a playlist of all my favourite tracks. Because of the software problems i've had (and i've tried everything to fix it) the only program it will let me use to synch files is Windows Media Player. I've read all the instructions about how to create a playlist but none of them apply to windows media player. Does anyone know how to create a playlist using the media player. the version i have of the zen touch is 2..0.

Yeah it synch's ok. I can transfer music over no problem, but the difficulty comes in creating a playlist. Say for arguments sake i had 0 albums on my mp3 player. I might want to take individual tracks from each album and put them into a playlist. I cant seem to do that with windows media player.

• Zen Touch Software

Hi there,?The other day my computer died, so I had to re-install the OS and everything. I've searched everywhere but I cannot find the software CD that came with my creative Zen touch MP3 player. Is there a way I can get a new copy of this disc?CheersSeventhson

Hi Seventhson,
You could contact Customer Support to enquire about a replacement CD, but you shouldn't really need it. We have files available on our Downloads page you could use, just click on Support -> Downloads. Your player is listed under MP3 Players -> ZEN. You can get the driver, application (MediaSource Organizer), and the MediaSource plug-in.

• Zen touch software for

Does anyone know if there is software for my mac that will allow it to recognise my Zen touch?

<a href='http://www.wentnet.com/projects/xnjb/index.html' target=_blank>XNJB I think is what you need. Currently it works on OS X 0.3 (Panther). Check it out and give support.

• Creative Zen Touch Software Install Er

Just received thi today. Start the install, gets almost to the end and the following error occurs:
CTRegSrr Error
Missing File: \Creative\Shared Files\PDEJB.pid
I hit okay, and it continues but it never asks me to plug in the machine or anything. It tells me to reboot, I do, try to launch the program and it states that the program directory cannot be found.
Any ideas?

pagancub,
I have a Zen Touch 20gb and I know your problem. I had exactly the same one. It is an currupted file on the cd or possibly or maybe in a temp folder on your HDD. You should go to Nomadworld.com and download Nomad Explorer, then it should find it without any problems. Also, download the lastest drivers etc. and install them according to the directions on the sitea nd you'll have no problems

• Zen touch scroll problem....

hi
my sons creative zen touch scroll function does not work at all. any suggestions as to why this may be??

Dude, Daphy, you have to know something. He says that the touch pad doesnt work "at all". Meaning it wont highlight over anything to select to play or get to the time or anything. Accesing the recovery mode you can do, but the only thing you can access is the first option, which you can easily select, but you cant highlight yes because the TOUCH PAD DOESN"T WORK!!!!! Some of these administrators have to know the same thing im telling you. And i suggest that the person with the problem with their player should return it for a new one and sell the new one for money to buy like a Rio or ipod. Cuz the same problem is going to happen with the new Zen Touch. Beli've me, it happened twice to me and im gonna get an ipod photo to p-o the creative people.

• Zen MicroPhoto software-problem (win2k-suppor

today I bought the ZMP cuz I was faszinated about it.
I use win2k (newest SP's).
The instalation of zen's software doesn't work. At the shop they said I need some software -update and it'll do, but I searched almost the whole web without any result (am I the only one with win2k and the Zen microphoto?). I don't want to upload pictures and I don't wan't any special features (till now). I just wan't to put some fine music onto my fine ZMP without buying winXP.
Can anyone help me solving this problem?

^you need to check out and download the legacy drivers.
The Zen MicroPhoto is a MTP device and is designed to work with Win XP with SP or 2 installed and Windows Media Player 0.
If you want to use another OS, you need to d/l the legacy drivers.

• Zen Touch software iss

I've been trying to install the driver and MediaSource for my Zen Touch onto my Dell laptop from the installation CD, but everytime I start it, it says that it has to shut down for some reason or other. I tried downloading the Creative MediaSource from your website and was able to install it, but now, when I dock my Zen, it never picks it up and allows me to transfer files, etc. What do I do?

In short, you need to:
<FONT face=Helv size=2>
- Download and install the latest Creative MediaSource Player/Organizer 3.30.2 from your product download site.
- Download and install the latest Creative Zen and NOMAD Jukebox plugin 2.00.9 for Creative MediaSource from your product download site.

• Zen 4GB - Software Problems - Don't

I've had this player for more than 3 months. There are big software problems, every updated firmware is useless and I suggest a big button for reset (you have to use it many times).

There's one important lesson that I've learned with MP3 players and that is leave firmware updates alone. I've a Sandisk Sansa as well as a Creative V4 and you only have to have a quick look at both forums to see that a large proportion of problems occur as a result of installing these so-called updates. I also have an old i-ri'ver player that is about 5years old and has never been updated and has never given any trouble. In any case why update if it's working okay? What do these updates improve anyway?
