Zen Vision: M - Info need

I'm thinking about getting this player but I have some question I wanted to ask.
- Does the headjack broke easily? I have experiences with the micro that has the headjack problem and that just frustrate me.
- Is there any flaws about this player that people should be awared of?
- How's the sound quality? Video?
- Can it zoom in pictures?
- Is it reliable? Can it survi've for a long time?
thanks! xD

I have had the Vision:M for 4 or 5 months now and I couldnt be happier.
The screen is fantastic and the sound quality is very good - perhaps excellent.
The headphone jack has held up fine and I have had no problems.
So far, I have kept it in a case that I purchased seperatley so the shiny black finish has only a few spider scratches - but I can see the surface as being more surable than an iPods. I would recommend a case though.
Yes you can zoom into photos larger than the screen but there is an option to convert your photots to the size of the screen and if you do this you cannot zoom. The zoom has only one zoom setting - it blows the picture up to 00% of its size and you can then scroll around the picture.
Battery Life is excellent and much better than other Portable Media Players like the iPod.
The only flaw is that sometimes - if you use Windows Media Player to syncronise - it sometimes tries to sync all of the content again so you will have two of each track.
However, this is most likely a software fault and not the players.
I would get this MP3 player over anyother - fantasic. Way better than the iPod!

  • Zen Vision M - I need more gigs (60g

    Hi All
I want a new mp3 player and was about to buy an iAudio x5 with 60gb and then i saw the impressi've screen on the Zen Vision M. But i can only see a reference to a 30gb on the site and stores. Sorry but this is not near enough space for me as I already have a regular Zen with 60gb. When i move to a video mp3 player 30gb will not be enough.
Is there a 60gb Vision player or any rumours of one on the way, if not i will be getting a iAudio player.
    Garry

    No word on it yet.

  • Zen Vision:M 30GB - NEED HELP TO RESET PLEASE

Here is the problem just experienced. Have owned just under one year and purchased an alarm clock radio that is iPod adaptable. It was by Memorex. Now we know this is not an iPod so we followed the instructions that state compatible for ALL OTHER?mp3 players with use of?an line-in cable to the radio alarm clock. As soon as we plugged it in...it lite up and went to the CREATIVE screen and froze there. Will NOT shut off, cannot be recognized by the computer any more, and when using a paperclip it will power down as long as the paperclip is there, but will then go RIGHT BACK to CREATIVE and is just frozen there. HELP - PLEASE HELP..How do we reboot it from this situation. Has anyone else experienced an issue like this? I AM SICK TO MY STOMACH OVER THIS
    !!! WHAT HAPPENED !!!!

  • Faulty Zen Vision:m - advice needed ple

I only have my zvm about 2 weeks or so with only about 6gb of music loaded on to it and it seems to have malfunctioned.
Yesterday, I selected an album to play, and the zvm hung. Screen was normal blue screen, with "now playing" at the top but no other info listed. There was no music heard thru the headphones, no noise from the hdd and I couldn't turn it off. It stayed like that for about an hour.
I reset the device and went to recovery mode - there was a loud, regular sound from the hard dri've, sounds like the "tock" from a clock. I selected clean up - it went to "scan disk" and I left it like that for about 2-3 hours. Nothing seemed to happen, so I turned it off and left it over night.
Now when I turn it on, it goes straight to recovery mode, the sound is still there. I tried "clean up" again, and left the device for about an hour or so, but again no further progress with it. I've tried reboot a number of times but it goes straight back to recovery mode.
I just tried "reformat" and got a message "hard-disk problem" and it went back to the recovery mode menu. I also tried to "reload firmware" but got the same message and result.
Has anyone any advice for me? Or should I contact creative tech support tomorrow morning? Has anyone experienced this or similar problems?

Yea, I'm pretty sure Creative uses refurbished harddri'ves from the 990's in there players because I don't trust them (actually I just don't trust HD players =P) anyway let this be a lesson to you, get on the flash bandwagon!
As to your problem lots of people (this is an actual thread) have been banging there players on hard surfaces with a moderate force to try to kick start the player. There are various reasons but for one or another your HD got stuck. You can try it if you want, your clearly under warrenty so this might make the player useable until you get an RMA (NOTE this isn't a fix, its more like taking painkillers, won't make the problem go away, just help the pain for a while)
Also don't bang it so hard that there is any visible damage to the outside of the player, because the last thing you want to do is void your warrenty. I know it's frustrating but when banging keep your inner Hulk at bay =P.

  • Zen Vision:M - help with moving files around once loa

Guys and Gals, i recently bought the Zen Vision:M and need some help. Once i loaded songs or vdos into it i find that i am not able to move these files from one folder to another. I am using the zen vision explorer program that came with it. it allows me to right click then select 'cut' or 'copy' but then when i navigate to where i want to paste it the paste option is greyed out when i right click. anyone have a solution for this? any help would be greatly appreciated.

it sucks... you want a song in one folder like the album into another right? Yeah you have to modify the ID tags to do that.... I took all my songs and changed the album name to ALL for my zvm using snackamp. Look it up it works fine. You can choose the songs you want to a particular album (works for 200 at a time) and choose the album for them all. Thats the only advantage of iPod i'd have to say... the ALL option under songs... so yeah get snackamp, use it, take all the songs off your zen and re-add them and it should be fine.

  • Zen vision m dead?

I have a zen vision m. I was using it at work. low battery blinked and then battery died. left it at work over the weekend. took it home to charge it. plugged it into the wall charger and nothing was happening. tried plugging it into the comp and nothing happened.
i tried resetting it, nothing happens.
tried using the recovery software, but it requires the mp3 player be turned on, which i can't get it to do.
i sent an email to creative and they made me angry by saying 'nothing we can do because you've had it for over the warrenty. ask the forums.'
so HELP PLEASE I BEG YOU. i LOVE that thing and i'm lost without it. any ideas?

Sounds what happened to my Zen Vision M. You need your battery replaced. Heres a site where you can get the battery replaced or do it your self.

  • I need the info of the preloaded songs that came with my Zen Vision:M

I accidentally deleted the preloaded tracks on my Zen Vision:M. I've read other posts and realize that since they are copyrighted the only way i can get them back is to buy them, and Ive even gone and checked out Naxos.com, but i think they have specific tracks, and I think the one track I want back is a medley. Im not sure if this was obtained by Creative from Naxos.com or not, but either way I cant find it on Naxos.com. I was hoping someone could post some info on this specific track so I can do a better search or even find it on itunes or something. I dont know much about it but I believe the file was called symphony.mp3 and I belei've it was a medley of John Williams songs. Does anyone have any info on this and what I can do to locate this song, whether I have to purchase it again or not?
    Thanks!!

the songs on the player are bound to the machine as I recall, you can't copy them off and still have them work.
I would suggest simply buying a few john williams albums

  • Zen Vision M 30gb, used to be able to download music from I tunes, can't now, need he

I had another computer with I tunes loaded, also used Zen vision M on it along with I Pod, new computer has both products downloaded on it, but for some reason it wont recognize the Zen or let me download music from the i tunes library like i used to. also this computer uses windows vista. Can anyone help

So, you need an older version of the iOS app, because the current version no longer works on your iPod touch.
If you do regular backups of your hard drive (as you should), such as by using Apple's built-in Time Machine (if you use a Mac), you may find the older version of the app in the backup archive, and restore it (replacing the newer version).  They are stored in the iTunes Media folder, in the Mobile Applications sub-folder.  You should then be able to sync the older version to your iPod touch.
I can't think of any other way to get it back...
NOTE:  An 2nd gen iPod touch can run up to iOS 4.2.1.  If your iPod touch is running something earlier, and that is why the app no longer works, you can also consider updating the iPod's iOS.
I use an even older iPhone (original).  I avoid this potential problem by aways updating its apps on the iPhone, not in iTunes on the computer.  When I do it on the iPhone, it will not download a newer version of an app that won't run on my old iPhone.

  • If you need ANY kind of help with your Zen Vision:M or any other Creative prod

I just wanted to let everyone know there's a great website and forum where you can find really helpfull things related to all Creative products. It really helped me with my Zen Vision:M
There you'll find news, deals, info, help, etc. and the forum I was talking about. You should check it out
    www.epizenter.net
It's like a very friendly and helpful creative's products fan site.Message Edited by omarceja_s on 08-8-2006 0:08 PM

As said above you can not move mp3 files between folders, which I also find very annoying, along with not being able to rename files or albums on the player itself. Hopefully Creative makes these minor modifications for the benefit of future purchasers, other than that the player is great.

    thanks
    jessica brewer

Looks like you might have to return it if it isn't responding to charging and the reset option. Is it under the 30 days return policy?
OR you could have an RMA so that Creative fixes it and then returns it to you. Here is most of the info:

Hoped that helped a little, and good luck.

  • I need help with my Zen Vision M.. PLEASE HELP

Hey, I'm having sooo much trouble with my Zen Vision M... so i was wondering if anyone could help me out.. i hav a couple of ?s that i desperately need answered. . All of my album art is the same and its driving me crazy. How do i change the album art?2. Is the battery in the Vision M removable?3. Can Zen Vision M shuffle songs?4. I used to have an Ipod.. i was wondering if?i could directly transfer songs from itunes to Zen MediaSource?~~~~~~~~~?Any help will be really helpful! Especially if?someone can help me with the album art!! THANKS GUYS!!

. All of my album art is the same and its driving me crazy. How do i change the album art???Not an easy answer for this one without knowing more about how you are setting the album art.
There are two types of album art embedding.
One is where the album art is embedded directly in the tags of every Mp3 file. (a bit waste of space)? The second option (which is the more common method) is where each file has embeded information pointing to an external image for the album art. This is more efficient on space, and is often the one that end up with people having the same art on every song.
Usually what happens is people put the songs in a common directory and not in subdirectories such as Artist/Album/mysong.mp3. With all the files in one flat directory often the album art (depending on software) gets saved with the same filename such at album.jpg.
And he album.jpg file gets overwritten, and since all the songs think "their" album art is in the album.jpg file they all end up with the same art being displayed.
Easiest solution is to copy the files into folders to organize them by album, and then reapply the album art.
Since doing that on my ZVM I haven't had any problems with art getting lost or duplicated in ways I did not want. ?2. Is the battery in the Vision M removable???Unfortunatly it isn't.
?3. Can Zen Vision M shuffle songs???There are several random play options for music.
In my opinion doesn't really feal that "random" though. 4. I used to have an Ipod.. i was wondering if?i could directly transfer songs from itunes to Zen MediaSource??You will need to export them to MP3 from itunes. Checkout the Creative KB on how to do it. Its solution ID 4653.

  • I Need Help With My Zen Vision M 30GB Player ASAP

Tonight i had started deleting of my music folders on my creative zen vision m 30gb player and as it was doing that i accidently disconnected the usb cable from the player. After that the player was froze on the docking mode and i hit the reset button with a paper clip. Then after that for some strange reason my computer does not detect my zen vision m player as being connected to the computer. the docked screen appears on my player but the arrows keep spinning and my pc keeps saying found new hardware mtp device and does nothing but repeat that over and over again. I run windows xp pro service pack 2 with windows media player installed. I really need help asap to resolve this issue and have my pc reconize it normal again where i can access my music folders and playlists again.

The core problem is related to Microsoft Windows Media . To resolve the issue, you need to uninstall MWM v from the Add/Remove Programs. Then it will rollback to MWM v9. Unplug the player from the USB port. Reinstall the supplied software from Creative if you need too. Reboot, plug the device into the USB port. Reinstall the device driver for the MP3 player. Reload the latest firmware. The file can be downloaded at

The Zen Vision:M is also chargeable via USB, connect the subpack to the bottom of the player and plug in the provided USB cable and it will begin charging. Hard dri've noise is always present but shouldn't be too noticeable unless you're in a very quiet room and heat should not be excessi've.
