Zero values in the database

Dear BPC Experts,
I am getting incorrect results when running SPRUNCONSO.  It seems that the error is due to zero values that are in the database.  Would you know how i am getting zero values in the FACT tables?  What should i do to prevent this situation in the future?
Best regards,
Grace

Hi!
Thanks for your comments/inputs.  I am getting wrong amounts in the calculation of minority interest expense, equity in net earnings and investments.  However, only a few entities are affected.
Minority interest expense = PMIN * Net Profit  >>> Using the data in BPC, i dont get the correct results for some entities.
System was calculation correctly in the previous month.
Any idea what is causing this wrong calculation?
Thanks and regards,
grace

  • Error while inserting BLOB value in the database

    I am trying to insert a BLOB value in the database. This action results in the following exception:
    java.sql.SQLException: ORA-22925: operation would exceed maximum size allowed for a LOB value
    The method i am using is as follows:
    public void insertBlob(Connection Con, StringBuffer Message)throws SQLException
    String Query = "INSERT INTO MSGBLOCKS (MSGDB_ID, MSGBLOCKTYPE, MESSAGE) VALUES (20, 1 , ?)";
    PreparedStatement PS = Con.prepareStatement(Query);
    byte[] bytes = new String(Message).getBytes();
    ByteArrayInputStream bi = new ByteArrayInputStream(bytes);
    PS.setBinaryStream(1, bi, bytes.length);
    PS.executeUpdate();
    The manifest file of ojdbc14.jar being used is: 10.1.0.5.0 and I am using jdk 1.4.
    Also the message being tried to insert is of 9 Kb only.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!!!

    Did you check if the Message is having only that small 9kb of data? also check the maximum allowed size for that column in the Oracle DB, the size can be restricted to 8Kb also.

  • Placing null values in the database

    Hi
    I'm using a PreparedStatement object to try to input a null value in the database. I'm using the following code :
    pstmt = connection.prepareStatement("INSERT INTO Conditions (Deal,ConditionDate,Condition ) VALUES (?,?,?)");
    pstmt.setString(1,"aDealName");
    pstmt.setNull(2,Types.TIMESTAMP);
    pstmt.setString(3,"aCondition");
    pstmt.executeUpdate();
    and I get the "SQL Data type out of range" error message.
    Does anyone know what might be the problem?
    Thanks for any help

  • How to Save the multiple selection check box values into the database

    i have the multiple selection check box implemented in UI through drop down list,i can choose the desired values from the drop down through checkbox, but i m unable to store these values and commit the values into the database all at a time.

    You can access the values using listbinding and can then store them as a string by using a delimiter.

    Hi,
    instead of
    {status.text}
    should be {status.selection.label} (status.selection is a RadioButton or null and after that you can get label property). It's better to set one of the variants in radioButtonGroup to selected and do not check null selection or selectedValue property.
    It seems that {giftSkill.text} is ok, but {work.text} above it has the same problem as I've described above.

  • How to display Zero values in the chart

    Hi,
    In BO design studio 1.3 we are using bar chart and line chart for one of the dashboard. we have enabled the data labels and data is also displaying in the chart, but for certain criteria the data is itself zero in the database. In such scenario chart is not showing zero as the data label and it is simply blank. Is there any way to display the values even though it is zero?
    Thank You,
    Palani.

    Hi - I don't see a way to do that; if you want that in the future I recommend posting something on Idea Place - ideas.sap.com

  • To create a Crystal Report which will prompt for a value and if nothing is entered select the alternative value from the database record.

    Hi Experts,
    I am working on a report in Crystal (2008) which will prompt user to input a value, but if nothing is entered then it will select relevant database value.
    I created a string parameter prompt called "{?Pack_Qty_Overide}" and used the following formula.
    IF {?Pack_Qty_Overide} = ""
    THEN {OITM.SalPackUn}
    ELSE {?Pack_Qty_Overide}
    However, when I check the formula in editor, it says that there should be a number at the end of "Else" clause.
    What am I doing wrong?

    Hi Janos,
    OITM.SalPackUn is Numeric(19.6). When I used parameter input type as number, my formula returned error that "A number is required here" at the "if .... " statement.
    So I used the formula you provided and it worked, such that when I input a quantity in parameter prompt it would display that, but if no override value given, the field remains blank - i.e. it does not display the value stored in OITM.SalPackUn.
    What am I doing wrong?
    Thanks,
    YP

  • Setting null values vs Default or initial values in the Database?

    i am working on a system and i have set any field that might optional as Allow Null,, but this is causing me a lot of troubles especially when i am querying the data or perfoming some calculations from the database. So is it valid if i changed all the Allow null field to have initial values an restricting null values to be inserted into them, so example, to set the initial values for an integer to be 0 and string to be empty?

    Hi,
    You can implement business logic on db side or on app side.
    Advantage and disadvantage of implementation business logic on DB side.
    Advantages:
    1.Don't require app server software version changes/compilations (Java, C, C++, C#...)
    2.Stored procedures are stored directly in the db.
    3.DBA can manage and optimize the stored procedures in flexible way; it'll be transparent for app server because the same remaining interface.
    4.Avoidance of network traffic - the stored procedures can run directly within DB engine.
    5.Encapsulation of business logic as API in the database.
    6.Reports can be implemented like PL/SQL functions that return table data type. The functions can be called from application side - sort of API.
    Disadvantages:
    1.DB vendor specific, but when dealing with the same databases (for example Oracle) it's not relevant.
    2.Require DB skills to write the procedures correctly: it will require time for a pure java/c/c++/c# programmer to understand the DB code and to write it in optimal (from db point of view) way.
    3.If it's too complex business logic - the db side implementation can become too complex.
    To overcome issue with null(s) please use NVL function.
    Example:
    drop table  TEST_TABLE;
    create table TEST_TABLE(parameter varchar2(20), val number(10, 2));
    insert into TEST_TABLE values ('A', 23.245);
    insert into TEST_TABLE values ('B', null);
    insert into TEST_TABLE values ('C', 123);
    insert into TEST_TABLE values ('D', null);
    select avg(nvl(val, 0)) from TEST_TABLE;Hope this will help.

  • Help on fetching values form the Database Tables

    Hi,
    I am working on fetching the values from the Oracle base tables.
    First the order will be submitted by the customer. Depending on the city name he mentioned I need to route the order details to two different queues.
    For example if I(customer) insert a list of values(order details) to a table name "X" with the with city name as "San Jose" I need to fetch the values from this table "X" and route them to a Queue"A".
    And again if I insert a list of values to a table name "X" with the with city name as "Milpitas" I need to fetch the values from the table "X" and route them to a Queue"B".
    How do I do this in ESB. I know how to use Database adapter and MQ adapter to create connections between Table and queue.
    Can any one help me on this.
    Thanks
    Ramana.

    Hi Ramana,
    Your use case may be implemented using Oracle ESB like this:
    - Specify a database adapter for reading from DB, your table X. Select an appropriate polling strategy for this. When you finish the wizard, you should have a DB service and get a Routing Service (RS) "for free". The DB service should already be wired to the RS.
    - Specify queuing services add appropriate routing rules with filters (that are based on the message content) and message transformations in your RS in order to route data to the queue of your choice.

  • How to get the sequence value from the database

    Hi
    I created one sequence in the database.
    Then I want to take the current value or nextvalue of the sequence in a java program.
    How can i do this?
    can anybody please explain me?
    Thank you so much.

    Here you go ...
    Connection conn = null;
    PreparedStatement prepStmt = null;
    ResultSet rs  = null;
    int seqNo = 0;
    try {
         conn = dbConn.getConnection(); //manage your connection here
         String strSQL = "SELECT SEQ_NAME.NEXTVAL FROM DUAL";
         prepStmt = conn.prepareStatement(strSQL);
         rs = prepStmt.executeQuery();
         if(rs.next())
              seqNo = rs.getInt(1);

  • NO ONE KNOWs??? EJB3.0: how to use column default value in the database??

    hi,
    This seems to be easy but I didn't find good answers... pls help...
    I have a table XYZ with a column:
    FriendlyName VARCHAR(30) NOT NULL DEFAULT 'my home'
    When I want to persist an entity object XYZ, I don't want to specify its field FriendlyName---in my program, l leave the field value to be null and I want to rely on the database to default its value to 'my home'
    however, i can't seem to do that because every time, i got the error msg saying the field "FriendlyName" can NOT be null.
    Is there a way for me to rely on the database to give the field its default value without specifying it in my entity class? (I am using ejb3.0 persistence+hibernate+mysql)
    thanks for ur input....

    That looks nice, when you don't include columns in
    inserts statements the dbms takes the default
    The question is: does hibernate understand and works
    with that?
    Let us knowWell, probably not. I did try that, somehow I got the following error msg. I did go through the log carefully, nothing really meaningful is there:
    javax.ejb.EJBException: Transaction aborted; nested exception is: javax.transaction.RollbackException: Transaction marked for rollback.

  • Unable to save values to the Database

    Hi,
    I have created a table in the database and a form with submit and the cancel button.
    When the values are entered in the form and the submit button is clicked, the values are not getting stored.
    When I was analyzing this, I changed the "Page in this application" to "No Target" in the "URL Redirect" tab from the submit button.
    Now, after the values are entered, and the submit button is clicked, I get an error message, stating "ERR-1777: Page 3 provided no page to branch to. Please report this error to your application administrator.
    When I checked the database tables, the values have been stored.
    My doubt is how can I store the values, without getting the error message?
    Please help!

    When the values are entered in the form and the submit button is clicked, the values are not getting stored.That suggests that your button did not submit the page but used a URL Redirect attribute instead.
    When I was analyzing this, I changed the "Page in this application" to "No Target" in the "URL Redirect" tab from the submit button.The URL Redirect attribute of the button should be set to "No Target" but you now need to create a branch on the page to go to whatever page you want the user to see next.

  • Saving field values to the Database

    Hello ,
    I have created a GP Application where the user enters some details in the webdynpro screen which goes for Approval to the approver...now I want to save these values in some database like SAP R/3 and retrieve them later on based on some Id number....please help me on how this can be achieved...
    Any help would be highly appreciated.
    Anil

    Hi Anil, you can achieve that an vary ways. The most common ways are 2:
    - Calling RFCs from WebDynpro (remote function written in ABAP) that will store the data you want in tables in R/3(WebAS Abap database). The you can write another RFC that can recover this data using an ID as input parameter.
    - Creating an Entity in CAF with its entity services, and the exposing the corresponding application services as Web Services and accesing this webservices from Web Dynpro. In this case you will be able to store the data in tables in the WebAS Java Database.
    Here there are two links with info:
