5.4 Adjustment brus bug + File export naming bug

There appear to be two bugs in 5.4
1. I just finished editing an intense adjustment brush edit. I went to tweek it when I opened the brush there are no pins to activate even though the edits are there.
2. Export file naming not working correctly. I always use export "Title plus file number" or "Custom name - original file number" Neither of these exports include the file number.
3. Did 5.4 change somthing in the configuration settings. If not, is there a way to restore 5.3 until these bugs are fixed.
Jim

Regarding item 1, the pins can be visible or not visible or conditionally visible.  The option to do this is at the lower left of the tool-options bar available when you press the T key to toggle it on and off.  If you feel your pin-visibility options are set properly, please show a print-screen with the pins not there and the pin-visibility options set to Always.
Not sure about item 2 as I don’t use it.

  • Naming the csv file exported to Excel

    Hello all,
    Is it possible to force an excel csv to have a different name when exporting report contents?
    Currently out csv files are named: region_name[1].csv for example. How do we get rid of the "[1]"?
    Thanks

    You could define a form item and substitute the default name with a &item_name. so that the user can define the excel output name.... At least in standard report csv downloads..
    Thank you,

  • Exporting from PHOTOS has no file size/naming option.

    I have always been able to download from my D750 in RAW NEF, and convert to JPEG when needed and given a size option.  I no longer see it.  Is it gone?  The same goes for naming an individual file.  Is that gone?  It also just converted a 200 monochrome photo shoot which took quite a bit of time to set up contrast, brightness, etc., to color upon download.  This will take a substantial amount of time to re-edit to get it back these pictures back to their original state, if I can.    Have all my previous files/albums been modified (size/resolution)?  Just what went on here?

    File>Export for selected photos:
    Play with the various dropdown boxes:
    Custom to choose custom size.

  • Export all open files to jpeg = bug?

    hi there!
    I'm currently writing a script that exports all the open documents to a JPEG.
    this works except for one little thingy:
    instead of exporting all the documents, it exports only the active one, with all the other document names...
    so for example:
    3 files opened, 3 files exported with a different, correct filename, BUT every jpeg shows the active file.
    I don't know what I'm doing wrong, so if someone could jump in = AWESOME!
    TY!
    M.
    this is my code:
    try {
        if (app.documents.length > 0 ) {
            // Get the folder to save the files into
            var destFolder = null;
            destFolder = Folder.selectDialog( 'Select folder for JPG files.', '~' );
            if (destFolder != null) {
                var options, i;
                // Get the Flash export options to be used.
                var options = new ExportOptionsJPEG();
                // You can tune these by changing the code in the getOptions() function.
                for ( i = app.documents.length-1; i >=0 ; i-- ) {
                    // Get the file to export the document as swf intos
                    var targetFile = new File( destFolder + '/' + app.documents[i].name +".jpg");
                    // Export to flash
                    app.documents[i].exportFile(targetFile, ExportType.JPEG, options);
                    app.documents[i].close();
                alert( 'Documents exported as JPG' );
        else{
            throw new Error('There are no document open!');
    catch(e) {
        alert( e.message, "Script Alert", true);

    Changing your 'for' loop to a 'while' loop and working with 'activeDocument' rather than documents[i] works fine for me…
    Like so…
    try {
        if (app.documents.length > 0 ) {
            // Get the folder to save the files into
            var destFolder = null;
            destFolder = Folder.selectDialog( 'Select folder for JPG files.', '~' );
            if (destFolder != null) {
                var options, i;
                // Get the Flash export options to be used.
                var options = new ExportOptionsJPEG();
                // You can tune these by changing the code in the getOptions() function.
                while (app.documents.length > 0) {
                    // Get the file to export the document as swf intos
                    var targetFile = new File( destFolder + '/' + app.activeDocument.name +".jpg");
                    // Export to flash
                    app.activeDocument.exportFile(targetFile, ExportType.JPEG, options);
                    app.activeDocument.close();
                alert( 'Documents exported as JPG' );
        else{
            throw new Error('There are no document open!');
    catch(e) {
        alert( e.message, "Script Alert", true);

  • Column with bug when exporting photos to html

    When I select, say, 20 photos and choose file/ export to html document, the default number of
    photos (Columns) per row is three. If I change it to five, the html document keeps a 33% column width
    instead of changing it to 20%. This did not happen in an my older version. Is this a bug that could be corrected in the next update?
    My actual version is iphoto- '08 7.1.4 (371)

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Change the thumbnail size and that should get you to a narrower column. I find the build in HTML page builder to be clumsy to use with the thumbnail size always reverting back to the 240 size. Changing the thumbnail size will let you adjust the column width.
    Have you tired the free iPhoto plugins, Flash Album Exporter or SimpleViewer which create flash based galleries and slideshows? They are a lot nicer than the build in web page builder in iPhoto. Or iWeb?
    TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
    I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. Just put the application in the Dock and click on it whenever you want to backup the dB file. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
    Note: There's now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.

  • Aspect ratio issues in iDVD with mov files exported from FCE

    Please help. I believe this is an iDVD bug. I have found some relevant discussion of it on online forums - but have not found a solution that works for me. I am looking for a workaround.
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1356500&tstart=31
    PROBLEM STATEMENT:
    My 4:3 movies, exported from FCE in QT-with-conversion formats (any 4:3 format) - appear in iDVD with gray side-pillars (as expected for 4:3) AND with a black line (letter-boxing) at top and bottom - as would be for 16:9. It appears the aspect ratio is also distorted i.e. 16:9. (The iDVD project is set to 4:3.)
    1- A 4:3 mov file exported from FCE using Quicktime Movie format (no conversion) does not have the problem, but I cannot de-interlace the video using this export mode.
    2) A 4:3 mov file exported using QT-with-conversion mode (any 4:3 format) DOES have the problem. I need to use this mode in order to get de-interlace.
    (Exception: 640x480 VGA mode does not have the black lines, and it displays correctly in dvd player on my computer screen - but on the TV screen, it crops content from the top and bottom of the movie, so this is not an option.)
    3) In Finder, if you click on mov file exported QT-only (no conversion), it opens in the FCE viewer. If you click on mov file exported in any other 4:3 mode, it opens in Quicktime viewer (i.e. there is absolutely something different in the header/ID of these files.)
    4) All mov files, regardless of export mode, show correctly in Quicktime viewer - no black line, no distortion. The problem does not occur outside of iDvd.
    5) I tried passing the QT-with-conversion mov files through an Inverse-Anamorphicizer (per suggestion on forum - this apparently fixed the problem for some people) but the resulting output mov (i.e. the inverted product) still had the same problem.
    I am, so far, left with this trade-off: Give up the de-interlacing, or live with the letter-boxing/ distortion. Neither is acceptable.
    I am looking for a workaround:
    1) A way to export de-interlaced 4:3 mov from FCE that shows in correct ratio in iDVD
    2) A way to "convert" / re-head mov file after exported so that it displays corrrectly (inverse-anamorphicize) so that iDVD reads it correctly
    3) Can the mov be de-interlaced after the fact (so I could use QT export without conversion)?
    4) Something besides iDVD to put this together - that doesn't have this problem? (I like and want to use the iDVD menu/theme.)
    5) Other?????
    I also notice that all the QT-with-conversion mov files are 1/3 to 1/2 the size of the QT-only mov file, which is valuable and preferable to me. (I don't see any quality difference in the display...)

    In the Preview window > top frame > middle button
    do you have correct for pixel aspect ratio checked or not?

  • Premier Pro CC and Media Encoder crashing on long file export.

    Please forgive the length of this inquiry. But it is complicated and has a lot of variables.
    I have an hour long mixed format timeline both Red 3K footage and Black Magic ProRes 1080P footage that I want to make a DVD from and it takes forever and crashes half way through. I have tried doing it every way possible and the only way I was able to get even a partial export was using the "MPEG 2 DVD" export option in Premier CC. It goes fast at first telling me it will take about 2 hours but even though it starts quickly doing about 15 fps it slows down to less than 1 fps and finally just stops and crashes my Cuda Core enabled Macbook Pro Laptop.
    I really don't know who to ask about this since there are so many different variables. I never had a problem like this on my MBP with PP6 on a 4K timeline exporting to DVD or Blue Ray or to H-264 or Even Prores. But I wasn't mixing formats either. But on this project the first 20-30 minutes of footage goes through fine in a couple of hours but something seems to be bogging down the system on longer projects. My work around was to break the project up into multiple exports and combining them on the DVD timeline but I can't do this on every project. I thought maybe it was a corrupted clip somewhere in the timeline but when I broke the timeline up into several parts I had no problems.
    I did notice a dramatic variance in the time it took to export footage based on the sequence settings. A one minute timeline comprised Red 3K footage and ProRes 1080P footage Here are some sample export results:
    From a Red raw 3K timeline 2880x1620  with 1080P Prores footage upscaled 150%)
    to .m2v Mpeg 2 720x480 format    1:48 Minutes ***
    to .mov  Prores 422HQ  1080P                         22 Minutes
    to .mov H.264  1080P                    22 Minutes
    to .m2v Mpeg 2 1080P                                                22 Minutes
    From a 1080P timeline Prores footage at 100%  (Red footage downscaled to 67%)
    to .m2v Mpeg 2 720x480 format                         13 Minutes
    to .mov  Prores 422HQ 1080P                             13 Minutes
    to .mov H.264  1080P                                                             14 Minutes
    to .m2v Mpeg 2 1080P                                                            14 Minutes
    Since I am going to DVD,  I chose the fastest option  Red to m2v Mpeg 2 720x480 format which only took 1:48 per minute. Why? I have no idea. Maybe someone here knows the answer. But again these numbers are for a ONE MINUTE clip when I tried to convert the whole hour timeline to  the 720x480.m2v DVD File the Red timeline froze my computer after several hours even though I had set sleep mode to “Never” and turned the display off manually and I had to convert it in multiple chunks. In 20-30 minute chunks it did go fast about 1:48 per minute like the test indicated. But I would like to be able to convert the whole hour and not to have to try to stitch the clips together in my DVD authoring program.
    I don’t want to have to avoid using multiple formats on the same timeline or waste time transcoding everything to the same format.
    Can anyone give me any suggestions as to why the computer is crashing or bogging down in long exports and what timeline settings I should be using?
    I have plenty of room on my Scratch Disk and 8 Gig of RAM and according to my Activity Monitor during the export process  have about 800 Meg of System Memory during export but the CPU Usage is 98% and in my Activity Monitor I see under “Process Name” ImporterRedServer flashing up at the top of the list about every second during export.
    Why .720x480 mpeg DVD setting is so much faster than all the other export codecs?
    And if there are any other settings I can use to get higher speed exports in HD? 14x1 seems a little slow especially since every time it crashes I have to start over.

    Hi,
    Since a long time I did not encounter the crash of Media encoder with
    long file export.
    But I take care of a lot of details before the export :
    - clean up Media cache and Media Cache Files within PP CS6 and/or CC,
    - delete all render files with Preview Files,
    - rendering of sequences until the rendering is completed,
    - PP CS6 and/or Pp CC opened during export to AME and/or Encore CS6,
    I guessed to leave Adobe but this company remains the last with a
    serious authoring software (Encore CS 6).
    I tested :
    - Avid Media Composer, Final Cut Pro X, both are very good software but
    no really authoring software for these video editing softs.
    Th only way is to "flood" Adobe with "bug reports" and "wish forms"
    which are not very easy to use.
    And also to call the Adobe support day by day until they send they
    escalate the bug.

  • File Export Renaming Problem

    I want to export collections of files from Lightoom.
    I want to rename the newely exported files, but I want to use the same file number suffix as the original file.
    I also want to embed the oringal file name in the metadata of the newly exported file.
    The problem is that, when I go into the File->Export dialog i.e. the "Filename Template Editor" the orginal  "file number suffix" is not showing up in what would be the newly created filename. The orginal file number suffix does not appear to be part of the metadata.
    The current filename on disk does however have the file number suffix as part of the name.
    However it does not seem possible to extract part of the current file name (i.e. the number suffix) on export.
    If I rename the files using a number sequence then adding or removing a file will change the sequence on subsequent exports of the collection.
    (Not something I want to do, since it would then be difficult to keep track of the images used originate the exported file, if I updated the collection.)
    Renaming all my original files is not a viable option since there are too many of them and different exported files may be in more than one collection.
    *Any suggestions as to how to get the file naming I want for the exported files, i.e. "placename-oringal file number suffix"?
    (Given the file number suffix is missing from the metadata)
    *Also I would like to include the existing file name in the metadata of any new file name.
    Any suggestions on how to automate this?

    John said:
    > Unless you check "minimize metadata", it should all be there.
    No I have not checked this box.
    > Second, if you rename your files just before you Export (and not in the Export dialog, but actually rename them by batch
    > so the LR name is changed) you'll be able to link them up to the originals much more easily.
    No this will not work.  My naming method is quite useful for me, but not useful for potential buyers.
    When I export collections I want to simplify the names.
    > Third, the rename editor is pretty flexible.
    Yes I know, usually it is sufficient, but in this case it does not do what I want.
    > Finally, all the metadata is there, and searching is much easier via it rather than a complex naming convention
    > (not that it's so complex, but getting there may be.
    Not sure I completely agree here.  My naming method works quite well for organising images and for processing and so on.
    Now since I have collections spanning multiple directories and so that I want to export the files with a simplified filename.
    I expected to be able to do this using the file name editing template.
    The BreezeBrowser renamer is much more flexible than the Lightroom filename template editor, so I may end up using that.
    However it will be messy and add a few extra steps. i.e. export to a new directory using the existing filename.  Then use Breezebrowser to rename the files by extracting the "file number suffix" from the original filename and making sure there is sufficient information in the new filename to create a one-to-one mapping.  Then upload the new files to the website.
    I stil don't see how to get the original file name into the metadate of the new filename though?l
    Really I should be able to do all this in Lightroom.

  • Can't visualise text on PDF files exported from PS

    PDF files exported from PS (levels included as we need them to be selectable) have corrupted text. When opening the saved pdf file, a part of text doesn't appear. It is usually starting from the second chapter of text. Any idea of how to solve this problem?

    Hi Marco,
    For now we have only fixed this in CC, but we are aware this problem also affects CS6 users and is a significant problem for many people. At this time, I don't know of any workaround in CS6 for this bug other than to break text up into smaller blocks or use another more text-oriented application like InDesign. While I can't comment on future releases, your feedback on this issue is important to us, and I can say, "there's always hope"...
    If you'd like to discuss this further, or send us a file that exhibits the problem, please contact me directly. My email address is my last name @ adobe.com.

  • PE4 File Export giving wrong field order

    In PE4, when I execute File-Export with the following settings:
    General/File Type: Microsoft DV AVI
    Video/Compressor: DV PAL
    Keyframe and Rendering/Fields: Upper Field First
    It creates the AVI OK, but GSPOT shows that the AVI is Lower Field First, not Upper Field First as specified in the settings.
    Why?  Is this a bug or does selecting DV force LFF (if so, then why isn't the UFF option greyed out in the settings?).
    What I am trying to do is create some smaller sub-projects in the form of AVI's, which I will eventually import into a final large project.  The source files for the subprojects are mpgs from an HD camcorder, so they are Upper Field First (UFF), and so I am using the PAL Harddisk project preset, which expects source files to be UFF.
    Since my final project will include both UFF mpgs and those AVI subprojects, I want the AVIs to be UFF also, so that I don't have to selectively reverse field orders etc.
    Is this wrong?
    Thanks
    Dave

    ==> "You can even use Premiere Elements for the conversion by applying field order reversal and then exporting to DV-AVI."
    Splitting hairs I know, but again to clarify for me:
    For the initial conversion to DV-AVI, if I start a project in PE4 with a UFF preset, bring in my UFF mpgs, then export to DV-AVI (WITHOUT applying field order reversal), is this doing the same as what you suggest?  That is, in this case, the field reversal is taken care of by PE4 behind the scenes because I told it to do so by using a UFF preset?  Or do I still need to manually reverse the fields?
    Sorry to be dense, but there seems to be many ways to do the same thing, and I'm trying to figure out the simplest and least error prone way to do it.

  • Lightroom and DxO: fix lens flaws in a TIF file exported from LR

    Hi,
    I'm in love with LR, I don't mind if people tell me that other Raw converter do a better job in demosaicing. Anyway some time ago a friend told me about DxO Optics Pro, I tried and loved the lens corrections. I thought I could prform those correction at the end of my workflow on a Tiff file exported from LR to DxO. No way! It seems that DxO doesn't recognize the lens used to shoot the image. It seems that LR and Camera Raw delete all the infos related to optics used. Any help would be appreciated.
    Bye!

    I used the following command to swap exif data:
    exiftool -all= -tagsfromfile DSC_0002.NEF -exif:all DSC_0009-2.tif
    The TIF file contais less exif tags than the NEF (or DNG) file, and there is no tag about the lens used.

  • Settings Get Zeroed out after File Export

    I just noticed that out of a group of about 110 JPGs I was editing tonight, about 5 of them had their Develop Settings zeroed out after I exported the files.
    Examples:
    1.  One file's Fill Light went from 14 to 0 after File Export.
    2.  Another file's Fill Light went from 17 to 0 after File Export.
    3.  Still another file's Black went from 3 to 0; its Brightness went from +5 to 0; it's Contrast went from -1 to 0....all 3 things on the same file zeroed out.
    4.  Still another file's Black went from 1 to 0, and its Contrast went from -3 to 0.
    5.  Another file was rotated by .28.  After exporting, the rotation in the history went from .28 to 0.
    One other problem I saw with at least 2 of these files (different than the 5 above), I had created virtual pictures for these 2 and exported them as TIFFs to Photoshop CS3.  After the TIFF file was updated with CS3, it automatically was reimported to LR.  There is no "Import" listed in the history, nor is there any "Created Virtual Copy" in the history.
    I don't think I'm doing anything wrong; again, there have only been 5 out of about 110 JPGs for which as happened.

    I think I have that box checked, but I'm not sure where to find it.  I seem to recall having checked something like this before, but, again, I just can't
    seem to find where it is.  I've checked in Preferences and do not see it, as well as other places.
    Anyway, I do not export files to CS3 very often, but I know that every time I do, the edited file gets added back into the LR Catalog when I close out the file in Photoshop CS3.  I typically export these files to CS3 keeping the LR adjustments.
    I originally had this set of images sorted by File Name.  I did that because within this set are pictures taken from 2 different cameras, with two completely different types of file names.  I wanted only to work on the images from one camera at a time.  While sorted by File Name, the edited file does get added to the Catalog, stacked upon the original file....so, yes, they are side by side.
    I did try sorting by Capture Time, but that didn't make any difference.
    Because my other problem of settings being zeroed out appeared to be "fixed," I was hoping this problem also would be fixed.  But when I tried the same procedure as last night (only with the files sorted by Capture Time instead of by File Name), the same thing happens...there is no "Import" listed in the History panel.
    What has been "fixed," however, is that for those few files that I made a Virtual Copy of, the History panel now shows "Create Virtual Copy."  I did not do anything to these files.  Perhaps the reboot of my computer fixed this.  I really don't know.
    As mentioned, I do not export files very often to CS3, so this problem may have always existed (not showing "Import").
    Thanks for your reply....I'll watch for more in the future, but because the problem happened again this morning, I think it is perhaps a software bug.

  • File Export use last usage settings of File Export Wizard

    how convert a color photo to grayscale? cs6 fireworks / adobe cloud,...    File > Export use last usage settings of File > Export Wizard???

    There are a lot of different ways to create greyscale images. Here are three methods:
    Select the bitmap and choose Commands > Creative > Convert to Grayscale.
    This is a quick but destructive method, meaning that it modifies your original image. To preserve your original image, you could first make a copy using the Edit > Clone command.
    Select the bitmap and apply a Hue/Saturation effect.
    This effect can be found in the Properties panel within the Filters menu, under Adjust Color. Set Saturation to -100.
    Select the bitmap and apply the Convert to Alpha effect.
    This effect can be found in the Properties panel within the Filters menu, under Other. Set the document canvas to White.
    At least one of these should work for you.
    Unfortunately, I can't quite understand the portion of your question regarding File > Export and the Export Wizard. If English is not your native language, you might try using Google Translate to compose your question.

    Please help...

    Back up all data. Don't continue unless you're sure you can restore from a backup, even if you're unable to log in.
    This procedure will unlock all your user files (not system files) and reset their ownership and access-control lists to the default. If you've set special values for those attributes on any of your files, they will be reverted. In that case, either stop here, or be prepared to recreate the settings if necessary. Do so only after verifying that those settings didn't cause the problem. If none of this is meaningful to you, you don't need to worry about it.
    Step 1
    If you have more than one user account, and the one in question is not an administrator account, then temporarily promote it to administrator status in the Users & Groups preference pane. To do that, unlock the preference pane using the credentials of an administrator, check the box marked Allow user to administer this computer, then reboot. You can demote the problem account back to standard status when this step has been completed.
    Enter the following command in the Terminal window in the same way as before (triple-click, copy, and paste):
    { sudo chflags -R nouchg,nouappnd ~ $TMPDIR.. ; sudo chown -R $UID:staff ~ $_ ; sudo chmod -R u+rwX ~ $_ ; chmod -R -N ~ $_ ; } 2> /dev/null
    This time you'll be prompted for your login password, which won't be displayed when you type it. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you don’t have a login password, you’ll need to set one before you can run the command. If you see a message that your username "is not in the sudoers file," then you're not logged in as an administrator.
    The command will take a noticeable amount of time to run. Wait for a new line ending in a dollar sign (“$”) to appear, then quit Terminal.
    Step 2 (optional)
    Take this step only if you have trouble with Step 1 or if it doesn't solve the problem.
    Boot into Recovery. When the OS X Utilities screen appears, select
    Utilities ▹ Terminal
    from the menu bar. A Terminal window will open.
    In the Terminal window, type this:
    res
    Press the tab key. The partial command you typed will automatically be completed to this:
    resetpassword
    Press return. A Reset Password window will open. You’re not  going to reset a password.
    Select your boot volume ("Macintosh HD," unless you gave it a different name) if not already selected.
    Select your username from the menu labeled Select the user account if not already selected.
    Under Reset Home Directory Permissions and ACLs, click the Reset button.
    Select
     ▹ Restart
    from the menu bar.
