Best guidance for WCF instance management

i read about instance management from this article http://www.tutorialspoint.com/wcf/wcf_instance_management.htm
but still do not understand when one should go for per call , per session and single instance management.
suppose i will develop wcf service which will be consumed by 1000 client and every time traffic will be huge and also few function could be there in my service which may take long time to return response. so guide me which instance mode i should choose.
thanks

Hi Mou_kolkata,
According to this case, I have shared the corresponding details below:
1.First of all, I just summarize the key points of instance management
(1) Per-Call Service :
default instance activation mode of WCF
every client request achieves a new dedicated service instance
memory consumption is less
(2) Per-Session Service :
Private or confidential session is maintained between the client and a particular service instance
the per-session service offers a new service instance which remains dedicated to each client request and autonomous of all the other instances
(3) Singleton Service :
all client requests independent to each other get connected to the same well-known single instance
it gets disposed only when the host closes down
2.For your case, I suggest you to apply singleton service .because your wcf service consuming more than 100 clients. This service is created just for once when the host is created. In case, the host is not provided with any singleton
instance, the service returns as NULL. The activation mode is at its best when the work amount in each method call is little and no pending operations are there in the background.
for configuration , set like below :
[ServiceBehavior(InstanceContextMode = InstanceContextMode.Single)]
class MySingleton : ...
Further guidance for service code,host code & client code, you can refer in that link is enough.

Hi - was looking to buy a macbook air soon but wanted to get it with lion software....anyone know when that is available and second question is what is best software for personal money management that works with lion.....use quicken now thanks

quicken should work with lion.
Quicken Essentials will work with Lion. Most people that have used Quicken for a while (i.e. Quicken 2007) have found that Quicken Essentials isn't much better than a basic spreadsheet. It is a significant step down from previous versions and does not offer many of the features previously offered. Right now, it seems like the two most common options are iBank and MoneyDance.
Frankly... this is a major opportunity for these companies. The largest commercial distributor of this type of product has been Intuit (Quicken). That makes it hard for any other company to get any of that market as so many people were already using Quicken and may have had years of data stored in it. Now, with Quicken effectively out of the picture, it's a great chance for another company. Just imagine if iPhones were suddenly off the market. That would give other manufacturers a tremendous opportunity since they wouldn't have to fight an up hill battle against a market giant.

• Best practice for multiple instances of the same BEX query

Hi there,
I'm wondering what's the best way to use multiple instances of the same BEX query. Let me explain what I mean:
I have a dashboard with different queries feeding different period of time such as: week to date, month to date and so on. One query for each since it is based on a user exit.
For each query I want to show different data in different sections of my dashboard. Per example: sales per directors or sales per customer group, sales per day, sales per week and the like.I tried to connect a simple bar chart via a direct connection but with no success due to the multiple lines generated by the addition of the sales director, customer group, week number and so on.
My question is about the way to connect the different queries efficiently in order to show the different data while avoiding multiple useless lines.
The image above shows the query browser where, per example, for a Month to date query there will be mutiple line for each week as well as one line for each director. If, for two different components, I want to show data per week and data per director or other representation what is the best practice:
Add another instance of the same query and only put the week information and another one will only the director info?
Should I bind those to the excel file and use formulas to make final calculations?
Will there be a performance issues for adding different instances of the same query
I have 6 different queries (read 6 user exit that filters time via user exit).
Depending on the best practices there might be 4 instances for each for a total of 24 instances in the query browser.
I hope my question is clear enough, if not please do not hesitate I'll clarify as much as possible.
Regards,
Steve

Hi Steve,
Might be trying for solution for a long time, If i understood your question clear let me clarify you few points.
You are trying to access the bex query which is designed with the exit's in the background based on the logic and trying to call the entire dimensions and key-figures in a single connection. Then you are trying to map those data in the charts.
Steve, try to make more connections based upon the logic and split them. use the same query but split them by sales per customer group, sales per day, sales per week by making three different connections and try. You can merge the prompts from all connections.
Hope this Helps!!!
Sorry if i misunderstood your question.

• Best pratices for RMAN backup management for many databases

Dear all,
We have many 10g databases (>40) hosted on multiple Windows servers which are backup up using RMAN.
A year ago, all backup's were implemented through Windows Scheduled Tasks using some batch files.
We have been busy (re)implementing / migrating such backup in Grid Control.
I personally prefer to maintain the backup management in Grid Control, but a colleague wants now to go back to the batch files.
What i am looking for here, are advices in the management of RMAN backup for multiple databases: do you guys use Grid Control or any third-party backup management tool or even got your home-made solution?
One of the discussion topic is the work involved in case that the central backup location changes.
Well... any real-life advices on best practices / strategies for RMAN backup management for many databases will be appreciated!
Thanks,
Thierry

Hi Thierry,
Thierry H. wrote:
Thanks for your reaction.
So, i understand that Grid Control is for you not used to manage the backups, and as a consequence, you also have no 'direct' overview of the job schedules.
One of my concern is also to avoid that too many backups are started at the same time to avoid network / storage overload. Such overview is availble in Grid Control's Jobs screen.
And, based on your strategy, do you recreate a 'one-time' Oracle scheduled job for every backup, or do your scripts create an Oracle job with multiple schedule?
You're very welcome!
Well, Grid Control is not an option for us, since each customer is in a separate infrastructure, and with their own licensing. I have no real way (in difference to your situation) to have a centralized point of control, but that on the other hand mean that I don't have to consider network/storage congestion, like you have to.
The script is run from a "permanent" job within the dba-scheduler, created like this:
dbms_scheduler.create_job(
job_name        => 'BACKUP',
job_type        => 'EXECUTABLE',
job_action      => '/home/oracle/scripts/rman_backup.sh',
start_date      => trunc(sysdate)+1+7/48,
repeat_interval => 'trunc(sysdate)+1+7/48',
enabled         => true,
auto_drop       => false,
comments => 'execute backup script at 03:30');and then the "master-script", determines which level to use, based on weekday from the OS. The actual job schedule (start date, run interval etc) is set together with the customer IT/IS dept, to avoid congestion on the backup resources.
I have no overview of the backup status, run times etc, but have made monitoring scripts that will alert me if/when a backup either fails, or runs for too long. This, in addition with scheduled disaster/recovery tests makes me sleep rather well at night.. ;-)
I realize that there (might be) better ways of doing backup scheduling in your environment, since my requirements are so completely different than yours, but I guess that we all face the same challenges in unifying the environments as much as possible, to minimize the amount of actual work we have to do. :-)
Good luck!

• Resolve Nodes - For Loop - Instance Manager Please Help

Hello,
I made a table in lifecycle designer that uses the instance manager to add rows.
I want to write code that will loop through each of the instances and perform a comparison. I would like the code to examine the index field. If the index field = 2, then return the value of the num amount field.
This is what I have tried so far and it does not work.
var
var
var
oFields = xfa.resolveNodes("Subform1[*].index1");
var
nNodesLength = oFields.length;
for     (var nNodeCount = 0; nNodeCount < nNodesLength; nNodeCount++)
if (oFields.item(nNodeCount).rawValue ==2)     {
form1.#subform[2].Table5.Row5.NumericField1.rawValue
= form1.Page1.Subform1.Capital1.Capital1.detail.numAmount.rawValue;}
break;

Here is a more lengthy definition of my problem. I hope someone can help.
1. I have a table that will allow the user to add rows when they click the plus button. Here is the code
----- form1.Page1.Table7.#subformSet[0].#subformSet[1].detailHeader2.Button2::click: - (JavaScript, client)
_detail.addInstance(this.parent.index);
//Invoke the recalculate method to include the field values from the added row in calculations.
xfa.form.recalculate(1);
2. The table also has a button to delete rows. Here is the code
----- form1.Page1.Table7.#subformSet[0].detail.Button2::click: - (JavaScript, client) --------------
// Invoke the Instance Manager to remove the current instance of the detail subform.
_detail.removeInstance(this.parent.index);
// Invoke the recalculate method to update the form calculations.
xfa.form.recalculate(1);
3. The table has a drop down list named txtPartNum and that allows you make a selection. Once you have made the selection a script populates other fields in the same row. The Drop Down list contains this code:
----- form1.Page1.Table7.#subformSet[0].detail.txtPartNum::initialize: - (JavaScript, client) ------
// Populate the part number Drop-down List.
partNoScript.populatePartNo(this);
----- form1.Page1.Table7.#subformSet[0].detail.txtPartNum::change: - (JavaScript, client) ----------
// Populate the description and the unit price when we change the part number.
partNoScript.getDesc(xfa.event.newText, txtDescription, numUnitPrice, index1);
4. The following script populates the following fields:
txtPartNum,
txtDescription,
numUnitPrice,
index1
----- form1.#subform[2].#variables[0].partNoScript::partNoScript - (JavaScript, client) ------------
// This script object controls the interaction between the part number, description and unit price fields.
// When you fill the partNo, partDesc and partPrice arrays, make sure they have the same number of array indices in
// each array i.e. for every part number, there should be a matching description and price.

• Best practice for limiting network management to few devices

Hello ,
I have set up a very basic security implementation that is no way realistic, but I just want to experiment and learn...
In my 1801 router that answers DHCP requests on separate wired and wireless vlans, I have bound static IP addresses to the MAC addresses of my laptop wireless and wired interfaces.
Then I set up an ACL to permit inbound traffic from these IPs only for the vty lines.
Obviously this is easily defeated by statically assigning these same IPs to any device on the network, so I was thinking about a better way to limit management of the router to a few devices.
What is the best practice in professional environments?
Thanks.

TACACs or RADIUS with robust password policy and regular interval to change the passwords (30 to 45 days).

• Best practice for highly available management / publishing servers

I am testing a highly available appv 5.0 environment, which will deploy appv packages to a Xenapp farm. I have two SQL 2012 servers configured as an availability group for the backend, and two publishing / management servers for the front end.
What is the best practice to configure the publishing / management servers for high availability? Should I configure them as an NLB cluster, which I have tested and does seem to work, or should I just use the GPO to configure the clients to use both
publishing servers, which I have also tested and appears to work?
Thanks,
Patrick Sullivan

In App-V 5.0 the Management and Publishing Servers are hosted in IIS, so use the same approach for HA as you would any web application.
If NLB is all that's available to you, then use that; otherwise I would recommend a proper load balancing solution such as Citrix NetScaler or KEMP LoadManager.

Hai,
Organizational Structure
Use
In order for the workflow system to establish the relationship between the requester and their superior, you must create an organizational plan in the system.
For this tutorial, of course, this organizational plan does not have to be complete and valid across the enterprise. To keep the test as simple as possible initially, define an organizational plan that only contains one administrator and one head of department.
Assign both items to yourself. As a result, all work items will appear in your own Business Workplace. Later you will modify the organizational plan such that you will have to work through the scenario with two users.
Procedure
The organizational plan required for this tutorial consists, when complete, of one organizational unit (= "department"), which contains two positions: a head of department and an administrator.
Each position is described by one job and each position is assigned one user as holder. The head of department position is also designated as chief position of the organizational unit.
Of course, a "real" organizational plan is created by arranging several organizational units with their positions in a hierarchy. Usually several positions are described by one job.
For further information, refer to the documentation Organizational Plan.
The procedure in this unit is divided into four parts:
1. You create an organizational unit.
2. Enter necessary jobs as required.
3. You create a position for the head of department in the new organizational unit.
You define a position in three steps:
i. You create a position that is assigned your organizational unit.
ii. You assign a holder to the position.
iii. You assign a job to the position.
3. You create a position for the administrator in the organizational unit.
Creating an organizational unit
1. Choose Tools  SAP Business Workflow  Development Definition tools  Organizational Management  Organizational plan  Create.
2. Confirm the validity period proposed in the dialog box Creating a Root Organizational Unit.
This takes you to the Create Organization and Staffing (Workflow) screen. This user interface is divided into four screen areas:
3. On the Basic Data tab in the details area, enter an abbreviation and a name in the Organizational unit input fields.
Abbreviation: <ini_sales>
Name: <OrgUnit: Sales (ini)>
4.     Choose  .
You can now create the position for a head of department and one administrator.
Create jobs
When enhancing an organizational unit, the necessary jobs are usually already available. For this tutorial however, you create the necessary jobs for head of department and administrator yourself.
1. Choose Edit  Create jobs.
You go to the dialog box Create jobs. The lower area contains a list of existing jobs and the upper area contains an input table in which you can create new jobs by entering abbreviations and names.
2. In the input table, enter an abbreviation and a name for each of the new jobs.
Job - head of department:
Object abbreviation: < ini_dhead_C >
Name: < job: head of department (ini) >
Job administrator:
Object abbreviation: < ini_admi_C >
Name: < job: administrator (ini) >
3.     Choose  .
Creating Position for Head of Department
1. Change to the overview area in the staff assignments of the organizational unit, in order to assign positions, jobs and holders. Choose the arrow on the right next to the and then the staff assignments (list).
2.     Choose  .
A new position is then created in the staff assignments and is displayed in a new line in the table. The position is vacant and no job is assigned to it.
3. Open the details view for the new position in the details area by double-clicking on the entry in the table.
4. On the Basic Data tab, enter a code and a description in the Position input fields. Overwrite the previous contents.
Abbreviation: < ini_dhead_S >
Description: < position: head of department ( ini ) >
Assigning a holder to the position
You now assign R/3 users to the positions. The staff assignments for your organizational unit are displayed and you see the vacant position in the table.
5. Select User in the search area and enter the search criteria in order to find your user names.
All of the user names that match your search criterion are listed in the selection screen.
6. Select your user name in the selection area and drag it to the Person/User column of the position in the overview area.
Confirm the message that the relationship period of the validity has been changed.
7. Set the Head of own organizational unit indicator in the details area.
Assigning a job to the position
Assign the job of the head of department you created earlier to the position.
8. Select Job in the search area and enter the search criteria in order to find the job of the head of department.
All jobs that match your search criterion are listed in the selection screen.
9. Select job: head of department ( ini) in the selection area and drag it to the Job column of the position in the overview area.
10.     Choose  .
The job is assigned the position. Check this by switching to the staff assignments of the organizational unit. Select the organizational unit in the overview area, choose the arrow on the right next to the and then the staff assignments (list). The newly created job is displayed in the job column.
Create position for administrator and assign holder and job
You are now in the staff assignments of the organizational unit.
1.     Choose  .
A new position is then created in the staff assignments and is displayed in a new line in the table. The position is vacant and no job is assigned to it.
2. On the Basic Data tab in the details area, enter an abbreviation and a name in the Position input fields. Overwrite the previous contents.
ID: <ini admiS >
Description: < position: administrator ( ini ) >
3.     Choose  .
4. Select User in the search area and enter the search criteria in order to find your user names.
5. Select your user name in the selection area and drag it to the Person/User column of the position in the overview area.
Confirm the message that the relationship period of the validity has been changed.
6. Select Job in the search area and enter the search criteria in order to find the job of the administrator.
7. Select job: administrator ( ini) in the selection area and drag it to the Job column of the position in the overview area.
8.     Choose  .
Result
Display your entire staffing schedule again and make sure that all the information listed is correct.
You can display a detailed view of jobs, users, and positions. Choose the relevant cell in the table by double-clicking it.
In the details view of a position or job, all of the assigned tasks are displayed on the Tasks tab.
You have now completed the first unit (defining the organizational plan). You can now start on the next unit. To exit processing of the organizational structure, choose Back.

So, I've been looking into consolidating and moving our servers and such to a colocation datacenter. A problem for me that arises from moving is, what do we do about our remote access?In a private office enviornment, I haven't ever opened up VMWare vCenter to the open internet, nor have I ever opened up DRAC/iLO past our firewall to the net. • The best way for creating Knowledge Management

Hi
I'm kind of new with Oracle portal, and I want to create some nevigator tree (kind of the menu appereance), each submenu is a topic which shows the realated text - troubleshooting about this topic
I was looking and read the tutorials and I could find how to do it.
I really appriciate if you can help me
Thanks

Hi,
I have tried something similar, but in HTML. I has to create a HTML Knowledge Management Intranet with a Navigator tree on the left frame that listed the topics - the user would click on the topic & would be shown a problem & the troubleshooting steps in the frame on the right. We decided to use HTML so that any of the Support Staff could update / maintain it at a later stage with minimum effort & training.
You could try to use some kind of a JavaScript tree - the best I have seen is this :-

I haven't checked it out on Portal - but, ultimately everything gets translated to HTML & I am sure it would work.
Good Luck,
Sandeep
