Can excel slicers and power chart be embedded into a pdf  and being interactive?

Hi,
Create a data dashbord using powerpivot and slicers, is that possible to convert it to a pdf?

No, you cannot convert to from Excel to PDF and retain any of that type of interactivity that's available in Excel.

  • Can a PDF be "embedded" into another PDF, and still be its own layer?

    HI. I work with a software company that manipulate PDFs files, placing PDFs into other PDFs resulting in a combined file.
    what my question is, is the finished combined PDF file simply 1 big PDFs full of individual elements, or are the elements still relating to their own virtual pdf within the combined PDFs?
    MY feeling is the combined PDFs is simply a big fish tank full of fish, and if another fish tank was to be emptied into it, it all merges into one. At least that is the way I see it. all fish a simply a part of the overall fish tank!
    i Ask this as "a colleague" is telling clients otherwise and I would like to correct him.
    oh, we use itext as the tool to manipulate pdfs.
    cheers

    Thanks for the reply. I understand my wording was misleading.
    What we are doing is taking a single page base PDF file, containing 10 elements for example, and using our own software (with help from iText) adding other page elements on the same page. Most of the time these elements are just text, or the odd image, but sometimes, we may be placing a PDF Logo on the same page. The resulting PDF seems to be a single page, containing 10+  elements of equal hierarchy, with no reference to the source PDF file that was used for the logo. Also looking at the Layers panel, There is no information here.
    Are you saying then that there may be references to some of the elements based on the source PDF file?
    Cheers

  • How can I embed a video with absolute path into a PDF

    I'm having some difficulties in embedding a video into a pdf; I followed the instructions to embed it properly, but the path points to my personal computer , so that the video will be available only on the computer I used to embed the document.
    Any suggestion? Can I modify the path directly? The PDF is supposed to be linked to another interactive PDF and to work both online and offline.
    Thanks!

    Thanks for the reply. I tested the file on other computers, though, and it doesn't open the video on any computer but mine (mine: the one I used to embed the video).
    Am I doing something wrong? I'm using Acrobat X and the procedure I'm following is: Multimedia/Add Video/Choose file
    I searched for manuals online and I saw that some of them were checking the box "embed file", but I don't have that choice..
    Maybe I'm supposed to use another version of acrobat?

  • Can i receive XML via a web service into the PDF form??

    hi all,  I am able to send data to a server via a web service configured in my email submit button.  Once the data has been received on the server, a reference number is sent back.  My problem starts here as the reference number comes back into my browser and not back into the PDF.  How can i get the reference number into the PDF?  Thanks  J

    Thank you very much for your help.
    I have another question if you don't mind.
    I am trying to establish a WSDL in ALCD. I establish the connection successfully and
    in return i receive predefined objects such as 3 numeric fields and a button.
    I drag these objects onto a new form and try to execute but nothing happens.
    The first 2 objects are supposed to accept input, send it via WSDL to a server that should return
    a new value back to another predefined object when the button is clicked.
    I have not response when the button is clicked. It is as if there is not connection at all.
    If i try and change the button to a submit button and enter the WSDL manually it tries to connect but fails.
    The WSDL does work if I test it using soapUI.
    Would you have any idea why this is not working?
    Thanks
    Joey

  • InDesign CS6 - Can you add Google Walking Tour into a PDF document or interactive pdf?

    Hello,
    I am trying to figure out how to add a Google Walking tour into my pdf document. I tried using the HTML feature in InDesign CS6 but all i get is a static image of a map. Acording to the features of InDesign this should be working correct? Please let me know if this is possible or not. Thank you!
    this is an example of the kind of a tour i am talking about:
    https://www.google.com/maps?q=churchill+downs+apartments&ll=39.668589,-104.889007&spn=0.00 7325,0.016512&sll=39.669082,-104.889653&layer=c&cid=6959793594299031036&panoid=xDKaTZWvSuU KbJAQUvKKcA&cbp=13,304.18,,0,0&hq=churchill+downs+apartments&t=m&z=17&cbll=39.66918,-104.8 90121
    I've copied the HTML that Google provides for embeding but no success yet. Thanks!

    That will work in DPS, but not, AFAIK, in PDF.

  • UPK:  Can it create a .swf file for embedding into Articulate?

    We are combining a policy and systems training course. The policy part of the course is built in Captivate and the Systems part of the course is built in UPK. I am able to easily embed the Captivate Policy section into Articulate, but am struggling with the UPK Systems section. It appears that I can insert it as a web object, but that requires server access by our learners and it opens in a seperate window that the learners will have to close as IE won't auto close.
    If UPK could output a .swf file, or if there was some way to convert the player.exe or topic.odtpc files to a .swf file, that would be great...any suggestions?

    Hello,
    Many UPK customers are using their existing Flash content in the concept frames for topics, sections, and modules. This is quite easy to do. Since Flash content on its own isn't very easy to deploy, Adobe Flash has the option to create HTML pages that act as a "home" for the SWF files generated. You'll need to use these HTML files when you copy your Flash content into a UPK package. Once you have all of the files and folders created with the Flash content in a package, all you need to do is create a link to the main HTML page. I don't have Flash or Captivate installed, so I cannot provide exact steps, but I hope this helps.
    EDIT: Oops! I just realized that I misread your question. I'm not familiar enough with Captivate or Articulate, but UPK can be treated like a collection of web pages. The UPK web pages require all the folders that come along with the published player as they contain style information in CSS files and more advanced stuff in Javascript files. If you can pull in all of the UPK files and folders, it should be possible to link to specific topics per the steps described in the UPK product documentation, specifically Content Deployment.pdf.

  • Embedding Fonts Into A PDF

    Hi There,
    I'm having trouble sending my files to the printers, my fonts is jumping...
    How do i make sure that my fonts are embedded into my PDF file,
    I'm using indesign cs5.5 Please can someone help me, I have distiller as well.
    Thank You
    Kind Regards

    Can you check one of your problematic PDFs with Acrobat? Go to the Document Properties dialog and check the "Fonts" tab. That way you can verify if your fonts are embedded.
    It's really straightforward: where Acrobat does *not* tell you a font is "(Embedded)" or "(Embedded subset)", that font is missing.
    If you find you are creating files without embedding all fonts, you need to review your workflow. As I said above, you might have switched off InDesign's warnings for this.
    Bear in mind it's also possible your PDFs are fine and it's your printer that needs to update.

  • JPEG files embedded into PDF

    Hi,
    We know that the JPEG files suffer from a destructive process as we make changes to them and save the file several times; just the act of opening a JPEG file and saving it results in a loss of data and quality, due to its nature, right?! So, what I'd like to know is: does the JPEG files that are embedded into a PDF [like an ebook, for example] have the same behavior of loosing quality? I mean, in some cases we need to make changes on a PDF [creating notes, highlights, etc] and this demands saving the file over itself several times.
    I have a lot of photography ebooks, but I'm afraid of creating notes on them because I don't wanna end up with a lot of ebooks with poor quality images after some time. Does anyone know if this proceeds? Thanks in advance.

    I've yet to encounter the PDF that absolutely HAD TO BE high definition.  Most I've read were license agreements, or tutorials, with "screenshots" at best. High def = big file size and the larger the PDF the more difficult it is to transfer (FTP or e-mail). You can put it on a site for download but if each person downloading it transfers 50-100Mb pretty soon you run out of bandwidth unless you own the server.
    If your only use is personal and you're not worried about stroage space (I'm getting 4Tb later this month and it will no longer be an issue ) The by all means leave them "as is". Acrobat Pro does allow saving as "large files" to preserve "most of" the integrity of HD images, but the more you save a PDF the more images will degrade, to certain extent. Eventually they can't be compressed any more, and it will level off, but... it sounds like that's not something you'll like. I have a few freinds who are "photo buffs" and they can't stand any file degradation in their pics. It drives one girl up the wall when I "save for web" to put stuff on her site, but she understands that she can't take the 10-15mb hit every time someone opens a picture to view in her gallery.
    Happy July 4th!

  • I've just upgraded to OS X Lion and can no longer access Power PC documents. Will iWork 08 open them?s

    Havig upgraded to OS X lion I have lost access to Power PC documents. Will iWork be able to open them?

    Documents are not "PowerPC" or "Intel" or even "AMD"
    Depending on what file format the documents are, you may find various programs that can open and edit them. But, without knowing what kind of documents they are, I'd have to guess if any of the iWork suite could open them. Pages can open Word .doc and .docx files. Numbers can open Excel .xls and .xlsx files. Keynote can open Powerpoint .ppt .pptx files. I don't know if they can open Appleworks documents, but I think I've seen positive remarks about that.

  • Can I  use excel type functions embedded into an online pdf form, ie Qty x Price= total $

    Can I use excel type functions embedded into an online pdf form, ie Qty x Price= total $

    Let me tell you what I am sure about and what I am not sure about:
    I am sure that I want to be able to sell my products online. The industrial market that I sell to usually do not allow the maintenance people that find me on the web, do not have the ability to use credit cards in a typical shopping cart format due to the higher prices that the equipment I sell costs and that most people call me up to 'request a formal quotation' to give to their purchasing depart. So, my bright idea is to create numerous pdf files with very specific url's to match the very specific items that I sell. (1) item per pdf. I am thinking that the advantage to skipping the shopping cart approach and allowing the customer to fill in the qty of items, which would be mulitpled by the price of the item (a constant #) and then hitting a apply button, that would calculate subtotal price. Discounts for the qty the customer inputs (qty of items inputted by customer would be discounted on a percentage x base price) and a refresh the screen. It would allow for SEO advantages from what I have seen in the past in my very vertical market. All forms would be setup using the same functionality, just images, alt text, urls, and readable text would change.
    What I don't know- which is alot, then how to calculate shipping costs. I have a weight per item, which can be added up. I saw an Adobe blog that allows UPS shipping cost to be programmed in. I don't know how dreamweaver works, which was what the blog mentioned would allow for this updated, instantanious interface with UPS and calculating real shipping costs to a specific zip code. Shipping cost would be fluff to this page. The main thing would be to do allow the customer to be able to fill in a qty of the specific item on the page, calculate a discount if / then type thing, be able to have customer email to purchasing dept or print. I would date stamp it with verbage that pricing is valid for XX days and if I could get a copy emailed to me that would be icing on the cake. I believe that this non static pdf would be something different then the current competion and that it would allow for 100's of quotes to be generated without customers having to wait 15 minutes to an hour for me to process the exact document that they are looking for.

  • How can one  read a Excel File and Upload into Table using Pl/SQL Code.

    How can one read a Excel File and Upload into Table using Pl/SQL Code.
    1. Excel File is on My PC.
    2. And I want to write a Stored Procedure or Package to do that.
    3. DataBase is on Other Server. Client-Server Environment.
    4. I am Using Toad or PlSql developer tool.

    If you would like to create a package/procedure in order to solve this problem consider using the UTL_FILE in built package, here are a few steps to get you going:
    1. Get your DBA to create directory object in oracle using the following command:
    create directory TEST_DIR as ‘directory_path’;
    Note: This directory is on the server.
    2. Grant read,write on directory directory_object_name to username;
    You can find out the directory_object_name value from dba_directories view if you are using the system user account.
    3. Logon as the user as mentioned above.
    Sample code read plain text file code, you can modify this code to suit your need (i.e. read a csv file)
    function getData(p_filename in varchar2,
    p_filepath in varchar2
    ) RETURN VARCHAR2 is
    input_file utl_file.file_type;
    --declare a buffer to read text data
    input_buffer varchar2(4000);
    begin
    --using the UTL_FILE in built package
    input_file := utl_file.fopen(p_filepath, p_filename, 'R');
    utl_file.get_line(input_file, input_buffer);
    --debug
    --dbms_output.put_line(input_buffer);
    utl_file.fclose(input_file);
    --return data
    return input_buffer;
    end;
    Hope this helps.
