Can't login to Azure from Visual Studio when creating new app.

Hi,
I already tried this at two different computers.
Install VS 2013
Get VS Update 2
Get VS Web Essentials
Get Azure SDK 2.3
Launch VS, Log-in with MSDN acc.
File-New Project - ASP.NET Web Application (pick MVC + Web API)
Use "Create remote resource - Web Site"
OK
Get asked for Azure login again (sigh..)..I log in.
Get error message: "Unable to create remote resource. 'One or more errors occured'" .. really? eh.. :D
Ok, so now i try the Manage Subscriptions link to check the azure account.
Nothing is there.so I guess I need to sign in again because my previous login got forgotten
I log inagain.
Get dialog with "The task argument contains no tasks. Parameter name: tasks"
Ok, no Azure for me I guess.
btw: I then logged into web Azure portal and noticed I am over the spending limit now, so my subscription was disabled, but if this is the case why I can't login to Azure from VS, then just tell me. Skip those unrelated (for me) error messages.

Based on your description, you have some issues when sign in azure from within Visual Studio, could you login successfully in IE? if all these fail, please contact with azure support, for this account issue, the support channel is the best choice, here

Can I use ReportViewer 2010 from Visual Studio 2013

I wish to use the 2010 version of the ReportViewer control on a Windows form. This is from within Visual Studio 2013. How would I do this?

Good idea. It did allow me add version 2010 to the Toolbox. You can see it as the second ReportViewer in the screenshot below.
But I can't drag it onto a form. It just appears down the end. Any idea why I can't drag it onto the form?

Can't see table data from Visual Studio Express 2013 for Web

I have a problem and I can't see neither the table data nor the table definition for my database inside Visual Studio Express 2013 for Web, Server Explorer. When I right click it just says refresh, copy or properies.
Does anyone know what's wrong?

According to your description, I make a test on my computer and I am able to reproduce your issue. Firstly, I install the Visual Studio 2013 express for web successfully, create a project and connect to SQL Server database. Then I right click one table,
and I can see all the options including ‘Show Table Data ’, ‘Open Table Definition ’, ‘Copy’, ‘Refresh’, and ‘Properties’. Next, I uninstall the SQL Server data tools, and restart the Visual Studio, right click on table, and only find the three options
‘Copy’, ‘Refresh’, ‘Properties’ as the following screenshot, which is the same scenario with yours.
Based on my test, the issue could be due to the missing or corrupt SQL Server Data Tools. To work around the issue, you should install the latest SQL Server data tools for Visual Studio 2013. You could download the
ISO file for SQL Server data tools and extract the ISO files to your hard drive following the methods in this
article, and install the data tools. Please restart your computer after you complete the installation.

I can't login to Store from my ipad2 when my Wi-Fi is working

It said "i can't login to iTunes Store", but my wi-fi connection is working. I can Online and I can see apps in the app store, however I cannot download any apps, please someone can help ? Thank you

I've been trying to update and install a few apps within the last hour with limited success. I'm inclined to believe the app store may be having some issues like earlier this month (2 June) with iPad installation of apps. I get "unable to connect to iTunes store" and my apps that need updating are blank squares that all say waiting. I'm pretty sure it will be fine in a few hours. There may be maintenance of some sort. My husband is having the same problem. I'm using an iPad 2, iOS 4.3.3 and he is as well.

HTMLDB Newbie: ORA-01658 error when creating new app or table from sprdsht

Hey there. I'm new to HTML DB and trying to create a new app (or even a new table) from a simple spreadsheet. I've tried both comma and tab delimited, but get the same error message every time. This is in my workspace on htmldb.oracle.com.
"ORA-20001: create_table error: ORA-20001: Excel load run ddl error: ORA-01658: unable to create INITIAL extent for segment in tablespace FLOW_693"

Thanks, but I don't think that's the problem. My workspace is 100Mb, and it's almost empty. I can install & run sample apps just fine, but not create a new app from a spreadsheet. The spreadsheet is small, to: nine columns and about 50 rows.
Any ideas?

FDM "Error: Can't authenticate user" when creating new apps

We are experiencing the above error when trying to create a new FDM application, and cannot seem to get past it. The details are as follows:
- FDM manages to create the folder structure on the server fine, so suspecting SQL or HSS permissions/provisioning
- SQL database is not created
- Creating the SQL database manually beforehand does not help either
- The EPM Admin experiences the same error!
- No FDM logs appear to have been generated in C:\Oracle\Middleware\user_projects\epmsystem1\diagnostics\logs\fdqm
We were able to create FDM apps fine at some stage, but cannot now for some reason. Please let me know if you have any suggestions.

On the FDM server, from the Start menu, go to All Programs --> Oracle EPM System --> Financial Data Quality Management --> Load Balance Manager --> Load Balance Configuration.
On both the Authentication Providers tab and the Application Servers tab, you should see at least one entry. If you do not see an entry on either of these tabs, enter the appropriate settings on each tab, then go to the General tab and enter the password for the DCOM account. If, on the other hand, the original settings are intact, just go to the General tab and enter the password for the DCOM account. If you enter the correct password and do not get an error, then this verifies that the DCOM settings have not been corrupted.

Can I remove admin permissions from main account then create new one?

I have heard that it is considered best practice to use an account that does not have administrator permissions for normal use, especially when connected to the internet for safety reasons. I am the only user of my Macbook and only have one account, the one that was created when I first used the computer. I obviously don't want to have to start all over again and so is there a way that I can safely create a new account, give it administrator permissions that I would use just for times when I need to make system changes and remove the admin permissions from my first account so that I don't have to migrate all my files and setting to a new user account?

Yes it is, for security reasons. When you log in as an administrator, everything you do, every command you run, runs with admin privileges. If you open a trojan or other malware as an administrator, you hand over much of your system to the malware. By running as non-admin, only the contents of your home folder are vulnerable.
Consider a trojan that modifies Safari, so that next time you make an online purchase, Safari captures your credit card number and sends it to a third party. If you opened that trojan as an administrator, the trojan could install itself without your knowledge. If you were running as non-admin, it would have been stopped in its tracks.
If you need any more convincing, you can read what Apple has to say about it:
Each user needing administrator access should have an individual administrator account in addition to a standard or managed account. Administrator users should only use their administrator accounts for administrator purposes. By requiring an administrator to have a personal account for typical use and an administrator account for administrator purposes, you reduce the risk of an administrator inadvertently performing actions like accidentally reconfiguring secure system preferences.
Unless administrator access is required, you should always log in as a nonadministrator user. You should log out of the administrator account when you are not using the computer as an administrator.

Just passing on my ipad to my girlfriend, i deleted my mail account, all contacts etc but when she using her account types a new email, she sees addresses if anybody i have ever written too

Suggest you setup as new before you pass it to her.
Settings>General>Reset>Erase all content and settings.

Can I downgrade from Visual Studio 2013 Ultimate to VS 2013 professional

Hi have a few licences of Visual Studio 2013 Ultimate and to keep it in line with our other users who have VS 2010 Pro
Am I ok to downgrade the licence from 2013 ultimate to 2010 pro.
The software hasnt been installed on any PC as yet, its just a case of if licensing allows us to downgrade version and edition

By the way, the two products are different. If you only bought the key for your Visual Studio 2013, I don't think you can use the same key in Visual Studio 2010.
Anyway, you can consult the license specialists to ask whether there is a account type for you so that you can use both the two products.

Release management with Azure and Visual Studio Online (Cloud TFS)

What strategy would you use to manage the releasing of versioned software to Azure cloud services (web and worker roles)? We are not looking for continuous integration. We are using Visual Studio 2013 and Visual Studio Online (Cloud TFS).
At one point, we were releasing straight from Visual Studio using the Azure Cloud Project Publish tool. This is really bad practice in my opinion as you can never be sure what you are really releasing. Additionally, there is no automated control on the labeling
or branching of code, or the running of unit tests and code analysis checks.
Next, we employed Release builds on Visual Studio Online. Before deployment, one would edit the appropriate Build Definition (whether it be for Test or Production by and filling in the code label (under the "Get Version" build property) that is to
be released. This would then get the appropriate code (by the label specified), build it, and release it to whatever cloud service is specified in the targeted Cloud Project profile (this is using the AzureContinuousDeployment.11.xaml template).
There is still a degree of manual intervention involved. Also, the fact that a version of code is built every time before it is released is not ideal (as far as I understand it would be better if it was packaged once).
Microsoft Release Management tools
look ideal for the job, but are not supported with Visual Studio Online.
Is there a better way of handling our releases?

/waves hand.. These are not the tools you seek. You are looking for continuous integration.
Although CI has the word continuous in there, it does not mean "all the time, every checkin". It can easily refer only to those bits you want to release - -and the way to tell the system which bits you want released is to merge them to a Releases
branch.
If you do this, not only do you get all the joy of controlled CI, but you guarantee what you release is exactly what is controlled in your SCM - under the Releases branch, preferably tagged or otherwise noted as a particular release. That means you can also
rollback to a previous release by simply reverting to a previous release in your SCM!
Of course you don't have to let it happen automatically, you can set it up to build 'continually' and then remove the check on the SCM to see if any changes have been committed. You can replace this with the manual build button.

SQLE_COMMUNICATIONS_ERROR while running SFA application from Visual Studio

Finally I fixed this issue.
I ran the SybaseServerSync.v35.CAB on the device emulator. Then tried the program. It worked. This helps establish the synchronization between the device and the SUP server. This CAB file can be located at the path <UnwiredServerInstallationLocation>\UnwiredPlatform\ClientAPI\RBS\WM\ServerSync.

I get this error "Error occurred in deployment step 'Retract Solution': The solution does not have a WSP file associated with it. " when deploying my project from visual studio 2010 to
SharePoint 2010 site. I tried restarting IIS, but it didn't help. This application used to work fine until the server crashed during the deployment process. All the other applications on the same server works fine also. Any ideas how to fix this issue?

Thank you for your posting!
According to your error message, it says your solution does not have a WSP file associated with it. Take a look at the file system. After you Right Click -> Deploy Solution on the VS Solution, there
should be a .wsp file at <Solution Directory>\bin\<debug|release>.
Also the error can be occurring when the developer try to deploy solutions over pre-existing solutions with material changed in the solution. Go to your Central Administration Site and then
Operations and then Solution Management. Make sure that there not already a solution with the same name deployed or installed there. If there is, remove it and try deploying again.
And you could look in logs and find if there is a below error in ULS log (C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\14\LOGS).

Calling CVI DLL Function from Visual Studio

Iv'e created a DLL using CVI and i'm tring to call one of it's function from visual studio 6.0
I'm getting a general error , is there a specific prototype that i need to set my functions in ordrer to call them ?!

You will need to distribute the CVI RTE along with your DLL, since anything you write in CVI is going to use the RTE.
As far as calling the DLL functions, you can use the CVI defined macros
<return type> DLLEXPORT DLLSTDCALL <function name> (<param1 type> <param1> ...) {
to declare your functions in the DLL for access by a VS application.
for example
int DLLEXPORT DLLSTDCALL myfunction (int funparam1, double func param2) {
There are options for identifying which functions to export from your DLL, I use "functions marked for export" but there are other choices available. I also include a type library so when you type the name of a DLL funciton in VS6 you see a balloon popup with the function signature. This is a check box in the target settings. You have to create a ".fp" file (function panel file) to collect the function info for the library.
From VB6 you can access the DLL a couple of ways, but I usually add the DLL as a reference.

Unable to connect Oracle 10g Express from Visual Studio Server Explorer

Please help me out here. I am connecting from Visual Studio 2008 to Oracle 10g Express Edition and the I have installed the ODAC 11 and the ODP.NET as well for Visual Studio(Both include Oracle Developer tools). But whenever I tried to connect from my Visual Studio 2008 server explorer so that I can have the database and its object there, I do get this error : "ORA-12560 : TNS: protocol adapter error."
The following is what I specified in my connection box:
DataSource Name: (Local Database)
Username : HR
Password: the password for it.
My OS is : Windows Vista Ultimate.
Please anyone who has solved such error should just help out here.

Thank you for your reply. I will like to know if you can use Visual Studio. In visual studio there is what we called Server Explorer and from there you can create connection and access all the database server from there. I am able to connect to the Oracle XE through the browser and I was able to crete table and other stuffs like that but when I tried to connect from Visual Studio 2008, I get the 12560 Error.
