Cannot start Cube Viewer under Linux

The following bug was found for Windows platform.
Do anyone have the patch for LINUX- SUSE. I have got the same problem under Linux but the patch is used for Window but it isn't any pacth for Linux there.
The below description ist the same as for UNIX.

symptom: An empty error window with a fire alarm symbol is displayed
cause: Running Oracle 9.2.0.1.0 Enterprise Edition with the OLAP option on
MS Windows.
In Oracle Enterprise Manager Console:
1. Startup the 9.2.0.1.0 Relational Database System.
2. In Enterprise Manager: Select subtree Warehouse + OLAP + Cubes + SH
3. Right-click on the COST_CUBE and select CUBE VIEWER from the popup menu.
Minimize the Oracle Enterprise Manager Console window to see the window that
is opened in the background. It says: "No materialized views have been
created for this cube ... Do you want to continue viewing the cube?"
=> select button "Yes".
Then the Oracle Enterprise Manager Cube Viewer starts loading. An error
window with a fire alarm symbol and with an OK-button appears. There is no
window title or error text displayed in the window.
Selecting the OK-button will close the cube viewer window and the 9.2.0.1
RDBMS instance is no longer running.

Apply the following 9.2.0.1 Oracle OLAP patch like described in the patch
readme file and reboot the machine (always create a backup before applying a
patch):

Patch/one-off 2323002 is not an issue with Linux. It addresses a bug on Windows 2000 & XP. Note that the Cube Viewer currently does not work with the SH Cubes. In short, there is an issue with support of denormalized snow flake schema. This will be fixed for Linux once the upcoming 9.2.0.2 patch set is released on MetaLink around Oct 4th.
Cube Viewer does require that the OLAPI jar files located in $ORACLE_HOME\olap\olapi\lib be the exact same version as the Database Server. So you may have to update the OLAPI jar files on the machine that is running Cube Viewer. Download from the Database Server the correct express*.jar file and copy it to the OLAPI lib directory. Another thing, you may be running into the bug where CV hangs while writing to the log file. To fix this problem, please email me and ask for the Cube Viewer zip. I'll send you some files and intstructions.

It is a stupid meanless message for the real issues. The users have suppress missing turned on on an intinal retrieve and nothing is returned. Turn off suppress missing in the options and the users should be fine.

Strange error when start cube viewer

i have been installed the BIBdemo succesfully, and run the cube viewer, after that i create a cube on my schema and (by creating a collection from owb9.2 and executing it directly in the db from birdge,after that the cube viewer didn't work correctly for BIBdemo ,and error message is there is errors in the dimensions of my cube ,i didn't understatnd what the relation between the two schemas,my schema and bibdemo schema ,after that i dropped my cube from enterprise manager , and the error remains the same when iam tring to run the cube viewer for bibdeom cubes), please i need a cwm statments to clear any metadata for my cubes and dimensions.

Just for the benefit of anybody running into similar surprising difficulties: it is, in my case, a sniffer-problem.
For determining the client browser's java-vendor from the applet, I used an old trick that used to work pretty well. The relevant part is where the vendor is SUN, but a distinction must be made between SUN java on SUN machines and SUN-java in MSIE. This is done as follows:

The point is that the java-error is correctly caught (so the end result is as desired), but not the Javascript error that is generated external to the applet by the eval-command. So that is what triggers that error-popup in MSIE6, which does not have any consequences apart from being a nuisance.
Why older MSIE-versions don't seem to mind and ignore the error escapes me, and is not a very intersting question anyway. The thing is just to replace the "statusbar" test by something not involving Javascript.
One more reason to avoid using javascript for such purposes anyway is that Apple cannot make heads or tails of livewire (applets tapping into javascript).

Cannot start Discoverer Viewer and Discoverer Plus on client.

Siebel 8.0, cannot start Siebel Server in Linux 5.1

Hi there,
I am trying to install Siebel 8.0 on an AWS cloud server, using Linux 5.1. It is 32-bit with 1.7 GB of RAM. My Db is Oracle 11g, located on another server (necessary to free up the limited amount of RAM). I can sqlplus and odbcsql ok to it. For some reason, however, I am unable to get the Siebel Server to start properly.
When I log into srvrmgr ( srvrmgr /e SBA_80 /g siebel:2320 /u sadmin /p sadmin), it connects, but shows the siebel server is unavailable:
srvrmgr> list servers show SBLSRVR_NAME, SV_DISP_STATE, INSTALL_DIR

Does anyone know if Siebel 8.x can be installed in this Linux 5.1 environment? If so, any suggestions why Siebel Server is unavailable? Also, when we run evt (for both installs, I believe), we get a critical error to upgrade the OS to 2.6.5-7.97-bigsmp. What does this mean, and how serious is it?

Hello all,
I was eventually able to get the install to work with Siebel 8.1. I believe there may have been some compatibility issues with 8.0 and our AWS Linux environment. When I ran 8.1, I was eventually able to get thru all the installs and connect to my Siebel server.
Memory was also an issue, since 1.7 GB is all that's available for a 32-bit machine. We resolved this by putting Oracle Db on another AWS image.
A few issues that I ran into and what I did that worked for me:
- used sadmin/sadmin for High/Low users, for some reason my custom users didn't work for me.
- updated LD_LIBRARY_PATH often! I set it before install process, and after running any siebenv.sh scripts:
LD_LIBRARY_PATH=$ORACLE_HOME/lib:$LD_LIBRARY_PATH

Problem with Cube Viewer

i am using OEM with the Oracle 9.2.0.1.0.
If i try to start Cube Viewer i will get a black Screen and after a minute i will get an alert without error message.
I found a Patch 2323004 which only be used for Windows not for Linux Suse.
The process is as follows:

One-off 2323002 is not applicable for Linux. It addresses a bug in the OLAP API due to differences in the behavior of memory management system services between Windows platforms.
As for your Cube Viewer problem, please make sure your OLAPI jar files found on the client match those on the server/database. You can find them at $ORACLE_HOME\olap\olapi\lib directory. Copy the database express*.jar files to the client OLAPI lib directory. Cube Viewer is based on the OLAP API.

Problems capturing audio under linux

Hello. I have developed an application that captures audio using the Audio API of JFM. The problem is when I start capturing audio under Linux (all the audio devices are well configurated), the JVM returns the following error:
java.lang.IllegalArgumentException : Illegal request to write non integral numbre of
frames (13107 bytes)
The piece of code that causes the error is :
while(!stop) {
numBytesRead = inputLine.read(data,0, data.length); bufferoutput.write(data,0,
numBytesRead); }
where inputLine is a TargetDataLine.
Under Windows this runs OK. Anyone know why not under Linux?

Cube Viewer: OLAP sess_iiop connection problem...

I am having a problem with the Olap Cube Viewer within OEM. I'm not sure where to post this, so it ends up here, as Cube Viewer is a part of the OEM.
I am running Oracle 9.0.2.1 on Solaris 2.8.
My problem is:
When I try to start Cube Viewer to view any of the sample cubes, I get the following error:
"Cube Viewer was unable to connect to the OLAP Service using the 'sess_iiop://<myserver>:2481:/etc/OLAPServer/<myserver>:OLAPServer' connection string."
The action mentioned in the error-dialog is:
1 Make sure Olap server is running on host '<myserver>'
It is running, I am able to connect to it with OLAP Services Instance Manager, and it shows a green light.
2 Make sure that the Olap Service is registered as 'sess_iiop://<myserver>:2481.....'
I am unable to find out from the doc's how to check this. I guess its hidden somewhere in a config file?
Olap was installed "out-of-the-box", and to my knowledge I haven't done anything to change it.
Let me add that I experience similar errors from Jdeveloper when I try to create BI Beans presentation objects against the server.
Can anyone help me sorting this one out? Help would be very appreciated.

I have later found a thread (http://forums.oracle.com/forums/message.jsp?id=1106773) thread here in the OLAP forum,
which resemble my problems, so I've tried the suggestions there as well:
1. Deleting rows from OLAPSYS.OS_CHILD_INSTANCES ..
I find one row, containing data in all columns except IS_DEFAULT_INSTANCE, which is blank.
I tried deleting this row, and the restart the olap services (olap start), but still same problem in Cube Viewer.
2. JVM context..
I connect using sess_sh as sys, the /etc/OLAPServer node does not exist, so I create it:

We have been trying to set up some new ones for testing purposes, and I can't guarantee that we know what we're doing....;-)

It really sounds like you should post your issue with Oracle Support Services on metalink.oracle.com. Anyhow, two configuration parameters are used. Both are required:
OLAPI/SessionIIOPService: the URL-like "sess_iop://.." string, which is supposed to specify the server on which the Oracle CORBA Naming Sevrice is running. OLAPI/SessionIIOPContext: a path in the namespace.
I believe the context that is used in a production environment is /etc/OLAPServer.
Look for the name of the service in the path. The default name is <host>:<instance name>, and I think the default instance name is "OLAPServer".
There is a Java utility called "sess_sh" that you can use to check out the namespace. Here is the text of a PC batch file to use to browse around. Once you get to the "$" prompt, you can use Unix-like "ls" and "cd".

Moved my library to an external hard drive. Now I get this message when trying to import video: Cannot start ingest because there is no storage location set. Please set one under Storage in Preferences and try again.

I recently moved my iMovie Library and all of its contents to an external hard drive. I then erased the library and all of its contents from my iMac HD and created a new library. Now when I try to import video from my DV camera I get this message: Cannot start ingest because there is no storage location set. Please set one under Storage in Preferences and try again. There is no way to set a storage location in Preferences. I have chosen an Event in the middle drop down box. But it still will not import. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

My iTunes library is set up the way I said in the top post and works totally fine.
Yes, and that is the default structure to which I was referring. iTunes will organize it that way automatically unless people do start changing settings (in which case they should know what they are doing and how iTunes works with library files and media structure.)
Both ways work, the advantages of mine would be that should iTunes try looking fo a library, it will always be in the default location.
It makes people think they have to change media location in preferences. They do not unless they want to relocate media only and leave other things on their internal drive (in which case there is no point in copying library files to the external, and you certainly wouldn't want to then delete them from your internal).
Downside is that then should someone move their iTunes library to anther computer they need to remember to get those library files on the external hard drive.
Just copy the whole iTunes folder and it will get the library files to the other drive in one step, along with all the other files.
Your post has good stuff but it makes a move appear intimidating and look like people have to do a lot of organizing to move the collection. It also throws in extra steps (namely altering preference settings) that could cause confusion or even make a mess of things. If people leave iTunes to default preference settings (which most people do) the move summarizes into a short line: Copy a folder and hold an extra button the next time you start iTunes.
Note that the instructions in the link I provided earlier do also include many steps, but those are to ensure that everybody does have it all organized correctly before simply copying the iTunes folder. In the end it is just a simple action.

Cannot install JMF under Linux Mandrake 10

I simply cannot install JMF under the Mandrake 10 Official Linux distribution. I downloaded the jmf-2_1_1e-linux-i586.bin file and tried to execute it as root. It unzipped some files then showed me an error message about AWT and GTK+. I found a hack consisting of modifying the .bin file to have the PATH variable point to SUN JDK, the error does not show up, but the installation still does not work. In fact, the installation works, but the Diagnostics applet keeps telling me than class files are not present. My Mozilla 1.6 Java plugin is working and displaying the applet. My JMF lib directory does not contain sound.jar, such jmf.jar. I set the CLASSPATH and LD_LIBRARY_PATH according to the readme.html file. I would like to know if it is a compatibility problem with Mandrake 10, the 2.6 kernel or if JMF just DO NO work under Linux. In the latter case, JMF is a violation to the Java portability philosophy and I would never use it on my own initiative, just if I were asked to.
After the files are unzipped, I have the following warning and error messages.

Even if I do not have a working video capture card (I have an ATI All-in-Wonder 128 but it is not working under 2.6 kernel), JMF should work because some people do not have a video capture card. I also tried with the cross-platform ZIP file, but this one does not contain sound.jar either and the Diagnostics applet keeps complaining about missing class files. I tried to search on the Web for solutions to this problem or for a way to change the CLASSPATH used by the Mozilla Java plug-in (if it uses a different CLASSPATH than the one from the environment variable), but nothing, nothing. Is there a distribution from which JMF would work better than Mandrake 10? Or can JMF work only under Microsoft Windows or Sun Solaris? I also tried Blackdown, but a README file directed me to the Sun's page, nothing to download here about JMF.

well, your not the only one.
I have it working in Debian, and JDS.(JMF is setup automatically in JDS).(2.6.6 kernel)
I looked at the installation structure of JDS, and was able to duplicate what they did for Debian.
Maybe it will work for Mandrake two??
ok, all you have to do is copy or create soft links from your Mozilla directory, just like you did with the java plugin, and link to all the *.so files in JMF-2.1.1e/lib directory.
Should work.
I also read that not haveing the native files only matters if you are doing Capture. not play.
to get your ATI All-in-Wonder 128 to work, make sure you install the correct driver, and have it working under linux, then try it in JMSTUDIO

Start would be java -jar myjar.jar.
Stop could either be kill, which kills the whole process; kill -TSTP, which suspends the process, or some application-specific communication such as sending something over a port; or putting something into a file or something.
Restart could just be the same as start (if stop is just kill); kill -CONT, if stop was kill -TSTP; or some other app-specific communication.

When I open my Device Manager there is an /!\ next to NVIDIA nforce 10/100 Mbps Ethernet.
When I open it's properties there is a message under the Device Status stating:
"This device cannot start. (Code 10)"
It gives me the option to "Search for solutions" which has proven unsuccessful.
Also, I have the latest driver installed.

Hi,
Right click the device itself and select Uninstall. When this has completed, restart the notebook and let Windows re-discover the device and then check in Device Manager again.

Ts-l663b cd/dvd "device cannot start,code 10" after uppgrade from vista to windows 7 home

Hi,I've upgraded from Vista to Windows 7 Home and now the CD drive is missing and displays an error code"10" DEVICE CANNOT START, under Device Manager.
Looked for updated drivers on HP Support,there are none for CD drive.
Cannot roll back driver,greyed out.
Used Restore to revert back 2 months and still no progress. Removed recently installed software from HP(C5280) printer as well.
Immediately after upgrade,CD drive worked fine. Even loaded music into iTunes.
I'm at a loss. Any ideas?

Color saturation problem in Acrobat Reader 7.0.9 under Linux

Hi,
I'm working with a guy who is producing PDFs of my work with Indesign.
Using acrobat reader under Linux (version 7.0.1 and also 7.0.9), the colours in these PDFs always appear very saturated. This is a big problem for me because I cannot see with the reference viewer the results of PDFs to be sent to print.
I tried the same pdf file under OS X & Windows, it appears OK with Acrobat reader. Other free pdf readers under Linux also show the right colours (but not always the transparency ;-).
Does anybody has an idea to help me?
