Component as a configurable material KMAT?

Hello Gurus,
to be more clear with my question, I try to explain it by an example: A characteristic value assignment is made while busy with a sales order creation (VA01) for a configurable material SHOWER CUBICLE (material type KMAT). One of the characteristic is a Width/Height of a walls, so a value assignment of this characteristic can be 900/2000 for instant. After MRP execution, a BOM is exploded and all materials are determined by a super BOM. Every think is working out perfectly if a component u201CWALLu201D is managed by a class type 200. This means that there are defined beforehand all the material masters for each possible variants of component "WALL". In consequence a purchase requisition is generated for a specific material, in this example for a u201CWALL900X2000u201D.
My question is: To avoid to define and maintain the material masters for the variants, is it possible that I would define a component WALL as a configurable material KMAT? My tests show that a MRP can generate a purchase requisition for the material WALL (though it is KMAT), but without a value assignment taking over from a sales order. Very probably this is not a configuration issue, but I suppose I should use a user-exit or other functions to configure a component automatically? Which one?
Many thanks already in advance
Jari

Jari ,
you can put a configurable material inside a configurable material BOM.
and while configuring the salable product in sales order , you can assign value to lower level  KMAT.
depend upon procurement type of component procurement proposal will be created.
for question about refletion of values from sales order to PO created, you need to check have you set up all master data and dependancies correctly.
as you mention you are using class 200 , what i guess is you are using classes inside BOM instead of materials and value assigned to calss is selecting appropiate material.
check and come again.

    dar experts,
i hjave cerated a configurable materail with mat.type KAT.
now, i want another FERT material which shall be processed n dispatched to be attached with the configurable material.
so, need i have to define  my FERT material  also as configurable.
during batch search, only those materils should be picked up with the req. object dependancy.
    Rishi

    thanks for the mail.
after i create the FERT so in MRP3 view plant specific conifg. has to be mantained there.
also, CU41(create configuration profile) has to be created for the configured material or the FERT.
object dependency is created via. CU01 or CU21 that too for KMAT or FERT.
    plz. suggest

  • Pricing of configurable material

    Hi experts,
I want some help for following scenario.
Suppose I have one Configurable material as "A".
For which I require 10 multilevel items for manufacturing.
Each 10 multilevel items have 20 characteristics.
If I want to calculate price of my finish product "A"
by using different combination of multilevels and characteristics how would I maintain it in SAP.
I know I have to create Configurable material.
Some SuperBOM and maintain classification for this materil.
But where I get Price for these permitations and combinations for "A".
    What are the configurations?
If any one have any document related to this scenario please mail me on [email protected]
    regards,
    rb.

In Std SAP Configurable Material (KMAT type) is pure MTO and you cannot maintain any Standard price for it.
Depending on the Customer order(Sales Order) System will dynamically calculate the Price of product and all cost will be charged to that Sales Order.

  • Sales order costing for Configured Material (Material Variant Not KMAT Mat)

    Hi All
For a Configured Material (Variant) (Not KMAT Material), which is having Std price costed.
But if we create a Sales Order for the Configured Material, what options are availale to Execute Sales order costing and take the sales order value to COGS during Delivery.
The reason being Client wants to Cost BOM items are price which is different from the Price used in Std cost estimate due to Price Volatility.
I can understand we can do this in KMAT, but not sure how to do in Conifgured material. We can execute sales order costing and get Statistical cost value in EK02/EK01, but how to get this value posted during PGI..?
    Thanks
    Aravind

    Hi Ajay
Even if i maintain M in Valuation filed, my Material Variant HALB material is already having standard cost in its material master and it is picking the std cost during PGI Delivery and hitting COGS A/c.
Now how to get my sales order costing to real and post my sales order costing value to GI..this is the client requirement.
Due some complication KMAT is not used and logistics go with Material Variant

  • Configured material BOM table details requried for component list

    Hi PLM Experts,
As per the client requirement, we need to activate one sales condition type based on Super BOM components list. To define a logic for the above requirement, to list out the component we checked in STPO Table and in this table its appearing only the phantham materials not the real BOM of the component is appearing.
So can you please suggest the table name where i can find the Bill Of Material of my Finished Product (Configured material) in the Table level.
    Warm Regards.
    Velmurugan P

    Thanks Ajit.
But the problem still persist. The tables you have listed will suits for regular BOM compoents list. But we want to know the Table / procedure details in case of Configured material BOM details. Because for configured materials the BOM will be determined during sales order (Planned order) only.
This BOM of configured material won't get stored in the table you have listed. As per our requirement we are looking for table details where we can list out the components list to perform the additional charges in the sales order based on BOM.

    Hi,
Eg: Ford car.If a sale order is raised for fiesta lxi model the system should choose red colour & for vxi blue colour respectively.
ie you need to define the characteristic and assign the values .
This characteristic need to assigned to class.
class need to be assigned to material master
    1. T.code : CT04(characteristic) FORD_MODEL, Choose single value & entry required tab & give the input as 01 - fiesta_lxi & 02 - fiesta_vxi.( characteristic values)
    2.Tcode: CT04, FORD_BODY( another characteristic)
Choose single value , don't click entry required.
    01 - Red( characteristic values)
    02- Blue
    3. Create class T.code : CL02
    fiesta_class
    type : 300
    4. OBJECT DEPENDENCY:
    T.CODE : CT04
    FORD_MODEL
    CLICK VALUES TAB,
IN FIESTA_LXI CLICK THE 'O' meant for Obj dependency, action & extra.
    Edit the dependecy,
    010 $Self.ford_body = '01'. & save
Repeat the same for FIEST_VXI & instead of '01' give '02' for blue colour.
, then create a ROH as ford_body. & a KMAT material for the car. .
Then create a Super BOM with usage 3 & give component as ford_body
Then use T.code cu41 (Create config profile)
    enter a profile name & class 300 & choose class assignment, choose fiest_class ,
Use T.code cu50 to check the values.
    Then create a sale order.
    Pl. reward if helpful.

  • Copy BOM Component Characteristic value in material PR created by MRP Run

    Dear Gurus,
My requirement is I have materials like thread to maintain color characteristic i have create class - color- class type is 023 , now i want user should able to maintain characteristic value in BOM component (thread) of semifinish material.  FG , SFG  are not having any characteristic.
Now in PR and PO we can maintain characteristic value in Material Data --->Configuration tab , Configuration tab will come only when there is tick in material is configurable at material basic data 2 view of thread and in CU41 I have to maintain material for class type 300 - Variant , then in class assignment i have select class type 300 and 023 both and maintain class , both are having same characteristic please make me correct if i am doing wrong process, if i am not maintaining class assignment 300 in CU41, in manual PO system not allowing to enter characteristic value in configuration tab . so i maintain both class assignment 300 and 023.
Now for manual PR and PO system showing configuration tab and from PO configuration tab characteristic value is coming in MIGO automatically but when i am running MRP for finish material the auto PR generated by system for material thread is not showing configuration tab in Material Data of PR. I have maintain characteristic value in BOM --->Extra--->Batch Classification. Please guide me how to archive this.
    Thanks & Regards
    Akshay.

    Akshay kukde,
Still i am unable to understand the reason for maintaining a characterstic value for a batch through BOM, I hope you are not changing BOM for every purchase order ?
can you explain what you expect by maintaing this one value for batch characterstic?
you can have many other simple option like
    1) Create a material with colour included in it ex, Thread_red, Thread _green etc and use them in BOM
    2) Use text in BOM to hold this discription for colour
    3) Use batch management, class 023 in material master classification , defalut value for colour, purchase order will be created and while doing GR you can change in colur if its different then default you set earlier.
    Akshay kukde wrote:
if i am creating PR Manually -ME51N , system showing configuration tab , where i can maintain characteristic value , which then reflecting in PO and from PO to MIGO
The above scenario I have tried by maintaining class type 023 and same characteristic in material Master. but result is same for auto generate PR by MRP- configuration tab is missing.
My requirement in this case is characteristic value should flow from BOM to PR generated by MRP.
when you manualy create PR you Thread material is consider to be a configurable material and thats why you are able to input configuration value, otherwise as soon as you put this configurable material inside a BOM of normal materila it loost its configuration feature, if you want you can create your parent material also as configurable material, assign same class to it and create configuration profile and take MRP run this time you will get PR with configuration tab as your thread get configuration derived from parent.
Hope above details may help you.
Check and reply, also mark replies helpful if it helps you.
    Thanks

I am doing one MTO for Fabric business but during the confirmation I am getting error that
SALES order Stock does not Exist as well Please inform me Costing procedure in this scenario.
*is it necessary to run MRP in this scenario?*
Please see the all Details of Business so that U can give answer properly.
One is raw fabric (Raw material) which has to passed different process to convert Colored fabric as my Finish product as well I can sale Raw fabric also.
is it possible to maintain raw fabric and Colored fabric with same mat.code?
I have configured the material as well all pricing BOM, Recipe its working properly.
How can I assign the material to Operation? I am getting GRAY field in New Assignment in change recipe mode ..
Is it possible to use Material type other than KMAT? I want to use Finish material type. If yes How?
Right now I can create Process order from the Sales order but I am facing error in confirmation that Sales Order stock does not exist than I have to transfered stock to Sales order and error get solved temporarily but  I want to avoid this manual transaction to remove this error. Any configuration is required please inform.
    My configuration is given below.
    MRP Type : PD
BOM item Category:  L Stock Item.
In dependency & Profile I have set radio Button as Single level Bom explosion.
    Order Bom selection in profile.
Strategy : 25 make to order for configure material.
How can I do ? please suggest any changes
I have only 9 months of SAP experience within short time I have gain lot knowledge from this site and other reading material as well my learning Learning thirst.
    thanks to all SAP gurus..
THANKS IN ADVANCE .... Definitely I will reward points even if my some questions get solved...
    Regards,
    Bhavik dangi.

    Hi,
You can use variant configuration for selling the colored fabric. Use the basic fabric as raw. and maintain variant configuarations to have many variants.
Please use strategy 25. When you run MRP the planned orders will be generated and will be assigned to the sales orders. You can see it on the account assignment tab.
In material master pleasse maintain Individual collective requirement indicator to 1-individual in the MRP-4 view.
Then the stocks will be reserved to the specific sales orders.
    Thanks and regards

  • PIR for Configurable material

    Hi,
We are working with configuration material scenario. This configuration material is use for Planned Independent Requirement (PIR).
I have maintain the Planning profile and create the PIR (MD61) Here select the characteristic’ value, its characteristic value have maintained object dependency for selection of components.
    PIR  MD02 MD04 CO40  Production order,
In production order the component are not selected as per characteristics.
Pl Tell me what is the wrong?? While we work in Sale order creation and production order components are select as per characteristic selection.
Pl helps me what is the wrong for creation of PIR.
    Regards
    Rajesh Tiwari

    Hi
In most cases the configurable materials are manufactured in make-to-order configurable strategy(25). if you have used this strategy in mrp3 view for the fert materials as well as its variants. In this situation u can only creat CIR not PIRs.
Please use CIR using MD81 and it will definitly search for the conf. profile and demands the characterstics.

  • Configurable material cost estimate

    Hi All,
We have lot of configurable materials and some are finished materials and some are semi-finished.
If semi-finished configurable material used in Finished materials, Semi-finished configurable material costs is not roll up correctly for Finished material.
Only labor costs are rolling up and material costs not rolling up
Valuation variants material price is:valuation according to price control.
    any help is appreciated...
    Thanks,
    Anusha

    Hi,
In OKTZ have you tick on Roll up cost component  against the Cost component of  material .
This indicator determines whether the costing results of a cost component are rolled up into the next-highest

  • Purchase Price of Configured Product (KMAT)

We have a commodity which we will buying as a configured product. The commodity will contain several subassemblies which the supplier will put together and ship to us as a complete unit. I understand how to set up the materials in Variant Configuration, but my concern is for the purchase price of the item.
The help files indicate that we can set up the configurable material (top level) as a KMAT and define the content in the Variant Configurator. Since the entire assembly will be purchased at this level, as a composite of the subassemblies, how does the system price the purchase? The help file indicates that the Accounting view would use moving average with a stated price to start, which makes sense since the actual purchase price will vary from combination to combination. Is there a provision in the configurator to handle the purchase price of the subassemblies and that would then roll up the purchase price?

The Mac App Store prices do not include sales taxes. Sales taxes in the USA are different in every jurisdiction in the USA based on what the state and municipality tag on.
For example the sales tax in New York City is 8.875%, whereas in SanFrancisco it is 9.5%. That amount is added on to the retail price listed. The iTunes/Mac App Store sends you an emailed receipt that shows the total amount of your purchase.

  • Generating of report of configurable material

    Hello
We are using configurable material and is there a way to generate reports to know the sale of each varient
    regards
    naveen

    sir /NSAP1 dosn't woek
/NSAP1 won't work if you're in some transaction. You need to be in SAP Easy Access screen or some area menu for it to work. But then you don't need to use /N you can just use SAP1.
A general rule of thumb is you can go to most area menus by the first two letters of their business transaction codes  followed by 00, for example inventory management area menu is MB00
Coming to your question, I don't know what  you mean by
consumption of individual component ie varient of a configrable material.
Variant of a configurable material is just regular material and you can use any report you can use VA05 or COOIS etc.
If you want to look for all the sales orders which have a particular characteristic value assigned you can use CL30N
More reporting transaction codes are in area menu CU00 and CL00

  • U00A7VC in Purchasing, Purchase requisition of configurable material

    Hello Experts,
We have the scenario as described below:
Material A - Parent KMAT (Internally Manufactured)
Material B - Child KMAT (Internally Manufactured, Has its own BOM &assigned to BOM of Parent KMAT with item category L)
Material C - Child KMAT (Externally Procured, No BOM of its own & assigned to BOM of Parent KMAT with item category N).
All the 3 materials have their own Chars,Class& config.profile.
Now, In CU50 while configuring Material A, we see a separate line for Material B under Material A for configuration. The values are assigned and the process goes as expected till BOM explosion and no issues with it.
However Material C does not show up in CU50 for configuration while configuring Material A. If Material C is entered in sales order, no Purchase Requisition is created in MRP run (Sourcing, info record.etc have been taken care of and the material can be procured with no issues when directly creating the PR).
It would be of great help if someone could help me solve this. We should be able to configure Material C while configuring Material A in CU50 and a PR should be generated with assigned values for Material C.
Any solution will be amply rewarded.
    Thank You,
    Manoj

    Hai Manoj,
i have a few clarifications on your request. You have explained that
Material C - Child KMAT (Externally Procured, No BOM of its own & assigned to BOM of Parent KMAT with item category N).
If material C does not have BOM then why do you maintain this as KMAT. Cos KMAT are materials which have super BOM and it gets picked from the characteristic values which we provide.
So can you please check on this. Please reply me back for us to discuss further.
    Thanking you in advance.
    Regards,

  • About configurable material

    hello,
any body pls explain me. i am facing to issues pls provide me solution
    1) my scenario is make to order with configurable material.
when i am creating sales order in configuration i have maintined characteristic which were mainly required and status is showing green but when i am going to save it showing inconsistency check message and showing the same material again and asking for enter the data.again means it showing twice then only its allowing to save. i dont have any sales order BOM i have only PROD BOM and component is recursive.
    2) i have maintained dependency in BOM.
    dependy is procedure.
    formula is $self.qty = width*thickness.
when the time of check i didn't get any error and released.
but when MRP run i haven't get result on base of my dependency. just which qty i have maintained in BOM only i am getting. pls suggest me where i am doing wrong. actually now we r in GOLIVE.

    thanks for ur reply
actually i have maintained dependency formula mentoined below
    Z_WOOD_CROSS_QTY:
    10$self.z_QTY_JSSL = (((((32.5(WIDTH/25.4))/(121212))6)
    20 NO_OF_Pallets))
30 if packing = 'hisexp' or packing = 'ownexp' and length > 3000,

100 if packing = 'hisexp' or packing = 'ownexp' and length > 1000
    110 and length <= 2000,
    120$self.z_QTY_JSSL = (((((32.5(WIDTH/25.4))/(121212))3)
    130NO_OF_Pallets))
140 if packing = 'hisexp' or packing = 'ownexp' and length <= 1000,
    150
    160$self.z_QTY_JSSL = (((((32.5(WIDTH/25.4))/(121212))3)
    170NO_OF_Pallets))
    I have maintained
    Thickness: 0.6mm
    Width:1250mm
    Length: 2010
When I am doing MRP run it should consider line 40-70
But it considering line 80 - 110 only
Its giving result as 1.64 in place of 2.04
Pls help me to resolve this issue. .
