Convert .xls BLOB to .pdf
Hello,
One of my customers has a lot fo .xls files stored as BLOB in a table. They would like to download those as PDF. Is there a method or a tool to do this on demand?

Hello Tony,
This is exactly what I would like to avoid:
1. cron or batch jobs
2. accessing the file system
3. using some additional tools you need to install on the server
4. taking care of the OS
What I had in mind is some code I could install in the database (java?) or configuring the webserver to do that for me. Maybe this is just not possible.

Converting from Blob to pdf problem
Dear all
I have a small problem i hope someone can help me with. I wrote a code that saves a pdf in a database as blob, but when trying to retrieve this blob back and show it as a pdf i had a problem.
When i tried to show the pdf it appeared as a long stream like the following

so it has the same structure of my original pdf except that it's a long stream in only one line . The original pdf looks like the following

So if anyone can help to change that stream into a pdf again, i will really appreciate it. I attached the 2 files (the stream and the pdf).

ThanksHave you tried printing and selecting "Save as PDF"? Or Save As and selecting PDF? I don't have Excel 2004 anymore so I don't know if it has the Save as PDF feature but the standard OS X print dialog has the selection for printing to PDF.

Mac OS batch convert .xls to .pdf not option....WHY NOT???? This was never issue on Windows, and the software notes it supports pdf convert from .xls format (BUT NOT IN MAC VERSION) Any work arounds? Will this becoming in update? Really not acceptable for such expensive software.

Problem in converting report output to pdf
Hi,
I'm managing to get the spool id and other requirements but could'nt get the output of the program converted to pdf format.When i'm trying to do this i'm getting the pdf format of the functional module which retrievs the header and item records and displays the numbers records in the header and item like for eg. header records 8 and item records 10 this its displaying in the format in which we get our funtional module output when we give some data into it.....

Error when trying to convert excel files to pdf
I'm getting the following error when trying to convert .xls and .xlsx files to pdf, using the "Create PDF" option:
Error message from the primary converter:
ALC-PDG-010-012-PDFMaker reported an error while printing the document.
Word, Powerpoint and Text files convert without any issues. Also I'm able to opent the excel files and convert them to pdf using the acrobat option in excel.

Suhail N.It is always difficult when you need to convert multiple xls files to pdf or multiple sheets to pdf. If you have a single file to convert then the best method would be to copy your data to doc file and then convert it into PDF . If you have multiple files to convert then it is really difficult to convert all the files manually. Then the better method would be to use converter tool to convert excel to pdf . By doing this you can convert many files in just few seconds.

Converting binary data into pdf and placing into application server
Hi Friends,
I am able to get PO details in binary format and then using GUI_DOWNLOAD with file type with 'bin' and file name with 'sample.pdf' extension , got PO in pdf format.
But i need to get with pdf extension in application server without using GUI_DOWNLOAD.
Is there any functional modules for it?

I have a requirement ..we have written a program which will give o/p in alv list.Now I got a requirement to download that program to ALV format.Kindly help me how to approch for that we have some standard FM's for that like CONVERT_ABAPSPOOLJOB_2_PDF..what are the necessary inputs I have to give for that FM,

Hyperlinks to XLS, DOC, and PDF files that are included in a .chm file work intermittently.
SUMMARY
Hyperlinks to XLS, DOC, and PDF files that are included in a
.chm file (and the Baggage Files) only work intermittently. The
only solution appears to be deleting the Temporary Internet Files.
PROBLEM
1. I place the XLS, DOC, or PDF file in the Windows
sub-directory that corresponds to the RoboHelp project sub-folder
where the topic in which I’ll place the hyperlink exists.
2. I open the help project in RoboHelp HTML.
3. I right-click on the project’s Baggage Files
sub-folder that corresponds to the Windows sub-directory in which I
placed the XLS, DOC, or PDF file (in step 1).
4. I import the XLS, DOC, or PDF file.
5. I open the topic in which I’m going to place the
hyperlink in the WYSIWYG editor.
6. I “drag and drop” the Baggage File into the
topic (in the WYSIWYG editor) to create a link to it.
7. I save the changes and then generate HTML (.chm) help.
8. I open the .chm file and click the hyperlink. The XLS,
DOC, or PDF file may or may not open.
9. When the hyperlink works correctly, for DOC and XLS files,
a “File Download – Security Warning” dialog box
appears asking, “Do you want to open or save this
file?”. The buttons that are available are
“Open”, “Save”, and “Cancel”.
These buttons work then as one would expect. (When the hyperlink
works correctly for a PDF file, it simply opens the PDF file in a
new window; there’s no prompt to save, open, or cancel.)
10. When a hyperlink does NOT work, for DOC, XLS, and PDF
files, no dialog box or other visual message is displayed. Instead,
the sound that is associated with the “Exclamation”
program event is played (the “Windows XP
Exclamation.wav” file is the WinXP default).
Other Notes:
- The hyperlinks ALWAYS work when I view a topic using the
“View Selected Item” function (Ctrl+W) in the RoboHelp
HTML project.
- Once a hyperlink stops working, it will not start working
again until I delete all the Temporary Internet Files.
- A hyperlink will stop working even if Internet Explorer
(iexplore.exe) is closed the entire time.
WORKAROUND
Through trial and error, I have discovered that if a
hyperlink stops working, I can get it to work again using the
following steps:
1. Leave the .chm file open.
2. Open Internet Explorer.
3. Click Tools>Internet Options….
4. From the “Internet Options” dialog box, select
the “General” tab.
5. Under the “Temporary Internet Files” section,
click the “Delete Files…” button.
6. From the “Delete Files” dialog box, select
“Delete all offline content” and then click
“OK”. The files are deleted and the “Delete
Files” dialog box closes.
7. Click “OK” to close the “Internet
Options” dialog box.
8. Without closing Internet Explorer and without re-starting
the .chm file, all the hyperlinks that didn’t work before
will now work.

- An XLS or DOC file will be listed here if I click its
hyperlink and then click either “Open” or
“Save” from the “File Download – Security
Warning” dialog box.
- A file will appear here even if I click “Save”
and then click “Cancel” from the subsequent “Save
As” dialog box.
- If I click “Cancel” from the “File
Download – Security Warning” dialog box, the file does
not appear in the Temporary Internet Files folder.
- When a file does appear in the Temporary Internet Files
folder, its Internet Address is displayed similar to the following:
“ms-its:C:\PrimaryProjectFolder\ProjectName.chm::/SubFolderName/FileName.xls”

REQUEST FOR HELP
I really want to include certain PDF, DOC, and XLS files in
their native format in a .chm file. However, I need a better
solution to my problem than the one I discovered. What I really
want is to avoid the entire problem altogether.
Have anyone seen this before or have any suggestions?You wont be able to do that. The embedded objects would appear as images only.

We have installed Adobe Acrobat X Pro- English,Francais,Deutsch version 10.1.9 in our test environment and tried testing it for converting SAP pages into PDF with a few pilot users. In doing so we faced a challenge, where only one user at a time can use Adobe Acrobat PRO to convert SAP pages in to PDF.As long as the first user who is connected to Adobe Acrobat Pro via SAP isn’t logged off, other users connected to the same server are not being able to get the “Save As” dialog box to save the PDF in their preferred location.
This is a business requirement and we need an urgent solution for the same. Did your file finish converting? If it did, you may have just run into an issue with your Internet connection/upload speed.
If it stalled, or you received an error message, please clear the browser cache and then try again. If that fails, then we'd want to take a closer look at what's going on. Do other files convert for you? Are you converting via Adobe Reader or via the ExportPDF web interface? How was this particular PDF file created?
