Create Enhancement Point / Section ?

I want to create a new enhancement point / section in a standard SAP code, how to create it. I need to create it in the code "SAPLMIGO".

Please be aware that this Enhancement Framework is available from netweaver2004s as i understood,or if the SAP Basis version is greater than 700
Create a composite enhancement spot
1.Select the package in which you want to create the enhancement spot.
2.Open the context menu and choose Create ® Enhancement ® Composite
Enhancement Spot.A dialog appears.
3.Specify a name and a short description.
Optionally, you can assign the new spot to an already existing composite enhancement spot.
4.Choose Activate to activate the new spot.
Create a subordinate composite enhancement spot
1. Open the desired package.
2. Select the composite enhancement spot to which your new subordinate composite spot will belong.
3.Open the context menu and choose Create ® Subordinate Composite Enhancement Point.
A dialog appears.
4.Specify a name and a short description.
5.Choose Activate to activate the new subordinate spot.
Result:
● The selected composite enhancement spot and its newly created subordinate one are displayed in the object list in a list form (not as a tree) on the same level.
● Choose the composite enhancement spot and select the Spot Composites tab to check whether the new subordinate composite is properly attached.
● The header of the new subordinate spot has to contain the name of the composite enhancement spot to which this subordinate is attached.
● Use a forward navigation to Navigate from parent to child and back.
Create a simple enhancement spot
1. Select the package in which you want to create the simple enhancement spot.
2.Open the context menu and choose Create ® Enhancement ® Enhancement Spot.
A dialog appears.
3.Specify a name and a short description.
Optionally, you can assign the new spot to an already existing composite enhancement spot.
4.Select the desired technology from the Technology list.
Currently it is only possible to create enhancement spots of type BAdI.
Source code plug-ins can only be created inside the editor, because they contain points and sections.
5.Choose Activate to activate the new simple enhancement spot.
Edit an enhancement spot
1.Select the package and expand it.
2.Expand the Enhancements node.
3.Expand the Enhancement Spot node.
4.Select the desired enhancement spot.
5.Choose Change from the context menu.
Choose Display if you only want to display the enhancement spot.
Delete an enhancement spot 1.Select the package and expand it.
2.Expand the Enhancements node.
3.Expand the Enhancement Spot node.
4.Select the desired enhancement spot.
5.Choose Delete from the context menu.

In an upgrade, after finishing with the SPAU task we got the following error in the standard object LMEPOF8D:
A program related ENHANCEMENT-POINT/SECTION with the name "LMEPOF8D_02" already exists.
Anyone knows which cause could be generate this kind of error?

Hello Sandra,
We have finished with SPAU. Regarding LMEPOF8D include, we kept with the ECC6 standard code. Therefore, from a point of view of code, it should be ok. However, we have this sintax error.
As you said, the include contains the enhancement point LMEPOF8D_02 which generates the sintax error, but we couldn't find if this enhancement is used in another place.
We also found note 1331844 and tried to fix the issue by using the 2nd solution propose in the note. But, it didn't work neither.
Do you have any idea about what cause could generates this error?

Enhancement Point Creation in Internal table

Hi,
I want to create a Enhancement Point in Internal table declared in Customize Program.
This is more related to clarification of concept related to Enhancment Point.
But when i am putting the cursor inside the internal table and right click and Enhancment -> create ,it is giving me a message
that "Position of enhancement section/point statement is not allowed".
This means that we can't create Enhancement point or Enhancement Section inside the Internal table and solution is we can use
only Implicit Enhancement point.
But the doubt is that i had seen SAP programs where they have created the Enhancement point in the internal table declarations.
How that is possible then?
Please provide your helpful answers to get me more clarification on Enhancement Point/

Now in the internal table lbbes they have created the enhancement point and in implementation of enhancement point they have declare some extra fields.This is not a implicit enhancement but it is a explicit enhancment implementation with the help of enhancement point.
Similarly if i have to do in my customize program then how to go ahead?
I knew that it is possible with Implicit Enhancement point and i can implement that also.

Hi Friend,
We can use enhancement point to enhance standard report for customize requirement of our client.
You can create enhancement point in display mode. There is button called Enhance (shift + F4). Click on that and it will ve in change like mode; now you can implement any enhancement point.
To go to display mode press chnage/display button.

I think i have not asked question correctly.. what i mean to ask is "to create the explicit enhancement point in the method(Source code), does ACCESS KEY required".
Because when i tried to create enhancement point at IMPLICIT enhancement option system is allowing to create but when i tried to create at other than IMPLICIT enhancement option(in the mid of source code ) system is not allowed and displayed following message :
"In this mode, you can create implementations only"

Hi Pramod,
The enhancement spots are used to manage explicit enhancement options. Enhancement spots carry information about the positions at which enhancement options were created. One enhancement spot can manage several enhancement options of a Repository object. Conversely, several enhancement spots can be assigned to one enhancement option.
Use
You create an explicit enhancement option when processing a Repository object with the relevant tool by creating an enhancement spot element definition at a point where this is possible. This enhancement option can then be called at different points using enhancement spot element calls. The enhancement spot element definition and the corresponding enhancement spot element calls make up the definition of an enhancement option. For example, when editing an ABAP program with the ABAP Editor, you can define explicit enhancement options in the form of the ENHANCEMENT-POINT statement, which also represents the element definition and element call.
Each enhancement spot element definition must be assigned to at least one enhancement spot. For this, an enhancement spot element definition is assigned one or more simple enhancement spots, which in turn are assigned to at least one composite enhancement spot. Simple and composite enhancement spots are Repository objects that form a tree-like structure, where the leaves and branches represent simple and composite enhancement spots respectively. A simple enhancement spot is always assigned to exactly one enhancement technology (ABAP source code enhancement or BAdI).
Composite enhancement spots are used for the semantic grouping of simple enhancement spots. A composite enhancement spot contains either one or more simple enhancement spots and/or one or more composite enhancement spots of the relevant type. You can use composite enhancement spots to combine simple enhancement spots into meaningful units.
The statement ENHANCEMENT-POINT can either be entered directly or created by choosing Edit → Enhancement operations → Create enhancement in the Enhancement Builder.

Error while creating enhancement section

Hi,
I am trying to create a enhancement section in my ABAP program, but i am getting a message 'Defines an enhancement sppot in another object'.
Here is the process i followed.
I have created a enhancement spot in my package zkk_pkg in se80 and activated.
i have created a program in se38 editor. In that program i am selecting a section of code and then right-click -> enhancements -> create .
Then i am getting create enhancement option where i am selecting enhancement section and giving a new name ZKK_ES1. Also in the enhancement spot section i am giving the enhancement spot i created earlier and the package name as an enhancement section should be assigned to a spot.
When i give these parameters and click OK , it shows the message 'Defines an enhancement sppot in another object'.
Can anyone let me know where i am going wrong.

u can follow this procedure for creating enhancement spot,
instead of creatign enhancement spot in se80
just select the code
right click and do create enhancement
and u give the name of the enhancement section and also the enhancement spot iand also the package where u want to save in the pop up window
it will create u the spot and point of enhahcnement
and save , it will create the enhancement spots for ur code
hope it will solve ur prob

My requirement is while creating the P.O.(ME21N) with reference, The payment terms is getting copied from the reference P.O. and become grayed out (Non editable) instead of that user want the payment terms which we have maintained in (LFB1) Vendor Master.
Please help me to resolve my problem.

Creating an enhancement point in an include

Hi there,
We are looking at creating an enhancement point in an include that is used by many main programs.
What I'm trying to understand is whether I need to create multiple enhancement spots (ie. one for each main program that calls the include) or whether it is possible to have one enhancement spot (and obviously a corresponding enhancement implementation) that will be executed by all the main programs?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,
Yes we are aware of implicit enhancement points and certainly would have used them if we were able to code a solution at the start or end of the include. Unfortunately we wish to influence some code in the middle of the include and the only way I can see to do this is to explicitly create an enhancement point.

i have to add some codes in enhancement ENHANCEMENT-POINT ZUORDNUNG_DURCHFUEHREN_01 SPOTS ES_SAPLMR1M.
what im not sure is whether im doing it in the right way coz its the first time im doing that
i right click on the ENHANCEMENT-POINT ZUORDNUNG_DURCHFUEHREN_01 SPOTS ES_SAPLMR1M.
where i can create the enhancement or is there another way coz i was following a tutorial, im not getting the same screens

The better way to start with a Enhancement is;
1) Go to SE18
2) Give Enhancement Spots and click Display.
3) Scroll the list for your Enhancement Point (ZUORDNUNG_DURCHFUEHREN_01) and Double click on it.
4) Now The code will be opened in ABAP Editor.
5) Before modifying switch to "enhancement mode" by pressing the "Enhance Sourcecode" Button( Shift + F4).
6) Now Right Click -> Enhancement Implementation -> Create
7) Click on the Create icon and Give Name and description
8) Assign Package
9) Now select the newly created Enhan. implementation and press enter.
10) Now start writing code as usual.

Syntax Error after creating enhancements for subroutine

Problem:
Creating enhancement sections gives a syntax error when creating enhancement options and implementations for a subroutine and then ceating enhancement options and implementations for the call to that same subroutine.

Syntax Error:
"Different number of parameters in FORM and PERFORM (routine: SET_LAYOUT, number of formal parameters: 2, number of actual parameters: 1)


Here's the following scenario:


A subroutine is defined in a program.
The subroutine is called within the same program.


I then executed these steps:
 1. Defined an enhancement section around the subroutine definition
 2. Defined an enhancement section around the subroutine call.
 3. Implemented the enhancement section around the subroutine definition and add an additional parameter.


 Currently, this gives a syntax error as expected, since the call to the subroutine needs 1 more parameter.


 4. Implemented the enhancement section for the subroutine call. I change the call in the implementation so it passes the new parameter.


A syntax check to this gives an error. The syntax checker is not only checking the new implementation, but also the original subroutine that should have been overwritten.


The enhancement sections use the same enhancement spot, and the enhancement implementations use the same implementation.


I tried various combinations of using different enhancement spots and/or implementations, but all give the same syntax error. I tried separating the subroutine in a different include and retried my testing, but it still gave the same syntax error.


Here's the sample code I first created to try troubleshooting the problem:

Yes, Sandra. That is what did and it worked with no syntax errors!
I'm not sure if this is getting off topic or not, but the SAP documentation(taken from the SAP help after pressing F1 on the keyword static in ERP6) seems misleading:
"The STATIC addition is intended for the enhancement of data declarations, while the statement ENHANCEMENT-POINT without the STATIC addition is designed for the enhancement of executable coding."
I would think the enhancement section ZEP_Z_MICHAEL_02 would fall under the category of executable code, while the enhancement section ZEP_Z_MICHAEL_01 would fall under the category of declarative code.
Unfortunately, all the SAP enhancement sections I come accross are dynamic. The SAP help explains the reasoning for this:
"In contrast to the statement ENHANCEMENT-POINT, the addition STATIC of the statement ENHANCEMENT-SECTION can only be used with maximum caution for changes of data declarations, because a replacement and no completion is carried out. Especially application development within SAP should not use the addition STATIC at all with ENHANCEMENT-SECTION as the change will be active in the entire customer system. "
I do not know what the word "completion" means in the previous quote, so I can't determine why it would matter. Regardless, if a developer wanted to change a standard subroutine declaration, they would also have to mod an enhancement section to change it to static. This seems to defeat the purpose of using enhancements, but maybe this scenario is not what enhancements were intended for.

: These statements define a source code plug-in with the ID id. Between the statements, a source code enhancement can be implemented. The control structures and processing blocks contained in the implementation must be complete.
The statements ENHANCEMENT and ENDENHANCEMENT can not be entered and edited directly. Instead, they are generated by the ABAP Workbench when enhancements are created as a part of the enhancement concept. The ID id is also assigned by the Workbench.
Notes
: In the terminology of the enhancement concept, a source code plug-in is an enhancement implementation element of a (simple) enhancement implementation.
Although source code plug-ins are displayed in the same source code as the corresponding enhancement options ENHANCEMENT-POINT or ENHANCEMENT-SECTION, they are actually stored in other Include programs that are administrated by the Enhancement Builder.
It is not yet possible to enhance a source code plug-in using further source code plug-ins. This means it is not currently possible to use the statements ENHANCEMENT-POINT and ENHANCEMENT-SECTION between ENHANCEMENT and ENDENHANCEMENT.
