Downloading and Installing Mountain Lion on a 2010 Macbook Pro Running OS X 10.6.8
I'm attempting to download mountain lion, but everytime I click the download button, it turns white and the just reverts back to normal. I tried restarting the computer, and I see the dock icon saying it's downloading, but again, nothing in the App Store changes. I've tried deleting the cache for the App Store, I've tried resetting the App Store, I tried creating a VPN network, but nothing worked. I'm out of idea.
You're sure your Mac can run Mountain Lion? >>> System requirements for OS X Mountain Lion
OS X Mountain Lion system requirements
To install Mountain Lion, you need one of these Macs:
iMac (Mid 2007 or newer)
MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer)
MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer)
MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer)
Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer)
Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer)
Xserve (Early 2009)
Your Mac needs:
OS X v10.6.8 or OS X Lion already installed
2 GB or more of memory
8 GB or more of available space
Make sure there's enough available disk space. Right or control click the MacintoshHD icon on your desktop or in the Sidebar of a Finder window then click Get Info. Make sure there's at least 15% free storage space.

I had iLife pre-installed on my aluminium Macbook 2009 with OSX Leopard on it. My hard drive broke but got most of the info off it and just installed snow Leopard on to a new drive and then downloaded and installed Mountain Lion over it. Now I don't have iLife anymore. How do I get it back?
Welcome to Apple Support Communities
Mac OS X doesn't come with iLife applications, so you have to install them manually after installing Mac OS X.
Insert the Applications disc or Mac OS X Install Disc 2 DVD and install iLfe applications. Then, open > Software Update, and install the latest update. If you want, you can purchase iMovie, GarageBand and iPhoto in the App Store, so you will get the most recent version -
Just installing a few updates from the Mac App Store for mountain lion on my 2010 MacBook Pro, during this it made a noise and then the screen and keyboard went off, like it is off. What happened, is it off...or should I just wait it out?
What kind of noise?
The only things I can think of that make noise are fans and disks. Fans usually will not cause the computer to shutdown as you describe. My guess is your disk drive died. I hope you made a backup prior to start the ungrade.

I just downloaded and installed mountain lion but it kept snow leopard on my screen is that supposed to happen or did i miss something?
Then you're good to go. Updating your OS doesnt change your desktop background, you can do that manually, if you wish.

HT5381 "first download and install Mountain Lion"?
The upgrade/migration guide says to "first download and install Mountain Lion". Am I correct in assuming they just haven't updated it to say "Mavericks"?
Thanks,
JaschaWhich MBP do you have? Have you looked at the list of support machines on the Tech Specs page linked to http://www.apple.com/osx to see that your computer is there?

While trying to instal Mountain Lion OS on my macbook pro, I got the error message that my HD was damaged and it reverted to my Lion OS. Why does this happen? I bought the OS online through the app store.
The Mountain Lion installer looks at your internal drive to make certain that it's error-free before continuing installation. You should have an application named "Install OS X Mountain Lion.app" in your Applications folder now so you shouldn't have to download it again. Do this...
Boot to your Lion recovery partition by holding down both the Command and the R keys while booting. Open Disk Utility from the Recovery partition and select your hard drive (usually named "Macintosh HD" unless you've renamed it) and click on Verify Disk. If you come up with any errors, click on Repair Disk. At the end of the cycle you will get a message that the disk was successfully repaired or a message that the hard drive could not be repaired.
If you're able to repair the disk, just reboot as normal and open the "Install OS X Mountain Lion.app" and the installation will proceed. If Disk Utility was unable to repair the disk, you need to get to your local Apple Store as soon as possible so that they can see if the disk is salvageable or beyond repair.
Good luck,

I purchased - downloaded and installed Lightroom 5 on my old Macbook Pro in June, 2014. I have since replaced that computer with a new Macbook Pro. I uninstalled Lightroom from that computer. I would like to download Lightroom 5 onto my new computer, but none of the codes I have are working. How can I download it without having to re-purchase it?
You can look here

How can i download and install visual c++ v.6 on macbook pro?
I'm not sure if you can use it in Win 7 as it's very old. Try to use newer versions of Visual Studio or install WinXp with a virtual machine within Mac.

After months of failed attempts, I finally got mountain lion loaded on my macbook pro. Shortly thereafter I received an email saying my id had been used to access icloud. During the setup process, I unchecked the icloud box so I am not sure whether this is normal or has someone else using icloud with my id. I am pretty sure that I did not select iclout for set up.
Don't worry I've sorted it! I just had to turn off Reminders as well in iCloud. Calendar then worked fine, even when I turned Calendar and Reminders back on.

Problems downloading and installing mountain lion from the app store
HI i have purchased the upgrade for mountain lion from snow leopard and everytime i download and install the install wizard informs that he file cannot be verified so may be corrupt. Am i doing anything wrong?
App store download problems:
- Sign out of the App Store (in the Store menu)
- Quit the App Store
- In Finder - Go>Go to folder... (or Apple-shift-G)
- Paste in the following "~/Library/Caches/ "
- It will take you to a folder. Delete com.apple.appstore
- Launch the App Store. Sign in and then reclick the Mountain Lion buy. It won't charge you again.

App Store doesn't know I already purchased, downloaded and installed Mountain Lion
I've have downloaded OS 10.8 Mountain Lion from the App Store on my iMac. It's downloaded and installed, but every time I open the App Store, and look at my purchases it still says I still have to download Mountain Lion. It's a small problem, but rather annoying. It there anyway for the App Store to know Mountain Lion is installed on the iMac?

No it is NOT telling you you HAVE to redownload it. It is giving you the opportunity to Re-Download it. -
Just installed Mountain Lion Latest Version on MacBook Pro Mid 2010
I want to make sure, that after i spend so much money on a high end mac book pro in December of 2010, that now i can't even use the feature of apple tv mirror because my lap top has to be early 2011 or later. Please confirm Apple Gurus so that i can be sure that im didn't do anything wrong. I have the latest Apple Tv but my MacBook Pro 17 was purchased in dec. 2010. which makes it a macbook pro mid 2010. If the case is i can't utilize the mirror for my desktop to show in apple tv, then why does it work with itunes and every other device? so weird, plus i need to make sure i've done all the troubleshooting possible so then i go ahead to the next step and buy the USB to HDMI Cable that way i can do it the old way since my mac book pro high end is now considered old. So dissapointed.
Look at this link. It indicates that a third party application will allow you to use it:

Has anyone had this problem? Any solution(s) welcome!
Thanks for the info. I'll have to check this later this evening, since I'm in my office presently.
However, I do think it is (was) indexing. -
i bought macbook pro and update my osx, i already have the codes and install mountain lion and its been 2 days now and still downloading mode
Disable anti virus software.
Apps such as Little Snitch, Net Nanny, and Hands Off can prevent apps from downloading including Mountain Lion as well as third party download managers.
Keep in mind, for downloading Mountain Lion from the App Store, a high speed (broadband) internet connection is strongly recommended by Apple as noted here > iTUNES STORE - MAC APP STORE - TERMS AND CONDITIONS
If you need to reinstall OS X or repair the the startup disk using Mountain Lion Recovery, that requires broadband access to the internet via Wi-Fi or an Ethernet connection. OS X is downloaded over the internet form Apple when OS X Recovery is used for reinstallation.
