Dynamic Query Change in WAD
Hi All,
We have a requirement where we need to display different queries based on current date.
If the month is having 30 days, one query needs to be picked dynamically and if month is having 31 days, one more query needs to be picked up.
Similarly for months with 28 and 29 days.
Please let me know whether we can do any changes in WAD to pick up queries dynamically or any other procedure to achieve this.
Thanks,
Gayathri
Hi,
Why you need 4 queries just for a days change ? what is the business requirement ? It could be solved in a simpler way.

Dynamic Long Text in WAD (BW 3.5)
Hello Guys,
I need to display in a wad dynamic text that would change dependeding of the month chossen. Any suggestion for display long text in WAD?
Regards,
Iván.hi,
You can do this but i am not sure directly in WAD you can do this in Bex by creating Customer Exit text varibale for the heading you want to display dynamically.
Based on the selectio criteria of the month pass the values in the Customer Exit so that it will change in the Bex Query.Create an WAD report based on the Query.
I think it will solve your problem.
Let me know if you any issues.

Dynamic query in where clause while looping in an internal table.
Hi,
Had a small question : How can i make a dynamic query for the WHERE clause while looping at an internal table.
i want to implement a dynamic where clause query for the below example.
it_cfx_col is an internal table and wa_cfx_col is a work area for it_cfx_col
DATA :
i_cfx_col TYPE TABLE OF cfx_col,
wa_cfx_col LIKE LINE OF i_cfx_col.
DATA : count TYPE i VALUE 0.
DATA : l_where_clause TYPE string,
l_where_clause2 TYPE string,
l_name type string.
l_name = 'NANDANOM'.
l_scenario = 'collaboration'.
LOOP AT it_cfx_col INTO wa_cfx_col
WHERE CREATED_BY = l_name
AND SCENARIO = l_scenario.
count = count + 1.
some business logic implemented using the work area wa_cfx_col
endloop.
Now i want to write a dynamic query for the where clause.
DATA : count TYPE i VALUE 0.
DATA : l_where_clause TYPE string,
l_where_clause2 TYPE string,
l_name type string.
l_name = 'NANDANOM'.
l_scenario = 'collaboration'.
l_where_clause = 'CREATED_BY = l_name'.
l_where_clause2 = 'AND SCENARIO = l_scenario'.
if l_scenario is not initial.
CONCATENATE l_where_clause l_where_clause2
INTO l_where_clause SEPARATED BY space.
endif.
LOOP AT i_cfx_col INTO wa_cfx_col
WHERE (l_where_clause).
count = count + 1.
some business logic implemented using the work area wa_cfx_col
endloop.
when i compile this i get an error message as { Statement concluding with "...(l_where_clause)" ended unexpectedly}
Even i changed the initilization of the variable l_where_clause2 to [ l_where_clause2 = 'AND SCENARIO = l_scenario.'. ]
added the end of line demarkation ".", but still i got the same error message.
Is it a limtation in ABAP that i cannot write a dynamic query for the where clause while looping at an internal table?
Regards,
omHi savita,
there in no such 1 limitaion in abap for dynamic query .. i think the error meassge is only beacuse of your synatx delcartaion.
>> LOOP AT i_cfx_col INTO wa_cfx_col
WHERE (l_where_clause).
count = count + 1.
some business logic implemented using the work area wa_cfx_col
endloop.
afted delclarataion also , in the where statement you should specify both the field name and value bname
LOOP AT i_cfx_col INTO wa_cfx_col
WHERE l_where_clause = 'CREATED_BY = l_name' .
count = count + 1.
hope it helps.

Dynamic query configuration in sender jdbc adapter
Hi,
According my undertsnading in XI.3.0 dynamic query in sender JDBC adapter is not possible.
could any one confirms the possibility of this feature in XI 7.0 .
Thanks,
venuHi VJ,
sorry for late responding to your answer.
One of our requirements is the query statement that we write in sender communication channel should be changed dynamically, for example in where condition the condition parameters values required to change.

Question on Dynamic Query Data Source and Form Folders in Oracle Forms 6i
Hi there -
I have one interesting requirement in Oracle Forms.
This is what I wanted to do.
1. Have a LOV and Go button on Form.
2. From LOV, I will select a pre-defined custom table and click Go.
3. Based on the selected custom table, I have to populate the Block (Tabular Format).
4. User should be able to do update, delete, insert on this block.
5. User should be able to use the Oracle Form folders functionality (select only necessary column and save views etc. Std folder functionality).
6. If user selects a different custom table name in the LOV on top, I need to refresh the data from the block based on this new table. Remaining functionality should be as it is (steps 3 to 5).
You can see here, I am going to have dynamic query data source (Table Name as well as column mapping) on the block. I do not know before hand how many columns the user selected table has!
This is what I have planned for this so far but I have some major questions before I can move on with this design:
1. I am going to create a table structure with fixed number of column in form (40 cols assuming that the custom table will not have more that 40 cols). (Kind of limitation but it's okay as of now).
2. Dynamically populate the block based on the table name selected by the user from LOV. Dynamically change the table column names based on the table selected etc.
3. Perform insert, update, delete using PL/SQL package.
So far it looks okay.
Now my real question is,
Can user still be able to user "Folders" functionality here? I have never done this kind of development before and I doubt the dynamic column naming, dynamic column data source will really work for "folders"!
Also, I am not really sure whether user will be able to save these "folder" queries?
Okay so form experts, can you ppl suggest me if this is really going to work? Are there any better ways to do this?
Initially I tried to do this in OA Framework but I got stuck at because as per OAF developer guide "I cannot user OAF personalization for dynamic items, regions etc".
For more info on that thread see this link...
Re: setUserCustomizable issue!
Thanks in advance for the help.Any suggestion anyone?

Unable to retrieve results using dynamic query
Hi Experts,
I have created a custom table and have created a custom bol to integrate it with web ui. I have redefined the dynamic query result method of genil layer. I find the data into LT_RESULT but when I invoke the root list method the LR_OBJECT does not contain the values.
Please see below the code that I have written.
====================================
METHOD IF_GENIL_APPL_INTLAY~GET_DYNAMIC_QUERY_RESULT.
DATA: LR_OBJECT TYPE REF TO IF_GENIL_CONT_ROOT_OBJECT,
LT_RESULT TYPE TABLE OF ZCRMST_XXXX,
LV_DYN_WHERE TYPE STRING,
LV_LEN TYPE I,
LS_RANGE TYPE SELOPTOBJ.
DATA: LT_XXXX TYPE TABLE OF SELOPTOBJ,
LT_YYYY TYPE TABLE OF SELOPTOBJ.
FIELD-SYMBOLS: <LFS_RESULT> TYPE ZCRMST_XXXX,
<LFS_SELECTION_RANGE> TYPE GENILT_SELECTION_PARAMETER.
decomposition of selection parameters and build a dynamic where condition
SELECT * FROM ZXXXX INTO TABLE LT_RESULT[].
CHECK LINES( LT_RESULT[] ) > 0.
LOOP AT LT_RESULT[] ASSIGNING <LFS_RESULT>.
LR_OBJECT = IV_ROOT_LIST->ADD_OBJECT( IV_OBJECT_NAME = 'Root'
IS_OBJECT_KEY = <LFS_RESULT>-XXXX ).
CHECK LR_OBJECT IS BOUND.
LR_OBJECT->SET_QUERY_ROOT( ABAP_TRUE ).
ENDLOOP.
ENDMETHOD.
==================================================
Thanks in advance,Hi,
Please check your get_objects method of the genil class. I made some changes to my implementation of get_objects method and it fixed the problem.

Sort problem on dynamic query !!
Hi,
I have a dynamic query written in pl/sql, when I check "Sort" for each field in Report Attribute, error message raised up as "ORA-01785: ORDER BY item must be the number of a SELECT-list expression".
If I do not check Sort, it works fine. In my apps I need all fields sorted by user, how to fix this problem?
My query as below:
declare
query varchar2(2000):='select';
s_class varchar2(1000);
cursor c1 is select * from demo_preference;
begin
for c1_val in c1 loop
if c1_val.login is not null then
query := query ||' ' || 'login' || ',';
end if;
if c1_val.id is not null then
query := query ||' ' || 'id' || ',';
end if;
end loop;
query := SUBSTR(query, 1, length(query)-1);
s_class := '(NVL(:P2_class, ''%'' || ''null%'') = ''%'' || ''null%'' OR
EXISTS (SELECT 1 FROM apex_collections WHERE collection_name = ''P2CLASSCOL'' AND c001 = class))';
query := query ||' ' || 'from ming.reg_report_view1 where'
|| ' ' || s_class;
return(query);
end;Maybe the internally mapped column used when you clicked on sort is not shown in the report. Try using aliases when you construct the query string, it could help apex internally in identifying a column even if its order changes for a different user. After all the column order in the code is dynamic and I guess even the no of columns displayed might vary both of which could make sorting on a column identified with a number, invalid.
How about displaying the report query somewhere, so that you know what is the exact query being processed, it might give you better information about the problem.
If the problem persists, then use a collection that is fetched those record using the same query string and change the report to refer the collection and then set column sorting on. This way apex would get confused on what columns are being sorted and it would just sort on a c001..c050 column as though it was a string(yes problems with number columns sorting when you do this). -
How to get 100 latest hits from dynamic query?
Hello,
using a dynamic query like BTQAct returns the 100 first results.
I know how to change the number of results by setting parameter MAX_HITS, but is there a possibility to get the latest 100 results without getting all results and delete the oldest till 100 remains?
In GENIL_BOL_BROWSER I see additional parameters MATCH_TYPE, DROP_SEL_PARAMS_ALLOWED and SELECTION_HINTS, but I don't know, how to use them and what they are doing.
regards
MartinHi Martin,
All the bol parameters that you have mentione dwill not help you unfortunately.
The only facility provided in the wb ui as of now is to automatically customise the no of results (ie max hits),but not the order in which they are displayed.
Though there is a sort option in the table view,which can be enabled throguh html and you can sort the same on any of the date fields tha you have.BUt if you want to do any kind of xtra processing of the search results then you have to do it in eh_onsearch().Here after getting the results collection,you can filtre them on the basis that you want.If you do thsi,you will also be able to delete all the older from the result collection xcept for the 1st 100 like you said.This will ensure that the results are filetred only on the Ui level and no harm is done to the database entires as such. -
Interactive report based on dynamic query
Hello
I am using Apex 4.1 and have a requirement to create an interactive report based on a dynamic query. This option is available in Classic report but in Interactive this feature is not there. Tried using collections or just a view (thought of changing the view definition during "On load", but structure of the report is already defined based on the definition of the view at design time).
Is there any way of achieving this?
Appreciate any help!
Thanks

Dynamic query in updatable report
I have generated a updatable report with the folowing select:
select
"INSTALLATIEID",
"INSTALLATIEID" INSTALLATIEID_DISPLAY,
"CO_DRUK" druk,
"CO_H2O" h2o,
"CO_O2" o2,
"CO_O2_11" o2_11,
"CO_TEMP" temp
from "#OWNER#"."CORRECTIE"
The table correctie has above the 50 columns (the same columns for different components) so I want to change the query in:
select
"INSTALLATIEID",
"INSTALLATIEID" INSTALLATIEID_DISPLAY,
"&P50_COMP._DRUK" druk,
"&P50_COMP._H2O" h2o,
"&P50_COMP._O2" o2,
"&P50_COMP._O2_11" o2_11,
"&P50_COMP._TEMP" temp
from "#OWNER#"."CORRECTIE"
The item P50_COMP will be filled with a default value and is a select list with submit.
The problem is when I change the query in the above way, the query cannot be parsed and I cannot applay the changes without parsing the query.
Also not when I use Generic Column Names (parse query at runtime only)
Can somebody help me with this problem.Fred,
You should switch to a PL/SQL Function Body Returning SQL Statement (Dynamic Query) in order to achieve this. Your Function would look like this:
declare
l_sql varchar2(32767);
begin
l_sql := 'select
"INSTALLATIEID",
"INSTALLATIEID" INSTALLATIEID_DISPLAY,
"' || :P50_COMP || '._DRUK" druk,
"' || :P50_COMP || '._H2O" h2o,
"' || :P50_COMP || '._O2" o2,
"' || :P50_COMP || '._O2_11" o2_11,
"' || :P50_COMP || '._TEMP" temp
from "#OWNER#"."CORRECTIE"';
return l_sql;
end;Thanks,

Issue in attaching dynamic Query to the View Object
Hi,
We are having a View Object attached to the JRAD page.
The View object is build thru as Expert mode. There is no any CDATA
SQLQUERY stored in the VO.xml file.
We are building the query dynamically and attaching it to the VO in
RUNTIME.
The code is as below
// getFcstQuery() is method used to return the dynamic query
String query = getFcstQuery();
// Setting the Query to View Object
getViewDef().setQuery(query);
setQuery(query);
The JRAD page has sorting option on 5 columns. so when a sorting is
done the data are interchanged between the clients.
For example how the query will be build id
Say for the first user the query will be as
"select ename,eno,dno from emp where eno=1 "
for the second user the query may be
"select ename,eno,dno from emp where eno=2 "
Now if both the user hit the sorting on any of the column the data is
interchagned between this both users.
Please provide solution if possible.
Thanks in advance
BalamohanHi Steve,
We are using 5 tables in building the query.
Say,
1) summary
2) transactions
3) transactions_history
4) rules
5) rules_temp
but only 2 tables are used at a time
for read only we are using
summary table
for edit only mode we are using
1) transactions and
2) rules
tables
for edit and recalculate mode we are using
1) transactions and
2) rules_temp
tables
for one more condition we are using
1) transactions_history and
2) rules
tables
From all the above combination we are getting 5 columns. All the columns are defined the above combination tables. So using the same region. based on the conditions the combination of tables will change.
Becoz of this we are building the query dynamically.
Thanks

Dynamic Query and default run-time values
I am trying to build a dynamic query within dreamweaver and
retain access from the bindings panel.
here is a simple pseudo-query I want to expand on.
"SELECT object FROM objects_table WHERE widget_number =
widgets"
widgets is set up as a variable with a run-time value that
relates to $_GET['widgets']
this works fine but now i want to expand on this so the query
returns all results if $_GET['widgets'] is undefined. I was hoping
I could set the default value for widgets to equal widget_number so
I would get....
"SELECT object FROM objects_table WHERE widget_number =
widget_number" but the runtime query is actually
"SELECT object FROM objects_table WHERE widget_number =
'widget_number' " which obviously doesn't work.
I can alter the query manually from the code view but then I
lose access to the bindings panel as dreamweaver doesn't parse the
query properly.
Any pointers?
Thanks in advance

This is simply a question of organizing your workflow. As you
have
discovered, Dreamweaver no longer recognizes a recordset if
you make
changes to the basic structure of the code. The answer is to
use
Dreamweaver to construct your page using an unaltered
recordset. Once
the design stage is complete, make the changes required by
inserting
your conditional statement. Yes, the fieldnames disappear
from the
Bindings panel, and you get exclamation marks in the Server
Behaviors
panel, but that's not important. If you need to restore them
for any
reason, just wrap the changes in /* */ comments. Remove the
comments
when you have finished.
