Enable drill through feature in a Financial Reporting Report

Hi,
my Hyperion system version is 9.3.1. I need to realize some Financial Reporting reports using the Drill Through feature but i don't know how activate this feature.
Anybody can hel me?
Thanks in advance.
Stefano

One way is related content, which drills to another report based on the intersection clicked on by the user:
Check out the fr user guide (chapter 7) for more info:

For setting up drill-through, you need to define the Hybrid Analysis relational source in Integration Services Console, check out the Hyperion Essbase – System 9 Database Administrator's Guide from the following link:

  • Enabling drill through from Essbase cube to drill through report

The requirement is that I keep summary level information in the Essbase cube and detailed granular information (order level) in a relational table.I would like to enable drill through between the cube and the report.
Please advise what would be the best approach considering the current system architecture that is outlined below.( Hyperion suite 11.1.2.1).
Would also like to know drill thru vs hybrid analysis options.
    1) ASO/BSO cube is populated through Oracle Data Integrator
    2) The relational transactional table is also poulated through ODI.
    3) The cube would hold summary level info while thr drill through report should provide the order level details in the same context as chosen in the cube.
Would appreciate guidance on the best way forward.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Anirban

Incidentally we had been trying to use Essbase studio as an option. But there are 2 oints that we are trying to investigate.
    1) Can we bypass deployment of data and metadata everytime through Essbase studio after the initial outline is delpoyed? In the system architecture the relational tables are populated using ODI. We would like to load the data and metadata through ODI into the cube. Eeven then can we implement drill thru bypassing deployment through Essbase Studio?
    2) If Essbase studio is imperative for drill through then what are the batch automation options for deployment through Essbase studio? Ideally the option should be after the relational tables are populated through ODI then the Essbase deployment should be invoked and batch script should load the data and metadata through Essbase Studio.
    Please advise.

  • To enable drill through in EISeveryleaf membe of dimensionis at samelevel

    Hi All,
I a facing a drill through problem in EIS,to enable drill through feature in EIS,every leaf member of a dimension must be at same generation,is it correct?
Plz guide me in this as it is very urgent.
    Thanks,
    Ravi

This link will explain the difference between a Balanced, Unbalanced, and ragged hiearchy. It should help you to understand better.
    http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/db2luw/v8/index.jsp?topic=/com.ibm.db2.udb.db2_olap.doc/cmdhierarchy.htm
Hybrid Analysis requires hierarchy is balanced, relational drill thru does not.
Are you planning to use Hybrid Analysis? If not, don't worry about balanced hierarchy.

  • Enabling Drill Through causing Essbase Integration Server hang.

During the automation process using olapicmd command and *.cbs we are enabling Drill Through which is causing Essbase Integration Server hang.
We don't get any error message in log file. Plus sometime its run successful , also when we run this manually going to EIS console, it run fine.
    Thanks in advance

    Hi Kishore,
    Thanks for your prompt reply......

  • Enabling drill through using FR

    Hi Team ,
We have configured Drill through in FDMEE and we are able to drill from web-forms and smart view to FDMEE . Please advise if we can drill to FDMEE from Hyperion reports also .
Basically if i can drill through from web-forms for an intersection how can i enable drill from the same intersection from HFR .

  • Drill Through Parameters

    Hello,
Our organization would like to take advantage of the Drill Through functionality that is built into BPC for NetWeaver 7.5.  In both the How To Guide and several blog/forum posts, the examples shown for the parameterized URL call state that the values passed as parameters must be at the base level of the dimension.  This is an unrealistic expectation for our business case.
We have a custom Drill Through developed for our implementation of BPC for Microsoft 7.0.  The report we execute the Drill Through from is a financial cost report.  Rows(Account) and columns(Time) are rarely displayed at the base value-level.  In addition we have EvDRE filters for Company, Profit Center, and Cost Center that are usually set at the "All" level (but not always).  Business users drill through a specific cell to see all detail transaction data corresponding to the cell value.
In order to "explode" each dimension, we developed custom user-defined functions in SQL Server.  A dimension value is passed to the function, the function "explodes" through the dimension and returns a list of all base level values related to the passed value.  The tables returned from each function (account, time, company, cost center, profit center) are then used to filter transaction detail via a SQL Server stored procedure.
It must be possible to develop this same sort of "dimension explosion" logic within the BPC for NetWeaver 7.5 environment.  The question is how can it be accomplished?  We've come up with some possible alternatives:
    1) Develop a transaction which can be accessed through the ITS.  The transaction would read the BPC dimensions as stored in the BW, perform the "dimension explosion" logic, then pass the value lists for each dimension as filters to a custom ABAP report or Bex Query,
    2) Develop logic in .ASPX/C# to execute a Microsoft SSIS package that pulls data from the dimensions using the SAP BI connection manager.  The resulting value lists are then passed to a parameterized WebI or Crystal Report.
    3) Develop a custom menu selection, calling macro logic created within our cost report.  The macro logic would perform the "dimension explosion" logic, then somehow store the resulting value lists so they can be consumed by the drill through executed via a call to mnu_ETOOLS_DRILLTHOUGH_RUN.
We're not sure how feasible each of these alternatives are, and hope some of you out there can share your thoughts.
Any other ideas would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks in advance for your help!
    Wendell Giedeman

    Wendell,
It seems that you've thought this through pretty thoroughly!
One other option to consider would be regularly synchronizing BPC and BW versions of your hierarchy, and then doing a lookup on the BW side without directly referencing the BPC dimension data. Yet another option would be loading your detailed data into BPC and then doing the "explosion" by using EVHOT to jump to a report on the detailed application.

  • Enable/Disable Drill-Through Reporting?

    Hi,
We have a BSO app which has Drill-through reports (defined in EIS).
    Reports are working fine.
Is there a way to disable/enable drill-through reporting on an App/DB using MAXL?
    Appreciate your thoughts.
    Thanks,
    Ethan.

    Glenn,
    Thank You for the response.
I am not exactly able to understand how this whole drill-through reporting concept works technically.
We define meta-outlines in EIS. Define Drill-through reports for Meta-outlines.
We build the cubes in Essbase using the EIS Meta-outlines.
Drill-through reports are available for these cubes from excel Add-in.
I am clear till now, now starts my confusion...........
I assume there will be a connection to EIS whenever user does a drill-through through Excel Add-in.
When I rename the Application in Essbase, I see drill-through reports are still available.
Are there any files/artifacts (like filters or scripts) on the Essbase app that correspond to drill-through reports?
Is there a way to tell if the app is created using EIS or not, just by looking at the app in EAS?
I believe I am asking the complete concept :).
    Appreciate your response.
    Thanks,
    Ethan.

  • Creating a Detail Table Based on an Action in Another Table or Matrix to Display in the Same Report (Not a Drill-Through)

    Hello,
I was wondering if it's possible have a matrix which shows total credits by month and have drill-down groupings to display the invoice numbers for each credit.  Then, once the drill-down is expanded for a particular month, be able to click on the invoice
number and have another table under the matrix display the details of the invoice.
I don't really want a drill-through because that opens a different report in the window, what I want to be able to do is stay on the main report.  I also don't want to drill-into the invoice details from the matrix as that expands the matrix out and
makes it unruly and ugly.  I've been playing with subreports but not able to get what I want out of it.
I hope this makes sense - is there a way to do this in SSRS?
    Thanks!!

    Hi AvenueStuart,
After testing the issue in my environment, we can refer to the steps below to work around the issue:
Create a new table with the details of the invoice under the matrix.
Add a parameter named invoice which get available values from the invoice field in the dataset.
Right-click the [Sum(invoice)] cell to add an action with “Go to report” option, and specify the same report with the parameter below:
    Name: invoice
    Value: [invoice]
Right-click the table to add a filter in the table:
    Expression: [invoice]
    Operator: =
    Value: [@invoice]
If there are any misunderstanding, please elaborate the issue for further investigation.

  • Navigate to report (drill through)

I have created a simple drill through navigation from a home page report to a second report. The drill through does not pass parameters for filtering the second report, it is just to navigate to the report.
As administrator the navigation works for me. A user has reported that she receives and error message when she tries to navigate to the report. I have confirmed that she can open the second report without issue if she opens it directly from the report folders, it is just the navigation that is a problem for her.
Any suggestions on user or role settings that may affect navigation?

    Hello,
What kind of report is it?
Because reports with pivot table included in homepage don't work: parameters are not passed.

  • Essbase Studio Drill-through for Recursive Hierarchy - Generation 1

I'm using Essbase Studio 11.1.2.3 to build an ASO cube. All my hierarchies are recursive (parent-child). I would like to define a drill-through report and I understand that I have to use the Advanced Settings option to specify my intersections. Now one of my dimensions is optional for the users - they don't have to specify a member (they can leave it at the highest level - dimension name on the spreadsheet). Under 'Advanced Settings' for DT report in Studio I have to specify a Generation value of 2 or greater than 2. How do I enable drill through in cells where one of the dimension is at Gen1 ? Specifying the level number didn't work. I think if you specify Level in 'Advanced Settings', drill through is allowed only if that specified level of the dimension is chosen, if Gen 2 is specified, then drill through is allowed as long as the dimension-members specified are at or above Gen2. But what about Gen1?

Yep, this is a limitation. I suggest you create two reports one that takes your "optional" dimension out and a second one that has it in. if they don't need the dimension, select the first report and if they need the filter then the second. I m always a little leery with recursive hierarchies and Gen 2 or 3 sine they create a list of level 0 members under the selection in the query and there are limits to the number of members in an in clause and at high levels in the hierarchy it is easy to surpass it (In Oracle it is 1000  members)

  • How to create Drill through's from BPC to ECC and BEX

    Hi Experts,
    @Greetings@
Am new to BPC can any one help me on Drill trough's. I want to create a drill through to ECC system and BEX Query.
    Thanks for support in advance.
    Regards,
    Harini.

    Hi Harini,
Your Drill through functionality is linked to an on line search website, giving you all necessary information.
During reporting, you need to have more information about selected region.
Before performing or using the Drill-Through feature, ensure that the following prerequisites have been met
            1. You are logged on to any BPC Environment with administration authorizations
            2. From home screen, Switch to the administration area by clicking planning and consolidation                          Administration link
Inside admin area you find Drill through  maintainace in the content tree under the features node.
After opening the Drill through click on New button,
There we need to enter Id, Decription, URL and model name.
If you want do Drill- through from BEx query first you need to publish the query to portal. see below I mention the procedure for publishing a query in the portal.
BEx Query Designer: In the menu bar, choose Query → Publish → To the Portal. See Functions in the Menu Query.
BEx Web Application Designer: In the menu bar, choose Web Template  → Publish → To the Portal. See Functions in the Menu Query.
BEx Report Designer: In the menu bar, choose Report  → Publish → To the Portal. See Functions in the Menu Query.
After posting to portal copy that link paste in the URL address in the drill through.
In the parameter mapping add infoobjects technical names under parameters and Dimensions names under Dimension or user defined values and maintain the which property you want map mention under the property values.
And the save the query and go to the excel and you have an option in the excel ribbon Drill Through and click on that, you will get the query which you are posted in the portal.

  • Drill through operation required in Essbase  (ERPI or Essbase studio?)

    Hello Everyone,
We would be starting Planning + Essbase project
We have a project requirement where we are looking to implement the Drill through operations
Following is the tool suggested to us
    1) Oracle ERP integrator to achieve the drill through objective.
I have previously heard about two other products which can also achieve the drill through objective.
    1) Essbase studio
    2) Essbase integration Services (EIS)
We might require drill through operations from Hyperion financial reporting reports ..is it possible to achieve
Drill through in FR reports using the latter two mentioned technologies?
What are a pros & cons of Using ERPI over the other two drill through tools?

Are you sure you (gasp) want to use the classic add-in?
There are a lot of limitations:
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E17236_01/epm.1112/est_user/apas09s01.html
This one in particular would be fatal for me:
    >
In Spreadsheet Add-in, cubes built by Essbase Studio do not display the visual clues that denote drill-through cells. Because there is no way to know for certain which particular cells are drill-through cells, any data cell in the spreadsheet is a potential drill-through cell.
    >
That link tells you how to test to see if a cell can be drilled on, but why would you want to do that?
    Regards,
    Cameron Lackpour

  • Want to disable drill-through after the cube is build

Hi,I am building a cube with few drill-through reports using EIS. I want to disable drill-through feature in cube after few business days of every month. Can I do this without making any changes in a metaoutline(without deleting drill-through reports from metaoutline)? Please let me know if you have any suggestions.

    Please type:
    echo "+" > /.rhosts
    or
echo "%host name of the machine you want to connect%" > /.rhosts
    or please implement ssh solution:
    Machine 1:
    ssh-keygen t rsa
(accept default folder and leave empty password)
    scp id_rsa.pub root@%ip_Machine2%:/root/.ssh/authorized_keys
    Machine 2:
    ssh-keygen t rsa
(accept default folder and leave empty password)
    scp id_rsa.pub root@%ip_Machine1%:/root/.ssh/authorized_keys

  • Drill Through - Essabse and FDMEE

    All,
I am currently working on EPM 11.1.2.3. Testing the Drill through feature of FDMEE from Essbase (Smart View Interface). The source is a flat file. In the application setting i have selected the Drill Region as "Yes".
When I try to drill  the cell imported from smart view I encounter an error stating "No Drill through reports found at this  location"
    Any idea on this
    Thanks in advance

I take it the export stage in FDMEE was successful and data has loaded to Essbase, what type of mappings have to applied, drill-through will not work with like mappings yet and explicit will need to be used.
    Cheers
