Install R2 failure

Hi,
I try to install 9iAS R2 j2ee only on Suse 7.2 linux. I get some errors:
1) When installing the jdk: 'Error in setting permissions of file <oraclebasedir>/jre/bin/.java_wrapper'
But this file does not exits (also not in the tmp/installer dir.
When I cancel this component the jdk is only partly installed. I have jdk 1.3.1_03 installed anyway; so what ;-(
2) Later on: i/o eror while trying to append file <oraclehomedir>/sysman/config/iasadmin.properties.
But no config directory can be found.
3) In the end the http configuration assistant fails (ZipException: No such no file or directory) and the oc4j configuration fails (NoClassDefFoundError on oracle/sysman/emSDK/TargetAdditionException)
It seems that the em has not been installed.
Probably some (or all) of these error are caused by previous ones.
Anyone any suggestions? Is this because my kernel is v2.4.4 instead of the required 2.4.7?
Ciao

Hi,
I just upgraded to kernel 2.4.16. Unfortunately no improvement. I also tried to put the jre by myself in the <oraclebasedir>/jre directory. But with no result :-(
So I'm stuck again.

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
The further information area has direct links to the current and recent builds in case you have problems downloading, need to revert to an older version or want to try the iTunes for Windows (64-bit - for older video cards) release as a workaround for installation or performance issues, or compatibility with QuickTime or third party software.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there are also links to backup and recovery advice should it be needed.

  • AMD Radeon HD 8750m Install package failure

    Hello.
I have an HP Probook 450 G1 with an Intel HD 4600 and an AMD 8750m graphics card. I just formatted my windows, I have installed the Intel driver, restarted my laptop and tried to install my AMD card driver when I stumbled into a problem that sounds like this: Application Install: install package failure!
Is there someone that could help me with this problem please? It would be very much appreciated

Apparently my laptop doesn't even recognize that I would have an AMD graphic card. I installed the AMD Catalyst Auto Detect program and it's just showing me this:

I get the error message 'failure to run preupgrade script for AppleMobileDevice' when I tried to install itunes. Have tried the steps at this link - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1747 - but still no luck. Any ideas how I can resolve this?

    Hey, thanks for your reply!
I'm trying to download iTunes 10.5. The software requirement says it needs OS X 10.5 or later so I should be able to right? (I'm on 10.5.8)

  • Resume Install and Failures?

I started the download of my selected applications last night before I left the office. When I cam in this morning, the Photoshop install had failed. The disk images for inDesign and Illustrator were on my desktop and I had to manually install them. Acrobat and Muse had also (theoretically) been downloaded but hadn't installed. All that was on the desktop for those two applications were the CCM files.
So I go to try to install Photoshop again and it starts an entirely new download. 3 hours later, the download finishes and the INSTALL FAILS AGAIN! It says the download was corrupted. In the meantime, it has begun (at my request) downloading Acrobat and Muse again.
So, there are several questions. First of all, why is my Photoshop install failing? Second, why do these applications have to be downlaoded again? Aren't the install files stroed on my hard drive? I really don't want to wait another 9 hours to try installing Photoshop again just to have it fail.
While inDesign and Illustrator seem to be working well, it seems a little odd to me that I have to quit ALL Adobe apps to install discrete applications. What gives?
I just signed up for the Cloud yesterday and I had hoped to be able to use all the new apps today but it appears this won't be happening. Can anyoine offer advice to get me up and running?

I would recommend beginning by diagnosing what is causing your installation failure.  Please utilize the Adobe Support Advisor - http://www.adobe.com/support/loganalyzer/ to review your installation logs.  Also for your next install of Photoshop I would also recommend utilizing the trial of Photoshop CS6.  This will prevent you from needing to download again if it is unsuccessful.  Once you have installed simply sign in using your Creative Cloud Adobe ID.

  • [SOLVED] Fresh install, Two failures and hang

Solution: Needed to mount my boot partition (EF filesystem) to /boot/efi instead of /boot. Using rEFInd
Hi, so I've read the beginners guide inside and out and I'm having the most difficult time installing arch.
I've probably wiped it at least a dozen times and everything seems like it is going to start up and I get a few failures on startup which results in a hang afterwards
    1)
[FAILED] Failed to start Create Volatile Files and Directories.
see 'systemctl status systemd-tmpfiles-setup.service' for details.
    2) (this one cycles 6 times before hang)
[FAILED] Failed to start login service.
See 'systemctl statuse systemd-logind.service' for details.
    x6
    Then I get
    [OK] Reached Target Multi-User System.
    [OK] Reached target graphical interface.
then the hang where I can't do anything but hold down my power button.
I tried restarting the system with my liveCD (usb) and mounting up my directories and looking into the systemd files but they just say they load ok and there aren't any issues.
I've scoured google and really can't find anything to fix this issue. Any advice would be welcome for sure!
I know I can install Arch on this laptop because I was successful once. But then I wiped it to try out OpenSUSE, and since then I can't get passed these errors.
    Thanks in advance!

The second one 0001 loads the boot screen but displays the error. My harddrive just displays a blinking cursor that doesn't do anything. Almost as though after the errors I get through the linux boot manager, it passes on to my hard drive and it can't do anything....
ran the create microsoft directory code and such. Rebooted. No change. I'm going to run the other debug things you mentioned.
Tried booting from UEFI shell. When I ran cd \EFI\arch I get "target directory not found" and \EFI\archlinux also gets target directory not found
OK it is not entirely clear what the boot process is doing here and it looks like the most likely problem is a gummiboot config error.  Your boot order in the efibootmgr command shows that entry 0001 is the first one that it will try which you have as "linux boot manager" - which presumably will find the gummiboot entry but perhaps it is not configured correctly.  Certainly you don't have any \EFI\arch or \EFI\archlinux directories since you previously quoted the contents of the /boot/EFI/ directory using the ls -l command. in \EFI\ there are only a Boot and a Gummiboot directory.
I am not clear why you had to run the command that created the boot entries twice but presumably the entry at boot0000 is likely invalid from the first attempt. You can use the efibootmgr command to delete nvram entries as well as recreate them.  I expect it might be a good idea to delete entry 0000, and maybe also 0001 and then create a new entry yourself using the efibootmgr command.
When you say that entry 0001 "loads the boot screen" - do you mean that it does successfully start the gummiboot bootloader but that gummiboot then fails to load the kernel? If so then that would suggest that the problem lies with the gummiboot configuration files, but that the uefi boot process does start correctly and loads gummiboot.  If that is the case then I would probably delete the nvram entry 0000 and then make sure that the default order was showing that the first entry that will be tried will be gummiboot (which seems to have its entry as "linux boot manager".  I don't use gummiboot myself so I don't have knowledge of what its boot screen looks like.
You can use the efibootmgr command to write a new entry similar to :
    efibootmgr -c -d /dev/sdX -p Y -l /EFI/Gummiboot/gummiboot.efi -L "Gummiboot"
where sdX is the drive you have for ESP, and Y is the partition number. So in your case sdX is sda and Y is 3 if your partitions are as you reported previously. Using this command will then give an entry in the nvram called Gummiboot rather than "linux boot manager".  For the meaning of the parameters see the output of the command "man efibootmgr".
Check the man command for efibootmgr to see how to remove and reorder the boot entries in nvram. Make sure that the entries and boot order are sane before trying to reboot. Also make sure you only delete the entries that you created and not the ones that will boot to the usbkey or the CD.
If this does start Gummiboot correctly then you need to diagnose why gummiboot is not loading the arch kernel correctly. You can follow the wiki page at https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Gummiboot and set up a manual entry to load the arch kernel as the file /boot/loader/entries/arch.conf containing:
    title Arch Linux
    linux /vmlinuz-linux
    initrd /initramfs-linux.img
    options root=PARTUUID=14420948-2cea-4de7-b042-40f67c618660 rw
Here the PARTUUID value to the right of the = sign is the value relating to your root partition which is in your case the output of
    blkid -s PARTUUID -o value /dev/sda1
Perhaps this will help pinpoint where the problem lies.  Certainly it is looking increasingly like your gummiboot config files are where the boot fails.
If you did want to try to launch your arch kernel from the uefi shell then boot to uefi shell v2 as you seem to have tried before. In your case you will need to tell the uefi shell where the kernel and initrd files are so presuming that your files system is defined as fs0 then from the shell in your case it would then be:
    > fs0:
    > cd \EFI\
    > vmlinuz-linux root=PARTUUID=14420948-2cea-4de7-b042-40f67c618660 rootfstype=ext4 add_efi_memmap initrd=EFI/initramfs-linux-img
Since the kernel and initrd files in your case are named  vmlinuz-linux and initramfs-linux-img respectively.  Again the numerical value of the PARTUUID is as before the output of the blkid I quoted before.
You only need to change directory to \EFI\ since your kernel and initrd are in /boot in your case.  All of these commands have to be carefully adapted to your specific case and can't just be cut and pasted from the wiki entry which only has sample commands in many cases.
    I hope this helps.

  • Apple-Installed RAID Failure

When I bought my G5, I ordered it with the dual 250 GB SATA drives in a raid to create a 500 GB drive. Today, it appears that the RAID has failed and the computer will not boot properly. Well, rather it starts up, is fine for about 5 minutes, and then everything shuts down.
Using disk utility while booting from the (apparently) damaged drive does not reveal any errors because the drives seem to work fine until the crash. However, I installed 10.4.6 on an external drive, and while the RAID is recognized for about a minute after startup, it just quits and I get the device removal warning. After the RAID quits, running disk utility reveals that one of the disks has "Failed" and the other is "Offline."
I have tried resetting the PRAM and starting up in Safe Mode, but neither succeeded in solving the problem. Is it possible to correct the error without losing data? Is there a way of at least stabilizing it long enough so that I can retrieve important data (because like an idiot, I didn't backup)?

Well I went into an Apple Store, and the only advice that they were able to give me was to try Prosoft's Data Rescue II, although none of the Geniuses had ever used it so they really didn't know if it would work.
As it turns out, if the controller is stable enough, Data Rescue can actually recover data from it. So I got myself a 500 GB external hard drive and ran drive clone (which simply copies the data from one drive to another) and the program didn't show any errors! There is the slight problem that the 500 GB drive that I got was about 1.4 gigs short of the internals, but I'll be pretty darn happy if I can keep 99.6% of my data!
Unfortunately the clone drive isn't mounting, but I assume that's either because the drive was not formatted, or because of that missing 1.4 GB. However, I do have a large internal drive that I can restore to from the clone drive, so I'm hoping everything will work out.

    Any ideas?

After I fixed some of the things I broke while searching for the wrksf failure, the PL/SQL Cartridge now works for me too. And, after failing to get the DB Browser to work by loading it into the SCOTT schema, I got it to work by loading it into SYS. (SCOTT can't see the DBA_* views so loading the DB Browser into the database failed.) I haven't tried any Java Servlets yet, but that's next on my list.
If you want to try my wrksf workaround, rather than using Christoph's, here's how you can do it.
    1. Backup liborb.so in the $ORACLE_HOME/orb/4.0/lib directory, just in case something goes wrong.
    2. Using a hex editor, such as emacs hexl-find-file or ghex, to edit liborb.so, find the string "/proc/stat".
    3. Change the directory, "/proc" to something like "/pfoo" and write the shared library file back to liborb.so. You now have the required modified liborb.so.
    4. Make the /pfoo directory and cp /proc/stat /pfoo.
    5. Edit /pfoo/stat and duplicate the first line, which should be the cpu line. This will let the metrics parser handle it. Make sure that /pfoo/stat has read access.
Of course, the values that the metrics code gets are now bogus, but that does not seem to be a fatal problem.
Hopefully somebody from Oracle is reading this and the real fix will be in the mail soon.

another update. I have run "sfc /scannow" quite a few times now. Each time supposedly find a few corrupted files and corrected them. The original errors had to do with permissions, and after much searching, reading, and applying suggested solutions
seemed to have taken care of the permission problem. Just reran "sfc" and now I have the permission problem back. I have done everything I can to correct it, but the installer still errors on "not enough permissions to access folders".
I have downloaded the package 4 different times to preclude a corrupted download. Applied every suggestion received, and everything short of reinstalling window. I have many programs installed and most are paid applications that make it very difficult
to reregister after reinstalling, especially without having to repay for the application when doing so. So reinstalling windows would be a last resort. Any help would be appreciated. I have used "take ownership", changed permissions on almost every
folder on my computer that is involved with the windows OS, etc.

    MeipoXu;
No, the VMware package will not install, the error messages are:
"warning 1909, cannot create shortcut virtual network editor.lnk Verify destination folder exists and that you can access it." and: " warning error 1909 "cannot create shortcut vmwork station.lnk Verify destination folder exists
and that you can access it. Then "The installer has encountered an unexpected error installing this package. This may indicate a problem with this package. the error code is 2902"
Have already created another administrator account with all privileges, and same results when trying to install VMware. Package was redownloaded 4 times in case of corrupted package, I even used the same package and installed it on "windows 10 preview"
where it works fine (but this is temporary until win 10 is officially released). All folders and files involved have been given full permissions, used "take ownership" also on everything involved. Used the tool you suggested previously, it found
nothing wrong and exited with no corrections performed. Other than reinstalling windows 8.1 with full fresh install, I see no answer to this. I do not want to do that as I have too many applications installed that I have paid for. Every time I do reinstall
windows(in the past) I lose some of these applications because the authors want me to repurchase the application in order to get another activation code.
I also have been posting on the VMware site the same as I have here. Their official view of this is it is a windows installer problem and not VMware caused. The people there have also been trying to help me as best as they can. I appreciate both sites and
the people on each that have tried to help.
I have windows defender only installed and deactivate it each time I try to install the package. I'm stumped!
One word forward, when I come across a problem I use Google (internet searching) all forums from companies involved and any other sources that might possibly be helpful. If all these do not produce any answer, then and only then will I open a post on
involved web sites asking for help. I don't post all these efforts as it would take up too much space on the forum, so please bear with me on this.
